It's a good Gatcha Game to play :
    +Interesting mecanics and characters gameplay
+Lot of Boss, chests and puzzles
+All 4 stars and 5 can be play and find a usefull on teams compositions

    But It's not perfect :
-Gatcha with a 50% lost the pitty, the worst part for F2P players
-Multiplayer are useless and not very usefull (only for help news players or rush boss)

despite the fact its basically p2p, the world is amazing.

The artstyle is done well, and the enviroments feel great, soundtrack is amazing, and extremely well made.

Monetization is eh, getting 5 star characters is practically impossible, but it isn't exactly necessary.
4 star characters can perform just as well as 5 stars as long as you invest the time to level them up.

The game is totally completable with the characters they give out for free (look up Enviosity). I agree that the resin system is **** but that's the only thing, no reason to give it a 0 or something like that...As for the rest of the game I'd say it's really great, especially considering that's it's free to play. It offers a story that's looking good, nice characters, beautiful world and graphics, good soundtracks, plenty to explore and challenges, which are renewed every two weeks. And events are added every week, with greater expansions coming once a month and a half. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Surprisingly fun and well built for a game that looks like a Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (BotW) Clone. It definitely copies a lot of the style and mechanics and ideas of Breath of the Wild, but the gameplay and feel of the world is very different. especially when it comes to stats. The weapon system for one is actaully surprisngly similar to Destiny 2 (though I'm only a light Destiny 2 user).

I'm only a few hours into Genshin Impact game but so far I find it more engaging than BotW, and I think this is because although BotW was more intricately made with more attention to immersion and the beauty of it, this makes it quite slow at times, and the world is very plain in my opinion and you can travel for hours with little to do. and it doesnt help that the storyline is very simple and (though I havent fninished it I am many hours in) a lot of it is stuff that already happens in the pas, but the present is the same, unevolving situation and list of tasks to do with a few fetch/kill quests from npcs.

The graphics are pretty much on par with BotW, there is essentially no difference - some areas are niceer some are worse.

The world of Genshin has a lot of stuff going on [SPOILERS OF FIRST 10 MIN GAMEPLAY] such as people from other planets, abundant elemental magic, dragons, gods, knights, power hungry factions. It makes for a very dynamic and lively feeling world and I am actually excited to see where it goes. It is one of the few games that has made my curiosiy overcome my self control and make me wan to play much longer than I planned to because its actually interesting and makes you want to level up and explore the world and go on with the story.

The combat feels fun, which is difficult to pull off, but switching between characters (which is sometthing you can do pretty soon from the start) and their unique weapon types and abilities is actually prety fun. And trying to find good weapons and buff items and upgrade them adds a level of detail which is actaully really cool to play around wih, geting your favourite play style and more power. I actually enjoy combat in this game along with the weapon and buff system, none of which are easy o do at all, and in most other games I really dislike how nay of these are done, so I'm amazed to see it done so well here.

Genshin is a much more alive world than BoW, where npc interaction is much more rich and complex and entwrtwined with storyline rather than simple fetch/kill quests. What's also interesting is how levels are designed - during quests you are often lead to large dungeon-type areas which dont appear on the world map - this actually reminded me a lot of Destiny 2 level design and the versatility was quite interesting and exciting, since you're discovering new things instead of exploring the same areas on the map.

Unfortunately is basically devoid of online multiplayer until you reach adventure level 16, which I havent done yet but I am curious how that will be.

Also, it is annoying how much content is lifted from BotW. There are just a lot of things you see pop up tha clone it almost exactly, like [SPOILERS FIRST 10 MINS GAMEPLAY] basically bokoblins exactly as hey arer implemented in BotW but they just look differen (they arer by far the most common enemy, there are camps of them often, you can unlock chests by defeaing them...) and you ge gliders and climbing and you drown if you run out oif stamina while swimming... That said, while way too much copies game mechanics from BotW, how the game actaully plays out feels very very different. It is much more action packed and plot driven and the combat is much more complex (but thank goodness wepons dont take damage like they do in BotW forcing you to always hunt out new ones or be stuck with clubs).

There are also a few bugs at the moment like npc mouths stop moving while halfway through talking and dialogue accidentally being repeated in the wrong place. Also you can change the controls layout for key board or controllers even though apparantly some dialogue says you can change those settings. It also isn't erribly well optimised. I am running an intel 4770 RTX 2070 12GB RAM running a 1080p and in places my FPS dips into the 40s - even Horizon zero dawn almost never does that.

Some design choices are also odd like, even on PC the FPS is limited to 60, theer are almost no HUD options (so you can hide useless stuff that takes up space on the screen), you cant fullscreen on other resolutions than 1080p (on a 1080p screen or below),

Also this is more preference but to me the voice acting and the choice of words is often really cheesy.

That said, it is genuinely one of the few games that has me actaully _excited_ to play more of it to see what happens. Especially because it's a free to play, I can highly recommend you try it. Although if your a PC user the download is very long right now because of high demand and bad servers. Its only 12 GB download, but downloads as 0.5

Genshin Impact deserves the title of becoming a pseudo-AAA that is free to play. You can say thatit counts that include a very in-depth storyline plus a colorful ensemble of characters that each display their own uniqueness in their position in the game.

The game itself as a gacha action-RPG is almost certainly a nod to MiHoYo's former works as they represent similar mechanics but their first attempt in the world of RPG is simply surprising. The simple yet deep battle mechanics that lies in the game is a fun and customizable feat and evolves on the certain armor and accessories. Its implementation on elements is quite different as they create reactions which add more to the certain double damage.

The thing to take note about this game is its constant progression however as you level up farther into the game, the more difficult and troubling levelling up becomes as the best weapons and characters are trapped behind the money-reliant gacha system of Genshin. The game makes it hard for people who have explored the area fully to acquire Primogems, the game's premium currency, and also costly as a roll costs at 160 of the gems and you could get at an average 65 Primogems per day which can get too far.

The game's most controversial element would be its resin system as it restricts players more to enjoy the game as many of Teyvat's challenges require a somehow heavy amount of Resin which can bring trouble much for dedicated players compared to the F2P players. Another problem would be its sad probability rates as not everyone can get a 5-star at most rolls and players can certainly leave the game out of the whim just because of it so those are one of the major issues that needs resolving.

Though locked behind a very obvious paywall due to its jarring gacha system and a somehow tedious grinding process just to be able to experience more of the game, Genshin Impact strives with an impact, no pun intended, as to becoming one of 2020's numerous surprises.

Beyond that, the animations are beautiful. Some of the English voice work is spectacular and is pretty engaging. There is a "Pay-2-get better" system much like Warframe, and I would advise not spending any money towards the loot boxes aka Wishs here. You can buy them with in-game currency. Overall Great game, would recommend playing.

For the record im AR 32 atm and downloaded it about 5 days ago.

Really nice for a free game, although gacha would lure you to spend hundreds or thousand dollars on it, the game itself is still playable, not to mention it is also giving players gems occasionally, not only through email but also through events. Players also got at least 50 pulls for free when they reaches level 10.

Currently, I'm AR 24, and I have one 5*character for around 40 pulls in total. That is not bad considering that I haven't hit the pity yet; however, it still takes an incredibly long time to save up enough intertwined fates, especially with the lack of resin. In addition to that, I feel quite bad for saying this, but I feel like MiHoYo is kind of greedy. They should make the f2p experience a little better. For example, give us at least 100+ primos for logging in --keep in mind 1 pull is 160 primos so it seems reasonable for the company, they should also fix the resin problem (not by making the cap bigger but by making the resin generation faster) so that we f2p people have more chances to get better artifacts and more primos from bosses. All in all, although it has it's problems, it's still an AMAZING game and I recommend you try it! Expand

There is a tricks that you can combines the elements and get more stronger attack. The story quest and dialogue are interesting but also the weakest parts, the story conversation is completely okay to skip it, it ‘s so long and I surely that most of player also skip it. In some quest that have to find something, it’s hard to find them but it’s still say that it’s on this area, I take long time to find it. The ingredients and equipment is hard to find to make the food or level of the characters and weapon because they are in different area and this game and the map is so big, perhaps you not only to just pick the ingredient in the way but also have to kill the animal such as to get a meat, fish and chicken. In the high level, it hard to defeat the monster if you don’t have high star weapon and characters and can’t go to the next quest because you can’t pass the before quest with low stars. I downloaded Genshin Impact on my phone and really enjoyed the first few hours. The game didn't feel like a ripoff to me, it felt like a love letter to the Zelda franchise. The OST is perfect, the graphics are stunning, and the character designs blow me away. The amount of work that goes into each character's outfit, idle animations, and lore is incredible.
Despite that, Genshin still has big problems. I don't really mind the resin system but I understand it limits a lot of gameplay. The Gacha aspect turns away a lot of potential fans and can be detrimental for some individuals. That is to say, Gacha is not integral to the gameplay. The four or five free characters you get are really good if you build them right(Kaeya is a god). Another issue is the repetitive nature of the missions. I get tired of sweeping leaves for Albert and mopping up some kid's boat but you have to keep in mind that the game hasn't finished yet. It probably won't finish for years to come. Plus, I used to be an avid Red Dead Online player so I'm used to participating in repetitive missions and menial tasks for a sliver of cash.
I feel like it is important to add that I have spent money on the Gacha system. I have spent $25 in total. $15 for Xiao on his last day and $10 in the months since for the Welkin Moon Blessing. I didn't get Xiao if you were wondering. It is really easy to drop $300 in 3 minutes for even the prospect of getting Diluc and hackers are a big problem. Mihoyo seems more invested in closeting leaks than fixing bigger issues.
I really like Genshin Impact so my review is going to be very biased. Please take my words with a grain of salt. If you hate this title with as much passion as I did when it first released, just try it. If you still hate it, then that's ok.

Kinda a nitpick: (1)I saw a review that said they paid full price for this game and complained about the Gacha system. Genshin is free. (2)A game cannot have the potential to be labeled as "AAA" because that term is defined as follows, "AAA is an informal classification used for video games produced and distributed by a mid-sized or major publisher..." By this definition, Genshin Impact is a AAA title. I just saw some misinformation and wanted to correct it. I doubt any person would actually believe the false info but I still wanted to clarify.

Yes, it is not that good, if you never played such game (like i say, most japanese MMOs, all korean MMOs, and almost every single mobile games). In fact compared to other mobil games ( just remember, its in fact a mobil game with cross play function), the small pitty for 90 draws, where you get a random 5 star garantieed, and according to the survy, most people will reach this pitty between 70-80th draw.

Alright even 70-80 sounds terrible right? that means you need about 200 bucks for a random 5 star (50% to be the pick up one), or 400 bucks for the pick up one if you had bad luck. But lets think about the free crystals you can get. Approximatly you get about 6000 crystals each version, and genshin updates every 40 days (its basically 2 banners, each for 20 days). So without paying anything, you get 6k crystals every 40 days as long as you just spend about 10min each day for dailies, and doing all campains ( either 4-7 hours for the whole champain, or about 30min everyday during champain). In addition to it, you get about 10k crystals each major area, where you have 3 currently plus 1 time limited and only gives about 2k. So lets say, join the game play the first month and paying nothing will give you about 36k crystals, which is more than 220 draws. If you willing to pay a little bit for it, get the monthly subscription which costs 5 bucks every 30 days, grant you 100 crystal every day and 300 genesis crystal (the currency where you can only get buy paying real money, used to exchange 1:1 to crystal or buy some packages/skin from cash shop), even more you can get a battle pass for each version, which costs you extra 10 bucks and gives you 5 draws (800 crystal) for time limited banner and 5 for normal as well as 680 crystals and tons of resources. So paying about 15 bucks you can get almost a pitty every month considering the 5 monthly free draws from shop and most people get thier pitty between 70-80.

So what do you get from gacha? Either Powerful and/or cute/sexy waifus. But the game is completely playable even you dont draw a single charactor (there are people doing this way as challenge), you just need some player skills and spend a bit more time when fighting boss.

And those complaining about "Pay to play daily", they meaning the rensin system, oh yes, you get about 180 rensin regen for each day, those daily activities costs you either 20 or 40 each time when you want to claim the prize. And you can spend up to 900 crystals every day for 300 extra rensin, if you whale it, bringing you tons of more trash relics and about 300 extra exp, which means almost nothing if you plan to play long with it (since the game is softly capped after lv55, and even not spending a single coin on it, you get at least 50 moons from main quests result in 3k extra rensin, and you can hit lv55 within 3 month buy just doing the daily and use your daily 180 rensin). So in some way, it is pay to play long, but even if you whale, you cant play it the whole day.

And just to make it sure, its neither an MMO or a Diablo-Like game, which keeps you on endlessly. Even those 3As, which also turn out to have nothing to do for the most people after the first 100 - 150 hour game play. As its an PvE game without super hard dungeons, its just fine to not have all the charactors. ( i mean, you want to play an awesome game, but dont want to pay for it, and you want to have everything? games are not charity i mean. f2p means you have to gave up some game experience)

I feel like every single bad review is focused on the same SINGLE aspect of the game. And it is called "Constellation/Refine". To explain to whoever is thinking of playing this game, there are quite a few "parallel power systems" on the game. A weapon, for instance, has its level (and upgrading is totally free, requires no real money) and a "Refine level" (which u upgrade by sacrificing a duplicate of the weapon. The only way to get reliable duplicates is through loot boxes). The same goes for characters (though they have more parallel power systems). But here is the caught: you DO NOT NEED max Refine level to play even the hardest part of the game. It is not required. So I have to explicitly point out that this is a F2P game and if your desire to min/max is so strong, then pay the ridiculous amount of money to min/max ALL characters (again NOT NEEDED). It feels unfair to give a 0 or 1 based on constellation/refine. I do agree that it is frustrating to not be able to have character X or Y due to in-game currency being locked out (but, again, it is a F2P game). Regarding "energy" limit, people seem to think time-gate is bad... I think a bit of it (not saying Genshin has the perfect amount) is GREAT... cause it keeps people from grinding the game and finishing it in 24hrs.

Genshin can be played in different ways. You can grind and max out chars to see big dmg numbers, you can spend hours exploring (like Skyrim, which costs money btw), you can dive deep into intricate lore with meaningful side quests (like MMOs, again... money). You can casually play and slowly build up a good team FOR FREE while exploring the current patch/zone (in a seasonal manner, much like PoE). This game is GOOD and can be played casually. Don't let min/max culture keep you away from trying the game.

Regarding the grind aspect, Genshin was designed so that you could spend a lot of time on it (much like WoW, FF14, MOBAs) and it is something to consider if you want to farm some types of in-game currency. But I play it like PoE, a seasonal think. The third MAIN zone has just been out and there is more than 100 hours of game (basic exploration, main quest, and side characters story quest) to be done. So, I'll again just make it clear:

You don't f****** need ALL legendary characters to get AND/OR max constellation/refine on itens to play this game. It is mostly single-player. Nobody, but you, will see how much dmg you do.

Nobody cares. You should just care to see if you can beat the challenge. And, nowadays, it is GOOD that some challenges take time. People want to buy a game and beat it as fast as possible to jump to another game. Just be chill/casual and juggle between a few games. Genshin can be one of those games for the price of 0 dollars.

    8/10
-1 cause I also dont like gacha systems (but at least this one has a scalling odds subsystem)
-1 cause they are yet to re-release a character through loot boxes (its dumb and new players, currently, 0 chances of getting "old" characters)

On the Gacha system while it isn’t perfect, I think that Mihoyo gives you a good chance to get your Favourite character without needing to spend a dime. This makes the game very ‘free to play friendly’ (players who choose not to spend money on the game) especially when comparing to other Gacha games.
Overall, the game is worth playing and the fact that it’s a Gacha game does not mean any money has to be spent to have fun while the devs are somewhat neglectful to update some characters e.g., Qiqi This does not change from the fact that any character within the game has the ability to do well (high damage/clear hardest part of the game

I assume most people who rank the game negatively don't get the fact that it is a game that you are not supposed to play a lot 2 weeks and then leave, it's done to play maybe 10 hours a week for something like a year or two maybe. By doing that you will have too much content because there is new content almost every month, and a ton of daily and weekly events.

I am not even into this type of game normally, I don't like farming games (things like Diablo for instance), but the open world is very beautiful, same for the music.

In terms of quests, there is some nice (poetic ?) stuff, but I found a good amount of the quests quite boring so far, that's the most negative point for me, but I haven't finished the game so I can't blame that too much.

Characters are cool, voices are nice, fighting system is really well done, the RPG side of the game as well, good balance also, a bit hard sometimes but never too much.

The game is quite easy to run on a modest PC, and the multiplatform support is awesome. You can continue your game on your mobile exactly where you left on your PC, something I haven't seen much so far.

You can play the entire game without spending any money. The world levels as your characters do, so you are incapable of being locked due to underleveled characters. I am entirely free to play and I have acquired enough in game rewards to get 3 5-star characters and 2 5-star weapons and that is enough to last me the entire game. This game gets so much hate for its pricing when you can just not spend the money and just play an amazing game for free.

There are 2 main issues though that stop me from giving a higher score, the first one being the cutscenes and dialogue. Some quests have great stories that I read through because of interesting characters and tension within the story, but some stories and quests are just awful and there is no way to skip dialogue fast. I get that they paid voice actors but I don't care and I just want to play the game. The second issue are the quests under the "story" header, because I have not enjoyed any of them and they mostly consist of boring copy and paste MMO challenges, and the boring stories I was talking about before, but they are occaisionally mandatory. There are some standard world quests that are way better than any of the story quests, and story quests are supposed to be important and have more effort from the developers put into them. Some of them unlock new bosses, but the mind slog to get there ruins the battle.

The other topic I want to discuss is the spiral abyss and end-game content, I am not a completionist so I just stop playing the game after exploring everywhere I want to explore and doing every quest that is fun, so I never dealt with resin or daily commisions because I would just stop playing. I have acquired a ton of fragile resin that I am yet to deplete, and I only grinded domains a few times to make my 2 main dps over-leveled. I think grinding sucks, and I don't like how artifacts are random, which is my main gripe with the whole level system. i think what needs to be said more often is that the game has an end after each update, but its not clear because the game is still releasing. The end is when you have run out of fun stuff to do, you don't have to log in every day, you don't have to grind domains, because not doing them doesn't lock you out of exploring or doing quests. Which is why I can't justify bringing down the review more than a point, because the issue is completely optional, you aren't forced to deal with resin or daily commisions unlike so many other modern games. Resin can be seen as either a way to make people log on every day and build some sort of connection with the game so they end up spending money and I am sure that Mihoyo uses the system because of this, but I view it as a way to stop myself from exhausting the game before it has released its final update and completed the full map. Its a single player game and everything outside of spiral abyss wasn't designed to force you to grind.

As of writing this, the game is midway through releasing the fourth of the seven main regions on the map, so by that number, the game is a little more than halfway completed. I played this game on release for a week, but the game didn't feel complete so I decided to leave it and maybe return if it got updates. 2 years later I saw the game had a condisderable amount of updates so I decided to download it again. The amount of content that had been released is incredible, it revived that feeling I got from playing Elden RIng earlier in the year, where the game just gets larger and larger even when you think you have explored everything. Finding Enkanomiya was such a massive **** moment for me, as-well as discovering the Chasm mines. I had no idea what they ahd added to the game outside knowledge about a japan themed electro area. The second time through was such a different experience and to anyone who played the game on release and dropped it due to getting bored, I highly recomend they pick it up again. The archon quests also had some significant improvements in their writing and tension, the final-boss/chapter for the electro area was incredibly well done, and my only complaint is that I can't repeat the quest.

I hope this explains my high rating of a game that is constantly met with hateful reviews. It ultimately comes down to what type of person plays this game, some people despise the anime aesthetic, some people hate in-game transactions that are random, some people like to grind characters to max and then are punished by a daily reward system for wanting to play the game, and I just found it better to ignore these concepts and just play the main content of the game.

anyways, the game is good. although not finished yet, it has a compelling story and a stunning world. if played in a casual manner, it is possible to have some fun playing the main and side quests, participating in live events and earning some currency to unlock a few of your favorite characters. the way i recommend playing is just doing quests and participating in events and thats it. no watching yt videos about the best builds for each character nor trying to max out on the abyss, which is arguably the hardest, lowest profitable challenge in the game. try to log in from patch to patch to see the new features
the worst part about this game, as well as other gacha games, is that it makes the coolest characters the hardest to obtain, requiring daily grind of currencies which can make you highly addicted as it did to me years ago.

Very clunky system, controls feels sluggish. The progression system is pretty much dice and roll to get 5 star, 4 star characters and weapons with super low drop rates. Its like lottery which is normally regulated by agencies that regulate gambling. Login rewards. Like so many other mobile games, but definitely unsuited for this type of game.

Progression are locked behind map exploration and mini quests like that of guild wars 2. But in guild wars 2 map exploration is purely optional. Very very slow movement speeds to make sure you can't progress quickly.

Flying is exactly the same as guild wars 2, even the rate of decline and updraft mechanic, they work and look essentially the same. I can understand the game choosing a climb and glide gameplay, but the way gliding is done just tells you that its a straight up copy and it is done to restrict movement and slow game progression.

    Conclusion:

Largely a copycat with different skin challenging the originals. Could have been top game if done properly. End game maybe better but it will take too long to get there. Something that's ok for casual relaxation. May change with game updates.

They also have a intrincate elemental system that has it's flaws (electro end game scaling) but hey, it's complex and deep in a genre that people (Blizzard) seem to cater for gold fishes with low attention spam. And they have that in a game that flows like a modern Assassin's Creed.

And yet, they bottled it with the resin system. This is the screwed up world were ARPGs are into: it's better to make a great game and kill it with a stupid system and profit with gacha AND pay to progress instead of making an AAA ARPG with reasonable monetization (cosmetics).

The worst part is, while I would rather have silence than a tone-deaf response - I get it.

I don't like the feeling that this whole thing tells more about the stock market disguised as gaming industry than about Mihoyo and Genshin. I don't like the feeling that, in the screwed up world we are into, Mihoyo could be "right".

    Into the paywalls:

    - The gacha system is a gacha, but it also is the least of your problems. It's a PvE game and the 4 star trash can clear it. It's garbage can, not garbage can't - and some non-5-star suports are even S tier, mind you. Same applies for some non-dps weapons and the farmable DPS wepons are A tier, not D tier.

    - There is a resin (energy) system that could makes it pay to progress - if it didn't have a cap after you pay a little bit. This is the firs wall you'll encounter, but not the last nor the tallest.

    - Unique items to max talents have a low drop rates on bosses you can fight once a week. This is "it".

So yeah. They made a good game you can't enjoy at your pace past a certain point not even if you whale. That's bad design. That would be easy to fix (remove the energy system, reduce boss respwan timers form one week to one minute). If only they could give a damn...

At face value this game is fantastic with decent gameplay and cast of characters with good visuals and sound/music. But let me go through the good and the bad with this review:

    -The Good-

-The Zelda BotW looking style is really good and captures the inspiration of the game. Even running in the lowest graphics setting on pc the game still looks good.

-There are two regions of the game one being the fantasy land themed region of Mondstadt which is the starting region and is the smaller of the two available regions and then the other being the Oriental fantasy themed area of Liyue which is the larger region. While the smaller region is pretty simplistic with enemy camps and some small villages here and there the larger region is filled with villages, ruins, mining encampments and other areas of discovery. Both maps even have their special statues that are called statue of the 7 which both regions have their own version themed around their own element that region worships as well as their own Oculus tokens to collect to max out the shrine of the region which gives adventure experience, currency, and even increase your stamina cap so you can run, climb, swim, etc more as you journey.

-The story is pretty ok for your typical anime adventurer from another world please help us do things as you look for your lost sibling scenario, I think what shines is the cast of characters you can meet along in your journey which you can also unlock as playable but the only issue is its through the gacha.

-The combat with characters you have is simple but highly customizable in a way. Each character you collect or get lucky to get are based around one of the 7 respective elements. While using different weapons, their combat styles along with accessories and element team composition play a role in how you will play. Elements even have a combined effect next to strengths and weaknesses to one another where you can really dish out damage, gain more defense against, or even break shields of an element yours is strong against.

-Standard gameplay is pretty much like BotW, people new to it will be ticked because of the stamina system but those who have played it won't be bothered because this game goes by the same principles. like jumping at the last bit of stamina to get that leap of faith jump to climb to top or finding different slope angles to rest on. There is even cooking in this game which plays a big role in your adventure where collecting everything nailed down really helps in your cooking, crafting, forging, etc.

    -The Bad-
While the game is good with the positives the negatives is what really drops this games score down:

-This is the big sting to this game. One this is a gacha game first and foremost since made by a Chinese developer nuff said. The character rates in this game is really bad with 5* characters having a 0.6%, 4* Characters and weapons being 5.1% and the rest filled by useless 3* weapons. This alone is the largest stink of the game since you would like to play the characters more than get useless gear that will just end up being used to level up your better 4* weapons that you craft or get unluckily out of the gacha. There is a pity system where every 10 pulls give you a 4* anything but it takes roughly 100 pulls to get a 5* while that does not sound bad the next worse thing on this is next.

-Lacking ways to get primogems which is the currency needed to do your gacha pulls. The rates used to be 5-10 per chest opened in beta but on release they nerfed it through the ground where common chest you get nothing and every other chest just tiers up from 2,5, and 10 based on chest rarity. All this to funnel you to spend nearly $200 usd to get that 5* pity pull since the price for the premium currency which converts to primogems on a 1 to 1 basi. A streamer even spent $2k irl money to get the chracter he wanted and then you have to turn around and pull them 6 more times to level their constellation 4* not much an issue if you get banner for them come up but terrible if you want to level the 5*.

The limiting system is also bad since it gates the 28+ game really hard. You only get 120 resin with barely any consumables to replenish it besides the ones you get for level up you can only use once. And doing dungeons to get stuff cost 20 resin to run while mini world bosses cost 40 and big bosses cost 60 and you only fight them once per week. It also costs $10 to use the 6 recoveries you are allowed to with primogems.

-Chests in game all drop garbage items besides a few select. You do get better rarities at higher world levels but it still ends up as all garbage for endgame and only reason to open them is increase AR.

This is a great game, which unfortunately its censorship and gacha mechanics ruin it. I wouldn't mind paying 40 or 50 box for this game, it deserves it, but seeing people paying from 5k to 10k to get the characters that they want… that's just insane! No game is worth that money no matter how beautiful its world is or how great its characters are.
If you go for the F2P route you won’t be disappointed, the game will be more challenging but it will feel more rewarding. Just please bear in mind that it might take up to a year to get the characters that you want because you will have to grind and grind hard.

Yes, the Gatcha and stamina mechanics are there, but I don't get why people are scoring this game only based on their exsistance, and not on how they are implemented. You can aquire new characters with better skills than others with the Gatcha system, but it's not the only way of getting them (some are currently only obtainable through the Gatcha but the game is only 2 months old and already there are have been about 2-3 events every month where you can easily get those, and the amount of characters only obtainable through Gatcha decreases.).
The stamina system doesn't prevent you from doing much of anything in a single day, it prevents you from repeating the same mission 10 times a day to get the best loot, preventing balancing problems. Every other quest which you get either daily, with a certain level or just by exploring the world do not require this stamina.
I don't get why people act like this is just another scam gatcha game. There's clearly a lot of effort put into this game and the Gatcha rules are clearly stated, and seem to actually behave as stated.

If you don't pay attention to the retarded story and annoying voice acting, there's a pretty well-defined gameplay loop with reasonably satisfying physics that would really REALLY benefit from being able to actually co-op the game instead of just killing stuff together. It's obvious the developers care about the game more than any other freemium pay-to-win mobile shovelware, with around ten trillion hours of reading if you actually care about the paper-thin plot and characters. Their premium (P2W) currency isn't terribly priced and doesn't really do much aside from give you good gear, however they have methods through which you can get those items without paying, so nothing remains exclusive. Even if the characters lore is shallow, each one feels like they could be viable and are very fun to use if given the proper gear and levels. The combat is really satisfying, usually requiring you to use a mixture of ranged and melee attacks kind of like the combat for Horizon: Zero Dawn. It's not a masterpiece but it's definitely a fun game with caring developers. Expand

At first I would definitely have pushed an 9/10.

But now, I am extremely divided between whether MiHoYo wants to create a favorable universe to all kind of players, or is completely obsessed with money.

After initiating my critical awareness and thinking three times about it, I realized that something is very wrong.

Never forget this is a Gacha and sadly one with the worst possible rates and very expensive, those who enjoy the world at its full potential are the same ready to spend thousands of dollars, or the luckiest free to play players, and yet they tried to target a larger audience? Lel.

Who thinks as a free to play player, that farming a whole month for nothing when it comes to pull Gacha for new content was a good idea? Do they hate us that much for not paying enough?

Before going to the positive stuff we have to speak about the negative content.

    - Terrible rates.
    - Pity system not so pity.
    - Cannot target lock.
    - Cannot skip cutscenes... (lucrative reasons).
    - Cannot reroll secondary stats with the artifacts (for example we could use resin to reroll secondary stats).
    - Artifact sets do not have the same drop rate within dungeons.
    - Artifact sets drop rate terribly unbalanced (one set may loot too much often than another), as it’s not hard enough having the right main and secondary stats.
    - No global playing time indication.
    - User ID always shown at the bottom right corner.

And now for the good part!

An amazing work has been done to the universe, it is a pleasure to explore what the world has to offer.

The characters are very charismatic, weeb oriented design and yet really well developed in their story and personality!

The voice cast is really good and for the first time of my life I have a preference for Chinese dub in a video-game!

The freedom of movement (walk, run, swim, and climb) with the fluidity of the animation powered by Unity Engine makes it a true pleasure for exploration and the rp aspect, and did I mention you can soar in the air with your glider?

The variety of artifacts and weapons gives you the opportunity to make diverse loadouts to maximize firepower of your party.

You can coop with your friends for much more pleasure!

In conclusion, the game could be compared to a jewel stuck in a haystack, the hay is the Gacha, remove it or improve it, and there you have your 9/10 game! But for now (although it's a pain in the ass to say that) there is no way it can score more than a 7/10.

-Navigating it is too slow due to limited stamina, aside from giving more stamina I think there should be 2 stamina bars, one for climbing and one for running at least
-Somewhat clunky and not too smooth gliding mechanic

    -Lack of good multiplayer
-You need to drop a couple of days into playing the game before you even unlock any multiplayer
-Basically forget playing with friends in any real capacity outside of **** around for no reason given many many limitation put on multiplayer (you can only join worlds of others that are X level, you dont share many types of loot you can find around the hosts world at all, you cant go through the story together with someone and so on...)

    -Gacha
-Relatively generous gifts during launch week
-Very very low droprates (if you're f2p forget max tier troops ever dropping)
-No guarantee system which you can use to buy any troop/weapon you want after pulling X amount of times meaning you might play for months and months if not years never getting what you actually wanted (it doesnt need to be too easy to earn that, it can take a month of two of play for example, look at the mileage system in Guardian Tales)

    TL:DR
The game basically plays like your average MMORPG except you grind endlessly towards a character/weapon that you no only didnt design but may not even like/want (welcome to gacha). Another problem to the empty feeling world that the MMO wouldnt have is the actual multiplayer aspect of it, here you just follow the generic chosen one trope main questline totally alone in that big world making the game pretty pointless to anyone who doesnt want to play it purely for its initial world exploration and gameplay. But again given that 70% of gameplay is running for 4 seconds before your stamina depleats > walk until it fills up > repeat, 20% of gameplay is navigating game menus and the rest of that, 10% or less is actual combat which is not that bad but nothing too incredible either.

Check out gameplay/characters/world online, if you like any of it then try the game out given that its free and fun at the start, enjoy while it lasts and uninstall if/when it gets boring.

Compared to Tencent and Netease or other mobile game developers, I would say Mihoyo makes better games, period. To be honest, I enjoy this game more than BOTW.

HOWEVER, those who gave 10 out of 10 are just hilarious and biased, and I guarantee most of them are scams, or those players aren't reaching lv30 by now. Daily quests are extremely repetitive, and the whole open world is lack of re-exploration contents. This game IS a p2w game (a Chinese mobile game developer, what else do you expect?), and it has not one, not two, not three, not four, but five monetization systems, four of which are extremely profitable (battle pass, monthly subscription, skins (upcoming patch), and the gacha system (0.6% for 5-star characters OR weapon in one pool? Are you serious?). Several characters are vital for your experience (i.e., Wendy, Diruc, and Keqing), and their lower-tier substitutions are nowhere as good as they are. The main character (5-star) is underpowered, and several 4-star/5-star characters are also useless or underpowered except some specific mechanics in the game (yeah I am talking to you, Amber and Jean). Also, poor optimization for phones (so I don't know why people are rating 10/10 if they are playing on a phone). Poor rewards for explorations, quests, or even battle pass.

I don't think this game deserves a score of 0/1 or 9/10 to be honest. Let's see if the operation designer can handle the game better (they screwed up the mid-autumn fest and Chinese national day, there isn't any event and Chinese players are pissed off).

The world of MMOs gets bigger and bigger and this has good reasons namely discovering an unknown never ending world, fighting the toughest battles, being connected with people from the whole world and developing your own character whereas you identify yourself with him.
A few years ago i heard about Genshin Impact but at the first glance i wasn't interested in it because as far as i understood it was a Single Player MMO or something what i have found weird.
Last week it got my attention again and following the quote "The taste comes with eating" i gave it a shot.

The intro starts with a brother and sister who have mighty personalities but an enemy appeared. Now you can choose to be the brother or the sister. Depends on your decision you will be separated from your family and then the journey begins.

In your journey a cute and adorable mystic girl named Paimon accompany you in order to find and save your family. In the meantime you meet many peoples and stories what give Genshin Impact a recognizable face.

The World is quite huge and detailed. I saw two cities and especially the second city which has real asian style was very beautiful and invites you to stay there even longer. The Flora and Fauna is also well integrated into the world whereas the weather conditions have a negative impact on your health.

I like the anime-style and the characters i just met are detailed and are irreplaceable characters

The soundtrack is very cool and contains an asian-flair that creates a deepening and serious atmosphere in Genshin Impact. The composer really knows what he is doing. The music still is in my mind what confirms the right choice of the soundtrack.

Right now i'm in the prologue so i can't tell too much concerning the story. What i can tell is that the family that you try to save could become your enemy. The other thing is that the enemy who appeared in the intro seems to have a personal interest in you but it is not clear what she is really up to. These elements cause question marks and that's why following the story line is motivating.

You are in a Four-Man-Squad and you fight the battle with one person whereas you can switch easily to the other warrior. There is basic-attack, special-attack and a very special-attack but there seems to be no counter-attack. Every warrior has a different style and how to attack. It is right that you can develop your own character very very far while you can unlock certain talents. Unfortunately your character cannot learn more new attacks.
In connection to this kind of Development and Battle-System the Gacha-System takes a huge and important place in Genshin Impact. There are many characters that you can get in the Gacha-System whereas you can another characters through certain story-lines. But i have to admit that the fighting style of the characters in the Gacha-System is more interesting and refined than the other ones you can get in the story itself. The Gacha-System offers three banners which includes 4- and 5-Stars characters. I noticed that mainly the 5-Stars characters can cause a very-special-attack with an animation while i love the animation-attacks.

Well, now we come to an issue with what many Genshin-Warriors have a problem. In order to get these 5-Stars characters you have to spend for example about 150-200 € in one banner. You have to draw a 10x-Ticket (in Genshin Impact it is called: Prayer) about 9-10 times to get a 5-Stars Character whereas there is a high chance that you get 4-Stars Characters. We are lucky that there is a pity-system or else it would be even worse. The problem is that you can draw a character you already have. In such cases you can get an exchange. You also get other kind of coins which you can spend at the Tradesman.
My point of view is that it is reasonable to get the necessary money so that you can finance Genshin-Impact, new projects like "Zenless Zone Zero", the company, the employees and even the cleaning ladies. Paying at maximum 50-60 € per month would be very fair but not 150-180 €. To be honest, i just checked if there is some sort of a subscription-pass like in other MMO and yes there is one. You can get a pass for about 10,99 € and you can get a subscription for 4,99 € where u can get the necessary coins day for day. This pass for about 10 € is available at Adventurer-Level 20.
This seems to be fair but nevertheless the users are very frustrated of the Gacha-System anyway. So seeing it in a long term i cannot tell if the pass is the solution of the whole Gacha-Issue.

It would be useful to create a subscription-pass with a price of 10 to maximum 50-60 € per month and depending how much you pay you can get more coins for buying the tickets. So it would be great that if you pay 50-60 €, you get more than 12000 crystal coins for drawing the 10xTickets. I think this kind of concept could lower the frustration-grade of the Genshin-Warrior.

    Conclusion: 7/10

The core gameplay is great, you can combine different elements and do combination attacks, use the environment against the enemies and have fun, but the grinding is ridiculous, and the only way to unlock new characters is by either buying them with real money or getting them through a "lootbox" mechanic.

There isn't really an actual story, or rather... it's not very engaging and important, but there are indeed main quests, side quests and challenges but they barely differ.

Multiplayer mode is also not working very well, only the host of the lobby can properly interact with the world.

In the end it's merely a good game, it looks and plays very well but it gets boring after a while, and if you want a change of pace then you'll have to deal with gacha mechanics.

    Final Rating: "Good" ~ 7/10.

The story of the game is just a miss or hit, some are good, others are not. One thing annoying is the amount of unnecessary dialogues this game has that doesn't add anything to the stories or the event and it is just an annoying thing between you and 60 free primogens that 80% of the time is just worth it 1/3 of a wish that you get a literally useless 3* weapon.

Many people complain about the gatcha system and I agree it sucks sometimes. I had my bad moments but also has lucky moments. I like this system simply because I am 100% F2P and honestly I have all characters that I need to beat any challenge in this game and if I managed to get this without paying 1 cent, at least for me, this system worked just fine so I don't have any reason to complain. I think people have to know, they can't have all characters in the game. They need 2 top-tier DPS and pull for good supports only.

The combat system is cool, many people say they don't like the Spiral Abyss, I like it. I pretty much always get 36* on every abyss reset, not because 50 primogens are a great reward (they are trash) but because I like the challenge that only floor 12 (and sometimes floor 11) bring to the game. I always wanted more content like Spiral Abyss or new floors but Mihoyo never brought it. It is a shame, so I can only play Spiral Abyss every 2 weeks.

The exploration of this game is one of my favorite parts. I like to solve puzzles and explore the world and the maps of this game is really beautiful. It is a shame that the content ends so fast.

The graphics of this game are ok, the models of the characters are kinda bad, they lack models of musculus type of characters. Actually, they pretty much only have 3 models of characters, child characters, teen characters and adult characters. All are slim.

The combat is action with around two special powers. Really engaging. There are camera strange placements at times. The levelling mechanics is the frustrating part. Those of the characters are super fast and you gonna miss a lot of items to ascend. The adventure rank is another one, which is super slow (on purpose to make you buy, of course). After you reach level 20 with adventure rank the story abruptly halt, and you have to grind your way around. Then is goes again at 24, and to reach 26, it would take days/weeks of boring tasks.

World quest do exist but they are not on the map, which makes them hard to find. I don't like a levelling system that is broken in two parts like that. It makes everything more complex then managing a character or a party. I must say there is a lot of nice RPG stuff too. Like cooking, creating potions, making or upgrading weapons. There is no real armours, only accessories of 6 types that you can upgrade. The under layers of upgrades are rich, no doubt about that. But there is a lack of simplicity, in my opinion.

    I give it a 62%. It's free and fun.

Update: I have lower my score. The story doesn't move after level 25 and everything revolve around grinding. Since the game is only a partial product it's not surprising, but the way the grinding works isn't that fun. I heard about resin, that seems even worst. I have uninstalled the game, and I would be surprised if I ever go back again. Beating elite bosses 3 times to get a level item, isn't my idea of fun.
And there was a credit card fraud after I bought into that game. 20 days after (no transactions after that). You draw your conclusion on the safety of their servers or employees. No support for that.

Ever since Nintendo pioneered BotW's free-roam action RPG, people have craved for more. Sadly, with BotW being a Nintendo exclusive, a void has been left unfilled for the longest time. However, today, miHoYo has delivered. If you've never played BotW before, this game is a decent way to experience it.

The game has fluid 60 FPS gameplay, a clean interface, a rich story, multiple characters, and a world more lush and with less empty land than BotW's.

Now you may be wondering: If Genshin is that good, why is it not a 10? The reason for that is simple. It is a blatant copy of BotW with added content and level barriers that limit the free roam aspect.

Nothing disincentivizes adventuring more than opening up the map and seeing that you're not high enough level to go anywhere. miHoYo should've granted the player complete freedom, as it was one of the defining features that made BotW great. But now you're forced to follow the story and grind levels.

Genshin Impact doesn't cost a penny, in theory. This alone warrants a good rating for the game. It comes with cross-platform co-op if you want to play with others as well. However, the typical mobile game inconveniences will eventually get to you.

No "free to play" mobile game can be truly free after all since the company needs to make money in the end. This game is designed to have microtransactions since it is a mobile game at heart. If you can look beyond that, it's not a bad game to try.

An important thing to understand with this sort of game is that you shouldn't treat it as a job. Don't be consumed by the game as it can get addictive. Even for someone like me who loves to get maximum value out of things, it can be hard to realise that you just gotta take that L and let go. Stop playing for a few weeks, a patch or more. Wait until something like an event, character or new region comes to reignite your passion for the game.

Now to the not so great stuff. Having Gacha mechanics in a (mainly) single player open world RPG is an embarrassment to the genre. Imagine playing Skyrim and instead of getting a cool Daedric weapon from finishing a special questline, you could only get that weapon by getting lucky and spending IRL money. It's dumb to have in a game like this at all, regardless of how necessary it is to progress or not.

Speaking of progression, while working through the main story, I got to a part where I could not continue until I hit a certain "Adventure" level. Again, this is something that should not even be in an open world RPG. You should be free to explore and take on whatever quests whenever you want, not be roadblocked because you haven't hit some arbitrary level. This is actually what made me uninstall the game in the end.

While the combat was interesting with its use of different elements and their interactions with each other, I did not enjoy how each character you unlock can only use one type of weapon. It felt tedious to have to level and equip each character individually just because you want to be able to switch weapons and not get bodied by enemies.

The story wasn't anything special/compelling, but it could get better later on so I won't judge it too harshly here. You also get stuck with an annoying guide NPC that follows you around and talks in the third person.

Overall, I would say this is a middle of the pack PC game, but a top tier mobile game (depending on how well it runs on phones). It is super polished and has plenty of potential, but does not hit the mark for me. The point of open world games should be to freely explore the world you are in, and the roadblocks presented within this game, with level requirements and relying on Gacha mechanics to get the best gear/characters, keep it from reaching that level of freedom seen in other games within the genre.

6/10 I'm convinced the only reason this game is getting so much hype is because it is free and has cute anime girls in it.

JUST based on that alone, a free game that can make me have fun for a hundred hours, I absolutely love this game. it's even more fun time than some "AAA" games that I've paid 60$ for.

BUT, once you hit this grindy wall, it's going to suck really hard. (for me, it's around 100 hrs in, or around AR35+) this is in version 1.0. maybe it's gonna be longer in future version, but it's going to be there waiting for you if mihoyo decided to keep this practice. If you drop the game at this point, then it's gonna be a very positive experience for you, but if you decide to stick through it and power through the grind, then you'll see the glaring flaw that this "PC" game has. resin wall, mats wall, mora wall, exp wall, etc. and you'll have less fun overall. this is why I'm giving this game a 6/10. lucky for me I didn't spend a single dime on this game, or I'd rate it 0/10. I may change the review in the future if anything drastic happens, but I don't think it's very likely

-Large, beautiful open world that is fun to explore in the beginning.
    -Excellent musical background

    Minuses:
-Gacha. Nothing can justify the loot box mechanic.
-Primogems for gacha in the game is farmed very slowly. There was more on beta, but the drop from chests was reduced at release.
-After completing all the quests, there is only a boring grind 30-40 minutes a day.
-Energy system (resin) strongly inhibits character development at a high level. The developers clearly want players to donate for energy replenishment. For example, to ascent character on 70 lvl, you need 12 resources from bosses, they only drop 2 (rarely 3), most likely you will have to kill the boss 5 or 6 times, and this is at least 200 resin, more than one day of generation. And you have 4 characters. And you also need to get money for this resin, res for character exp, skill books.
-It is very difficult to change the character or weapon in the lategame. You will have to spend a lot of resin on the character, and you can only get weapon enhancement materials by running all over the map and collecting crystals. Also, you can get a lot of additional resources from the Battle Pass (and even this won't solve all problems). So experimenting with builds is problematic. Pick one and play with it.
-Mihoyo doesn't really listen to players. They promised to add a couple of the requested mechanics (like blocking the artifact so as not to accidentally throw it out), but instead of increasing the rate of resin generation, they just increased its maximum storage (which is useless with constant play). They are clearly not going to increase the very low drop rate of 5 * characters (0.6%). At the same time, it is really good to get some characters several times (for example, Klee almost certainly needs the first constellation), the cost of loot boxes is quite high. The respawn time of the chests is also clearly not going to increase (you can forget about the game for a month, and even a half of the chests in the world will not be respawned).

If you have a question "what's the problem with spending another 1-2 weeks and power up more characters?" Answer: Adventurer rank. With it, the level of the world grows, the main source of growth: 4 daily quests and resin. If you try to spend resin on many characters at once, then the world level will grow, and you do not have strong enough characters, the difficulty of the game will grow until you catch up with the world level, spending all resources on 4 main characters. You can power up one new character, but even 8 (for the abyss) is a problem.

This game has potential, but version 1.0 has too many flaws. I don't expect a lot of content from the service game on release, but these disadvantages are too obvious.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. early gameplay (first 30-40H) is great, I think it's mostly agreed, and then it's empty. So it's pretty much just a beta.
My opinion is to treat it as any other betas. We play it out, we uninstall it, we wait for the next version, end of story.
Forget about the dailies, it's a single player game, you are not competing anyone or catching up anything, dailies would do nothing helpful but make you bored.
Play it out, uninstall it, wait a half year, play it out, uninstall it, repeat this, I ensure you, you could enjoy the game itself but not be fooled by the company behind it.
Oh, most important thing: DO NOT SPENT A DIME IN IT!

Beautiful World that engaging at first, but things get repetitive later on.

What i don't like about this game is : Latency. Why they're putting "latency" on a single-player game like this? Look, if we're playing or talking about co-op mode, then it's pretty much reasonable that we should bear with the latency. But nope, even on single-player mode we even get this "latency" thingy, and

Look, if we're playing or talking about co-op mode, then it's pretty much reasonable that we should bear with the latency. But nope, even on single-player mode we even get this "latency" thingy, and this is annoying because ALL of your action are server-sided, means if you have high latency, means our movement is slower and sluggish. I've experience 100ms, 200ms, and 300ms+ gameplay, thanks to my ISP. You'll have no problem when you has less than 100ms latency obviously. It's getting somewhat annoying to play this game at 200-300ms+. Try it yourself, but if you don't feel any difference, then you're somewhat ignorant.

Resin system is no good too, because the regeneration rate is way too slow (20 Hours/160 Resin). Not to mention we spend it all in less than 30mins daily. I know this is to prevent the players from progressing too fast (please don't call it resin-management 101), but hey that's bad idea because:
    1. Resin are NOT used for collecting materials alone (20/Run)
    2. Leyline EXP Card & Mora need resin (20/Run)
    3. Weekly Bosses also need resin (60/Run)
    4. How about artifact? (20/Run)

Speaking of artifact, they should make weekly bosses to 100% drop random *5 artifact when you've reach at least AR45, otherwise i find it pretty useless for the players to raise their AR. Not to mention the prototype drop rate is pretty random too for a weekly event. For daily domain, it's pretty cool to get 100% drop of random *5 said artifact when you're at least AR45. If you can apply it for the daily domain, i don't think it's that hard to apply this for the weekly bosses, too.

Another one is levelling your favorite character which consume A LOT of EXP Card and Mora. Let's say i want to raise my Fischl from Lv. 80 -> Lv. 90, which cost me around 700.000 Mora. Assuming i got 60.000 Mora / 20 Resin, this will need around 240 Resin.

How about EXP Card (Hero's Wit) i need for leveeling my Fischl from Lv. 80 -> Lv. 90? I need at least roughly 170 Hero's Wit. Assuming i get 5 Hero's Wit / 20 Resin, this will need around 680 Resin, which is approximately 4 days for 1 character. Fun fact, the dmg increase is not even reach 5%.

What irritates me the most is the Constellation System. Hey, i know the devs need to make money too, but what's the point of the game when we can't even play the characters to it's full potential? *5 Character has low drop rate, too. Instead of limiting characters full potential, why the devs won't CAP the damage of said characters? It'll be a win-win situation for both the players and devs. The F2P can enjoy the game to it's fullest (Even though has lower damage with F2P equipment as the consequences), while the whales can literally draw even more powerful premium equipment.

Anyway, i've stopped playing this game this February because i feel it's like a boring chores.
P.S : I don't have any problem/salt with the gacha itself because i play what i want for fun. Just dropping some honest opinion about this game, hoping it'll better in near future. Thanks for reading :)

Genshin Impact a game that tries to appease otakus and normies but ends up pleasing none

I have been playing Genshin Impact everyday since it came out and the game has a lot of potential but the resin system, lack of content and too many filler updates (festivals being dropped too often) holds the game back. The story on Genshin Impact is nothing out of the ordinary but is fun to experience it and there's nothing to lose if you plan on just being a F2P player. The gameplay is simple, fun and the open world is beautiful with a lot of stuff to explore. The game has some co op features like being able to join someone else world and explore it and also the ability to play domains (dungeons) in co op mode were you kill mobs to obtain certain rewards as long you have enough resin.

I have to admit that exploration on Genshin Impact is really good and you feel like there's always something new to do, however when you complete the story and do every side quest possible is when the game begins to fail. On Genshin Impact there's a system known as "resin" which is basically a stamina system. In order to make progress on the game you need to use resin for the rewards to drop. Once the resin runs out you are basically left without anything to do and the open world will feel empty as you cannot make any progress without resin. Playtime on Genshin Impact is reduced to basically 20 minutes per day as everything that makes you progress requires the use of resin.

Genshin Impact as of right now lacks end game content which doesn't help much and most updates that drop are basically filler "festivals" that have little progress on the story. Not to mention that most of the mini games during the festivals are basically straight off rip off from other existing games. If you plan on playing this game for a long time, dropping cash is required if you desire to obtain a certain character.

Now for the censorship topic. Genshin Impact is made by a company whose slogan is "otakus tech saves the world" but those words don't hold much. The developers of this game tend to make a bait and switch with characters already being presented. If you see a certain character introduced, you can bet that the final design will be "adjusted". For example a character know as Rosaria was introduce as an NPC and a few updates later said character becomes a playable character. However the character goes from the largest bust in the game to the smallest one from the tall female cast. I'm not sure why would developers change the appearance of existing characters on a waifus & husbando game.

Overall good game but the lack of content, censorship and developers not listening to the players feedback, might may you think twice and look for an alternative.

Not bad MMORPG,but have some problems : monotonous and boring gameplay, like: went a long way for the quest, talked go back to the nine lands, or take some item on the quest and again go back almost to the end of the location, and it's a little annoying.

As a Genshin Impact player since the release, I've dropped the game since January 2021 for a couple of reasons:
    - The game has a terrible Gacha System, it is even worse than EA loot box, you need to pull 90 times to guarantee a 5-star character, but here is the bad news: you only have 50% of that 5-star to be your favorite characters, lots of time you will be surrounded by unfavourite
As a Genshin Impact player since the release, I've dropped the game since January 2021 for a couple of reasons:
    - The game has a terrible Gacha System, it is even worse than EA loot box, you need to pull 90 times to guarantee a 5-star character, but here is the bad news: you only have 50% of that 5-star to be your favorite characters, lots of time you will be surrounded by unfavourite 5-star characters, some even useless, some even not in your taste and you will leave them in the "Storage". To have 90 pulls, you need to pay approximately 200 US dollars, and the game still does not guarantee your wanting characters, you will need to pay another 200 US dollars to pull 90 times more to guarantee the "chosen one". For F2P, you will need to play every day for a whole month to have 90 pulls, and if you are not lucky enough, you will need to grind for another next month. The rate of 5-star character is 2%, so if the system works properly then the guarantee at 60 pulls is perfectly reasonable, but no, Mihoyo decided to TRIPLE that number.

    - The second issue with the game is the unbalance of characters. You may say "Hey but it is clearly true for every game to have higher rare units stronger than the lower ones right?". The reality in the game is different: There are multiple 4-star characters, who are supporters, are even stronger than the 5-star version of them. For example: Barbara is a 4-star healer and she did equally, if not better than 5-star healer Qiqi. Another example is 5-star "electro" Keqing, she is terrible weak that except someone like her design and her voice, no one uses her, even Keqing-hardcore are desperately demanding miHoyo to buff Keqing but after half of a year, nothing changes, except they bring ANOTHER 5-STAR "ELECTRO" CHARACTER who is straightly stronger and Keqing, another bad news for Keqing is her "signature weapon" is now being used by the new character "Baal", when something is called "signature" in the game, it means that "signature" item will boost the character to the highest potential power but now, Keqing can't even have a proper "Signature weapon". The "imbalance" of "elements" is also a big problem too, "electro" is too weak because they don't have a strong DPS (Keqing is too weak though), the "elemental reaction" also does not favor "electro" and when I said "not favor", I mean it is completely useless: You have a reaction of "hydro" + "electro" deal little amount of damage, you have "pyro" (fire) + "electro" deal "pyro damage", you have "cryo" (ice) + "electro" reduce enemies' physical resistance. None of them truly increase the electro DPS. While look at Pyro reaction with "Cryo", the damage output will be double, I know it feels crazy but yes if that ability, which having a pyro element, attacks into a "cryo" enemy, the damage will be DOUBLE. Another problem about Genshin is unbalanced lore, some characters never find any show: Xinyan is a severe case: she has dark brown skin, her style is rock and she finds nowhere in the story, one small side quest, that's all, after 6 months, after a whole 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5... 2.0 patch, Xinyan is still nowhere, no one plays her, no one raises her, just because she is rock style? she is black skin? (Not gonna lie Keqing although has "white skin" and kind of not accepting the "Vision" so maybe that's the reason why Mihoyo does not buff her?) (Vision is a "gift from God" to the "chosen one" so they could use "element" according to that god. Keqing's lore describes her as a hard-working assistant and never accepts talent or god's gift, she even tries to destroy the "vision".)

    - The third reason is the scale system: you have 240 "energy" per day, and you need to farm a lot of "dungeon" to have material for your characters: you need around 2 weeks to a month of grinding to have a "proper" gear for ONE character, the upgrade system is also RNG, some cases report no useful gear for 2 months. After finishing the main quest, explore the whole map, you will spend 2 weeks to a month grinding and waiting for the next patch and you need to do it every day, for Genshin Players, they can't bear seeing "energy" full because each "energy" is so valuable, but also, forcing you to play the game even when there is nothing new, yes, you still need to grind every day.

The character design is also under criticism:
+ The characters are mainly "white skin", "big eyes", "similar characterism", "similar skill move set", "similar style",etc.
+ The future characters are always stronger, more op, more relevant than the previous characters: future characters also have stronger DPS, stronger healer, stronger support kit, weaker weakness, or even no weakness at all. The marketing strategy of miHoyo is terrible: they create more OP characters so players will spend more money to get them. In Genshin, you can "promote" a character by using multiple copies of themselves. The maximum "promotion" is C6, which means you need 6 copies to maximize it = 2000$.

Blood, sweat and tears. All of those were poured into gaining 2000 priogems. To get what? Beido. TWo times. In a SINGLE 10 pull. Whats even worse.. is that I already had her. I even did 9 1 pulls. But got nothing, NOTHING good. I am in pure rage, **** tears, and sobbing. I comand an apology, for making me waste my priogems only to get the same character twice.

    Sincerely, gay genshin impact fan.

The game looks really good, and the music is impressive too. But I never got to engaged to the game.

The story, at least what I played, seems bland and just a excuse to do missions. Also, the gameplay itself feels very repetitive, seems more like a RPG than a game like BoTW when you're fighting monsters. But the major reason why is this only a 6 is that, the whole game is covered

Rather than a typical online game, Genshin Impact resembles a traditional single-player jRPG with a real-time combat. For a free-to-play title it is very impressive, but turns out to be pretty derivative and quickly slumps into monotony. [13/2020, p.52]

Oh, the joy of exploring this beautiful world. Oh, the clever combat, the great voice acting, the compelling story. This is one of the best RPGs of the year. And it’s almost beyond comprehension that you can get it for free.

Overall, in spite of things that should bring Genshin Impact down, the game is so much fun to play that the negatives are ultimately minor gripes. [...] The gameplay is smooth and simplistic, and it works great on all platforms - though I’m still not sure why the PlayStation version can’t be linked to a Mihoyo account so I could play on my phone when I’m not at home (PS Vita version please??) but it’s a small gripe to an otherwise terrific game.
