But now the perception of MIHOYO has completely changed.
I think it is wrong to be criticized for being a Chinese company.
Many people blame the gacha system.
Anyone who really enjoyed this game knows that the gacha system is not a necessity but a choice.
And if you enjoy the game, you get many opportunities to play Gacha for free.
There is no competitive element in this game, so you can enjoy it at your own pace.
With gacha provided for free, the game can clear all the content.

    Dear gaming community,

I am playing Genshin Impact since the version 1.3 and i have enjoyed it from the beginning. The beginning is a bit tuff cause a the Level barriers between the Archon-/Storyquests. In the older versions of the game this was a big issue. But as it is now the Map is almost four times the size of the original map if not even bigger. For today there is no problem at all to reach the required Levels to get to the next Archonquest.

Many people will see the Gacha feature of Genshin as a big Issue, but in my oppinion it is just a way to slow down the pace of getting new characters. Nowadays i really like it to farm for the new Characters.

The Map additions that came in the last three years are just great. Almost from every climate zone in the world there is a region for. Not only forest and mountains, also Ice hills, desert, cliffsregion, jungle and many more beautiful looking locations excist in this game.

This game ist perfect for everyone that likes a great MMORPG with an animestyle where they have to grind to get forward in the story and build their character

As it is a mostly single-player game and does not have a competitive mode, the gacha system ends up being very inviting to f2p players. Spending money is optional and not required to complete game content.

Note: it has a TCG included which is also extremely fun! It deserved a separate app just for it.

For a F2P game, this is one of the best I have ever played. Not all is good though. The resing system (the timer) has issues and needs to be evaluated. There is not much content for the endgame portion, once you hit Adventure Level 35 you can feel there is a wall that you won't be able to surpass even if you spend some money in terms of content. The game is only one-month-old so I think this won't be an issue in the long run and I expect this to be solved with future updates. I'm more worried about the problems with the resin system, which can fixed easily, but I don't know if Mihoyo is willing to. They already got their money back, what if they just want to keep making money the same way they are making it right now? I'm not very hopeful about changes to the resing system and this could destroy the game in the short run. For now, it is good enough.

However, if you have the self-control to view this game as a fun way to spend some time to explore the world, get some items/characters with your free rolls, and progress a decent anime-ish story, then you'll really enjoy this game. The world is fun to explore. The combat is pretty simple but enjoyable enough.

But here's the key: do NOT view this as your new, long-term-forever game in which you will reach maximum possible power with all of the unlocks. That's where the **** gacha / resin system comes in. Play through the story, use your free wishes, level a few characters, open up the map......then stop! It's okay to stop! They will probably release more content down the road that you will be able to enjoy, then stop again. Just because they put MOAR POWER in the game doesn't mean you have to unlock all of it (and spend all the money) to enjoy it. Play this game until it feels like you are no longer enjoying it or can't make reasonable progression, then take a break until they release more conntent. That's the key to really enjoying this game.

The combat system is also really well-done, especially when you're still figuring out how all of the elemental reactions work and how you can string your party's attacks together.
Other than that the story is pretty good, graphics look nice, and the soundtrack is stellar. The characters are very likable as well, and their "character quests" are some of the best quests in the game.

One glaring issue that the game does have, though, is that it's a gacha game. First of all, this means any new character is unlocked through lootboxes. If you're a free to play player, you will gradually unlock lootboxes through normal gameplay and be able to unlock more and more characters, but you'll never be able to unlock every single character you want. This, though, isn't really a problem since you'll have more than enough characters to use in your team - you just won't have all of them.

The real issue with the gacha is that it will limit how much stronger you can make your characters per day (this includes simply levelling them up). In the beginning of your journey this won't be a problem since there's plenty of exploring & questing to do outside of just training your characters. Eventually though, you'll run out of content and training your party is the only thing you'll have left to do, but you can only actually do so for around 10 minutes a day. The game will try to keep you hooked with a constant stream of events that give decent rewards to strengthen your team a bit faster.

I give this game a 9 for how incredible the main game is with its satisfying exploration and combat system, but be aware that once you have explored most of the world and completed all of the main & side quests, you won't have anything left to do but grind and the game will turn into a daily slog. I recommend you to play every big content update as they come out, and just ignore all of the grinding and min-maxing you can do - since it's a tedious daily grind.

Good story for the "first chapter". Good quests. Good graphics for the world that is interactive enough to give you goosebumps cause I have seen no free games that is consists of so much game mechanics and visuals that is not only the texture. Like the game itself took me as free player month just like snap and I still want to explore Teivat, gather resources, enjoy the view and things realized in the world.

The wind, the sky, the clouds... everything is alive and feels so forgotten in the game world of the games.

But as all free gacha games on start it lacks of content especially when you rush things and in the higher AR levels end you meet the chaos of disorganization on how to reward people, how to give them something for their effort and how much energy they need to feel satisfied. I clearly do not understand who decision was to make it 8 mins for 1 energy that it takes 16 hours to replenish fully but that is the rock in the people courtyard. Cause you don't feel that you did something in a day even on higher AR levels. That's why people are in panic to not cap it cause then they waste their efforts. 6 minutes is like enough for normal human to sleep, wake up, see he have energy, waste it, gone to work, come home see he has like good amount of it after work and play for more activities.

IMHO People are bombing the game with negative cause of their vagaries and that they want it to be completely free, give everything to them here and now like the entitled kids do. I see the review bombing has become from the "tool of justice" to the "tool of fulfillment of your own wishes". That's not cool to do with the games by describing your own vagaries. Not the actual reviews.

It features bright and beautiful visuals, fast-paced combat, excellent character designs that manage to straddle the line between pleasing to the eye (aka, girls are THICC) but not a turnoff to the more sensitive members of the audience (apparently). Ripping off a plethora of gameplay elements from Breath of the Wild, it adapts them into its own gameplay loop with flawless execution to make it feel like its own thing. After this, it introduces its rich story through lavish cinematic cutscenes, boss battles, exposition and flavour text the likes of which rivals Skyrim. All this high-quality content at this price point is insane, which is of course why they lure you to spend money on enticing characters that cater to a wide variety of preferences, male or female. That is the monkey's paw in all of this. Thankfully, this monetization model is fairly decoupled from the core campaign, and as has been mentioned often, renders this game very F2P.

After about 40-60 hours of campaign (that will only increase in length in time to come), the game transits into an endgame grind where resources are timegated. However I'd also like to point out that 40 hour single player content that you spent 60 dollars for similarly slows to a grind in the endgame. I'd advise considering the amount of campaign content you get for how much money you're spending and let that influence your propensity to play this game.

This means that I can't really play the game along with the other 80% of people who use Intel processors. Another thing I enjoyed about this game is that it provides its player base with a genuine challenge. I haven't been able to experience these for myself, but I have heard many tales of these treacherous trials being weaved in the technical-help section of the official discord server, while attempting to get a moderator to respond to question (Which is a challenge in of itself). While they are a welcome addition, I feel that some challenges are far too common, for example the 'AHELP MY GAME KEEPS CRASHIGN I HAVE TRIED TURNING GRAPHICS DOWN BUT IT DOESNT WORK HELP' challenge which I've seen popping up regularly. In order to combat the frequency of these 'challenges', the developers went for a week-long holiday upon the games launch. Sadly, I've had to deduct a point since I can't play the game for more than a minute. However, it does LOOK like a pretty good game, and that's more than enough for me. Expand

The first ~30h was really solid, if you enjoyed the exploration in BotW you’ll definitely enjoy these hours. However, once you’ve explored the whole map, there’s not much left for you to do.

The exploration experience is awesome and is superfunny getting lost in this world. Gameplay is funny and enjoyable and it didn't bother me "grinding" to level 40.

doesn't feel p2w, needs at least higher rendering distance, problem is stamina(sprinting, swimming, climbing, gliding and same for all characters, you need to pick collectibles in order to increase total amount of stamina instead of getting some by leveling up a character, which i'd prefer for ease of movement without teleporting all the time), gliding is quite slow

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Playing the game since the third closed beta test has gave me quite some time to admire the flaws and the pros of this game and as such I finally feel like I could make a review.

Please a few notes before I begin: The game is not a ripoff of anything, if you think the opposite then I’ll politely invite you to **** off to your hate forum. Secondly I will not be doing comparisons as Genshin is a masterpiece and there’s no point in comparing it to anything else. Also just a bit of spoilers ahead, like just a bit not too much.

Genshin Impact, the newest game to be released by Mihoyo, the creators of a very well known game Honkai Impact 3rd. Many would think the games are related because same industry and because the word “impact” but Genshin stands as a game with a lore of its own. You start the game with a beautifully animated cutscene and a character selection, twins of different genders separated thanks to a goddess from the world they were visiting. After you choose to save one, the other one is captured and the one you chose falls down to the world.

As the story progresses we will get used to our character being known as “Traveller”, and soon after learning combat mechanics you’ll meet Amber the Outrider, she will introduce to new mechanics and the city of Monstadt.

I will comment on the equipment system which is quite nice actually, you have weapons with different effects and artifacts, there’s many artifact sets that will grant bonuses based on the amount of pieces you have equipped (Headgear, cup, feather, flower and watch). There’s also leveling up and ascension which raises the character level limit. You can level up character skills and when it comes to the traveller, you can even change your elemental Now going onto elements and how they handle them. There’s many elements (Pyro, Dendro, Electro, Hydro, Geo, Anemo and Cryo) and every element has an interaction wit certain elements. I will recommend learning most of them since they’ll make your fights easier than ever. I know many people comment on the gacha system and how “It is predatory” or how “It’s impossible to even use it without paying” and let me tell you that by my personal experience this is the most free to play friendly gacha experience I’ve had in my life, you’ll be rolling the gacha quite often as this game rewards you for being curious, clever, it rewards you for thinking instead of complaining. So yeah the gacha isn’t even needed since you can play without any gacha characters or weapons and have an effective build regardless.

The gameplay is smooth and the fun you can get is pretty much unlimited, there’s always a new place to explore, a boss you want to defeat with this different setup, a build you want to try, a challenge you want to take.

The graphics, the cel shaded art style, the musical score, and the overall look and feel of the game is awesome. The user interface and heads-up display do not feel cluttered and look gorgeous. The game is free to play by the way, but it doesn't make you feel like you're playing a free game. There are no ads (not even in-game pop ups) and frankly their "wish" system (Gacha) and shop doesn't even stand out in the menu. The game is also FREE TO PLAY FRIENDLY. You can play the game without having the need to spend a single dime to enjoy the game. The combat is good. The game encourages players to switch characters in and out mid combat by introducing a system of elemental reactions where each character offers a different element that can create fun and cool reactions when combined with another. The game is not without flaws. But I'll let you find those out for yourself. The game is FREE and is AWESOME. It's worth a try. The game is not without flaws.

From my personal point of view, I hope everyone can play rationally and consider their economic strength! Because I personally played to level 30 without paying, in the following paragraphs, I will evaluate it as a free game.
The first is the advantages-beautiful characters, magnificent cities, beautiful music, relaxed and pleasant plot and style, as a game to kill time, play casually every day, the top level.
However, when we seriously evaluate it as a masterpiece, we will find a lot of loopholes-lack of later gameplay, too short plot, serious homogeneity of monsters, etc. These are fatal shortcomings for a normal game. For genshin impact, they are also important shortcomings, but they are not fatal. why? Because this is a long-term update game with a life cycle of several years. For this reason, although the current experience in the later stage of the game is relatively poor, I will not completely deny this game, but again, I would not consider this to be a good game. Regardless, I look forward to its future performance.

    Cons:

    2. Artifact enhancement is not really optimized (cannot see what artifact are we sacrificing)

This game is worth a solid 8/10 imo. I give it 9 because there are too many 0 scores that do not make any sense. Don't get me wrong however. Many of their complaints are correct, except for those complaining this game is made by Chinese people. It's just not worth a 0 score. I'll list the criticisms that I think are reasonable.

The gacha system is expensive. If you want to pay for a 5-star character, you need to spend ~$200 in general, or you might need to save 2 months of in-game rewards. The gacha system also somehow ruins the immersion. In general games, you can build up relationships with characters. The game will reward you by giving them as playable characters. But in gacha games, you don't. You might unlock characters in gacha even you have no idea who he/she is. You might also want some character because you have a good time with him in the story, but the game says no due to the stupid RNG generator.
The progression system is really bad for hard-core players. Everything requires resin, or stamina if you want to call it. You need them to level up your character. You need them to level up your items. You need them to earn in-game currency. Without it, your exploration in the game does little to the progression. Of course, you can stay in the open world, go around different places, enjoy the scene, and kill some enemies, just like the end game of Breath of the Wild. But it is still annoying. Since there is actually a lot of things the game persuades you to do, but it also forces you to stop. If you want to get a better experience, then pay for it. Unfortunately, this is the natural logic of F2P games that can never be get rid of.

Then why do I still give it 9/10? The simple answer is the overall quality of this game is too good to ignore the cons.
The scene is good. The music is awesome. The combat is fun. The open world design is impressive. And all those contents are actually for free. Believe it or not, the best part of this game is not the expensive character, not the more expensive weapon, but the free content. Sometimes I do not understand why this game gives us its best for free but charges us a lot for the worst. For anyone who wants to enjoy this game, you do not need to pay a single dime, literally. The 5-star characters and weapons are expensive, but you do not need any of them. The game will give you a decent amount of 4-star characters, and those are no less fun than any overpriced 5-star. Exploration in the open world, puzzles and mini-games, and a not-bad storyline are already better than many games that cost you $60. There is no reason I do not recommend this game.

I played all the way from the first day until August without droping a single $. Open world, being expandable with each patch (one and a half month between each one) and great combat system with different elements to use, so there are different approaches u can use to deal damage. Enjoyable story, and if it keeps getting the hype it had for the past year, we have 4 or 5 more regions to be implemented, which means a gigantic map to explore and loot chests, different puzzles, and good side stories to play. Some dude said that he reached Adventure Rank 38 and that he was endgame (XD) but the grinding starts when you reach AR 45, when you start paying attention to stats and Artifacts, the ones that let you do real damage and challenge endgame features, like Spiral Abyss (a kind of endless dungeon that resets every 15 days).
Let's say "bad things": Of course we are talking that this game has gacha features, so there will be characters that you won't be able to get in the short term, but the more common characters that you will use are almost the same in terms of raw damage and being fun to play. So, if you like just to explore and battle doing elemental reactions, and don't mind getting all the d*mn characters in the game, we just get (considering is free to play with these gacha features) one of the top 3 games of 2020, and being one of my favourite options in 2021. Don't rate as a 10 because of course everybody will want to get a 5 star character, 'cause of exclusiveness or whatever, so the game has a system that every 90 wishes you do, you will always get a 5 star before the 91st wish, which i think is great when you compare it to other gacha games. Of course is an anime-styled game, so people may not be so eager to play something like this, and is completely understandable, so it's not for everyone.
So overall, if i had to say, "Would i recommend you to play this game?" Absolutely yes.

About the gacha mechanics, it's very insidious. It tries to bait players by being very generous at the beginning, and then teases you with new heroes, compelling you to buy some Wishes (which are lootboxes of this game). If you can use this fake generosity to your advantage, you can get lots of different heroes and loot free, but if you're susceptible to gambling and prone to addiction, I'd advice you to be very careful. Some people are known to spend thousands of dollars in this game just to get a particular waifu.

Its a good game, really solid gameplay, nice well made open world.
    And great visuals too.

Its a shame its being brought down by such an aggressive pay for power system, build into a super low RNG gatcha system.

if they did away with the gatcha, and implemented a traditional cash store, the game would be much better recieved.

This is like saying that you cannot play your character on WoW or another MMO until it was fully decked out in the highest raid gear available, ignoring the fact that characters are obviously functional well before that point. It's simply not true. The price increases mentioned are not MiHoYo's fault, but are in fact the fault of Apple.

Moving on, this game is charming and has a lovely OST, as well as truly enjoyable gameplay and combat. I typically play the game around 2-4 hours daily without any issue, and I am AR 42. The game is not without issues though. Weekly bosses require in-game energy, and with 1.1 coming, an entire day worth of your energy generation will have to be dedicated to these bosses EVERY WEEK. The events are very sporadic, have poor rewards overall, and there's no daily login rewards, which is completely absurd for a gacha game. In my opinion, the daily tasks should reward just a bit more, and I believe they should reward some energy in addition to the very small amount of primogems (premium currency) they award.

Despite these flaws, I feel as if the game is a quite good experience. Obviously, this game will improve with time, so waiting to play it later when the game is more generous is a solid choice.

Genshin is a pretty good game. I’m not sure if it’s the first game to put a gacha in an open world rpg but it does both well in my opinion. I started the game close to launch, dropped it for a bit, and picked it back up as I saw new characters that interested me. Have been playing consistently for a few months since.

I think the story and quests are decently executed. Depending on your tastes the dialog can be a little bland. But the combat is where it shines. Combining elements of different characters to form reactions that augment your play by either increasing the damage you do, or protecting you from damage with shields is a cornerstone of the gameplay. There are many viable team comps for exploration and abyss and if you manage to pull a lot of characters it can be fun to try different combinations.

A few gripes I have are with the content outside the abyss, which while mihoyo does update the game often with new content, can either be bland, or temporary. I can understand not wanting too much large scale permanent content for now, as the game hints at a possibility of at least 7 major zones (one for each of the seven elements in the game, and of which we have 3 as of version 2.6). However it is a little disappointing and it is nice to see some temporary events make reruns, such as the theater mechanicus. The main sources of endgame content are the aforementioned spiral abyss and exploring the open world to 100%. For those of us who have yet to 36 star the abyss and finish exploration, there is still motivation to play, but I can understand why people get burned out of it.

Before I end this review I have to address the gacha. For the most part, I think the character gacha is mostly fair, as you can get a five star limited character guaranteed in less than 180 rolls. But obviously the problem is getting those rolls, right? Buying a welkin moon for 5 usd, which basically gets you 2700 primogems in 28 days, and the paid battle pass, combined with the star glitter and stardust you receive from wishing, can get you a decent amount of wishes, but depending on the events available it may or may not net you enough to guarantee the character you want. So I get peoples frustration. At the end of the day, this is a gacha game, but most of the four star characters are perfectly serviceable, and it’s really only recommended to pull for a five star if you like their aesthetic and play style. Story events provide opportunities to try out every single character in the game. One issue though, is reruns aren’t guaranteed to happen for every character, but as mihoyo has only relatively recently been doing double banners, it opens up the possibility for more reruns in the future.

All in all I think Genshin is a fun game. I think new players can get put off by the gacha and the fact that you can’t fully enjoy some content without a decent amount of investment, and I do hope Hoyoverse addresses the new player experience. But I have put countless hours into it and enjoy it for the most part. Also would be nice if they fix some of the artifact rng, and/or put in reforge options. If they address those concerns I’d rate this game higher.

Genshin Impact is probably one of the best free to play games for console of all time, right up there with fortnite.. this time theres more of an action jrpg meets breath of the wild feel, you choose your starting twin, the other is kidnapped and its up to you to rescue them, throughout your journey youll meet new characters that the game gives you for free, and there Is the option to buy new random characters which is where the fee to play aspect comes in.. howver I found this to be highly optional.. here youl be running from checkpoint to checkpoint, unlocking chests for new gear and adventure xp.. something that is actually the most important aspect on genshin ompact.. exploration.. you need to explore to progress the game which is ultimately what made me stop playing 13 hours in… the grind here is absolutely abysmal… I loved progressing this weird story that was impossible to follow for me.. going through the dungeons, just to see where this world would take me next, what enemies and bosses it would throw at me.. and after a while the game starts flowing down, you go to this point now go explore to unlock the next chunk of the story.. so you do that, gaining adventure experience, leving up your charcters, finding new weapons, it was so addictive.. I didn’t mind the break.. im bac, lets continue this story.. heres 2 or a 3 quests.. now you need adventure level 15.. okay… I guess I can do that.. go out.. do the actually thoughtful side quests… a couple hrs of grinding.. ive maxed out my charcters, now I can accend them and level them up twice as much.. I finally get to get back to the main story.. and wall… 1.. I get 1 main mission until the game is like come back after you reach adventure level 25…. Twenty… five…
I just grinded for hours to go up 3 levels.. and you want me to go up..10.. more.. levels… sure theres a level 18 main story sitting there… but whos to say I don’t grind 3 more hours for those 3 levels.. doing mindless, exhausting, map cleaning.. only to get one 15 minute long story mission again.. with nothing on the other side but climb 8 more levels for that level 25 mission.. I couldn’t.. I just couldn’t do it.. I tapped out.. that being said.. my ascension to level 15 was great.. genshin impact rally is a great game with a beautiful world to explore… and at the very least, youre going to get a great.. free… 12 hour game that sure oyull have to youtube the ending for unless oyu have literally nothing else to play and want to sink what looks like over 40 hours into opening chests and activating teleportion posts..
Usually I can grind for a great story, but like I said earlier, it was hard for me to follow, and a story that didn’t make sense in the context of the games delivery.. you cant tell a story of urgency while telling me to go find wheat for a boy to feed ducks… same issue I had with the story in the witcher 3.. you feel like its important that you find and help this person, but hey go do this other stuff that in the grand scheme of the story isn’t impactful in any way… tell a different story…
it’s a shame that such a large emphasis on grind took the wind out of the sales for me.. but I really can appreciate this game for how great of an experience it offers as a free to play..
    I give Genshin Impact

It should be noted that I heavily doubt Mihoyo expected this game to be such a huge hit and they have been listening to fan feedback and making updates/adding more stuff to do over time. Criticisms are a good thing, but I find the 1s a little damn ridiculous.

Genshin's biggest issue is probably the glitches, which is expected in a huge open world game even from AAA devs. Some glitches are just funny, while others can affect your enjoyment, especially in the Stormterror boss fight.

The resin system can be restricting, and I agree with lots of people that it should continue to be reworked to allow for more gameplay. The resin system is purposely designed to restrict grinding so you don't burn yourself out, and it doesn't just stop all gameplay. You can still explore, do quests, help other players with their stuff, or just play the game as boss fights and domains aren't locked if you don't have the resin for the rewards. At the moment, even though they recently tried fixing it so you don't have to sign in multiple times for the daily reward, it's still very restricting especially as you get more characters and need more artifacts or exp books.

You do not need to pay to keep playing either, as I have plenty of fragile resin (resin obtained outside the free resin you get back over time) without paying anything. Chests also give rewards, although not as much as domains and bosses. I do think chests should respawn every month or so, without affecting people's completion of that area. You also will need a lot of monster drops, which are free to obtain as well.

The game is actually pretty generous. You do NOT need 5 star characters, a lot of the 4 stars are perfectly viable to incredibly good. I don't get why people sleep so hard on 4 stars like Fischl or Ningguang. The game also have a pity system, where you are guaranteed a 4 star after ten rolls and a five star after 90 rolls, assuming you didn't roll a 4 star in those ten rolls or a 5 star in those 90 rolls somehow.

A lot of complaints I see are about how the game ends. Yea well, games eventually stop having content, that's how games work. Basically, if this game is the only game you are playing for some reason, yes you will run out of things to do. Just put it down and go do something else and come back tomorrow. I get the complaints, but it is designed this way purposely to keep people playing on a daily basis, because games are a service now. Basically every free game does this and even regular games are turning to it. I don't recall seeing people get upset that they run out of things to do in Animal Crossing every day.

The game itself is a load of fun. The fact it has co-op is amazing. I have some beef with it, like being unable to get chests or talk to certain important NPCs, and it'd be nice to go through the story together like Monster Hunter. But overall, a genius addition that adds a lot of depth to the game.

The battle system is surprisingly well done, and every character is unique in how they fight and what they excel in while allowing for some wiggle room with the artifact system. You switch between four characters to mix elements to maximize your damage or get advantages over enemies, such as ice freezing enemies that are wet. Course, this can all happen to you too, and sometimes the game is cruel enough to put an ice and water mage together.

The game's music is splendid, normally very relaxing without getting annoying or boring like BOTW's soundtrack.

The characters all have detailed backstories and the story is pretty extensive. A lot of it is cliche anime nonsense, but if you like that sort of thing like I do, you'll enjoy it nonetheless. As you obtain more copies of a character you learn more and more about their stories (or just look them up). The game also has plenty of humor and meme worthy content enough to get an entire subreddit. The characters can be tropey but in a fun way, especially since there are so many of them, and they have a purpose to the story as well.

Overall, it is a very enjoyable game that is held back a bit by bugs/kinks and the f2p model. If this game was $60 outright with some characters as guaranteed DLC like smash bros, I'd buy it instantly. While the resin system is restrictive, it has a ton of content, a free open world to explore, enjoyable characters and fun gameplay that you can share with your friends. It's def worth checking out even if you hate gacha, and if you eventually get bored or run out of things to do, hopefully you least had a fun experience up to that point.

Overall 8/10, held back by its issues but a very fun game that is free to try out.

The story and worldbuilding in interesting, the characters are charming and likeable. The exploreable world is huge and dense, there's always something to do, while the exploration is really rewarding. The leveling and loot system is layered and deep as well. There are tons of different activities (main and side missions, spiral abyss, domains, random missions, daily challenges etc.).

Basically everything is present in this game to become one of the best games of the year. It would even have the potential to become a 10 out 10 title once the technical problems (such as the weird controls) are ironed out. It's basically a combination of Monster Hunter: World (in terms of social and leveling aspects) and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (in everything else), but more fun than those titles in many ways (or at least way more fun than MHW to me).

But... the monetization system is extremely intrusive. Low quality mobile games have low quality and intrusive monetization systems, I get that. But what I want is this game to be treated accordingly to its quality, which means that its monetization system should be just as high quality, user-friendly and rewarding as the game itself. Otherwise, the game's gacha system will eventually undermine the game's value and artistic merits.

This should stay as a free-to-play title probably, so there would be a constant influx of players and money so the developers could add in more content for years to come. But the free-to-play model should be changed from gacha-style to cosmetics-based. Cosmetics do not provide any gameplay advantage and do not lock out players from actually meaningful in-game content, but the gacha-system does.

Other things should also be improved, like social aspects (co-op options), the leveling should not be that slow after level 30, and the Battle Pass should be made better as well in order to justify its $10 price tag. All in all, I'd give this game an 8 out of 10 for now.

Problem I've been seeing people have, especially my friends, is that you get stuck after AR24 when there's not many things you can do to level up. The game needs more content to be able to level up your adventure rank. Your best bet is your 4 daily mission but that's about it, you can't do much more besides that.
It's a great F2P game but it has a lot of paid stuff inside the game which is expected so I don't blame them since it is a free game after-all. Many great character are locked behind a gacha system which can be earnt through F2P but VERY difficult unless you pay.
The cutscenes are great! Definitely a plus from me when it comes to cutscenes but some voice acting can be very cringe, ESPECIALLY Paimon who is basically your companion through your entire journey so you will definitely need to get used to her.
Co-op is fun to a certain extent. It does get really repetitive after a while since you're doing the exact same thing over and over again. I wish you could do spiral abyss as co-op since that'll definitely make the game more fun. They need to focus more on co-op contents as this is what makes the game unique to Zelda:BOTW. I hope to see more soon.
My final thoughts is the game is great (not amazing), needs more contents to level up and more contents to do especially with co-op. I can see the game improving as time goes on but right now I think 8/10 is a fair score.

The game design and art direction is amazing and I really like the Zelda feel I get from the grass, land, and enemies. This game runs smooth on pc, and the colors really pop out at ya, and I love it. Pairing with the great visuals, the music is relaxing and I don't mind listening to it frequently. The combat is really good with each character using a different weapon type and elemental power. Combining the elements causes different status effects, and you can literally pair anything. The goal is to use multiple elements and switch characters frequently. Lastly, the open world is large and full of things to do, making this an incredible achievement for a free to play game.

I am going with 8/10 as the online multiplayer is limited and there is no shared loot. Only the main player can open chests. Also, you have an in game currency that is needed to complete dungeons or collect loot from certain world bosses. This is an extreme mobile game aspect that is not welcome at all. It is rumored that an update is coming to increase the cap of this currency, but as of right now its not good.

Best way to "improve" the game for the masses is to try to make Mihoyo (Company behind the game) understand they are in new territory and should change their monetization according to it..

Rather than a typical online game, Genshin Impact resembles a traditional single-player jRPG with a real-time combat. For a free-to-play title it is very impressive, but turns out to be pretty derivative and quickly slumps into monotony. [13/2020, p.52]

Overall, in spite of things that should bring Genshin Impact down, the game is so much fun to play that the negatives are ultimately minor gripes. [...] The gameplay is smooth and simplistic, and it works great on all platforms - though I’m still not sure why the PlayStation version can’t be linked to a Mihoyo account so I could play on my phone when I’m not at home (PS Vita version please??) but it’s a small gripe to an otherwise terrific game.
