  1. The good news is that even at its worst, Furi is something rather special. Even the trudging between fights has some fairly nonsensical but engaging chatter and the scenery is gorgeous. Better still, pressing ‘x’ (or whatever equivalent your gamepad has – it’s playable without but not very effectively), automates all of the walking so that you can sit back and watch, or go and make a brew.

EveryThis game is a must-buy if you like challenging, multi-stage bosses that make you go from character action to bullet hell and back. Every death feels like an accomplishment and only helps you understand attack patterns and get just a stage further until you conquer a new height.
The graphics are nothing to write home about, but the style is what takes the cake here. No boss arena will be boring and boss designs (each of which is made by Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki) are memorable.
The story here only serves the purpose of leading you along from one boss to another, but even what there is makes you invested in the world.
A separate shoutout goes to the beautiful electronic soundtrack by Carpenter Brut, Danger, The Toxic Avenger, Lorn, Scattle, Waveshaper and Kn1ght.

The story is very powerful and has multiple endings of choice. The soundtrack is possibly on what this game thrives on the most, if the gameplay wasn't so addictive and fluent. Voice acting is done very well with strangely fitting accents. Last but not least, the graphics are wonderful to look at, and add a unique aesthetic to the world.

This game is very challenging, but it is absolutely worth it in the end.
