Full Throttle Remastered is as good now as Full Throttle was back in 1995, and that’s about as glowing a recommendation as I could possibly give. It may not provide the longest ride ever produced, but with a new coat of paint, a refurbished engine, and some sexy after-market exhausts, this is one retuned and restored beast I unreservedly endorse for one and all.

Since it can take four hours or more to finish Full Throttle Remastered, you’re hit with a story that's paced in a manner that feels just right. Even if there are some small roadblocks along the way, there are plenty of detours that'll keep your spirits high as you head into the horizon.

Full Throttle Remastered is a fantastic point and click heavy metal adventure that is an essential for fans of the genre.

While some of the gameplay might feel dated to younger gamers, and the short length might turn a few people off – for everyone else looking for a fun adventure that'll take no more than a rainy afternoon to play through, Full Throttle Remastered is an easy choice.

Ben is back after 22 years with improved graphics, improved sounds, and a very low price tag. What's there not to like? Not much. Maybe the gameplay on the Mine Road that shows it's age. A must-play for any gamer.

Double Fine Productions delivers once again, with a solid remaster that stays faithful to the spirit and style of the original game.

Good remaster of the classic, that increases the degree of detail dramatically without damaging the style. But the gameplay is quite undemanding.

Full Throttle is another cherished page from the annals of genre history restored for a brand new audience. Though the remake will have limited appeal to those familiar with the highly polished original, the game belongs in the library of every adventure gamer, and it’s as enjoyable now as it was two decades ago.

Full Throttle may not have aged as well as its siblings, but it’s still a true gem nonetheless. This is largely thanks to some sharp writing, stellar and unique visuals, fun gameplay, and a kickass soundtrack. The remastered version serves to highlight and even enhance all of this, showcasing the kind of creativity Schafer and company could be capable of when at their best. It’s a fitting conclusion to this trilogy of remastered LucasArts adventures (unless Double Fine can somehow get the rights to the likes of Loom or The Dig), and a rubber-burning road trip down memory lane is definitely worth taking again.

Minor quibbles aside, Full Throttle hits all the right notes as deftly in 2017 as it did in 1995. Not only do its story, voice acting, puzzles, and audiovisual accoutrements hold up, younger fans weaned on Telltale's interactive movies might take to it due to its balance of puzzles and plot.

Mostly succeeds on two fronts: As a fresh way to revisit an old classic, and as the ideal entry point for players who haven’t yet smacked rival bikers with a two-by-four on the Mine Road or figured out the combination to Old Man Corley’s safe. There are a couple of sticking points for both old and new players, including some technical issues and (especially for the latter) that questionable “adventure game logic” which is anything but logical. Nevertheless, there’s never been a better time to hit the open road with Ben and his gang.

For me, Full Throttle was one of my least favorite of the LucasArts adventures, being about half the length you’d expect from an adventure and using a setting that I didn’t really care about. So I’m mixed in my feelings here. If you’ve never played the original version of the game, then it’s worthwhile to try out the remastered version — just to see some adventure game history if for no other reason. But if you’ve played Full Throttle before, then the remastered version is more of an iffy proposition. There is some new stuff to see (and hear) but it’s basically just the same game, and you’ll have to decide if that’s worth $15 to you.

You’ll still enjoy this graphic adventure 22 years after its release, but if compared to other LucasArts games Full Throttle has aged less well.

A cinematic, high-octane, but short-lived adventure, lovingly remastered for a new generation.

Full Throttle may not be the best graphic adventure of all that were produced by the once great LucasArts, for its simplicity, little variety and short duration, but technologically was flawless and the cornerstone on which was established the last great stronghold of the genre. Something worth remembering.

A solid remake of a solid, albeit short biker adventure that is primarily focused on storytelling and the characters rather than puzzles.

If you enjoy LucasArts' games, you should definitely play Full Throttle after so many years of not having the option to do so. If you haven't played their games but enjoy the genre in general, I'd still recommend it, as long as you're willing to accept occasional help from the internet when you can't find the right stupid rock to kick.

Full Throttle Remastered is a great versjon of the aging adventure game. If you’re interested in checking out a classic adventure game, this is a great opportunity.

The end result: It’s rough, playing it today. Does that mean you should skip it? Absolutely not. It still packs some solid laughs, excellent music, and a setting that deserves to be revisited. It’s three hours well-spent, and those who played it in the past will find the same game they loved all those years ago...Just realize this remaster isn’t as smooth or seamless as what Double Fine’s done before. Nothing from that era could be.

Full Throttle game didn´t get old in the best way and its transformation into a modern form lacks the charm of the original. Luckily there is no pixel hunting, but regular gameplay along with boring minigames, knock the title from stardom to above average level. Remaster makes sense if you want to educate yourself in a game history, otherwise you will be more comfortable with a friendly nostalgia.

A competent remaster that does not hurt with redesigned graphics and excites with polished sound. Above all, it offers excellent dabbing, especially of the main character helps this otherwise average adventure game to be forgotten. [Issue#275]

It’s a pretty remaster, but when you look at this game dispassionately, you notice that it is too easy, too short and unnecessarily cluttered with annoying minigames. [06/2017, p.58]

Full Throttle hasn’t aged particularly well, and it’s made more unenjoyable by a remaster that actively sucks the life out of the game’s personality.

The end result is one of the weaker remasters in Double Fine’s catalog. It doesn’t reach the operatic heights of Grim Fandango, and it lacks the memorable puzzles of Monkey Island. Full Throttle is a rough and tumble game full of affection for the open road. It’s a fun time full of fire, stunts, and fury. The remaster is a solid preservation of a classic title with some unnecessary additions.
  2. This is Full Throttle made playable once again, and that’s something to be celebrated. It’s a really fantastic game, with a lovely story, and brilliant performances. And out of its original timeline it’s free to just be itself, not compared to the last or the next LucasArts adventure to hit the shelves. If you loved the original, this is worth buying for the improved sound alone. If you never played it, then oh my goodness, hurry up!

The good: The dialogue is witty, the music is atmospheric, the original pixel artwork is still amazing (IMHO), the story is engaging and the puzzles are original and their solutions are generally logical (for a LucasArts point-and-click adventure).

The bad: The new graphical makeover is as charmless as it is pointless - it looks like a bad Flash game. The motorbike combat bits are as awful as they every were. Some puzzles end up being a "Where's Waldo" search for a non-descript item that is indistinguishable from the non-interactive background. The whole thing is also very short and linear; for all of the dialogue choices you get, there's only one path through the game, therefore there's no replay value.

I can't help but feel that the money used to develop this remaster might have been better put towards a proper (full-priced) sequel, perhaps with the original Full Throttle bundled in and playable in its original form.

If you've never played Full Throttle before, I would encourage you to give it a go, but do so with an open and forgiving mind, as it hasn't aged particularly well.

If you've played it before and you've misplaced your rose-tinted glasses, avoid.
