Full Throttle is still as short a point 'n' click adventure now as it was back in 1995 and the remastered version isn't quite as polished as recent efforts by Double Fine such as Day of the Tentacle Remastered, however this is still the same awesome bikie adventure that many gamers fell in love with back in the 90s, with an excellent soundtrack by Peter McConnell and the Gone Jackals, aFull Throttle is still as short a point 'n' click adventure now as it was back in 1995 and the remastered version isn't quite as polished as recent efforts by Double Fine such as Day of the Tentacle Remastered, however this is still the same awesome bikie adventure that many gamers fell in love with back in the 90s, with an excellent soundtrack by Peter McConnell and the Gone Jackals, a great cast of characters voiced by some talented voice actors, and an appealing comic book art style – the only difference is it's all in higher definition now so that a younger generation can enjoy it too without needing to experience grainy animation and audio. Five Word Review: Beautification of a true classic.
Favorite Thing: The remaster looks great. A fitting facelift for a great classic.
Least Favorite Thing: Controlling the motorcycle. It's not just the mouse control, it's the oh-so-terrible mouse control.

It was enjoyable enough to finish, but a step down from other Lucasarts games. It could have very well done for this setting what it did for pirates, but it was underwhelming.

The good: The dialogue is witty, the music is atmospheric, the original pixel artwork is still amazing (IMHO), the story is engaging and the puzzles are original and their solutions are generally logical (for a LucasArts point-and-click adventure).

The bad: The new graphical makeover is as charmless as it is pointless - it looks like a bad Flash game. The motorbike combat bits are as awful as they every were. Some puzzles end up being a "Where's Waldo" search for a non-descript item that is indistinguishable from the non-interactive background. The whole thing is also very short and linear; for all of the dialogue choices you get, there's only one path through the game, therefore there's no replay value.

I can't help but feel that the money used to develop this remaster might have been better put towards a proper (full-priced) sequel, perhaps with the original Full Throttle bundled in and playable in its original form.

If you've never played Full Throttle before, I would encourage you to give it a go, but do so with an open and forgiving mind, as it hasn't aged particularly well.

If you've played it before and you've misplaced your rose-tinted glasses, avoid.

The story and puzzles aren't clever or satisfying, the UI is horrific and doesn't properly distinguish between interactable items, and not even the hotspot overlay helps. The shoehorning of a badly designed arcade combat system into a point 'n click was a terrible decision. The game is very short too, and that's including the pointless unfunny filler dialog and walking animations which are about 80% of the game.

I was expecting a peer of Grim Fandango or Monkey Island, but this has proven to be disappointingly mediocre.

As much as I like point-n-click adventures and bike gang thematics, you can only guess how much I wanted to like Full Throttle, sadly this is not the case.

From a gameplay standpoint, this game has aged like milk, it's impossible to play without a walkthrough, it is a frustratingly difficult game, and the cause for this doesn't lie withing the difficulty and cleverness of the puzzles themselves, but on ridiculousness and a lack of clear guidance by the game's storytelling and atmosphere, it's completely random.
As far as the remaster goes, it also sucks, sure, the highlighted objects in this game look really well, but not only were the backgrounds left hardly touched at all, there is another problem with this, it unclarifies the meaning of things and backgrounds, interactable objects are unintelligible from background ones, which ties in with another reason why this remaster is so bad; no menus were enhanced, they tried to keep classic with the original action menu, which is unpractical and bothersome to use, and they did not include a "highlight objects" key, which only sums up to the confusion within this game.
Some of the horrific problems this game suffers from is the presence of unwanted gameplay features (such as motorcycle combat) and time-limited sections, my man, why do I only have 4 seconds to notice the "cave" arrow when it's no different to the one that goes out to the highway, with the added inconvenience of losing 1 minute of your life staring at the screen waiting for the whole cycle to be drove-by again only to miss the cave once again, whoops!
Overall, this is not a good game, it looks cool and has a good soundtrack, but I would not recommend buying this release to anyone, not because it's terribly bad (it's not nefarious, it's just bad), but because it's a true pain in the ass to play.

Amazing remastered soundtrack and SFX, great idea for the jukebox to add "hi-fi", "lo-fi" switch. I like to compare old and new sound, this is fantastic. Actually i like it in every remaster.

It was redrawn everything and looks very nice, i guess i like remaster better now.

Not have any problem with mechanics and fight on the bikes, think it's became even smoother.

Very useful feature is able to switch between classic and remastered versions. Request it for every future remaster ever :))

I loved the voice acting, as well as the heavy metal soundtrack. Back in the day, the game was criticized to be too short. But I feel 4 hours length for Full Throttle felt just right.

A few words about the remaster. As in every Tim Schafer remaster, this is a perfect one. You can switch to old graphics and sound by the press of a button and also access commentaries, which renders the old version pretty much obsolete. As opposed to Day of the Tentacle Remastered though, I chose to play with the original graphics, which in my view offers a preferable darker and upsetting tone, rather than the more colorful and cheerful remastered graphics.

This one I'm on the fence about. It is a great remaster of a 1995 LucasArts point and click adventure game but the gameplay and story do not age well. I am only recommending it because of the fantastic effort put into the remaster features which include upgraded graphics, the ability to switch to old graphics at any time, and even commentary.

This is one of the only LucasArts games I know about that I do not have nostalgia for as I somehow missed it. It is a classic point and click adventure with the antagonist being a leader of a biker gang. You are quickly thrung into a conflict with the future of the only motorcycle manufacture left. The story is a bit lacking and character development a bit bland.

There are much better modern and classic games in this genre but the effort put into the remaster is to be commended.

If you've ever found yourself trying to explain to people that videogames are an art just as much as cinema is, you should show them Full Throttle.

This game is easily among the anthology of gaming and there is a reason for that: there's hardly any other game that can immerse the player so well in its story and its environment. Scenario, dialogues, OST (incredible, really), the characters and their psychology... Everything is artistically so lively, and so well-designed that it could match reference cinema movies. It takes one quote to love a character, one interaction to laugh, and one glance at your hero lost in the desert to feel like this badass biker lost in the Nevada.

The funny thing is, at this point I am barely hiding that Full Throttle feels like an amazing movie and not a game. And yes, its deep nature lies somewhere between a movie and a game. And as much as I love it, I have to admit that the gameplay has good and bad sides. Among the good things, I note that this is one of the rare point'n clicks where there is a dynamic dimension, that is, where sometimes the timeliness of your actions matters. The bad side of the game lies in several clunky sequences, for examples, one involving bike fights, and another one in a destruction derby, where you feel the solutions do not correspond to any logic, and are found after several missed attempts.

Yet, none of these gameplay mistakes could ever erase Ben and Maureen from my memories. Because as many awesome cinema movies, the atmosphere, characters and dialogues of Full Throttle will leave you with the lasting impression that you were there in these desert lands, loving your jacket, your bike and hating the bad industrials you were running after.

    Masterpiece of videogames history.

Love this game. Lot's of Nostalgia for it. One of the best all time classic games.
    - The negative i have for this version is ... the modern art style. I am not a fan.
They give you both versions! Which is great. I MUCH prefer the pixels... HOWEVER. If you choose the pixels option you also get stuck with the old master of the sound. Which is much worse and less clear. It's a huge shame

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I review games with all games starting at 5/10 (Average) and then deduct/add for negatives and positives:

    Overall feeling:

Really enjoyable re-make for a classic game. I never played the original but saw a friend play-through it and bought it on steam. Was able to play through in one session and although some of the sections weren't perfect, I do think it's worthy of the title of a classic. The achievement list is a little big (40 in total) considering most of them are for just going through the game normally, and only a handful are for things you can miss. However it was fun to get them all. There is no real replay ability except for a fun romp through a familiar game a few years later for nostalgia.

    Positives:

    - Cool that you can swap between graphic settings +
    - Generally funny dialogue (on purpose) +
    - Unique and fairly varied characters +
    - Great Voice acting ++
    - Great music ++
    - Most puzzles were good +
    - Graphics made objects more clear on remastered edition +

    +9

    Negatives:

    - Graphics on remastered edition felt a bit like the smoothed out original pixel art and didn't go over to add details too many times --
    - Fighting and combat sections could have been more interesting, plus it's really hard to tell when you're supposed to execute certain commands, attacking enemies when their heads are up, dodging oil slicks, hard to see and notice --
    - I liked Ben, but his lack of expression felt boring and he didn't really offer much observation of the world -
    - Roller Derby section is unclear, boring and one of/the worst sections in the game and drags the whole thing down --

If you enjoy LucasArts' games, you should definitely play Full Throttle after so many years of not having the option to do so. If you haven't played their games but enjoy the genre in general, I'd still recommend it, as long as you're willing to accept occasional help from the internet when you can't find the right stupid rock to kick.

Full Throttle game didn´t get old in the best way and its transformation into a modern form lacks the charm of the original. Luckily there is no pixel hunting, but regular gameplay along with boring minigames, knock the title from stardom to above average level. Remaster makes sense if you want to educate yourself in a game history, otherwise you will be more comfortable with a friendly nostalgia.
