FragPunk stands out in the genre for its creative, reality-altering twist on familiar mechanics. Though I wish it leaned further into its unique aesthetic, it still distinguishes itself from the crowd and is absolutely worth trying.

FragPunk is solid—mostly. Ditching ultimates was a bold (read: questionable) move, but Shard Cards bring enough chaos to keep things interesting. What really sells it is the swagger. In a sea of same-y shooters, FragPunk kicks the door down with something fresh and flashy. It won’t dethrone the genre’s giants, but it’s no flop either.

Fragpunk stands out in the competitive free-to-play market with its vibrant visuals, unique Lancers, and game-changing Shard Cards that keep matches fresh. While the heavy reliance on microtransactions is a downside, the game’s innovation makes it an exciting contender. If future updates refine its progression, Fragpunk could carve out a lasting place in the genre.

What Fragpunk lacks in subtlety it makes up for with a lack of subtlety. It's loud and brash and silly and deliberately off-kilter.

If you want a break from Valorant, Bad Guitar Studio's FragPunk is an entertaining distraction. Just don't count on the same level of tactical depth.

Considering that there are 169 different Shard Cards, it feels like there is a lack of tactical and strategic depth in Fragpunk's team game setup, which Bad Guitar would need to work on. I've encountered some glitches with the netcode as well that would need to be tweaked but overall I've enjoyed this colourful action title.

FragPunk is launching in a strange, unbalanced state where it actively undermines its best features and doesn't quite know how to build on its own strong foundation. It's still fun, a more casual alternative to something like Valorant, but there's a definite sense that FragPunk isn't living up to its full potential. Hopefully, NetEase can work out a way to sharpen its focus in future updates and clean up the awful menus.
