My score to this game is 6.The good things in the game are graphics, music, characters and some missions. But there are lots of glitches,70% of missions are boring, awful plot, and small length of the game. This is not bad game but it isnt a masterpiece.

Quite disappointed with it. The story opens in a great way with a brilliant graphical demonstration of the Dunia engine and thats it. The plot stagnates and never develops. There arent surprises lying in the story. The actual story is awfully short and you wont realize it because you will be tasked with a bunch of random missions to actually unlock the story missions. Taking over outposts used to fun back in Far cry 3 & 4, now its feels boring because there is no innovation, every mechanic is basically a rip-off from the previous Far cry's. And all those hallucinating crap is not interesting anymore, it has BECOME FRUSTRATING! And yeah, most of the side missions SUCKS! But the soundtrack is undeniably good that tries its best to create the Montana ambience that we were expecting but the seemingly empty, less detailed map negates it. Expand

FC5 took away most of the things I loved about the last two titles.

    - Gameplay - In terms of combat and stealth, Far Cry 5 plays the same as Far Cry 3 and 4, which is good. But they removed the ability to hunt and craft. You can still hunt, but you can't craft. You can only sell what you've hunted, which completely defeats the purpose of hunting. The devs might as well replace all the

    - Gameplay -
In terms of combat and stealth, Far Cry 5 plays the same as Far Cry 3 and 4, which is good. But they removed the ability to hunt and craft. You can still hunt, but you can't craft. You can only sell what you've hunted, which completely defeats the purpose of hunting. The devs might as well replace all the animal locations with a bunch of treasure chests. Animal were also far and few in between. You'd rarely see random animal attacks, and the variety of animals was very narrow. I didn't like these changes at all.

Scaling radio towers to view an area on the map is taken out, it's now done automatically when you've passed by that area. I personally really like climbing the radio towers in the older Far Crys. It was a bit thrilling, since I'm scared of heights in real life and would never climb that high.

The perk system works relatively the same way, but I would say it's a bit harder to gain perk points compared to before. There aren't any over powered perks like "run forever", which is reasonable, as those perks in the old titles gave the player too much power. The boss fights were mostly silly. Especially the final boss. Very underwhelming and repetitive compared to past titles.

    - Narrative -
This has got to be the part I disliked the most, but this is more of a personal taste. The antagonists of Far Cry 5 are a radical religious cult. I've seen a fair share of cult documentaries, and they are interesting to learn about. The craziness shown in the villains were also really well done. You could clearly see they were mentally on a different channel. Though at the same time, the villains all felt too similar in personality. There are 4 of them, and they have A LOT of monologues. Going through each area began to feel like a chore after I defeated first villain. By the end of it, I just got burnt out by that empty blank look they had, along with their cold monologues. Why did they do this? Far Cry 3 and 4 had villains of varied personalities and agendas. Far Cry 5 felt like it had 1 villain but times four.

I also didn't like the fact that the protagonist was you. I liked AJ Ghale. I liked Jason Brody. One had a goal you wanted to fight for. The latter had an interesting personality change along his journey. There's a lot of customisation you can make to your avatar, but you never actually see him...so WHAT's THE POINT?

    - Visuals & Sounds -
The game looks beautiful, and the facial expressions are REALLY well done. When the cult leader leans into your face and talks to you, he truly looks insane. The devs did a very, very good job with portraying a radical cult leader. The environment looks beautiful too. It's unfortunate the setting doesn't have as much mountains as the locations in previous Far Crys.

    - Replay value -
There are a lot of things to collect, and side missions to complete after you finish the game. But it all feels very repetitive. The things you do in side missions and main missions just feel too similar. Plus, given the way the game ended, there's little reason to complete any of it, as it'll be all for naught.

First of all, the graphics and artwork is beautiful, no complaints there.

But my three largest complaints are save glitches, pacing and repetitiveness. Seems to be no rhyme or reason where I end up when I save. And there have been numerous times where tasks that I've completed weren't saved and I had to re-do them. During a hostage situation, I killed the same guy 3 times, saved and when I came back he was there again. Finally gave up and didn't bother.

There's no pacing to this game. You are either attacking or being attacked non-stop. I miss the undisturbed hikes or drives drives in Far Cry 3. It's like they took a map, jumbled up 10 thousand fight/task instances (whether man or animal) and just dropped them on the map.

Too much repetition. How many cars, trucks, roadblocks do you need to take out? Only to have them reappear the next time you're in the area? It's like shooting for shooting's sake.

So although not awful, this game could have been a lot better. Hopefully Ubisoft takes notice of these negative to mixed reviews and goes back to Far Cry's roots for the next game.

Graphically speaking the game looks visually stunning and gives off a fresh new immersive vibe. Bugs and Glitches are present here and there but really not as bad as most of today's Early Access titles.

While the storyline at times is pure sensationalised fiction it is saved by the authentic acting that allows for immersion to resurface. There are also some major flaws in logic (e.g. Where does everyone live?) in the environment and story but granted it's a 'Far Cry' game it's best to just ignore these. Side Activities become boring after the first 2-3 tries.

Shooting and gameplay mechanisms aren't particularly bad or good. For precision shooting I find myself always using a mouse. For Vehicles (especially Helicopters or Planes) and Open World exploring I suggest a controller.

It's important to note that Map design is particularly bad as you're always clustered between the next wild animal or enemy AI. This overpopulation does not fit at all with the geographical area and does get frustrating both for gameplay and immersion.

I was also pretty sad to see the core mechanism of crafting removed and substituted by a simplistic perk design. Considered this iteration doesn't drift too far away in all other areas from its predecessors I would have liked them to keep the original system.

Microtransactions are present in the game but serve more of a cheat engine than as aiding the core of the game.
I found it pretty easy to ignore them and suggest others to do the same. Just download a trainer in the future or something because it's nothing more than cheating.

Overall having played and enjoyed all iterations of Far Cry, I would tie this one with FC4 or Primal. It's a game you will most likely finish but hardly remember. This is mainly due to the fact that 'Far Cry' series for me has always felt like taking a 'vacation' in an adventurous place and unfortunately Montana does not possess enough intriguing or mystic attributes to keep me hooked. I also really despise the big purple truck. This ain't Saints Row c'mon.

The culmination of this terrible juxtaposition between freedom of gameplay and railing of narrative is at the end of the game. Do not purchase this game unless you do not, in to any degree whatsoever, care about the story. It is a great open-world shooter with beautiful geography. But great work by the level designers is severely diminished by the poor, shallow character-building. And I'm not even talking about the typical game journalist critique of this game, which I happen to agree with, that it has the opportunity to speak to the present political moment. That's unfortunately where I believe it ends for Far Cry 5. Following the success of Far Cry 3 and the memorable antagonist Ubisoft have basically made the series about the antagonists, so much so that in Far Cry 5 there is actually zero back story to the character you play, you're just known as "Rookie" or "Rook", the story is about the bad guys as usual not about you.

The AI isn't perfect by a long shot, and in fact at times have proven to be more of a liability by getting in the way, starting a gun fight when we're supposed to be quiet and just generally getting in the way. There really isn't too much going into the back story of any of you're "companions" either, all you'll basically know is there names, a small piece about them and what the specials are.

The enemy AI has eagle eyed vision, they literally can see you from a mile off at times way before you see them, considering you're the one approaching it's a bit unfair at times. Especially when the game decides to drop you smack in the middle of a bunch of mobs.

Faith's area frustrated me greatly, i get the whole drug area but I should be concerned about being spotted, or killed by peggies not having to keep one eye open just in case a bear decides to spawn next to me, kinda spoilt it a little. Also some NPC's have bugged and not done what they were supposed to be doing (ie instead of using the radio at the tower I escorted him to he just stood there) so I've had to reload from the last checkpoint a number of times.

Until you've liberated an area going along the road is just too much trouble, I once stent 20 minutes trying to get out of an area I've fast travelled to because there was several patrols and a bunch of planes all in that area.

No actual online co-op aside from having people on your friends list? Kinda **** considering you can make your own maps, you have a pvp section and all to me that's a big piece missing. If they are planning on adding this then they need to do this now because in a months time we're going to be playing something else.

At least it doesn't rape your CPU like Origin's does.

Sure you can make it harder yourself by using only the bow and use stealth, but it is just not good game design, they should have made it much harder to get all the good weapons and vehicles.

The story line is average at best, you only get to see the main bad guys/bosses in a couple of cutscenes that tell you the story and that's it.Ubisoft made a very big map with way to much repetitive missions, A lot of quest just repeat the same stuff over and over, kill something over here, get something over there, and the map is packed with enemies, you can't walk for 2 minutes or there are enemies coming for you, it's just to much.
instead they should look at games like Yakuza 6, it has a way smaller map/world, but with lots of interesting stuff to do, and also a better way of telling the story.

The story is the biggest weakness of the game. I would like to give 3 out of 10 for the story. These endings are nothing special yet quite narrow and blend. The plot of this game is not better than Far Cry 2,3, or 4. You don't expect this quality and this kind of storyline from an AAA(pricewise), trigger-happy, and run and gun( and a tiny bit of stealthy) game.

The graphics are as good as Far Cry 5 But it requires much stronger pc to run it smoothly. Yet I felt like the map is somewhat empty. all the maps have the same repetetive random encounters, and these are not good enough. when you see one, you handle it in 5 secs and move along.

The music and songs are pretty good. But the sound effects(especially guns) are bad.

There are no unique characters compared to the prequels. Pretty much the same characters.

I would not be surprised if someone introduced that this game was released before Farcry 4.

My biggest issue with this game though is their need to exaggerate and ridicule the conservative right and their falling into the current popular "religious people are wackos" story line. They appear to encourage the belief that Christians are just one step away from turning into evil mindless zombies that will follow anyone that claims to have all the answers. We see this all the time in modern pop culture and it's simply not true. Give us a break from this stuff already. I game to get away from all this political indoctrination we see everywhere, not to receive more of it.

I knew this was going to be part of this game from what I had already seen of it, but I bought it because it came down so far in price on Steam. I like the Far Cry games and I'm trying to ignore the not so veiled leftist anti-Christian slant, but some of the stuff just ticks me off.

Ok, so I just started playing and admit I could only make it through to the first safe house with the bald man before I wanted to come start this review, I'll update it later but something already glaring in my mind I wanted to get off my chest. The graphics are pretty cool so far, and im enjoying myself..so I'll give it a 7/10 to begin with. However, as of right now the story already starts off making 0 sense. Small spoiler ahead...You start off going to arrest a guy with a federal warrant whose surrounded by a bunch of cultists with guns in a compound...you have a local sheriff with you that fills in the lead US marshal that the guy you're going to arrest is a cult leader, has heavy followers with guns, and pleads with you to reconsider as its going to be dangerous...LETS STOP RIGHT THERE. First off, you're a FEDERAL Marshal, therefor you have a FEDERAL boss that would be expecting you to check in at some point. When the local sheriff announces all these problems to you, a FEDERAL agent would def. call in backup to begin with. So the whole "nobodies coming to save you" and 4 people going in to arrest this cult leader makes 0 sense..the national guard/army/swat team would have been called in for backup. Story fails from beginning, so i'm taking off 3 ticks for that alone. I'll update this when/if I ever finish this already ridiculous story or anything else starts to deduct from my now 7/10 score. Thanks. **update** I've removed 2 bars (now 5/10) due to starting to see all the repetitive filler added for nothing other than some joker's idea of "content" or "fun". Also the enemy AI is pathetic...its literally a 0 challenge effort on the dev's part. This series needs a long break or wait 2-3 years in between and add worthwhile content. Expand

I would be singing this games praise but for a few things that have turned an otherwise amazing experience completely sour. Far Cry 5 could have and should been the best of the far cry games so far but due to either sloppy and very lazy writing or horrible production it's the worst. The premise of the story is excellent but the execution of it is atrocious. I'll try very hard not to include spoilers but suffice it to say they make the protagonist and the antagonist not only impotent but stupid as well. I have never seen a story either so lazily written or so horribly rushed. It makes no logical sense. The story pins the protagonist into a no win scenario time and time again, giving the antagonist opportunity after opportunity to end the conflict. Once or twice would have been fine but it gets tedious and annoying after 20 times. Do the antagonists act on those opportunities? Take a guess. To add insult to injury it resorts to the use of deus ex machina to get him out. It reeks of rushed and cut story or amateurish writing.

The game play is standard far cry albeit without the towers. The graphics are beautiful and the setting is amazing. The music is wonderful and probably the best part of the game. All of these things add up to what should have been the best game of 2018, but with the no win scenarios every 20 minutes it ruins it.

TL;DR: They botched this either due to bad writers or a moronic production team. If you don't care about the story making no logical sense this is a great game.

Add to that a couple of annoying bugs and the presence of Microtransactions, and I am really not impressed by the game. I was so certain I'd by the seasons pass after finishing the main story, but now I most certainly wont.

FC5 is actually worse than FC Primal and FC4.

    Pros:
+ The game has been optimized really well on PC.
+ Letting you choose character's gender.

    Cons:
    - Too many glitches.
    - Poor background music, animals, outpost, mission and story.
    - The game has smallest map in FC series.

In conclusion, FC5 doesn't make me feel satisfied. Way worse than AC Origin.

    - Awsome graphics
    - Big & beautiful open world full of life
    - lots of missions & activities
    - The gameplay is solid as usual, it contains all the gameplay elements of the old far cry games with 1
or 2 new things, which is great cuz if something is good then keep it running.
    - the companions addition is great for the gameplay, u can be strategic in ur gameplay in many ways.

    Cons - minor spoilers alert!!
    - The stupidest most awful story ever in the history of far cry, or ubisoft, or videogames, or mankind.
    - The entire game & characters have the stupidest logic ever, there was many ways to solve their problem in much easier ways & end that stupid cult, but for the sake of the stupid game they decided to fight back the cult, not using a freakin plane or helicopter to flee out & call the freakin national guard. Personally, I felt putting up with all the **** the story & the character brought was un-digestible.
    - Boring main characters with no depth what so ever & easily forgettable.
    - Weak conversation that makes u detached to most of the game's characters or events.
    - The mission system is creative. However, the implementation of it is the worst!!! the entire games feels like side missions that fills boss meters to a certain degree to enter main cinematic scene or main mission three times before the boss fight.
    - once the boss meter is filled to 1/4 , 2/4, 3/4 or 4/4 u will be forced to do the main mission, regardless of where u are, with whom or what are you doing, even if u r in a freaking plane in the sky, the boss hunting team will manage to hunt u down.
-The games bosses hunts u down 10 times through the game!!!! 11 times based on ur choices, who told ubisoft that this is a good idea??? the idea that ur enemy manage to catch u 11 times where ur life is in their hands & u still manage to kill all of them (will, most of them!!) doesn't feel right at all, & makes u feel that nothing u do matters, no matter how many enemies u killed, or camps u free, ur enemies will hunt u any time they want.

    - the bosses are stupid & annoying, specially Faith!!!!. Please give me the opportunity to make the them shut up in their moments before they die, I don't want to hear an **** that I wanna kill so bad to speak his mind. & give me the opportunity to kill Faith slowly & painfully for every irritating moment she gave to me. & pls developers of the entertainment industry, stop trying to give women reasons for why they are with the bad guys, stop trying to make us sympathies with evil female characters. women can be evil too & deserve to be torn apart for what they did, so stop victimizing women! I don't want to sympathies with an evil character just because she is a woman! I want to rip them apart too & make them suffer for their bad deeds just like all other guys!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to like this game. i really really do...all they had to do was give me a game that was fun and exciting and just had tons to do with a good story. Something missing from Farcry 3...4...and especially Primal.

This game's world is big, entertaining, and lush. There's things happening all the time and it's easy to get lost in it. But then when you actually start gaining resistance points....you get railroaded into a "captured" mission. These stupid sequences interrupt everything you're trying for...going fishing? Too bad...wanna hide from the capture parties? Oh well....you can't defned yourself, you can't hide, and you can't escape them. It dampens your fun.

The reall killer though is the story and how it ends. You've finally come face to face with Joseph Seed....it's time for the final confrontation

    A. You turn around and leave

    or

    B. You capture him...he blows up Hope county...and then takes you prisoner to start his cult again

This left such a sour taste in my mouth....literally, everything I did was for NOTHING. There is no closure...all the torture, the brainwashing, the literal agony your character goes through....and you don't get ANY closure. Furthermore, after the credits....well, you can do all the side stuff in hope county...but there's no one left to shoot, all the bad guys are now gone....it becomes empty and boring.

Again, I wanted to enjoy this game...I loved some of the characters (Hurk is still as awesome as ever) and some missions are just too insane for words (reclaiming the Widowmaker)....but the story just ruins all hype I had for this game...to the point where I regret getting it.

I played with a friend which probably made this more enjoyable than what it really is but even then their progress doesn't count towards your progress, forcing you to switch back and forth between both games for unlocks and New Game+. Except why would you play it twice with neither ending being decent. If you like drugs you'll like this game, because every major story event practically drugs you to start, yanking you from whatever quest you were trying to do to take part in a mediocre story. They really need to work on their story writing in the future. Even the friend I was playing with that usually takes things better than I do gave the game a 6 out of 10. We won't be finishing my game as we both agreed that it was pretty garbage and quit to do other things.

One thing that's peculiar is that this has to be the most diverse town in Montana. Both the protagonists and antagonists are quite diverse (not saying this is bad at all). But it definitely takes away some immersion. Some fans thought this would be an opportunity to fight against potential racists or Nazi-like regimes. That's until you realize that there are persons of color in every corner of every faction of every part of Hope County. There is also an equal amount of men and women on both sides. I admire Ubisoft for trying to make sure that this game doesn't offend too many fans, but with that in mind, it makes for very very limited creativity. Far Cry 5 is fun. But it's nothing different. If there was anything very bad about this game, it's the A.I. Oh gawd, that A.I. You'd have to see it to believe it. Overall, it's a very beautiful game that runs great on a decent PC rig. If you care at all about story, though, this is one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a video game. It plays more like a movie at key moments and gives you absolutely no choice in how things end. It's worth a playthrough, but I'd wait until it is deeply discounted and on sale and prepare yourself for an extremely lackluster, uninspired story. I hate saying this. Expand

3: Fishing. Aw yeah, that's really good thing. Shooting can annoy. It is really relaxing.
    4: Prepper Stashes. Interesting mini-quests.
    Negative moments:
1: Who is the main character? It seems that i'm playing for a robot without emotions, problems, his own history, type of character, thoughts. It is bot which we just control. That's awful!
2: Against whom we play?? I can't feel any emotions against! No hate, no anger. Lets compare with Far Cry 3. I hated Vaas and Hoyt. In fourth it was Yuma. Here is no one to hate.
3: Millions of stupid enemies everywhere. I can't simply drive a car because every 100 meters i am under attack. That's really annoying.
4: Sniper rilfes are awful. The problem is that they are neccesary.
5: So big map and so small number of outposts. It is interesting to take them. [Subjectively]
    Conclusion:
It is dissapointing that the great series of games is degrading. If we could sum the gameplay in Far Cry 5 (without sniper rilfes) and plot in Far Cry 3, the result would be awesome. I wish Ubisoft will make the awesome sixth part. I will wait for it

The antagonist(s) are in my meaning quite interestingly written, but not to well incorporated in the game. The only way you interact with them is through forced cutscenes/events which, in MY meaning is not the best way to use these characters.

Anyway, when I first started playing Far Cry 5 (day one), I thought it was awesome, and now, 2 years later I find that it is just the same. I mean that literally. I´m not to well aware of post launch patches and fixes, but it doesn´t seem to have been any. You still, after 2 years since launch, fall through the world, get stuck in animation, vehicles and trees, framerate drops and laggy/buggy (as hell) coop. The only difference is that there are more stuff to buy (for real currency) in the store. sigh...

This level of negligence is not really okay for a game by release, but even less so for a game 2 years After release. It´s sad to see the lack of care Ubisoft has given Far Cry 5, which lowers the score and the probability for me to recommend this as a buy, especially as Ubisoft still wants full price for it even though they have skipped out on making it work properly.

I like the new perk system, where new skills are not earned through XP, but merely by exploring the world and solving puzzles. I sorta like the companions, they're dumb, sure, but at least they make you feel less alone. Still, Fallout 4 had better written and fleshed out companions 3 years before the release of this game. Somehow there are also cameos of YouTubers in the German version of the game, not that the experience was immersive in the first place, but hearing their blaring voices utterly ripped me out of it. Also I highly recommend you not to play like 90% of the side-quests, most of them only give you money, not even a cool side-story or an interesting item.

All in all, an alright game that loses its fervor way before you hit the end of the story.

I feel like this is like 50% of 2 different games crammed into 1. Each would be decent on their own, but put together it clashes immensely, and neither are completely finished.

One part of the game, is an action game, you can stealth, or fly planes or choppers and blast all the enemies, no one care who they are or how they die. Even innocents can be killed without any consequence. This part of the game is the "Just Cause" part of the game. You're free to roam the entire world, and are tasked with liberating it through various small side missions. This part of the game is fine, but gets rather repetitive as there are not much variation in enemies or armory. It's over the top, you're killing enemies by the hundreds. It's decent fun, but feels like it could use a bit more before its finished, and then it would simply be Just Cause.

The other game is not an action game but like a horror thriller. This part of the game is all the cut-scenes and all the forced upon you, unskippable story missions. It's how the game starts out. You need to stealth and getting hit by an enemy is serious. The villains try to get into your head. It would be interesting to have an entire game focusing on this part, a bit, I don't know, Resident Evil 7 or Adam Wake.

    Spoilers below

But these two games clashes horribly in Far Cry 5. You go from being an unstoppable killing machine, to auto hit with sleep bullets that again, and again drag you into this completely other experience, where it's suddenly supposed to be very real and dark and gritty.

I think letting players be in control when you get hit by the sleep attacks is a mistake. Surely it could be done better just keeping it all in a cut-scene. I once fought of the entire hit squad from John, but another just comes along. If you do want the player to have a fighting chance, don't give the enemies HP and the player a gun and active control.

I felt very little connection to the NPCs. And the 4 main villains seems to be meant as "Oh they're crazy, but don't they kinda have a point?" but it's just insanity all the way down, and the protagonist never calls it out. And then at the very end of the game, it's revealed that the villains were right all along. The world was ending, or you could walk away. Both so unsatisfying endings. No ending leads to the death of the madman behind all of the horrors, and they even vindicate him. I gave up on the game several times, but finally I figured at least I would get to kill Joseph, but no. Magic and a Deus Ex nuclear Armageddon happens.

The EXTREMELY super natural drugs were also so out of place to me. UNLESS you went the Just Cause cheeky action packed way completely. Combined with the serious cut-scenes and unskippable story missions, it was so weird to have "magic" in it.

I liked Far Cry 4 and I was looking for a good co-op game to play with my cousin, unlike Far Cry 4 you can play all the missions after the tutorial with a buddy. I did really like the game at first, but then I started to see a lot of the game's problems as we continued. A lot of problems weren't as clear because I was playing it co-op and co-op can make even a bad game fun. Co-op may of been my favorite part about the game, but at the same time it has so many problems. A big aspect of the co-op that will not take long to notice that you can only get so far from other the player before it teleports you back and in certain missions it can end in failure. First of all, the I don't believe that players should be forced to be that close to one another. I get having a limit on how far they can get from one another, but it is ridiculous at how limited it is. I don't think I would have as many issues with the distance if it wasn't for the fact that it caused me to fail missions multiple times. I would say the biggest example of this is actually in the last mission of the game. Without spoiling anything, the last mission is a driving sequence where both players seperate into two different vehicles. The issue with this segment is that the host player's vehicle is faster than their buddy's. If the host player gets too far ahead of the other player the mission fails. This is supposed to be a pretty crazy part of the game and it's ruined by forcing the host player to wait up for the other player so they don't fail. That is just one example of the limited distance being an issue. There are other issues with the co-op as well. Another issue is the inconveniences it causes for the player who joins the host's world. When I played with my cousin I was in his world so a lot more things were limited to me than him. One of the annoyances was me not being able to start any of the mission and being forced to wait for my cousin to get over there and do it. This is more of problem I just have with the game and I get why they wouldn't want the player that joined the world to have that ability. I still think they should give the host player the ability to choose if they want the other player to be able to do so. Compared to the next issue I had with the game that problem doesn't matter to me that much . Throughout the game, me and my cousin would complete a lot of missions and beat a lot of regions. By doing that my cousin was able to upgrade his health some more and even a get an 3 weapon slot while I couldn't get any of that. All that effort I made with my cousin and I got nothing too big out of it. There were so many things that I wanted, but couldn't get any of it because I didn't do that stuff on my world. So I decided to play it on my world as well all the way through. This was miserable especially sense during that time sense I started Far Cry 5, I started playing Far Cry 3 and beat it. Far Cry 3 is a much better game and after playing it, Far Cry 5 really started to fall apart. One those aspects was the villains. Even before I Far Cry 3 I didn't care for Joseph Seed or any of the other Far Cry 5 villians. But when I noticed how much better Far Cry 3's Vaas was, I was just bored anytime I saw any of the Far Cry 5 villians were onscreen. It wasn't helped by how the missions were done leading to encountering the villians. The game tries to give you freedom on what missions you wanna tackle. You can pick which region you wanna take over and then within the region you get to choose which missions within it. Each main mission, side mission, outpost you beat, and whatever other things you do in a region adds up points to completing the region. An interesting aspect is that you don't have to do all the main missions to complete a region. For me, I personally don't like that mechanic. It makes a lot of missions feel like they really don't matter because another playthrough I may never play that mission and still beat the game. What makes it worse is that the main missions already on their own feel like bland side missions. Speaking of side missions, they are almost indistquishable from the main missions. There is no cutscene, just some stiff person talking to you. The mission is just as simple as kill these people, protect this place, or get this thing. Not all the main missions are like this, there are good ones, but not many stick out. Then there are the main missions with the villains. What I hate about these is that I am trying to do my own thing and complete other missions, but then suddenly I am dragged into these main missions even if I don't want to. It makes the main missions feel like inconveniences and I think I would of enjoyed them more if I wasn't forced into them. Overall the game just felt frustrating and boring. Expand

Played this game on PC and PS4. I like story in game but it's my personal preference. The whole other game is awful. You will be constantly attacked by cultists, bears, wolfs, fish and all other species. Worth to play if you have this game from game pass or ps+ so you don't spend extra money. Also I hate this system where you need complete big amount not interesting missions for story.

The worst part is the same as every other Far Cry game so far: you get brutal villains who do terrible things to you, and who you desperately want to kill. You can explode, burn and mutilate anyone else in the game, but not the boss villains. No, you always get some B.S. quicktime event where you go through a long boss-battle, and once it's played out, you get a long speech from the villain who tells you endlessly how much they hate you and how wrong you were to kill them. Then, they cough a bit and simply lay back and die quietly. It's the most unsatisfying boss deaths in the history of gaming. You never get the satisfaction of really killing them - the game does it for you through unstoppable cut-scenes. No spoilers, but I guarantee YOU WILL HATE THE ENDING. Remember, I warned you! Boycott this trash, or buy only when it's heavily discounted, or best of all, just play FC4 again. It's a much better game than this is. This is just a straight-up cash-grab.

It was reported last week (Edit: now last month) and the forum support staff claim it was passed on to the dev team. No response at all from the dev side, no fix incoming. I don't care how many people worked on this game and how much effort they expended--if you guys don't care about the players enough to fix this kind of thing ASAP, you get a 1 (Edit: now a 4, see notes below for adjustments).

Edit: I would have upgraded this to a 7 or 8 if it were fixed. But it's been weeks now and Ubi still hasn't even claimed to have a fix for it. A patch came out and very few of the big bugs people have reported were fixed. The game is broken and Ubi doesn't care. I'm leaving it as a 1.

Edit 2: Honestly, I'm not sure I'd even go as high as an 8, even without the bugs. It's just not that great a game. The story is tedious and obvious and very cowardly when it comes to dealing with the actual issues at hand in the subject matter. Horizon Zero Dawn was somewhat criticized for taking their format largely from Far Cry, but honestly, they did it far better, with a much more robust codebase, a far superior and much more detailed and moving story, and just a better experience overall. If you want content like this, but clean and good and produced by people and a company that desperately care about getting things right, play HZD instead.

Edit 3: I've finished the game. The ending is absolutely terrible. It makes you wish you hadn't bothered. And, in case you've been led to believe otherwise, there's really only one ending. There are three ways the game can end, but only one is really an ending. Don't think you might get a better one. Still, I kinda fell in love with some of the soundtrack, so I'm going to be undeservedly generous and bump this up to a 2, but only because they commissioned some really lovely music.

Edit 4: Well, it took them five weeks to do it, but they finally fixed the always-midnight bug. I'll up it to a 4. The game deserves about a 6 or 7 on its own merits, but I can't let Ubi get away with such callous disregard for the players who bought their game at launch. I suggest you do not purchase Ubisoft games at launch. You are bound to save money by waiting for a sale, and you'll skip the period in which they seemingly refuse to get off of their a**es to fix the host of bugs they thought were fine to launch with.

I've got super disappointed with this game, after all, FC4 is one of my favorite games of all time.

But FC5 screwed the franchise up. FC4 was an evolution of FC3, some people didn't like the story but at least everything that was in FC3 was in FC4, they just add new things (like vehicles, new takedowns animations, weapons, etc) FC5 on the other hand simply removed many cool things

FC5 on the other hand simply removed many cool things from FC4, especially the healing animations that were cool as **** and many options of takedown. I've loved those things and I've got super disappointed, without those things, FC5 becomes just a generic third-person shooter game. The only special thing in FC5 is the possibility of bringing allies in your fights. I didn't like this mechanic because they are OP and they removed the challenge of the game. It was so fun and challenging in the previous FCs just trying to kill everyone at stealth with the many takedowns as possible. Now your "guns for hire" just do everything for you.

The story is also bad. The beginning is cool but after that is just a downfall since you don't care at all about the protagonist (he is literally a nobody without a story) and your allies are just comic relief so you can't take them seriously, you can't even take the story seriously.

Far Cry 5 is a game made by and for the emotionally bereft. Every character in this game talks with the same emotional connection that they would have to a tree. I've never seen Hurk and Willis more lifeless. Story for me is important. Every character in this game talks with the same emotional connection that they would have to a tree. I've never seen Hurk and Willis more lifeless. Story for me is important. Since 'People' liked Vaas so much from 3 (forgetting about all the other amazing actors as well), you get captured a ton of times with some magic bullet (I'm not kidding here) for each of 4 enemies to lord over you in their own unique and demented fashion. Somehow these "Magic Bullets" don't show up in the final battle when it would be so easy to just knock you out and slit your throat. So the story is both functionally and logically re******. There is not adequate em or mocap except with the demented bosses. If you are expecting a payoff for all your hard work, well? Would you like a kick to the balls or a kick to the teeth? The only good ending happens in the very beginning when you can choose to walk away. I would say take that a step further...don't even buy this game. That's really the very best ending. Save your money and avoid the disappointment. For people who just want to play with the toys, FC5 does not disappoint. There are way more toys in the sandbox than any other game I've ever known. The soundtrack is decent as well. Yet 'Story' and connection are my payoffs and this game is empty in that department. Expand

Far Cry 5 is a nice and funny FPS that you’ll enjoy most in co-op. The well-proven concept would deserve a rejuvenation and adding a story that is adequate to the rest of the game. [Issue#285]

This fresh take on the Far Cry franchise is clearly visible content-wise, but a tad more discrete on the style. If you're not bothered by the slightly repetitive formula, you'll enjoy the many strengths of this episode.

Far Cry 5 doesn’t propel the series forward — it just refines all of its elements and relegates the infamous towers to the dustbin of history. So if you‘re allergic to open worlds from Ubisoft, don’t say I didn’t warn you. But if you’re eager to meet new wacky characters, complete dozens of missions and enjoy the sights, welcome to Hope County, sinners!
