The game is a true rpg experience, modern role-playing games just don't compare to the immersive story and choices fallout new vegas has to offer, lets hope we get a sequel to this spin off one day.

But at all, this 3D Falllout game can run on low spec devices though. If you looking for good survival and story driven game that only require so low specs and my Intel core I3 8th gen, 4 GB ram could run it. It's so well made. And can keep you busy to pass the time for many hours if you want to. I have spent 72 hours in this game and so far I liked it. Though with the grapich set to low, but i still enjoyed it this far. People tend to blame the bugs among other things for not liking the game, but most of those problems stem from Bethesdas' engine, and not really the fault of Obsidian.

This game was a great follow up to Fallout 3 - Only Flaws I felt this game really had were; This game is BUG CITY and not the funny ones, the game breaking ones. The map was short, turning a 80+hour story line into a 20+hour game.

    Weapons were fun

IMO should've just been a DLC to F3

The world is also absolutly amazing , everywhere you go you will find something interisting , novac has a giant dinasour , primm has a rollercouster new vagas shines like a beacon in the wasteland , i could go any direction and there was eaither an intersitng quest or just a nice view.
now on to the bad stuff that made it a 9 instead of 10

-there are lots of bugs in this game ,not as much as in fallout 76 or cyberpunk but there are still noticable sometimes a dialouge option didnt appear , so i couldnt complete a quest, sometimes my companion would get stuck in a rock and i had to fast travel to get him out , when i alt tab from the game sometimes i would be in the menu and the whole game would stop , but i could still move around . But worst of all , around 50% of the time when i tried to start up the game , it would completely freeze at the loading screen and the only option would be to restart the PC , one time i couldnt start the game for 20 min or so .
-the graphics are dated and everything in the world is either rock or sand , but i didnt mind it , i still play half life 1 from time ti time and that game didnt age well.
-the shooting is a little stiff and not that good , but the amount of guns customisation and ammo makes up for it

and thats about it , this game has lots of great stuff that i didnt metion but i dont want this review to be 5000 characters long , so ill just quickly go over some stuff

    - the character creation is amaizing,
-the 3 factions all have intresting believes in the world , so it isnt a "you wanna be a good guy , or a bad guy?" choice .
-the game is fairly difficult ( i think its a plus , super easy games bore me real fast).
-game has hardcore mode if youre into that .

in conclusion , this game is f*cking awesome , and you should play it , its 10 dollars on steam , cmon

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really liked the game, first of all, for the interesting plot that has 4 endings, and even these endings can be different depending on the player's actions, also interesting quests, for example, a quest that hardly anyone missed the quest begins, you just need to clean the room from ghouls ends with the launch of ghouls to the moon, and then this quest is variable, and I have not yet mentioned the quest food for gourmets, atomic tango and so on, the world itself is also remembered just exploring the world you will have fun also this game was liked by fans of the original parts of Fallout why? The reason is that this is practically the same Fallout, only in isometric the game can be praised for a long time, but there are also disadvantages, probably the most important disadvantage is the bugs, they are not critical, but still somehow upset and sometimes interfere with the passage, and so there were no more disadvantages for me. I liked the game not only because of the interesting plot and quests, but also because of the open world, I can say one of the best games Expand

The main story of “Fallout New Vegas” wasn’t as interesting as the side quests, the decisions that you make really changes the further story. The reputation system in the game is amazing, you always need to track your reputation with every faction in the game.

Repeatability of the game is pretty good. There are a few choices: you can play on hardmode where you will need to keep track on more stats, enemies do more damage to you etc. etc. You can also play different playstyles like sniper, hitman, trader, cowboy, politician etc.

The fps mechanics of the game are quite good they’re not as good as in “Fallout 4”, but the roleplay of “Fallout New Vegas” definitely complements the shooting mechanics, the skill and perk system has a lot of choices and you can create any kind of character that you would want.

In conclusion the game is amazing, I would definitely recommend to at least try the game for yourself. I have completed the game a few times and I still have ideas how I could complete the game in other ways.

Dread is a good word for this game in general, plus the Fallout games before it. They are honestly very scary - sometimes passively by the player never knowing what danger may lay around the corner, able to severely damage them or kill them, and most importantly the sheer trepidation and horror created by the atmosphere, scenery depicting a future of a world in ruins after nuclear destruction, and so on; and other times aggressively with sudden movements, obviously contributing to the frequent trepidation that moves up your spine.

Some side quests are very challenging, and there is not much curiosity. The mechanics and graphics are already lousy. And of course, bugs are annoying since this is a Bethesda game. By the way, it would be better if you give the character to speak rather than combat. Because combat is boring and the best part of the game is that if your speech is at a high level, you can pass without fighting. There are a ton of choices to make that certainly feel difficult and have an impact later in the game. In general the flow of the game felt great.

The downside is that the game is riddled with glitches. Expect to load autosaves often as some quests will break and you will suddenly be stuck in between pixels or in a wall. It was especially annoying to see the last quest of the game glitch, when the tension was high and I was expecting a climax.

Graphics dont hold out fort this generation but that is to be expected. Even though the mojave desert is immersive, it lacks cool, outstanding places to visit.

Fallout New Vegas is a game I am drawn many years after release. American RPG's aren't very enjoyable to me, usually with mediocre consequences and lackluster non-choices. Fallout New Vegas is different, and deserved a higher metacritic for more than one reason. Fallout is known for its open world, and massive branching story arcs. New Vegas is no different. The landscape is quite massive. Dialogue options are plentiful. The amount of perks and abilities is staggering. The amount of things you can loot and acquire is overwhelming. All these should point to a very deep and rich game experience, but there are problems.

With so much information, there needs to be a way for it to be organized in a way that doesn't make it a jumbled mess. And that's exactly where New Vegas falls short. After I progressed a good few hours into the game, my bag was full of goodies and random stuff. The weapon section alone was a jumbled mess. The chaotic amount of ammo and weapons are all mixed in the same category, making browsing to the weapon I want a very difficult task. There are no shortcuts whatsoever. Having to pull p the pip boy every 20 seconds breaks the pace of the game way too much. This adds onto the numerous times you need to pull it up to see quest objectives, and double check marker location, cause besides a marker on the main screen, there's absolutely no indication of how far away you are from the destination.

There were times when I wasn't sure if I should be approaching a certain area because there may be too many enemies, enemies who are way higher level than me, or random proximity mines on the ground. These all cause cheap deaths, which break the pace of the game. For this very reason, I found myself having to quick save constantly, which in itself was annoying.

There's no explanation for a lot of the effects that happen to you throughout the game. I'm getting radiation...ok, so what? What does radiation do to me? Oh, I'm losing good karma...ok, how does karma affect me? So many questions, but no answers, until I google it.

The game gives you all these perk choices at the very start of the game, but you have no idea what you need. How much charisma do I need? Will there be a lot of dialogue choices which takes advantage of that? How important is combat? Will there be situations which screw me over because I assigned only 1 point to strength? How important is perception? Will there be a lot of enemies in the hub world that I can't get past unless I have some perception? You have to guess all these things before you even set foot out the door. The most logical choice is to assign the points evenly, cause you no knowledge whatsoever of what to expect. You start to get an idea of what to expect after getting out of the first town, but you perks are already locked in at this point. Oops, you want to be a charismatic person and pass speech checks, but you only assigned 3 to speech? Too bad, slowly grind your way there.

Not knowing what was a main quest and what was a side quest was really annoying as well. I want to know who shot me in the f***ing head, but I could be following false leads because this guy promised me information, if I help him get this guy, but the guy I'm trying to get will tell me, if I help him with this. It's just quest-ception, on and on. But the final part of that mission, might not give me what I want to know, case the entire branch was a side quest. By the end of it, I'm scared to take on another mission, cause it might be a quest-ception of side quests. After 3 long branches of side quests, I'm so drained, I don't even care about who shot me in the head anymore, and just want to stop playing, or want the credits to roll.

I do love the freedom, and the story branches the game offers. It's truly remarkable how many ways you can play through this game. But all that is largely hindered by the lack of knowledge, and organization. Overall, the experience felt like a jumbled mess for the most part, but when things worked, it was amazing...which unfortunately was far and few in between.

The writing and the story is spectacular in this game. What can I stay, the story pulled me in. Hmm, next we shall talk about the characters and the quest, ah yes, nearly perfect. It's really cool that FNV is set in a desert setting because it really shows that the world got hit by a nuclear catastrophe. Also, did I mention that this game has multiple endings? You start from surviving a bullet to the head, to making an independent New Vegas while kicking the NCR and Caesar's Legion out of Hoover Dam and the city itself - that's bad-ass. However, it won't get a 10 from me because of the bugs and glitches... ouch... Expand

Played this game on PS3 when it first came out then got it on PC a few years later when I built my first PC and it still remains one of my all time favorite games. With over 50,000 mods on the nexus this game has more than enough extra content to keep you going for years like it has for me.

Fallout: New Vegas follows the story of the courier who has been shot and robbed for the package he was delivering a Platinum chip. The game is set in a dull but immersive Wasteland of Vegas called the Mojave Wasteland where every building and wanderer you witness has a story you can visualise and the dull environment lets the centre of the Mojave wasteland shine. The New Vegas Strip you can see the Strip from everywhere in the Wasteland its bright shining lights add so much to the environment seeing the contrast from the dull colour to a bright shining oasis of the Lucky 38. The games dialogue is what really makes it shine the game features over 65,000 unique lines of dialogue a world record to this day and the freedom the game gives you makes your character essentially feel like it is a different version of yourself you can choose from any of the factions to side with and the addition of a fame stat for all of the different factions which has massive impact on if you can complete quests for the faction or if the faction will shoot you on sight. The gameplay leaves a little to be desired the games combat would be lost without the V.A.T.S option this allows you to go slow motion and target a certain part of the body while in V.A.T.S nobody can hit you and you get a percentage chance of hitting a certain part of the body. The game works through a XP and the aforementioned system of fame this allows the game to have an extra feeling of completion and that what you are doing matters. Another part of the game I feel adds another level of enjoyment is the weapon selection if you want to kill someone with a Nuka Cola sign you can the game had lots of amazing unique weapons that all have some sort of reference to pop culture or history. The games extensive Levelling system allows the player to make their character an expert in whatever they want but does not allow them to be an expert in everything a character could be good at talking with 100 Speech and 100 Barter but be terrible at Sneaking you have to pick and choose what you want and with the trait and perk option the game allows you to gain additional bonus’s like the wild wasteland trait which makes strange things happen adding a lot of Easter eggs into the game and the Sneering Imperialist perk which gives you added damage against tribe members. The last thing I am going to highlight is the biggest problem with the game which in no way is the Developers fault as they were forced to release the game early by Bethesda the amount of the glitches this game has impacts the game very negatively there are many quest glitches which make the game impossible to finish personally I have ran into 2 game ending glitches which has set me back multiple hours but despite these I keep on playing the game no matter what it’s just that good. The Bad

    Same Character creation
    Same UI

    Weak DLC
    Weak Protagonist (The Courier?)

    BOS (Brotherhood) was dumbed down
World looks too pretty to be post-apocalyptic
    Less exploration
    Characters are less memorable

As you can see (at least for me) the bad far out weighs the good. I feel that NV is a very overrated fallout game. Fallout 3 is much better. Obsidian (and with all due respect) looks as if they just copied a lot of stuff from FO3. So yeah. Not a horrible game, but certainly not a great game, and surely not up to par with FO2 and FO3. Again, a very overrated game. I'll give it a 7, because although I didn't like it as much as the previous titles, it's alright. But at least for now, FO3 still rules the series.

A truly disappointing game. As hyped up as many people made it seem it certainly did not live up to its “legacy”. You start off in a bland and boring world, with a color pallet reminded me of post-hangover piss. The entire game is like this unfortunately.

Not a single character has more than 1 character trait. One dimensional and flat every character could be summed up with a single sentence. Their motivations are straightforward at best, cliche at worst. The story is boring and fails to get your attention. It is a story you can easily tell was made by people who did not care about what they were making akin to the Minions movie or the Emoji movie. People who needed a story and undoubtedly wrote it in an afternoon. The studio needed a story rather than someone having a story to tell.

So if not for the story, what reason is there to play? That’s a question I sought to answer and failed. The fighting is bland and unserviceable. The enemies rarely respond to their environment instead opting to either stand as idle sims with their rifles or run to you shooting you until either you or them run out of health.

So if not for the gunplay or the story what’s the reason to play? Well considering those are the only things in the game that were given any attention, there’s really nothing to do. This game is easily the greatest disappointment in gaming. I genuinely had a better time with fallout 76 and Tactics. Do yourself a favor and just read the story summary on Wikipedia. I’ll genuinely say that would at least be more enjoyable as you wouldn’t have had to waste time on this godforsaken game.

If you knew this game's developing story, with limited budget, tight schedule and the obligatory use of an ancient and flawed engine (more so for a game from 2010); and did not knew about its critically acclaimed reviews from critics in general, you would be pretty skeptical about its potentials, and you would be right.

Fallout: New Vegas can pretty much be summed as a miracle final product, it had everything to be a bad game, but the hard work and love for the franchise from developers made it not only the best game of the franchise overall, but one of the best RPGs from the 2010's.

I will not elaborate about the whole developing cycle and problems this game had during its production, you can read more about it in other reviews here or even in other places if you look for it. Basically Obsidian was in a pretty bad spot in the making of the game, and they were rushed to finish the whole product in only 2 years, for compairson that's half of the time it took to make Fallout 3 and even less than the time Bethesda used to produced the "fourth" game in the franchise, even though both Fallout 3 and 4 had way bigger teams and budgets; people usually points out that Fallout 3 had to be produced from the scratch and thats why it took longer to make, but thats a half-truth since the third game of the franchise used the same engine as TES:Oblibion with some changes.

There're a few aspects that make this game stand as the best game of the franchise (mainly as an RPG experience) and one of the best RPGs from the last 2 decades. One of those aspects is the progression system, it is quite simple, but you really feal like you're building your own character with its own set of abilities and singularities, you actually need to focus on some atributes and you wont be able to become a jack of all trades like other recent RPGs like Skyrim and Fallout 4, games that I would like to emphasize as amazing experiences, but more as adventure like games with RPG elements than RPGs by itself.

Other than the progression itself, its necessary to consider that the way the story starts and progresses throughout the game favors the character you're building in the game; it gives you liberty to 'role-play' as pretty much any type of person you want to be at the ingame world, since you don't have big cues about your past predetermined by the developer; along with the progression system displayed in the last paragraph and well written dialog, those aspects makes FNV close to an perfect RPG.

Other than the RPG feeling itself, the world (in that case The Mojave Wasteland) and the story of the game are incredible. One of the best things about the Fallout series overall is the grey area of the morally right and wrong in the post-nuclear war world. As we can see in the first game for example, we have relatively big hubs of corporations like the Crimson Caravan that basically works as an mercenary group, not exactlly good or bad, but a group of people doing what they can do best to survive in the wrecked world of the series, the same goes for the other so-called factions like the signature Brotherhood of Steel that serves as one of the landmarks of all games; they all have their share of wrongdoings - and righteousness. In FNV this is still the case, more so than even other segments of the series like the the third game and Fallout 2, where its pretty obvious which factions are good (almost perfectlly good) and the ones that are bad. Don't get me wrong, FNV still has an evil faction, but even the evil one has its reasons to act the way it does (which are pretty convincing in some points), I will not elaborate in that aspect longer than I have to as to not spoil the experience of the game if you seek the whys of each faction, but the bad faction mirrors itself in Ancient Rome (that includes accepting slavery) but not just to be bad and all powerfull, but to restore the purpoted Pax Romanna, that is, the piece that comes with the unification and uniformization of all tribes and cultures.

Other than the amazing characters, factions and progression system; the quest structures are usually packed with contet and intricacies that can be achieved in many approaches, not the traditional 'talk or shoot' of many RPGs, I suggest GMTK's Anatomy of a Side Quest on Youtube if you permit yourself to be spoilled of a single side quest from the game to acknowledge the many ways you can proceed throughout quests. In that aspect FNV is closer to an ImmersiveSim than a RPG, because it gives you many ways to progress.

Besides all good stuff I said until now I would not consider FNV as an flawless game; the Gambryo engine utilized in the game is horrible, filled with bugs and glitches that you will see often during the game - gamebreaking bugs are not frequent tho, and with my 400+ hours I havent experienced one yet, other than frustrating crashes both on PC and Xbox 360. I gave a perfect 10 to this game considering production drawbacks.

I just want to thank Obsidian for making this game, if Bethesda Develop this game themself that me this game would be worst and named a different game because Bethesda will never make a fallout game set in the western coast of America always the Eastern Coast.

This game probably has one of the best stories ever made on games. But the time was not good for this game, specially the graphics and gameplay. Let's remember that this was not finished also. Unplayable without mods, but worth a try if you can stand the cluncky gameplay. It's better than any fallout ever made btw

For a sandbox game, it is boring to explore and there are a small amount of unmemorable scripted encounters. NPCS are touted as having so much better dialogue and writing than other entries. However, many repeat the same information as the last person you spoke to and it feels like you're getting constant exposition dumps thrown at you. If you don't like the humor then you're going to have a bad time. As per usual, there are the familiar charming little bugs that come with the games in this engine.

Being newer than Fallout 3, there are some small improvements such as crafting, hardcore mode and the companion wheel. My favourite thing about this game is how the companions have personal quests and a variety of ending slides. You cannot however play past these slides. The reputation system is also a nice touch and ensures that some of the towns will remember your actions: good or bad.

There are many factions to enhance the worldspace and the ability to disguise as a member of them is a really fun mechanic. Unfortunately, they are not all fully fleshed out and it can feel limiting to play siding with them. The DLC also adds backstory to your character in the middle of the game! I do not feel that this makes it a good roleplaying experience as you may have to rewrite everything to fit these events. You are also still limited to being a courier, which I do not mind. It is not the entirely open character for you to create though. Oh and J.Sawyer says you're not allowed to have amnesia so don't go roleplaying like that as you may have wanted to. Your courier has the option to ask things that they should definitely know given the events of Lonesome Road. I prefer the other protagonists where you get at least a little snippet of their life to build upon in unique ways.

The introduction is very weak. It needed more than just a cutscene and does not establish the setting well to players new to the series. Whilst Goodsprings does introduce you to elements of the game such as combat and choices, it feels disconnected to the main plot. Many of the main quests feel like side quests and are poorly designed. Come Fly With Me is one of the worst offenders with so much backtracking! It is the only time i have ever felt the need to enter "movetoqt" into the console.

Ultimately, I do not feel like this game works well with the sandbox that it was put in. Despite having a short development time and unfamiliar tools, it doesn't really justify the quality of the game as it was hardly made from scratch with existing assets and story from the cancelled Fallout: Van Buren. For example, Dragon Age 2 had miles better writing in it's short development time.

Whilst a vocal few fans state that this is the best in the series, I'd only rate it above Fallout 76 and BOS as a fan of over 10 years. It is a poor introduction to the series and has put many friends and family off of the series entirely. Which is really a shame! The original Fallout 1 is a much better one to play. If it is too old for your liking, Fallout 3 and 4 are incredibly fun to play and still have excellent moral choices and roleplaying options with strong exploration to weave into your characterisation.

This is truly an amazing game in terms of overall content and narrative but I have to say that the gameplay is outdated even by the time it was released I must recommend this to anybody

The combat is not the best since it is basically the same game engine as fallout 3 and has a ton of reused assets of fallout 3 as well. Amazing thing they were able to pull off given the insanely small time period they gave obsidian to make it. I just wish that they would remake this game with newer game engines and better visuals and performance. If you are into rpg games and post apocalyptic world rpg honestly this is the best rpg to explore that but again be warned since time has not been kind to its visuals but then again who plays an rpg like this for the graphics. Fallout New Vegas is a very good part of the series. Movies such as "Mad Max" or "The Book of Eli" immediately come to mind. In general, the idea with a post-apocalypse and a casino is not bad, the developers are great
Fallout likes character creation, leveling, free movement, dynamic music, many quest tasks.
The only thing I don't like is the engine since TES Oblivion, it's terrible. Even if you install 1000 mods, it won't change. But the game is worthy of attention. I think this is one of the best games of the decade.

Obsidian took fallout 3 and turned it into something Bethesda only dreamed of. You get tons and tons and tons of fun.

Tiene bugs made in Bethesda. Recomendado.

Fallout: New Vegas looks like an Add On to Fallout 3, but that should not mean, that it's a copy of its forerunner. It scores with an great atmosphere, nice story and all the typical and awesome Fallout features.
