Unlike many others I actually felt satisfied with this dlc. Although it's very linear which isn't necessarily a bad thing , I found the environments and level design very pleasing what with the collapsed buildings and such. Gameplay is standard fallout gameplay except with some new weapons and some new enemies and I found the story to be pretty decent with a solid conclusion.

This is a great conclusion to the DLC trilogy, being second best after Old world Blues. It has a great story line, and a good amount of side lore that you can find. It makes you think about the courier's journey as a whole and what has become of the courier. Don't listen to people complaining about it being linear. Yes it IS linear but for a reason. It was linear, but the story kept it going and was a good closure to the ED-E and Courier story. Getting to know their past was a great experience. It's the shortest add-on and doesn't have almost any sidequests, but it's still better than Dead Money. Pickens approves!

Short and underwhelming. This removes a large part of the freedom in the host game. It still has some great moments - however it kind of misses the point. Recommended for people who can't get enough new vegas - it's nice having the entire package to keep extending this great game. However this is a weak link.

I started this DLC as a level 43 and by the time i completed it i was 49. Certain parts will definitely be difficult if you aren't high enough level and if you don't have enough caps to repair your weapons and armor (they will rapidly decrease in condition). The story is strictly linear, with your only real decision coming at the very end when you decide what to do with Ulysses. ButI started this DLC as a level 43 and by the time i completed it i was 49. But overall, it was an enjoyable DLC and one that offered new enemies, weapons, techs, abilities, and an interesting story. If you're a fan of the story and aren't that concerned about its lack of available decisions, then you should definitely pick it up. Expand

The game is just a challenge. They add challenging enemies and shiny new weapons.

Oh where to begin. The writers try awfully hard to pull together the disparate elements of the game and the DLC, which I think is completely unnecessary. This one was just not as much stuff as the others.

Short and linear but fun. I loved the settings of the divide, even though i was expecting something much better than this.
Its a shame that this is the last FONV DLC. So far i think Honest Hearts is the only one well worth the cash.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Given all the foreshadowing of Ulysses' character in the previous DLCs, I expected a game-breaking finality, something that Lonesome Road doesn't really have. Instead we have a character accusing us (the player) of doing something we have no memory of and thus is for the most part disconnected with our experience.
That aside, the gameplay aspect is (as ever) top notch, environments, NPCs through to the easter eggs are excellent and well implemented.

The new enemies are basically re-skinned versions of old ones they did add some cool new weapons and armor. Throughout the entire you have ulysses lamely taunting you through ED-E with alot hypno-sciencey babble about history. It was heavily linear not having a signal side quest but it was fun to explore unique locations. At the end with the final confrontation with Ulysses as soon as i killed him ( that's not the only option) i felt wow that's it my fav game with a crappy wrap up. They had a cool thing were you could launch nukes at the NCR or Caesar's Legion but it doe's NOT effect hoover dam or the fort but instead they added a whole new location that doesn't change the game at all. Overall im disappointed they had a great story and a great idea they just didn't deliver. Expand

Not as bad as Dead Money, but the definite second worst DLC. Extremely linear with even fewer branching paths than Dead Money, which I didn't think was possible, and a poorly written story and villain that rambles mostly about things that don't matter. How do you finish an epic story like this? How do you tie up the loose ends? How do you explain everything? Well, you cop out and reveal that they're all in purgatory and... Oh wait, this isn't a review for the LOST finale? Oh my bad.

    You see, Lonesome Road is like the end of LOST. You've spent so much damn time and money getting there that almost anything could be the end, just so you can sleep at night without worrying how it's all going to end. You want answers dammit! Ulysses sounds like an epic character, and he probably is, but he babbles and make no sense. He claims the NCR don't have the answer. Or Legion, Or House. But doesn't really give us his ideas, other than a 'clean slate,' which is what all of these organisations started with anyway;

To put it another way, Ulysses is like a stoner; frustrated with how things are run, but not actually doing anything constructive. There is a great air of finality about this DLC, fuelled by our curiousness into why he hates us. But Lonesome Road is VERY linear. I know it's a raod, but you can't choose to go to places before others. Not much exploring. Very story driven, at one point you listen to him for around 8 minutes. Some cool designs, Ulysses is interesting but ultimately flawed because he's so cague. Like LOST, you know you've been a little robbed, but you're just glad you got there.

Hmm. This DLC felt very linear compared to the other ones for New Vegas. I won't spoil the relationship that unfolds between the Courier (player) and Ulysses though. Expand

Lonesome road is a different DLC; I wouldn't call it good or bad, and I don't know what to write when reviewing it.

I do, however want to say one thing; do not buy this DLC alone. At this point if anyone gets FNV it should most probably be the ultimate version, and I still feel it's worth playing with the other three addons.

Lonesome Road serves as the final DLC for Fallout: New Vegas and it goes out in a literal bang. Unlike previous DLCs, Lonesome Road is incredibly narrow with few opportunities to deviate from the main path. Unless you dumped enough points into your sneaking ability, you will do a hefty load of shooting, which becomes numbing throughout this 3 hour ride.

The lore is the reason any Fallout fan would appreciate in this DLC since the catchphrase "War never changes." is reflected beautifully in the desolate landscape of the Divide and the stories that lie within. Ulysses himself is a great character but he is your only cache of story bits in terms of direct storytelling aside from the recurring ED-E who accompanies you for this final journey.

In many ways Lonesome Road has the credentials to be the best of the DLC bunch with the amazing tone, characterization, and action setpieces. Too bad it does not support playstyles and it becomes numbing from all the gung-ho destruction in replacement of the occasional dark humor, which is painfully absent.

Like all the other DLC it's average. With only a few enemy types, to continually shoot through on one linear path till you get to the boring bad guy at the end.

The only things I liked was it was quite challenging with some interesting new gear to get.

It's considerably better than Dead Money because it focuses on combat with weapons you bring into The Divide rather than doing fetch quests, but it's still pretty bad. The character Ulysses talks in a sort of pseudo philosophical way that doesn't give any answers, and the assumed back story between my character and him doesn't make any sense. I've looked around the internet to see if I'm missing something, but there's just nothing there. He's a generic villain with no real motivation.

A frustrating part of this DLC is that deathclaws will spawn from scripted events. Since deathclaws are extremely fast and kill any level character in 2 hits, this means you absolutely must have explosives with you, and you'll need to quicksave/quickload a lot. That removes something from the adventure of the game because it breaks the immersion.

In the end, is this DLC worth buying? I suppose it's worth $5. If you ignore the plot, it's still a few hours of fun.

The Divide itself is an interesting idea in concept, having a unique look from the rest of the other desert terrain in the game. The difficulty of the region is steeper then most of the game, which offers a fun challenge and introduces some interesting areas to explore. Sadly, the potential for this DLC was mostly wasted, as the region and its story is linear, mediocre, and does not deliver on the satisfying villain and story that were hinted at throughout the rest of New Vegas. If you are have the Ultimate Edition of New Vegas, I recommend playing it just to get the new content it has to offer (the weapons and armor are quite nice). If you are strapped on cash though, it's not worth the full price in my opinion due to the disappointment it will bring to those who are interested in the story of New Vegas.
