Overall play-time to complete the expansion is around 4-5 hours, which does not sound like a lot; however this needs to be matched against its price of USD 9.99, which we believe is more than fair given its quality.

A brilliant ending for the story of New Vegas. Straightforward, but still very engaging RPG experience. [November 2011, p.100]

However important its place in the lore may be, this DLC simply doesn't play very well to the main game's strengths.

And that's about all you get, aside from a few new toys, some forgettable items, and another unnecessary boost to the level cap. [Holiday 2011, p.75]

Do not waste your money on this trainwreck. If you really want to know how it ends, go to the Fallout Wikia and read the article on Ulysses.

Sure, it's kind of difficult to complete, but still a pretty good add-on. I anticipated a more bizarre story, but overall, this was not that bad. I agree with some of the other reviewers when they say Dead Money was intense. Dead Money is my favorite DLC add-on for New Vegas. Why? It's the coolest and creepiest expansion! Full Review »

You basically have Ulysses taunting you with typical villain talk spouting pseudophilosophical crap while you go in his direction. And that's exactly what you do, make a straight line for Ulysses, since there is no new areas to speak of, it's just a long, straight area with two or three side areas that aren't involved in any quests (there aren't any sidequests!). The whole thing can be finished in around 3 hours, and it's basically a shoot 'em up. The whole DLC is comprised of pretty much 3 kinds of enemies, Marked Men (reskinned ghouls using weapons), Tunnelers (reskinned spore carriers) and Deathclaws (like half a dozen or so). The DLC has so much potential, hinting at the Courier's past, but nothing is really clear, and you get out of it knowing even less about the past of your character... why even bother then? Ulysses basically just speaks cryptically to cover up the fact that he's got nothing interesting to say. Also, on the end, you get a chance to nuke either NCR or the Legion: does it affect the world? Nope! Instead of bombing, say, the Hoover Dam or the Encampment, you will bomb a random location that's basically just a chance to kill ghouls and get loot. Zero effect on the main quest. Much like Mothership Zeta (the final and hugely disappointing DLC for Fallout 3), Fallout New Vegas will end on a low note. Too sad. Full Review »
