  • Summary: 10 Tales of Terror from 10 Twisted Minds. Made in only 7 Sleepless Nights. The Dread X Collection is a series of small games created by some of the most talented indie devs around, all with the same mission: create the P.T. for the horror project of their dreams.

As experiments go, The Dread X Collection is a complete success. Out of ten games I found four to be legitimately wonderful, and I only regret loading up two. That’s an incredible ratio for a game jam, and the highs more than justify the paltry purchase price. I don’t know if I’ll ever get to see expanded versions of any of these works, but I’m happy that I got to see developers going hog-wild and coming up with truly unique experiences.

Thus becomes an issue with ranking the Dread X Collections, as how do you rate a game that is in itself a collection of smaller original games, with nothing else to it? With the varying quality of some of the titles within, it would be more sensible to rate each one individually, but since I can't do that here I've decided to try to give the entire thing a rating I think it deserves, while stating that the price is worth it for just some of these games, such as Outsiders, Summer Night, and especially Shatter.
