Like a lot of people i enjoyed Dragon Age Origins, and have completed it several times. Dragon Age 2 however was worthless. If you feel the same, stay away from Dragon Age: Inquisition.
    Here's why:
The characters are uninteresting, you don't "bond" with any of them, like you did in Dragon Age Origins. I couldn't care less if any of my companions left or died. And romantic interests?

The characters are uninteresting, you don't "bond" with any of them, like you did in Dragon Age Origins. I couldn't care less if any of my companions left or died. And romantic interests? Forget it, their personalities are so hollow and boring you just can't bother to withstand the amount of effort in it. There's not even a great pair of **** you can go after.

The story is weak and thin. Where in DOA you went on an epic journey to gather an army to battle the arche demon; Inquisition feels more like political drama, where you attend a lot of pointless meetings. Unfortunately the story resembles quite a lot the story in Dragon Age 2 - let me elaborate, you complete what you thought was this "end of the game goal" (like in DOA where you defeat the arch demon), in the beginning of the game and a whole new problem arises.

The worst part is though, the massive amount of necessary grinding, I mean Jesus Christ, as some other people put it, its like playing an MMO-RPG in single player, if you want to get a small edge over you enemies in this game, prepare for several hours of mindless grinding for that god damm flower you need, or ores, or gems, or cloth or whatever - some of it is even drops from mobs with an extreme low drop rate.

The only good thing about this game is the graphics, but i simply refuse to give a good score because of that - you're better off just looking at a benchmarking program.

You could consider this review as incomplete, since i stopped playing after chapter two. The guy who told me for the 30 th time to go gather x amount of y for him, can shove it!

For this game, loading takes longer than playing, it is so long that I have time to actually die from going away preparing a coffee and being attacked by any random evil spawn and on the other hand, completing any mission/quest or what else is done in a matter of seconds.

The game is kind of "pretty" if one do not mind the absolute sense of superficiality emanating from this production.

The combat is dumbed down and feels more like a hack a slash with a computer-controlled party than any form of action/rpg game.

There is virtually no competency tree or, for a better description of it, it is so simple that I still wonder why it exists.

And would someone explain why the main character is propelled to be the head of everything in almost an instant without more than 1 person frowning a little? It hardly makes any sense.

The dialogues? Well, lets keep the dialogues away as they are just a black and white matter. I do not feel that any choice is adding to the story apart from the general approval/disapproval of some members of the party.

I would have felt cheated paying the full price, having bought the game with a discount I still feel cheated in a way.

They promised me a great tactical RPG but instead they gave me a third-person-hold-your mouse-and-see-how-something attacks automatically-and-let- the-other-characters do their-thing game. This isn't fun at all, I feel like a chore playing this game , trying to make the camera work in the aerial view , trying to make the loot system make sense (You need to get close to the item you want to pick it up and then click it with the cursor.. why? why? ), trying to like the characters, trying to like what is unlike-able I wanted to belive that it was going to be a good game, I even trusted the critics reviews and disregarded the huge amount of negative feedback by the users. Terribly MMORP style game play for a single person game.
    Clunky gameplay.
    Terrible writing.
Designed for people who just want something shiny and flashy (which it isn't even shiny or flashy) with no real plot.

Terrible game. Worse then DA2, mission accomplished bioware.

Boring as hell. Game waste your time running around your stupid castle. Gave it a one cause the controls are at least better than Witcher. The quest are similar to MMO's. The game world looks nice but is empty. Couldn't even finish the game cause it was so damn boring. I hate to say this, but DA2 was better than this and I thought DA2 sucked.

The only plus, in my opinion, is the facial recognition of the characters. I honestly wanted my money back after all the false hype created by the cronie reviewers and the developer. It is a true snorefest that makes Elder Scrolls look refreshing. I jumped back into gaming only to make a quick exit after this disappointing title. None of these issue's are mentioned in what i used to think was a reputable and trustworthy site, pcgamer,

For once, the metacritic user score and comments are the closest to the truth when it comes to the state of the game.

The story is terrible, it really is.
I couldn't get hooked into it like previous games.
The characters are soulless and the plot is just plain wrong, boring and unbelievable.

The graphics are ok, optimization seems ok, but if this had the gameplay of the original, i wouldn't mind if it looked like pong.

Im a bit gutted that i purchased my game through G2A, which offer no refunds, right when i didn't need to waste money,
but this was truly a waste.

It feels like im playing a really bad version of World of Warcraft single player, with better graphics.
The gameplay is just as brainless, and your on your own.

Dragon Age: Origins is a fantastic game. Dragon Age 2 was a disappointment, but was still playable and somewhat enjoyable, despite it's significant problems. Dragon Age: Inquisition, however, has so many problems and major design flaws which make it the worst game in the series by far.

The worst problem with this game is probably the combat, which has been completely overhauled and doesn't resemble combat in the first two games at all. The game is designed around using a controller in 3rd person mode and mashing the buttons while letting the AI control the other team members - this is no joke. Remember when BioWare promised deep tactical combat with a tactical camera mode for those who like tactical combat? Well, forget that, because tactical combat is completely broken. The transistion from 3rd person mode to tactical mode is not fluid, the camera in tactical mode is awkward and hardly usable, not to mention that you can harldy see the action that is taking place on the battlefield in this mode. This probably wouldn't bee too bad, but the problem is that you can ONLY issue commands in tactical camera mode for some unexplainable reason. It is hard to believe, but even in Mass Effect you have more control over the battlefield and your companions than in this successor to Dragon Age: Origins.

The tactical mode has apparently been shoddily tacked on solely to appease fans of Dragon Age: Origins or Baldur's Gate, but it wasn't designed to please them, it was designed to make them shell out cash for this game by deceiving them with false promises. Tactical combat is so frustrantingly bad in DA:I that you are eventually forced to give up playing with keyboard + mouse and just hook up your Xbox 360 controller to the PC, then mash the buttons on the controller while letting the AI control your companions. The button mashing combat isn't even any fun either, and is probably some of the worst combat i have ever seen in a game, the game plays like a really (really) bad MMO.

The console centric inventory UI is also terrible, even for console standards - another worst in the series. The story is very lackluster. Characters are boring, even returning ones. Crafting is just a complete broken mess. The world is beautiful and the graphics are fantastic, but it is such a shame to see this all go to waste with such bad game design.

DA:I simply doesn't feel like a Dragon Age game, it doesn't even feel like a Bioware game. After 3 bad games in a row and 5 years of EA ownership, I can honestly say that BioWare's game designing magic is definitely completely gone and that this once legendary studio is truly dead. Bioware (better said, EAWare) is not a seal for quality anymore, it is a brandname that you might want to avoid in the future.

What happend between Dragon Age Origin and now? The game used to be really good ... now it's an "MMORPG-Combat-Like" Action button masher designed for Consoles.

    2. The story, is not engaging at all. Right out the gate, they throw you into these mundane MMO style quests, that although they are somewhat loosely tied to the main story, are not engaging or interesting.
    3. The graphics, are OK. Mediocre at best, nothing impressive for a game of 2014. Im running it max settings, and my Skyrim looks as good if not better (and how old is that game?)
    4. The menus are clunky, and not user friendly.
    5. Not a lot of variety in character creation. I know that dragon age has not been known for its character class diversity, but seriously, this is such a dumbed down, watery version of what RPGs used to be like, its depressing.
    6. The talent trees are very shallow and basic.
    7. Overall, i'd say this game plays like an MMO, that was never quite completed, and just ended up being a single player game. I tried, really, really hard to like it, but in the end, I just ended up being bored. Stupid me for buying the hard copy, otherwise I would have contacted EA for a refund.

My girl went down and see me play for a bit and she asked if those are my bodyguards ;) she's not into gaming but that sentence capture the whole feeling of the game I directly control one character manually using all the abilities almost constantly while the rest of the 'team' just do their thing. Additionally I can't really set any meaningful behaviours for example I would like the mage to cast a barier (absorbs damage) not at the begining of the fight as he tends to cast it but 'when character drop below x% of life but nope there is no such thing and this apply to all spells/abilities. All you can do in tactics is set how many potions they can drink and when and how much stamina should they keep reserved...

There is zero tactics so far as you cant even queue orders so if you want your rogue to enter stealth go around the enemy and than use his backstab you have to do it yourself or keep track of where he/she is and issue orders manually and thats just one example.

This game is meant to be played with the controller 100%, pc controls (mouse/keyboard) works somehow in tactical camera but the camera itself is messed up to the point that its just painful to use. The angles you can work with are messed up completely, there is no free cam, you can either zoom max out and see everything from the top (hotline miami) or zoom in and get to the ground in 3rd person view, you cant have the camera up and just change the angle to not be on 90 degree, moving the mouse to the edge of the screen does nothing you have to move the camera around with keys... you dont have to spam the button or hold it to attack as in tactical view you only need to click attack once and the character will keep attacking it until the enemy dies but the way the camera works makes the whole mode very cumbersome and really painful to use. I just gave up on it as I was fighting more with the camera controls than with my enemies.

Game would be awesome if they just implement the free camera and would look amazing if I can just move it around as entirely different entity. I would play the whole game in tac-cam than. The jumping is a fricking gimmick there are **** of invisible walls and you have to jump to get over 2cm objects like small rocks ;/

The bads: It still has a few bugs, most of them don't really affect your overall game or story, yet it's frustrating not being able to loot some items because they drop under the ground or are covered with crap.
NPCs sometimes fall through the ground also, they resurface and you don't encounter any real problem with the important ones, though once, my archer companion fell through and failed to support me in an encounter.
Crafting system has no real sorting mechanism other than armor/weapon type.
Interface doesn't work properly, scrolling down and checking your items causes the game to linger on the previously clicked item instead of the one you're hovering.
Menu is annoying as **** also, you have to actually click back to select a different category and you need to close it completely to open the character menu and check your stats.
Horses can't run properly or even move on some terrain. You need to manually jump to tell him "Hey stupid, there is a small stone/step there".
Gathering herbs is not that rewarding. I gathered so many rare herbs and yet you mostly just need a few to upgrade your potions, after that you just keep them around.
Inquisition points are required to upgrade your inventory space and there is no container to keep your rare or interesting items.
Deluxe edition is not worth the extra money.
You can only have 8 skills on your quickbar, as a mage, this is unacceptable.

I think the most annoying thing in DA:I are the controls. Believe me when I say that the controls are a big steaming pile of CRAP! I don't understand how beta testers on PC could even test the game with these controls unless they used a gamepad. But I don't want no stinking gamepad!! We use mouse and keyboard for a reason and that is because gamepads SUCK! If I wanted to play with a gamepad I would buy myself a fricking console. I say it one more time: DO NOT FORCE CONSOLE CONTROLS ON PC PLAYERS!!!!! I will never ever buy a game again that is not explicitly designed for PC controls. Actually I had to stop playing the game after the first fight because I couldn't stand it anymore. Controlling your character feels so unnatural it makes you wanna bang your head against the wall.

Inventory is a mess. Slightly better than in Fallout 4 but still... it's a list of LISTS!!! Come on, you can do better than that, can't you?

And then comes looting stuff. You gotta be kidding me?! What do I need a mouse cursor for when I can click the loot only when standing directly next to it? I have to walk up to the loot by hitting W while pressing the right mouse button and moving the mouse to steer and then I have to stop exactly where the loot is while keeping it in view at the same time so that I can point my mouse cursor at it without keeping the right mouse button pressed and then press the right mouse button to... F*CK YOU!!!

I can't say anything about quests and such as I stopped playing after 5 minutes in. But I just don't care. Other people have written enough about how bad quests are.

The graphics are ok I think, but the hair looks really really ugly. It's so unbelievably ugly that... uh no, just read the other reviews. There's also enough rant about the hair already.

One last thing I'd like to mention are the loading times. This game must have the longest loading times of all games I've come across in the last 25 years. And I played almost every single game that was ever released. You can say bad things about Fallout 4, but it loads A LOT faster.

I was so disappointed with Fallout 4 that I thought I could give DA:I a chance. But it turned out that Fallout 4 is a masterpiece compared to this ridiculous attempt at creating a RPG. I'm not even sure if they actually tried to make a RPG. It doesn't have anything in common with DA:O and isn't worth wasting a single minute on it.

Dear game developers: Stop making games like this. Just stop. I beg you! Try to make games with spirit, with atmosphere, with controls suited to the platform. Just like you did 10 years ago.

We're on late 2014, technology has greatly evolved, developers have very strong tools on their hands that 10 years ago wouldn't dream of. Right? How come they can't design a decent inventory???

Tell me, why do I have to navigate between dozens of windows to change a bloody armor? And why the hell are inventory icons so big? What are we, blind? Even on the old days when graphics were crap, inventories were designed to be practical and to offer a good overview of all your items, characters, skills etc. In DA:I its the complete opposite. You don't have any overview at all.

Another thing that bothered me right from the beginning is the overall control/camera/fighting system of the game. I don't know where to start, its like the developers decided in secret to mess with their old fans. The tactical camera is only "tactical" by name because you can't see almost anything.

No matter how much you zoom out the camera is fixed very close to the team leader and in order to see whats around you you're obliged to change the view into 3rd person!! Now imagine how confusing this can be in the middle of a battle. This poor implemented system results in many headaches making it rather impossible to create tactics and enjoy the game. You just attack the bad guy and watch out whether anyone from the party is low on health to heal him. That's the whole "strategy" of the game, poor and primitive.

And here comes the next question. Why didn't they use the same tactical camera of DA:O which was almost perfect? Was it hard to implement? Why cant we PC users enjoy and take advantage of the keyboard+mouse combination, haven't we payed for the PC version of the game after all?? For heaven's sake I don't want to use an xbox controller for a game that should meant to be played with keyboard and mouse! I wont take it any further and speak for other flaws for the ones I mentioned are enough to spoil my experience...

After this abomination of a game at best, I will turn my back on this company and never buy any of their filthy products again. Only pirate them, because that's what they truly deserve.

I totally feel screwed by Bioware. This game is all about console gaming and button mashing. I had to switch from my keyboard and mouse to a game-pad. The reason this so bad, is because the keyboard and mouse have about 95 programmable buttons. My game-pad has about 20. That leaves me 75 short of what I could have available to me. Sadly this option has gone AWOL since Knights of the Old Republic.

The biggest problem though is that it is a button masher. Button mashers are all the same. WAY TOO EASY!!!!!!!!!! Hit the X about ten times. Then hit the Y for the finishing move. Battle is over in about 2.5 seconds. They only take about 9 hours to finish. To be fair I did hear it takes 20 hours to beat Inquisition. Dialogue and cut scenes mean that gaming time is closer to 15 than 20. I recently replayed Origins and Dragon Age 2 thinking I could have part of my story imported. ( Yes, I do realize it was all in vain.) Dragon Age 2 takes about 22 - 25 hours while skipping most of the dialogue and cut scenes. Origins takes about 28 -35 hours. In my opinion we are going in the wrong direction.

Origin used to be an excellent game company. Now it's just a name for EA's download client. EA has wrecked more game franchises, and developer companies than I have fingers. Bioware, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age are not the first and won't be the last. EA's goal is not to make an excellent game that everyone loves. It's to make it to the Holiday rush. Is there a game franchise out there that you love? Pray to God that EA does not buy the developer.

I have given this game three attempts. At thirty hours in on my most recent attempt, I felt like a fool for indulging the developers. Shame on you, Bioware. I give 1 out of 10 to this game until they fix problems with crashes, freezes and keyboard controls. It is not possible to play this game properly on PC!

This product is an atrocious mess.

Unpolished, buggy, unoptimized, missing assets, crashes, and those are just the technical issues. And some of them can reach in excess of 10 hours. BioWare, EA, this is not a mobile phone game, why do you do this?

And don't get me started on the writing, this feels like it was written by a twelve year old girl on tumblr, and the directing is the same, with major errors all over the place, which we are just expected to not pay attention to, and enjoy the "epic" story of every BioWare game ever, but this time with shoehorned in politically correct representations of minorities, so that the feminists praise the game.

This is an unspeakably atrocious experience which I regret having wasted my time on, as an RPG fan you owe it to yourself to keep people away from this monstrosity.

I used to say, I prefer a diamond in the rough, to a polished turd. But this game is some rough **** let me tell you.

    Boring, incredibly boring.

I just couldn't get into it at all. I've had this game for months, since it launched, have yet to get much past the starting area because it's so boring, nothing pulls you in gameplay wise. It overwhelms you with nonsense, and gives you tedious examples of what kind of game to expect right off the bat. I didn't have any real issues, it seemed well made....but

(And I played the first Dragon Age, 10/10 I played that one until I had and had done literally everything possible there was to be done. But this one.....man....it just bores me)

I find it difficult to take the game seriously when my war counsel consists of a bunch of 20 yr old chicks and when a guard captain is a dwarven(?) girl who looks like she's in her early teens. I am all for more female protagonists but turning women into men by giving them swords, dressing them in heavy armor, and making sure their over-masculine behavior contrasts well next to a bunch of weak male characters is beyond stupid. What happened to all the nice women anyway? DAI doesn't have any. But if you like butch/dominatrix girls who 'don' need a man', then this game is for you.

Just finished my review of Dragon Age Origins, Dragon Age 2, and this... well, I must say that all people who gave high rating to this are WRONG simply because of the title: "Dragon Age" (i.e. it need the same gameplay but technologically improved and this is more close to DA2, another "not Dragon Age" game).

Resuming: is hard to play with mouse-keyboard, the isometric view is too close and confusing (seem thought as: "we have accomplished to put the feature but use by your own"), graphics are good to consoles but in PC I expect a bit more, and listen: Combat is Action! Yes, Bioware well done again! I must say that I have no issues with action games, I like Elder Scrolls, Witcher, Lords of the Fallen, etc, but as if there weren't enough ARPGs in the world Bioware wanted to be part of them. Bioware! One of the few studios that become famous with "Canonic-RPGs", they looks desperate to lose their identity, shame of you Bioware...
The rest of the game is not so bad because unlike DA2 and Diablo 3, if you approach with no expectations maybe you would enjoy it as a casual "Hack'n Slash with RPG folklore", but still having serious flaws: combat is not RPG (like Origins), but neither completely ARPG (like Skyrim), so is a confusing mixture without soul. There are so few dialogue options a la Mass Effect, giving the sensation of being talking with robots. And romance options are insipid, there is only one "desirable" male straight option and you will not want to take it, (nothing compared with Morrigan, Elanee, Viconia...), and, if all of this were not enough, gay options seem forced (you know what I mean).
The worse is the lack of a toolkit to make deep modding, so all mods will be by reverse engineering (i.e. like Dragon Age 2, nothing like Dragon Age Origins), shame of Bioware to forget your bests fans...
Well... is another generic "Action Adventure with RPG folklore", if you liked ARPGs like B0und by Flame you may enjoy it, with common graphics, common dialogue options, a big generic world to explore, and, of course, there will be common mods (like environment, nudity, hairstyles, etc, nothing compared to Origins or NWN).
Now, if you are seeking a true RPG, reinstall Origins or, better, be amazed by the new independent RPGs like Divinity: Original Sin, Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2 or Torment: Tides of Numenera, with no billionaires marketing campaign, nor cinematic of course, but you will have true RPGs that will enlighten your imagination as open books, trust me.
Well, if the game is "digestible", why the low rating you may ask? Because its name: "Dragon Age"...

I would realy love to enjoy DAI, but I can hardly force myself to play it due to the abysmal PC controls. They really break the game!

The problem is: The current controls make it impossible to play the game in a similar fashion as DAO or Baldurs Gate. The game forces you to play a single character and let the AI control all other. That's not what Dragon Age stands for.
"But what about the tactical view?", you might ask. Well - it simply doesn't work.

Tactical view has extremely bad controls, especially indoors. You can't zoom out further than the ceiling, which is approx. 10 feet above the ground. If your lucky, you might even arrange the camera so well that you see 2 enemies at once *rolleyes* But it gets even worse: Once you somehow managed to get a good view of the enemies you face, you can only order a single enemy to attack. You can't select your entire party at once. And the moment you switch to another char, the camera resets a focuses on the selcted char. This is extremely stupid, because you need to click on enemies to attack, not on your party members!

The tutorial already shows the worst of this system:
Attacking 3 enemies in a cave from outside in a coordinated manner takes dozens of clicks in tacview. It's plain stupid, but see for yourself:

    - Switch to tactical view.
    - Bring camera focus into cave, try to somehow find an acceptable position.
    - Order your main char to attack
    - Switch to second char - camera resets
    - Find acceptable camera position again
    - Order second char to atatck
    - Switch to third char - camera resets
    - try to find acceptable camera position again
    - Order third char to attack
    - Switch to fourth char - camera resets again
    - Find acceptable camera position yet again
    - Order final char to attack

But that's not all: Once your chars used their abailities as you ordered them, they continue doing what they want. If you want to follow with a second round of well-chosen abilities, you have to repeat all the above!!!

In DAO or BG, the camera didn't reset after switching chars. You could keep your focus on the enemy and activate ability after ability. You cound also select multiple chars at once, making things much easier.

I don't know why they destroyed a system that worked awesomely for decades.

I also tried to view the gae differently, see it more as a relative of Mass Effect (where the party members were intentionally AI-controlled). But it doesn't work either!

The game simply doesn't have the "feel" of natural third person games like Mass Effect or the Witcher 2. Normal attacks are boring, they don't have the dynamic feeling of sword strikes in Skyrim or The Witcher. You simply hold the mouse button to attack- no timing of individual strikes, no dodging, no nothing. Just trying to keep your char facing toward the enemy.

I'm extremely disappointed. I'll continue trying to get into the game, but I doubt I'll be able to before something changes.
My score may sound harsh, but until this issue is fixed, i can't enjoy any other aspect of the game.
