    Due to time restraints was only able to play character to level 50 during initial release (barbarian). Playing rogue now during season one and having a blast. All the zeros seem to be mostly from folks that don’t like changes to their specific class or are grinding out late game. Can’t speak to late game, but from 1-50 the leveling experience in Season 1 has been a lot of fun.     I loved diablo, diablo 2 and diablo 3. Im very much enjoying Diablo 4, who let the trolls out of their cage on these review bombs! Yeesh.

    Im old, played Diablo 1 to death when in my teens, enjoyed Diablo 2 and somewhat appreciated Diablo 3. Now, Diablo 4 is something else: a true gothic masterpiece (on the art side) with absolutely solid gameplay and the best UI job I have ever seen on a PC game.

    Best Diablo game since Diablo 2. Finally Blizzard made a good game after YEARS of terrible games like Diablo Immortal, Diablo 4, Overwatch 1 and 2.
    The game is excelent but lacks some polishing that hopefully will come in future patches.

    Great graphics, even better set and feel, the music and art style are amazing. Big map, great story, good gameplay, challenging and fun.

    Whatever the negative reviews are, are from ham and eggers who do not understand the fundamentals of modern ARPG games. The base of this game is fantastic, they just have to build upon it to make it a near perfect game. It's no Diablo 1 or 2 however that time has passed and we have what I call the real Diablo 3.

    The gameplay and atmosphere are really good which are the two most important parts of Diablo

    Music is very forgettable, the story is OK and it doesn't really seem that deep in regards to loot systems but it's still a very good game

    Im giving it an 8 out of 10 which would be a 9 out of 10 when they release the PC version because it is so clearly made for console that its painful. I've gotten to 80 then basically killed my character farming mats for cheat death procs and I wasted no time going again and am now 86.

    I understand why there are a lot of negative reviews, I'm sure some of the objectively do not like the game, but the majority here of these 0's I kinda gotta laugh at, this game couldn't be a zero if it tried and marking it that low is generally a sign of git gud (not everyone, but most). If you only focused on the bad things I could see a 4 outta 10 but the base game, the cinematics, the fluidity of the gameplay (which still can use a lot of work) makes it a solid purchase, even though the price was a bit high.    … Expand

Le retour à une direction artistique et au système d'arbre de talent comme dans Diablo 2 est fortement appréciable (D3 étant beaucoup trop simpliste de ce point de vue). Le nouveau système de parangon est une merveille pour le end game et apporte beaucoup plus de profondeur au jeu (pasL'écriture scénaristique de ce jeu est fantastique. La bande son, les musiques du jeu sont incroyables. Le retour à une direction artistique et au système d'arbre de talent comme dans Diablo 2 est fortement appréciable (D3 étant beaucoup trop simpliste de ce point de vue). Le nouveau système de parangon est une merveille pour le end game et apporte beaucoup plus de profondeur au jeu (pas comme dans D3 où cela consistait à attribuer des points bêtement sans réel choix possible...). Le système de loot est très bien dosé, il n'est ni punitif ni trop facile (le mix parfait entre D2 et D3 en fin de cycle dans lequel la foire au loot qu'il proposait vidait totalement de son sens le sentiment de satisfaction lors du loot). Le loot tue le loot, un loot ca se mérite un minimum et ce diablo 4 est particulièrement réglé à ce niveau. En ce qui concerne le gameplay, c'est du diablo et du blizzard comme on l'aime (nerveux et fluide). Les développeurs peuvent être félicité pour ce titre qui a un très bel avenir devant lui.… Expand

    Personally feel like the blind criticism is an overreaction. This game is a ton of fun and very polished, the devs are listening to the players and giving their best effort to improve the experience. The way I see it, this game will only get better with time.

    It's a great addition to the Diablo franchise. One you finish the story acts, the game opens up in terms of quests and activities to do. I invest about an hour or so a day in the game and call it good.

    - Launch. It was one of the smoothest Blizzard launches (PC) I have experienced. No queues, no lags, no disconnects.
    - Story. For an ARPG the story was decent enough. Lilith is a great villain. - Atmosphere! Finally the diabloesque atmosphere is back. It's dark, it's gory. No more cartoons! - Content - D4 got more content than any Diablo before (not counting mods for D2    The Good:

Nightmare dungeons, helltides, world bosses, pinnacle boss... while definitely not perfect and could use some tweaking they keep me playing even after reaching 90lvl. Still not bored of either and I play couple of hours every day since launch. Sure it gets repetitive but it is an ARPG so... (baal runs anyone?).
    - The Butcher! What a great addition to the game. Finally an iteration that does the OG D1 Butcher justice. Let's just hope they will add more mini bosses like him.

    The Bad:
    - No map overlay? Seriously?!
    - Mount system. What the frell is that? Terrible in every way.
    - Loot. You can get an item (a unique for example) at 85lvl that is weaker than when you got it 10lvls ago. Items always require the lvl they dropped on to equip making it impossible to gear alts
    - Please... JUST STOP THIS "KILL ALL ENEMIES" BS!
    - A lot of minor things are bad or could be tweaked. Usually of a QoL variety. Almost in every aspect of the game. Stash, inventory, map, crafters, traversing to name a few. No "refund all" button for paragon points when there is one for skills?
    - As per usual with like every game/company the devs are VERY fast to nerf positive things but hibernate when some bugs are affecting the players in negative way - druid loot table for example. That being sad I personally haven't encountered many bugs.

    The Ugly:
    - Monetization. Yes, there are MTXs. No I don't consider them bad because they are good for game's longevity. D3 has nothing of the sort (let's not bring that abomination that was RMAH into this...) and the serious lack of content is very noticeable. I also don't consider them straight up good because it depends on how the devs will use the money. If they keep sucking the money without giving us any new content then yeah they bad.

    Honestly, I don't understand why this game is receiving so much hate. I've been playing since Diablo I, and I've really been enjoying this game. It's a thousand times better than Diablo III was at release date. The skills are more varied, and they included new ways to improve your character.     I am not 100% satisfied with diablo 4 but guess what, its a 7.5/10 game. They need some direction, they need more endgame activities and for sure they need to provide some sort of timeline with where we're going and what to expect in the next few months.

    I like the campaign, i like the dark gritty atmosphere, i like the music, i like the art direction, i like the responsivness of the engine, i like how the game plays on 2k, I like the animations, the mobs, helltides, nightmare dungeons, the idea behind the tree of whispers (they need to improve this a bit)

    I know the devs kept parroting "its a live service game" but that's what it is. That's the reality of today's gaming ecosystem, they will tune, adapt and change with every major iteration, some patches will suck and be full of nerfs and others will have plenty of QOL and major improvements.

    I have anywhere between 5-10k hours in ARPGS, i've played them all, you name it, i played it. I played diablo 4 in these last month for copious amounts of hours even though i work a full time job, i have a young son and its summer, so we go out more often.

    I have all 5 classes 70+ on torment and tried a plethora of builds on all of them until deciding what I enjoy most. I did not push to lvl 100 and did not push to deep nightmare dungeons (I think biggest i did solo was tier 55 on rogue class -> ranged)

    I think all the moaning is because some classes do better than others in 70+ tier nightmare dungeons and some classes beat uber lilith faster than others or with more gimmicks. Does this affect me in any way? Not at all.

    At the moment there is no ladder, no competitive aspect, no reason to really push the limits so I don't really see why everyone is so upset.

    The game will be around for a while, skip a few seasons if you don't like the current state but from being upset on a non-ideal launch and a lousy patch and bandwagoning giving a disingenious 0-5 star rating for no reason other than being pissed off while ignoring all the good stuff is just lazy and entitled. its like going to a restaurant and screaming like a Karen at the staff that your fries were not cooked as you would have liked too and they are either too crispy or undercooked.

    SURE as hell you have that right since you paid for the game and you want to enjoy it. I'm just trying to understand why people are ignoring the good stuff and focusing only on the bad...    … Expand

    Excellent game. Best combat in genre. Best graphics in genre. Amazing music and punchy sound effects. Do you best to ignore all the cry-babies review bombing this because they don't understand math, how damage buckets work, and are unhappy with 1 patch of many. Their actions of review bombing should illustrate the type of baby rage they hold within their hearts.

    This new trend of review bombing a game because you're pissed about something is just dumb. I'm not going to lie, this last patch 1.1 for season one sucks and have angered most of us. I still enjoy playing the game. Is it perfect? No, but it's pretty damn good.

    This game is perfect for people who wants to play an ARPG casually and feel like they are not missing out on everything. The environment, the music, the campaign and most of the sidequests are just amazing. I have played for 80 hours so far and don't plan to stop anytime soon.

Good job Blizzard taking the game back to the darkness unlike the cartoonish environment in D3. Way too different core mechanics from II for me to get into, and the endgame was not my cup of tea.     I acquisitioned the game and it's absolutely good, good dark atmosphere, very good graphics (better than what I've seen from Poe2 showcase so far), campaign story is good, a lot of content to do, and you never get bored, builds are satisfying to work with and if you know what to do you'll have a good time. They made only 2 CGI cinematics (Intro & Inarius vs Lilith), in the past blizzardI acquisitioned the game and it's absolutely good, good dark atmosphere, very good graphics (better than what I've seen from Poe2 showcase so far), campaign story is good, a lot of content to do, and you never get bored, builds are satisfying to work with and if you know what to do you'll have a good time. They made only 2 CGI cinematics (Intro & Inarius vs Lilith), in the past blizzard used to make at least 4 per game, wish they would make more. I'd give it a 8/10 but since a lot of people downvotes it unjust I'll give it a 10 (people are upset for scaling/itemization/or they simply don't know how to diverse their builds or how play it). Many of the things are improved weekly, the game is constantly handled well by blizzard so far, wish they would have made the same good job with Warcraft 3 Reforge and not outsource it.… Expand

    I really like this game.
    I think it will be a better game after some improvements in the future.
    Developers are also responding very quickly.

    I've been playing Diablo since 1996. Diablo 4 is definitely the best in the whole series. They did a great job with the combination of the spirit of Diablo 2 and the fighting mechanics of Diablo 3. I'm sure the game will improve and improve over the years. Congratulations Blizzard. You did it perfectly.

    Don't listen to the squeaky wheels, this game is worth a buy if you are a true ARPG fan. There is enough content out right now to keep you busy for hundreds of hours, and it's only getting better. QoL changes are coming, balancing is in the works, and character build options are increasing.

Realistically I would give this an 8/10 but I put a 10 here to counteract the polarizing 0's on here - I get if you don't like the game but giving a 0 is unwarranted(much like a 10 would be too).Great game.     The tone and atmosphere are everything one loves about Diablo I and II with a modern graphical varnish that shines (burns?) with the best of them. Each story beat has a grim bit impactful emotional hook that brings characters to life (and death) like no other Blizzard narrative has. You question your own character's decisions, even while agreeing they are the best viable option. Even the side quests had me locked into the lore, with compelling characters and interesting plotlines.

    The complexity is immense but is rolled out in such a way that each new layer is learnable without the need for external guides. In other ARPGs I find item comparison to be tedious and often not viscerally impactful. In Diablo IV, you will be compelled to try a new build with just about every new Legendary aspect and Unique you find. The subclasses are distinct yet optionally intertwined, allowing for countless different approaches to slaying the demons that plague Sanctuary.

    I've already put hundreds of hours into this game and my excitement continues to build. I imagine I will be playing this game for many years. Don't miss it!    … Expand

    I have been playing Diablo since the first game released in the 1990s and Diablo IV since the the early access in June. I'm thoroughly enjoying Diablo IV. The campaign is compelling, the art is amazing, and I enjoy the numerous nods to the previous games, especially running into old friends and older enemies. I can tell that the team are fans of the franchise and not trying to remake itI have been playing Diablo since the first game released in the 1990s and Diablo IV since the the early access in June. I'm thoroughly enjoying Diablo IV. The campaign is compelling, the art is amazing, and I enjoy the numerous nods to the previous games, especially running into old friends and older enemies. I can tell that the team are fans of the franchise and not trying to remake it into something else. Changing set bonuses into "aspects" that you can mix and match on your gear is a brilliant departure from the previous games. I like the skill system and the paragon board, especially how certain glyphs on the paragon board incentivize investing in stats I might have ignored otherwise.

    Yes, there are annoyances - the stash is far too small and barely functional for example - but they aren't fundamental problems with the game design and I'm confident they will eventually be fixed. I see the balance changes (aka nerfs) as a positive for my style of play. For me, ARPGs are about trying different build gimmicks not two-shotting the uber boss. killing less-geared players in PvP or billion-damage crits. I play for my own amusement, not to compete with other players, or to generate social media content. If you are a more competitive player, I would probably recommend waiting for leaderboards to be added. At that point, I'm guessing the balance changes will be less drastic, so any time you invest in developing strategies to level and gear up quickly won't be completely undone by one patch.

    I can sympathize with players that are upset they're going to have to go back to the drawing board for their builds. But for me this is why I played seasonal characters exclusively in Diablo 3. I like creating a fresh character and trying fresh build ideas instead of having to retrofit existing characters to take advantage of the new items or fix gear that is no longer best-in-slot for a particular class.    … Expand

Along those lines I find it funny when a "nerf" happens, people whine, but then realize there build is fine, if not still really good. It's obvious that the game has content ready for the next several years and I for one look forward to playing each season till I get bored, move on to something else, and then come back for the next season. Appreciate the work of all the Diablo team members, you knocked it out the park.

    Combat - Easily best in the series and of any arpg on the market today. Combat feels great, attacks almost have a weight to them, and it makes the repetition satisfying. I also like that combat is somewhat slowed down (depending on the build).

    World Design - Back to OG diablo with a dark setting. I love the world map with the random events and dungeons. Looking forward to what will be added in the future.

    Campaign - Great story. I agree there was a little filler around Acts 4 and 5, but overall satisfying story that kept me engaged, and now I want to see what's happening next.

    Sound - Not much to say other than awesome.

    Systems - Skills system and paragon tree is the perfect balance between robust but simplistic enough that any arpg enthusiast can understand how to craft their build. No 3rd party apps needed here.

    Endgame - For the first month of this live service game that planned early on to have seasons and introduce new systems with each season. I think the end game was fine. I imagine each season will continually add new "Uber" bosses and things to do. I find it interesting that the core gameplay loop of Arpgs has not changed in years, but all the newbies cry....."It's boring, you do the same thing".....no sh*t. Its an arpg.

    Cons (Although since this is a live service game, potential to be patched)

    - While I applaud making gear only take up one grid square, I am finding my stash space and mules inventory quickly filling up. I would love to see additional stash spaces.

    - Would love to see a loot filter

    - The CC at high NM Dungeon Tiers can get a little frustrating, depending on the elite you get, maybe diminishing returns on constant cc?

    I love it. OST is god like, nemesis butcher the best boss in the history of video games. Im a Druid fan, i have played with all builds and love the gameplay, build variations and love the combat system. Put tier 100 down and i'm going for Lilith uber boss. Varshan is kids playground, die too easy. I hope the next seasons bring more content for the game, because this is amazing Diablo gameI love it. The leveling system and the sheer amount of things to do keeps me coming back. If I get bored with an already immersive end game I can start another character and enjoy the grind all over again. Probably it's a reason why camera in this game closer to character compare to another arpg games, to make player ability to see how new unique looks on his lvl 50 barbarian or so on. The sound part is another nice aspect of the game: you can hear not only ambient music, but also the sound of your character's ax piercing the enemy's flesh or the crunch of a broken barrel. The final part is plot and here game tells a story not about the confrontation between angels and demons, but about ordinary people who are sandwiched between this confrontation and try to survive. As i said the whole story showed by many cutscenes but here some minus that probably can notice only owners of 21:9 monitors - some of the videos are adapted for this aspect ratio (probably 30% of all ) some not. No any regularity are presented in this problem because one game engine cutscene can be in 21:9 ratio and next one 16:9 same thing with pre rendered videos, kinda strange. That a big surprise that this problem and some minor bugs are only minus of this game and ones again it's blizzard game (they could not help but screw up, but this time everything is fine). In conclusion, to whom will I recommend this game? I really don't know, because so many arpg lovers have already played this game and many people who have never played this genre but if you, by some strange coincidence, have not played this game, try it (wait for the sale if that's important to you) this game extrimly user friendly so you probably will enjoy it.… Expand

    It's a fun hacking/that gets back to the gritty aesthetic that Diablo was originally known for. There's also evolved in some fun and interesting ways from Diablo 2 and 3 and I look forward to seeing where it goes over the next couple years as it goes through its seasons

I don't have much time to play the game with my job and extracurricular activities, but when I do I enjoy it immensely. I'm giving it a 9 because although it's great, there is still room to improve. It's not too complicated,I love Diablo IV because it has fixed all the issues that were wrong with Diablo III, while also managing to incorporate many of the great qualities of Diablo II. I don't have much time to play the game with my job and extracurricular activities, but when I do I enjoy it immensely. I'm giving it a 9 because although it's great, there is still room to improve. It's not too complicated, while at the same time being challenging when needed. Also, the couch co-op is what sets this game above the rest. Maybe people would be giving it better reviews if they had friends to play with. Doing anything alone for long periods of time is enough to make someone hate something such as a video game. When I'm able to play, I enjoy playing for long periods of time, then when I'm getting irritated or burned out I go outside, work out, and maybe even touch grass. This hard reset really helps to keep me grounded and reminds me that it's just for fun. The bandits dragging an anxious monk through dark vaults seemed to just be a generic tease for the typical moment to moment gameplay. The bandits dragging an anxious monk through dark vaults seemed to just be a generic tease for the typical moment to moment gameplay. It all changes when Elias reveals himself and begins the ritual to summon Lilith and kicks off the next chapter of a story that I wouldn’t have expected to be this good. In a great move to get back in touch with the franchise’s roots, the story plays out as the wanderer is following their trail close behind dealing with the depravity left in their wake. It was the darkness of Diablo 2 but upgraded with modern storytelling tools that made you feel the sense of urgency missing in that game. Through gorgeous cinematics, gruff penetrating dialogue from Lorath, and a large handful of perfectly placed lore texts on relics and objects D4 gives you a near perfect story delivery and pays off with the journey and destination colliding in the end. I was wrong to doubt you, Blizzard.
    Diablo 4, like its predecessors, is two different games. The brilliance of that opening trailer was I think it appealed and excited fans of both. The first game is navigating your character through this brutal story which brought back some much-needed hell back to the franchise. At multiple points I physically tensed up at the horrific displays of torture, gore, and body mutilation you would expect from a game all about demons. The game hits hard with action from the jump, and only has a couple long breaks to fill in story pieces that I wish had been a tad shorter. Outside these moments the story is a 9.5/10, and for me makes a run at top 10 stories ever told in video games. It’s wonderful to see a game use all the modern tools of cinematics, next generation graphics, phenomenal voice acting, and player character rendering to suck you in and make you feel every part of the journey. I have always liked both games nested within Diablo but thought game 1 was subpar compared to other triple A titles. My low expectations we’re sent straight to hell in this installment however, and once again Blizzard, my bad for doubting.
    When you finish Act VI which I recommend making that your first and only goal, game 2 truly immediately opens. You are introduced to the Tree of Whispers and told how to collect Grim Favors from around Sanctuary, and this is a great jumping off point to start interfacing with the renown tracks of each region. It gives you a nice extra reward for completing tasks around the map that you are already rewarded for doing. I’ve played to level 80, and occasionally I still enjoy completing these for a nice minor cache of loot. The renown is a great way to get you to fully explore everything that sanctuary has to offer. The one gripe I had was the Altars of Lilith we’re cool for about 5 minutes, and then just became a boring task to just complete. Every other piece of the renown track was an enjoyable grind and got a good foothold into the game. Once this is complete you have your full 58 skill points, are probably somewhere in the mid 60s for your character level and have gotten a nice intro into the paragon board endgame systems. For the casual gamer who wants to continue playing other games and enjoying life outside, please consider that this is you beating the game. Like, seriously, please believe me, YOU DID IT. You beat the game. You accomplished everything that matters. Let me explain.
    You beat game one after watching the epilogue cutscene at the end of ACT VI. This is a given. Game 2’s endpoint will be different for everyone, and I think that’s a great thing. For me in a non-seasonal environment, I’m about to reach the end of my progression dreams. From about 65 on with maximum renown, you are basically full build in terms of Legendary Aspects, the power of your gear is maxed, and you have started picking up powerful Paragon bonuses. By this point you have probably done a handful of nightmare sigils and leveled your glyphs which add substantial power. After that, it’s just numbers going up in a game play loop of Dungeons, Helltides, and Whispers. The amount of numbers that go up compared with the amount of these you have to do gets further and further apart. That’s it. If you enjoy that, head for 100 with glee. If not, wait till next season. You’ve beaten a game that is a bonified 9.5/10 to that point with very minor problems. You’ve enjoyed yourself much. Play something else and we’ll see you in July!    … Expand

    Great game worth waiting for. Do not believe the bored review-bombers. Compelling story, loot and gameplay. A worthy entry in the Diablo franchise.

    This game is amazing, took the best of the previous games and made a better product. The people writing negative reviews have clearly never played a Diablo game before, complaining that once you beat the story it's just more of the same, grinding for better gear. Yeah, no **** it's a Diablo game.

    Game of the year. It's an online game - of course bugs are going to occur. No more power leveling - just good ole grinding. The gear in the game is way nicer than the shop gear. Campaign is stellar. Blizzard at the top again. Thanks.

Through all of Blizzard's issues Diablo still proves to be a best in genre showcase that's full of endless monsters, dungeons, and playstyles to enjoy.

    Life in Sanctuary is tough, no characters, families, farms, or towns are safe from the endless doom and gloom that is pervasive in this universe, there are no happy endings here. In typical Diablo fashion you play as a nameless "champion" of sorts who is on a journey to stop the impeding demon threat/apocalypse, this time in the form of Lilith, daughter of Mephisto. The story is typical genre fare, though delivered in some really inspired and beautifully rendered cutscenes. In particular, the final full CGI scene is breathtaking, and features a cool and satisfying conclusion to this portion of the story.

    Gameplay is fun and challenging, with many different options for encounters and playstyles. I played through the whole story as an arc/electric sorcerer, only switching towards the end to a firewall build that was much better. The action is quick and deadly, particle effects and gorgeous animations flash on the screen at a near constant rate during encounters. The game does feature some sharp difficulty spikes for sure, the main story is on average easier than the optional dungeons that are scattered throughout the world.

    Post main story the game does get pretty grindy. After reaching level 50 you stop receiving skill points and instead earn Paragon Points which incrementally boost your character and provide mostly passive benefits. For non hardcore fans of the game/genre most of the interest will wane after the main story is completed.

    All in all I never encountered a dull moment in my time rolling through the main story. The action and enemies are ever evolving and the loot and build structure of the lategame leads to endless opportunities for fun.

    Beat on world level 2 with a sorcerer, roughly 25 hours to finish the main story.    … Expand

    I am playing this game on PS5 and ROG Ally daily. It's perfect. This game is very steady, no lag, no server problem, an excellent campaign, an excellent OST and sound design, the graphic design and artwork is incredible !

    I am Rogue 75 and my pleasure is still there. I am a fan and casual player. I don't understand the global hatred here. what were players expecting ? To solve all    I am playing this game on PS5 and ROG Ally daily. It's perfect. This game is very steady, no lag, no server problem, an excellent campaign, an excellent OST and sound design, the graphic design and artwork is incredible !

    I don't understand the global hatred here. what were players expecting ? To solve all their life frustration, personal problems, to offer a sense of their empty life ? To satisfy the impossible task to please the casual and hardcore player in the same time ? They have targetted the casual KFS dad player who is likely to buy skin, and play some hours each week...

    To put a 6 or a 5, but a 0 ? It's just review bombing....

    If you want to play peacefully on the ROG Ally or PS5, it's a good game, the end game is too young to be judged, let Blizzard time to improve that, this game has been released just 1 month ago !    … Expand

    While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
