    I was having fun in season 0, the game was fairly grindy, but the nightmare dungeons and the helltides were at least semi-fun. Now the season 1 patch has made the game an absolute chore. Everything is slower. Everything is less fun. I feel like the product I was playing was a bait and switch, and wish I didn't enjoy the game prior to this point because then I could ask for a refund. Now you don't have to do any more dev work when everyone leaves the game, and you already collected everyone's cash for the full price game that got good reviews in beta...… Expand

    Blizzard killed the game! The Patch and the reactions in the stream shows, what we will get next - so im out waiting for D5 (No Casual Gamer - D1 / D2 D3 Veteran with thousands of hours for every single character)

    Devs clueless destroying the game without listening to the community. Nerfs instead of buffing is the No 1 rule. Unique droprates of certain items are way to low so you cant play the build you want to play, the one you playing because of this fact is nerfed to death

    POE although complicated is fast, and makes you feel like a god.
    Last Epoch even in pre-release/open beta has a better feeling combat system, faster gameplay, more rewarding progression, and snappier servers.

    Should you buy it?

    The standard game was okay until the season 1 launch where they decided to nerf all aspects and made the game super grinding. Don't wait for sale guys, wait for path of exiles 2

    Stealthly change data everywhere, but wait until the player finds out before announcing it

    I got a level 76 Barb in Season 0 and got bored with the "endgame" I then proceed copium up myself that surely Blizz will bring in some real contents to Season 1 but Blizz brings only disappointment.     I've never seen such a completle lack of care for the game.

    There's been constant lag, disconnects & overall just complete garbage of deaths/incompolete dungeons/ items not coming to your inventory.

    I would respect if they would communicate their flaws & openly say they are improving stuff. But it doesnt' look like they care at all.

    I have been a gamer for most of my life. In fact, 1 year away from 20 years playing video games. This is the only game I have ever played in my entire life where I fell asleep midgame. I am being beyond serious. I have played numerous ARPGs before, including Diablo, yet Diablo 4 makes me jolt awake when I die because my brain has picked up the sound changes. Terrible game.

    $90 for 6 hours of story line.
    This is just a copy past of diablo 3 and took 10 years to make.

    Don't waste your money. Buy diablo 3 and watch the diablo 4 cut sceans on youtube. Basically the same game.

    It also did not work right on release and has been going through balancing patches like crazy. 10 years to make, they should be embarrassed.

Well, when you want to charge this much for a game it needs to be right up there. Once you've completed the main quest line is where the game effectively starts. And this is where the game utterly fails in every regard. The end game loop of nightmare dungeons, hell tides, gathering legions and world bosses is at best, tedious. The dungeons are samey and get boring very quickly, the hell tides are just flat out dull and annoying trying to find the one chest which 'might' drop some half decent loot. Gathering legions is zero challenge and lasts a minute or so as several high level players blitz everything as it spawns. The world boss is no longer any kind of challenge either, there will always be several level 100 guys meaning it will die in no time at all, plus, again, there's a real lack of variation. In it's current state this game is worth 20 bucks, or if like me you got it free with a GPU then it's worth doing the story and that's it.… Expand

    Amazing story graphics and performance, it even has some fantastic easter eggs for old Diablo fans.
    The only drawback I see is the store, I would have preferred to see them add the skins they made before release to the actual game rather than in the store.

    that being said, being able to play with friends on other consoles is wonderful.

    I would HIGHLY recommend picking up this game, it is wonderfully paced, with a great atmosphere and fantastic storytelling. It feels like a true blizzard game and it has to be commended as such.
    I hope this trend continues in the future, and I am looking very much forward to the expansions when they are ready.    … Expand

    There is no balance between the classes and only few specs are good. Blizzard started balancing with nerfing guys who had most fun, forgot to buff other specs.     Good game that is completely ruined by monetization and a decade old seasonal model that doesn’t align with live service games and paid battle passes. I’m not sure what is worse: Diablo 3’s auction house, Diablo Immortal, or Diablo 4’s season and battle pass model.

    While the main campaign is decent and midly enganging. Unfortunuately the abismal endgame ruins the experience: the acvtivities are boring and the reward sucks. To cover for this lack of enganging content, just before the start of season 1 Blizzard had the wonderful idea of gutting the damage of all the classes AND nerfing the xp gains to artificially increase playtime.

Its an obvious attempt to prolong the games life and prevent people from making meaningful progress. My armchair theory is theyre doing this so they can SELL US EXPERIENCE BONUSES during the season.

I have thousands of hours playing diablo 2 and have been a fan of the franchise since my early childhood.     When you play ARPG's you expect to be fighting through hordes of monsters with a badass character and the game to feel good. What you get out of diablo 4 is an empty desert devoid of life while you kill 3 skeletons because they are afraid of packsize.

    This game is absolutely horrible, the systems are overly complex to try to pretend it has depth like POE. When it is just complex to be complex. Example: 30% fire resistance, reduces fire damage by 14.8%. Not to mention that all damage snapshots, so if you get a damage over time on you like poison and you press your 1 defensive cooldown with 50% reduced damage taken. It doesn't do anything to reduce the damage at all, the damage is snapshotted before you had the damage reduction.    … Expand

    i have spent at least 20k-30k hours with diablo games, mostly diablo 2, but diablo 4 is the most boring one so far, i played 2 characters to 100 and feel like there was almost nothing to remember about. the game is a disappointment to me, even the ingame music has nothin to it (except the Tristram quest xD)

    I am revising my previous review, the game has excellent bones. It clearly had a very passionate and competent team during most of the design process. But at some point all those passionate and competent people went missing, whether they were fired or quit I can't say. It takes them weeks to fix massively impactful bugs and issues, they release things broken and not working, they do basically nothing and barely have any new content flowing despite the promises of massive changes each season.

    All of this not to even mention the fact that they haven't got a single person on the team capable of even the most basic creative design decisions anymore. Generic and garbage aspects and uniques, their team that already needs 700 man hours to issue a basic PR to even start working on a basic day-to-day bug is for some reason wasting their already inefficient and limited time on an 'uber unique' system in a game that HAS NO TRADING and therefore literally no one will ever get the items even if they played 10,000 hours straight (you probably think I'm exaggerating but I'm really not).

    Blizzard is dead. Kotick has destroyed the company finally. The OW2 scandal and the Diablo 4 situation are not unique, this is the norm from this trash company now.    … Expand

Nerf after nerf, every single patch has been tailored to slow down an already arduous grind. It's obvious that they have their launch money and don't care about the future of the game.

    Back then I had mixed feelings after playing Diablo 2 and 3 for the first time, the impression was not very good, Diablo 1 and Path of Exile remain the top, but still I played it a lot. Diablo 4 had the same mixed feeling again, although it took the best of Diablo 2, 3 and Immortal. Hack and slash aRPGs probably won't be able to satisfy me anymore, definitely not for 70 euros on Battlenet.

    Diablo 4 is a great foundation and jumping off point for out of touch developers who took the most engaging parts of the game at launch and made them objectively worse in the very first content patch. Let's hope they turn it around before too many people move on.

    So many QOL changes missing (stash space/search function/camera zoom - to name a few among many); balance issues; general arbitrary/artificial difficultly to slow down the game for no reason; repetitive dungeons.

    Unfinished game. Blizzard decided to nerf everything because players were completing the campaign and material too quickly. No effort to improve other classes or weak builds, just nerfing skills and items. You wake up and your character does 40% of the damage you used to, what a joke. I would steer away and look for games such as baldur's gate 3.

    Reduce exp gain, add more walls, slow them down, make them wait longer.

    How do we make it challenging for players? Nerf class skills, nerf damage, nerf items, nerf aspects, buff monster.

    It was a very fun game when it came out then the first patch buffing xp in nightmare dungeons made it much more fun but the newest patch 50% nerf and made every character I played for so many hours just useless.
    Everything that was fun in the game was taken away and they made leveling tedious again. The game isn't worth playing at all and just feels like homework now.

I don't know who the developers want to appeal to but it's not the casual player base and there are tons of players who are unhappy with the current state of the game. I mentioned that the Sorceress was the weakest class at launch and like many other classes it's even worse after the nerfs. I don't know what I was expecting from Blizzard after Diablo Immortal people had hope for D4 and somehow they managed to screw it up. Hopefully they wise up and revert the nerfs buff the classes and make the game fun to play before it's too late and they lose all of the player base.    … Expand

If you want to keep up with everyone else and be capable you get one class option... If you want to be even able to attempt success as a sorcerer, you get one build option... your forced into using shards, with one adjustable spell slot. And your pick through paragon board and skillset must be exact or it will fall flat, NO room to experiment and have fun with other builds, even with 12k health you will still get 1 shot by EVERYTHING that is with every AC and Health increase available on the paragon board. Even using max rolled disobedience with God-rolled gear... even if you get the 840 item level weapon, a level 70 rogue or druid or barbarian with low rolled gear will survive better and deal more damage. And have options. I play magic based games for the fantasy of being a sorcerer/wizard/mage with the power of fire ice and lightning and that's what appeals to me, and I thought i could find here. To be able to kill the endgame boss as sorcerer you have to bring 3 extra armor pieces and swap mid combat. The number one defense we would have been entirely unfunctional which is resist all elements and specialized resistance to wielded magic. As well as instead of fixing this obviously RUINED class they keep buffing the enemies and making it harder, even level 100, invested heavily into defense, with very good gear, fully coordinated with high rolled stats and over 800 item level on everything, you will still get one shot by most everything during a helltide. The classes should balance, and all have options for different playstyles viable. But no, they say we built this game all around playing druids so druids can laugh at everyone else for being dumb enough not to pick druid.... I am sorry but I am very touchy about my size, I work really hard IRL to not be overweight. The idea of running around fat would just make me sick.... why would I want to fantasize that am? I understand for some it isn't a choice, and they can't help it, but it is very hard for me to not gain weight. Every other class can quickly burn down bosses and easily survive hordes. But for some reason as a sorcerer, your forced to have very slow damage to them until you stagger them, then you can kill quick, but if you don't swap gear in combat you can't get from staggered to dead fast enough. we should not have to work harder to play than other classes. There should be balance. Even people who play other classes feel sorry for us sorcerers and wish they would do something to improve our situation, but they just don't want people who would want to play sorcerers to enjoy their game. It's very saddening to me because I waited until reaching level 100 and unlocking full renown with very good gear and much time invested. I haven't even started the new season yet because of how disappointing the experience has been. I wouldn't mind starting over if playing a sorcerer actually mattered, but it doesn't. People can get chill and vulnerable easier with other classes/gear why do they need a sorcerer around? Why can't we have fun too? The story line is truly amazing, with wonderful cinematics. But all that that brings evaporates the instant you realize how unfair class balancing is. and we are playing another game that even though a gear says a certain percent, you cant trust it because they have adjusted to performance of the metrics to not match what the gear says it should do, 30% should be 30% period.... if you get above 100% resist you should be healed for what goes over it, and let the stat actually function.… Expand

    The game is not that bad. But the actual state (1.1.0) is lacking the fun of the series: killing enemies fast, drop loot, have a build that's adapted to your play style.

    As the first season is live, it appears that the devs will not let the players have any of that: in each patch, they nerf loot and build, they buff enemies.

    However, d3 season 28 is pretty cool. And cheaper.

Then I ran into no endgame, no loot, constant nerfs and stopped me from playing until season 1. Needless to say reading the patch watching the joke of a campfire I’m so glad I stopped while I had my fun. As a life long Diablo fan I had to try out the new one but the games a joke!!     It's ok to have less end-content or a smaller season, as the game itself occupied so many ressources, this is fine for pre-season and S1 for me.

    But the biggest mistake is how they handle the renown system and codex of might (Aspects)!
    I am totally sure, that this will be the 1st and also the last time I will re-do this! Never ever again!
    As there are so many skill- and paragon points within the renown system, it is kind of mandatory. Bypassing this "passivly" by running nightmare dungeons doesn't work, as you need these points ASAP. Not all dungeons are nightmare dungeons. And last but not least the affixes might force you to reroll keys.
    At the end of the day this means, you'll rush through ALL dungeons on WT1, running to the end (if it's not a %&/$§* "Kill all mobs" one) hour after hour. Or doing stupid side quests, like: bring this camel back to town...

    Endgame grinding, equip farming - that's Diablo.
    Even a new fraction or another level of reputation for the existing ones - ok.
    but a reset of the entire reputation and all aspects - no chance. Never again. This is my personal red line I do not cross, I will never to this again. If it's not changed - I will quit D4.    … Expand

    Overall, I think the core game is good. What has ruined much of my experience is ridiculous lag (on a 100 mbps connection) and random disconnects. These have only gotten worse lately, making the game basically uplayable. Reaching out to Blizzard support about this was pointless as they made it abundantly clear that they don't mind losing customers who have been with them since D1 andOverall, I think the core game is good. What has ruined much of my experience is ridiculous lag (on a 100 mbps connection) and random disconnects. These have only gotten worse lately, making the game basically uplayable.     While the future of the game is anyone’s guess, at present Diablo IV is a solid, but strangely unambitious take that fails to bring much new to the table. By the end of my travels, I was more than willing to put it down and take a break — somewhere amongst all the grinding, Diablo IV had unfortunately ground me down as well.
