    One of the biggest disappointments I have ever had the displeasure of playing, a game infected by the same corporate greed that has been plaguing this industry for the last decade and making no attempt to hide it either. What truly becomes apparent rather quickly is how this game's aspects completely revolve around players using the auction house, be it real money or in-game gold, at every turn in this game one is being goaded into spending money, be it the lack of level appropriate loot dropping in higher difficulties, the fact that gear and not inherent stats determine everything from offense to defense, Blizzard's nerfing of classes who have the possibility to circumvent the gear requirements needed for inferno difficulty, everything in this game pushes people to spend money to get better gear. On an auction house where the economy has been broken since release wich (perhaps intentionally) pushes people to towards spending real money on RMAH. Even the now infamous DRM is all a means to keep that infernal auction house alive and I find it truly mind boggling how Blizzard can not seem to admit that Diablo 3 is being used as a cash cow at the expense of their consumers' enjoyment. The skill system feels heavily uninspired and simplified, the game has been advertised as being gothic horror, but even an 8 year old wouldn't get a scare out of this game. Diablo 1 and 2 felt dark and scary, the music felt ominous, Diablo 3 has abolished this feeling and made way for a game for all to play and enjoy... (and spend money on the auction house). The arrogance of Blizzard's "you play how we want you to play" aproach is another point of interest, classes and mechanics being nerfed leaving certain builds and gear (on wich players have spent quite a bit of money) completely useless, there is just no excuse for how much this game blows in the end. A game used to bring in money at the expense of the consumers' entertainment by taking a much loved franchise and putting a shiny new number on it. Truly sad.… Expand

    I've played D2 a decade ago, but this seems more like a miniature WoW rather than a hack and slash. Where you can just brag about your gear and call anyone with lower stats a noob, other than that not much to do.
    Also this system of taxes in both GAH and RMAH makes you feel you're some kinda Blizzard employee    Game driven by Blizz' greediness . Every change they make reflects it fully .

    Has lots of potential but fails to reward the player enough. Needs more random maps and less random loot. Sound, graphics and general mechanics are good enough.

It never was going to be anything but a tedious game doing four, yes four runs to get too Inferno (Normal, Nightmare, Hell, Inferno). The epic fights I looked forward too against what I hoped would be legendary demons with unbridled power and tricks up their sleeves. Sadly it turned out to be attack, run away, attack, run away, attack, oh you're dead. The only thing I like, is my monk's ability to keep everyone bubbled and healed and still being able to deal out damage making my need to be in a group essential. Sadly some players fail to understand monks need monsters too beat on too regenerate their spirit to keep said players alive, and so they kill the monks target and then they die and blame the monk, because they didn't get bubbled or healed. LMFAO at these noobs.

    Character development. Skills are great as long as you read very careful exactly what it does and what will be impacted by choosing something else. Monks are very badly screwed over by the need to use spirit to do anything cool let alone helpful. Constantly being drained of spirit and not regenerating it fast enough can lead too alot of deaths. I spent alot of time, circling monsters. singling one out away from the pack, move in, strike a few times, build some spirit up, circle away before the rest of the group has time to land too many blows. The other classes are OP and don't appear to have too much trouble with large groups. You get runes to enhance your skill, each rune adds a different type of effect too your skill. In my case I went with everything that increased my spirit regeneration. I have soloed Diablo and managed to revive my team mates for the final killing strike simply by biding my time, keeping myself bubbled and healing myself and Diablo away from their corpses. Power of the runes.

    The story line is not very robust. Receive quest, go here, kill this, get this item, give it too this person, next quest. It's a rush a job. Blizzard seemed to have spent far too much time drawing pretty pictures than filling in the lay of the land, side quests of historical value and creating decent movie sequences. I'm sorry, but cartoon videos indicate you ran out of money, not that you wanted to impact the Asian market place. One decent video sequence is all your going to get folks. Side quests are laughable, some relate to current characters, most seem to be there as part of the achievement system. The storyline should have been carved into atleast three stages and money spent on refining each stage. Instead we are delivered a rip off of Titan Quest. Which again was too damn long but your fighting creatures from antique, which is cool!! I know there is an expansion pack coming, that much is obvious, you will see it if you know what too look for. Value for money. No, not really. Blizzard knows that, that's why they gave it away free for a 1 year WOW subscription. Diablo III gets a 4 out 10. Subsequent expansions won't save it. Better to go straight onto fleshing out the story line for Diablo IV.    … Expand

    Normal difficulty is so easy that it is simply a chore to play through. Nightmare is only really challenging with a full group that is under geared or just inexperienced. The game doesn't feel like Diablo until just about Hell difficulty, which is a shame. Additionally, the always on connection require to even load the game is unforgivable. And lastly, the system by which LegendaryNormal difficulty is so easy that it is simply a chore to play through. And lastly, the system by which Legendary items are generated seems completely busted, as you are much more likely to gain useless junk or at best, a decent item that is outclassed by a [yellow] type item of the same level.

    Story wise, not as compelling as Diablo 2, and the in game cut scenes are shockingly bad compared to Starcraft 2's in engine work. Unfortunately, some key moments in the plot are told this way, rather than in actual cinematics. Overall, the game is necessarily BAD, however it fails to live up to its legendary predecessor.    … Expand

    After the small problems on launch and after patch 1.03 this game is lots of fun to play even without the auction house. Graphics are good, itemhunt is there and classes are mostly balanced and all feel very diffrent
    Way better than diablo II

    Simplified to the point that it can't be called an RPG, D3 failed to keep me entertained they way it was supposed to. Pay to win system removes any sense of achievement, or desire to achieve anything noteworthy. And the writing sucks like nothing else.

    Disappointing, not up to standard for modern games. Act 1 had a lot going for it with a lot of destructible items and traps you can trigger on enemies. After Act 1 the detail drops off and you can tell less effort was put in. Changes to items after launch have and bugs have made a mess of the economy. Below standard from Blizzard... I blame the Activision takeover.

    When I lost my fourth hardcore character due to d/c I had enough, crappy "always online" in a single-player game. Now I uninstalled Diablo 3 for good, and this was the last time I got a Blizzard game directly at the launch.

    Now the bad points and there are a lot.

    Itemization is horrible. In 170 or so levels I have on all my characters I have had items drop that were actually an upgrade for my character maybe 4 times, no exaggeration. Drops are almost never higher level then you that you need to grow into. They are almost always 5-10 levels lower then you, IE useless. Even at max level 60 99% of the drops are total crap. For example at 60 you need a weapon that does 1000-1600dps, and you constantly get level 60 weapon drops that have absurd DPS like 250, basically level 30-40 stats on a level 60 item. Pure vendor crap. All the gear is like this.

    Because of the poor itemization you are forced to use the in game auction house to gear up buying items that players higher level then you couldn't use. This totally sucks as it's like the main game is an Ebay sim. And it gets worse. Blizzard put in a real money auction house too. So most of the great items are selling for real money.

    The economy is screwed beyond belief. There is no bind in equip on items. So there are always more and more items forever. When you finally get a good item to sell you find that there are thousands of the same item already on the auction house. This makes selling anything but the very best stat items nearly impossible. There aren't enough gold sinks in game and Blizzard has done nothing about bots. So gold has so little value that everything endgame costs millions. That's a LOT to a legit casual player. At best a casual is going to make 100k in about a three hour night of playing.

    The skill system is dumbed down compared to Diablo 2. There are no more skill trees. You pick your skills from pulldown menus in various categories.You can no longer switch skills on the fly with the function keys. You pick your skills and if you want to change them in the field you have to go into a menu, and there is a cooldown before you can use them. There is no more stat customization. Every class can use the exact same equipment. The only requirement is level. Builds are very limited and boring compared to the huge variety in Diablo 2. You are pigeonholed into using very specific builds just to survive.

    The game play.

    The game is pretty short.
    You play it through on normal which is absurdly easy and boring.
    Then you play through on nitemare which is also so easy it's boring.
    Then you play through in Hell and it's pretty fun because it's about the right challenge.
    Then you finally get to Inferno level hoping to get some good drops and it is nearly impossible. The majority of what's left of the playerbase is stuck in act two inferno. This is because trash mobs can 1 shot you and many elite packs has absurd affix combinations that are unbeatable. Players are literally forced to quit and restart their game because of this.

    Some general stuff.

    There is no transparent map overlay that you can leave up while playing like Diablo 2.

    You can no longer open a town portal and leave it open for an emergency exit. The town portal is no longer instant cast either. It is channeled and interpretable so you're never gonna escape a bad situation.

    You cant skip from all the different acts and waypoints once you beat the game. You are forced to play the quests every time and if you want to switch acts you have to reload the game and choose that quest.

    The music is almost non existent. This is a huge disappointment compare to the epic music Matt Uelmen did for Diablo 2.

    The story is horrible, I mean REALLY bad. The villains are like cartoon Disney stuff.

    The Bosses drop utter crap and are too easy, Blizzard what's you to farm the sometimes impossible to beat elite packs

    The game is ONLINE ONLY. Blizzard has created the worlds first single player game that features lag, rubberbanding, and disconnects. Battlenet STILL sucks.

    The game is full of duping, gold farmers and bots, just like the previous two Diablo games. Blizzard is either totally clueless on how to stop this or just don't give a damn because there people buy lots of copies of the game.

    All in all, you can have fun for a month or two in Diablo 3, but there is NO WAY I would ever recommend someone pay the premium $60 for this game. There are just way too many other better and cheaper games out there. If $60 is no big deal to you check it out and decide for yourself, otherwise stay away from this game.     Absolutely the most interesting game at this moment. I haven't play any other games since Diablo 3 published. At first it felt that it's too similiar to WoW and too less the Diablo 2. That is what many people says. But after playing it more I started to like it more and more. Suddenly I realized that I'm really keen on playing Diablo 3. I am already feeling that I am waiting expansion forAbsolutely the most interesting game at this moment. I haven't play any other games since Diablo 3 published.     Grinding Inferno Act III, the game so far is a lot of fun. Once you get the proper gear
    this game gets really good. The elites in this game are some of the best I have
    ever seen. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes ripping through
    huge amounts of mobs and killing stuff.

    Sounds: 8/10 - I had no problem with the sound effects/voices
    Cinematics: 10/10 - Blizzard always makes amazing cinematics, and this was no different
    Skill System: 8/10 - I really enjoyed playing around with the skills and creating good combos to work with, unfortunately this was massively hindered in Inferno.
    Requiring connection to internet: minus 1 point (this was very frustrating early on and those of you who played it early on know what I mean)
    Real Money Auction house: minus 1 point (This infuriates me that they are encouraging players to pay real money for in game items, and what's worse is that they are taking a cut of it.) I don't like the philosophy of pay to win.

    The game sounds very good. The sound track and general audio really does it's job to enhance the heroic hack 'n slash this game were supposed to be. 9/10 Unfortunately, the dialogue and voices are in short, horrible. 2/10. Summarized: 6/10.

    Gameplay:
    The game suffer from several gamebreaking things. 1) First, there is the intentional lag for hit detection. You can not dodge missiles or bigger melee attacks. This makes for many frustrating moments where your tactical movements are punished, instead of rewarded. Hardcore players will lose many characters due to this horrible game design. 2) Always online. The game demands you to be online at all times, even when playing single player mode. This alone is not a big issue, but Blizzards servers fail to maintain steady servers. This causes ingame lag, issues for logging in and playing with your friends. This feature simply causes many problems which easily could have been avoided. 3) This is an action RPG. But you can not develop your character in any way possible - except from leveling ofcourse. Both the main stat (Str, Vit, Dex, Int) and the skill system is pre-determinated. Every part of what made Diablo 2 into an action RPG is dumbed down as far as it goes. This game has zero replayability. 4) The areas you travel through are not randomly generated, but rather very predeterminated. This choise causes the game to be more boring than it has to be.
    5) There are four, 4, difficulty levels. This could have been a positive thing, but the HUGE gap between Hell (3rd) and Inferno (4th) causes everyone to hit a brick wall. This alone is not a negative thing, but several ingame designs causes the grind to be thedious rather then fun. 6) The economical aspect of the game takes up too much space in the way you experience the game. The introduction of the AH and Real Money AH simply buts alot of weight on the gold instead of the items themselves. Combine this with a redicolus repaircost, high cost crafting plans for items and gems, pluss the fact that items you find are worth nothing at all - you get a money farming game instead of a pure hack 'n slash game. If you don't have the time to play 5+ hours a day, you are simply dependant on farming gold and what other people put on the AH/RMAH.
    7) The game offers a flexible skill system. But there are some builds that are obviously better then others, thus dimming down the depth of the skill system. The game promotes you to use what ever spells/abilities you want - but if you chose to do so, the game punishes you by removing buffs (Neph Valor) and makes you wait for cooldowns. So being flexible with the flexible skill system punishes you.
    8) The game suffers from an escalation in stat values. A barbarian starts out with something as low as 100 healt points at lvl 1. At level 60, you can have close to 100 000 HP. This escalation is one of the things that causes the issues with Inferno difficulty, as the monsters health increases ALOT, while you reach max level in Act 2 or 3 on Hell difficulty. 9) The items in the game are boring. This is mainly due to the dumbed down stat and skill system. The stat and skill system is set in stone and therefore the items can not function the way they did in Diablo 2. They have also removed many, many affixes from D2. Also, your damage is manly determinated by weapon damage. As a result, wizards can very well use 2h axes with better sucsess then a wizard class spesific wand. 3/10.

    All in all, Diablo 3 has very little to do with its elder brother, Diablo 2. Only the title and setting is similar. The always-online, dumbed down stat- and skill system, shallow item-system and buildt in lag are things that ALWAYS will be in the way of the positive things this game has to offer. This game is nothing more the a mediocre product who might be pathced to be a better game in the future. Sadly, the patches so far has proven that it will a long time before that. If you chose to pick up this game, be prepared to feel mighty powerfull as you level through the early stages of the game. But the higher level and further in the game you get, the less of an hack 'n slash it is. Your hero become weak and you will have to kite/run away more then you fight. The combat is fast paced, the skills and spells have a satisfying impact to them, and the environments and enemies are well designed. The drops, while a cause for much grief at the games inception, have been tweaked sufficiently to give a sense of progression even in the early stages of a players journey through inferno difficulty (the "end game" of Diablo). People complain about DRM, the AH, and the server stability at launch, and yes, some of that is warranted. However, at no point have I felt like my success was contingent on the AH since the drop patch. Furthermore, I've made quite a bit of money (real life money, that is) from selling items I find which I don't need for myself. The game has paid for itself 4 times over for me, and in a day where funds are limited, that's a huge plus. If you liked Diablo II and are willing to chug through some growing pains for its successor, Diablo III is an easy to justify purchase, especially since the game is effectively free after some modest time spent farming and selling.… Expand

But, the auction house, and the measures Blizzard takes to make it necessary to use it if you are playing on anything harder than Normal, makes this game very frustrating. For one, the droprate is outrageous. After about 50 hours of farming this month, I have found about 1 item that is useful to my character and 1 more that is actually of any value. With drops like these, it is nothing short of impossible to play this game without friends or without spending north of 500 dollars on gear. The actual transactions themselves are rigged to line Blizzards pockets - every transaction has a very significant fee, and if you are not careful to redeem the money immediately to your PayPal, Blizzard has hold of the money forever. The constant online feature is less to curb piracy [although it has done this quite well], but more to make a paying model out of an essentially single player game, so that Blizzard has a fallback once World of Warcraft starts losing momentum, as is already happening. All in all, if you haven't started playing this game, then I most definitely recommend you stay away, or you will end up either wasting lots of money or lots of time or both, and be completely dissatisfied once the dust cloud settles.… Expand

Once you get to the highest difficulty it becomes truly impossible to progress without absolute top notch gear. The problem isn't getting your assed handed to you it's that you are punished severely currently for dying with the repair costs. So, in essence you are not encouraged to push for progression at all. Another major problem is not necessarily that the AH has better gear normally than you find yourself, that was to be expected, the problem is that in order to progress, through act 1 inferno you need act 2 gear, and to progress in act 2 you need act 3 gear and to progress in act 3, you need act 4 gear. This is a huge problem and just lends itself to endless farming for gold so you can afford the overpriced items that people who have had enough time or a big enough losers have posted for rediculous sums. The gear that is needed to progress should drop in the act BEFORE the next one, that is the only logical progression. They either need to up the drop rates, or nerf inferno again for this to happen. This game has huge potential make no mistake and blizzard has a great reputation of adding tons of content and balance fixes through patches. The story and atmospher e were compeletely **** in this game compared to the other Diablos and unfortunately this cannot be fixed before the expansion.… Expand

    - Why do you have to play each character as a tank?

    I liked beeing a GlassCannon DemonHunter with high DPS. This is not whining. I'm just thinking about the good old DotA, where agi Heroes were VERY fragile, but hit hard which i liked.
    This applies for all the other classes, too (except barbarians). Either you focus on survivability or on dps (if you only have a limited budget!). Otherwise you're stuck in act1 which gets dull especially with low drop rates for good items.

    From what i see the survivability isn't much of an issue for monks/barbs, but monks always have to worry about their cooldowns and don't make enough damage, which is frustrating for them.

    I don't know that much about Witch Doctors and Wizards but as far as i can see they are too fragile and you can't enjoy playing them because your damage output is poor. This would be a problem if you were allowed to die - which you aren't because the repair costs has been inreased about 600% (if I'm coorect). Blizzard lowered the repair costs for damage inflicted durability loss by 50% (afterwards) because they wanted to make clear that dying isn't a part of the game, which is ok. BUT that's still 300% more repair costs than before just for playing through the game without dying.

    In conclusion (but just for my act3 Inferno game experience):
    If you only have limited resources (Gold and time to play) the only class which you still can enjoy to play are Barbarians. This doesn't mean they need to be nerfed. Instead other classes have to me adjusted so that you can enjoy playing them again.
    Every other class is hard work to play and only makes really fun if you have VERY good gear which isn't possible due to limited resources.    … Expand

    All on-hit effects pretty much do the same.
    You are forced to accept what Blizzard thinks is fun for you, this is robbery of fun.
    content is finished pretty fast, only longtime experience would be items but the idemdesign is pathetic, including legendaries, and even more pathetic are set items.
    all in one this game is a waste of money, propably worth being called an alpha-test-status game but there is no legitimation to deliver this product to the customer and ask money for it.

    The game is a joke. The difficulty they speak of in Inferno is CHEAP difficulty and not executed properly. There are situations that your character can NEVER escape from (no matter how geared you are), which always result in death. As stated before, my barbarian is MAD geared. I roll through Inferno ACT 3 in less than an hour every time. However, I cannot stand dying to stupid situations like when my barb's only CC breaking skill (WotB) is on cooldown and an elite decides to vortex me into a frozen along with 10 arcane orbs on me.

    furthermore, the loot is garbage. if they are going to force inevitable death upon us, they might as well have made the quality of the loot better. loot is uninspired, uninteresting, and unrewarding to find. D2 had a LOT better loot system. in D3 legendaries are total garbage and most of it gets NPC'ed. Yes, legendaries are being sold to merchants ALL THE TIME in D3.

    on top of all this, they made hundreds of millions of dollars yet skipped on improving their servers. the servers still lag and rubberband and causes lots of people to die constantly for no reason. If you're on hardcore, you lose your character if you die. this is just unacceptable for any company.

    plus, the RMAH makes the game pay-to-win and the drop rates ARE affected by the auction house as confirmed by blizzard staff. this just makes the game disgusting and causes people to quit even more.

    they promised a ton of things that they never kept, just do some googling and you'll see what i'm talking about.
    blizzard dropped the ball this time and i hope they pick up the slack again... they need better devs and higher-ups that make a good game to make well deserved money.    … Expand

    Nice game, great gameplay, smooth action, good balanced classes, AH. Big minus, after 300Hrs og playing there is not much to do. I have beaten beten diablo on inferno, have 3x60 and got bored with game.

    Still, game is very much worth money spent.

    If Blizzard thinks that it can use its rep to continue to sell non-innovative games like Diablo3 with draconian measures like this then they are fooling themselves. You are only as good as your last game and this is not looking so good.

The unique items are even rarer and not even as good as the random junk. Can't even customize the look of your character very far. Auction house is a mess that rewards exploiters and cheaters, and punishes honest players for not exploiting the game to earn large amounts of gold before they nerf the popular gold farming areas. Limited character builds take this action rpg from boring to tedious. Boring game that sold itself totally through hype. Bad story, bad gameplay, bad customer service. No self-respecting gamer will ever want to see Diablo 4, so hopefully we can bury this game franchise alongside Deckard Cain.    … Expand

Brutal is ok though except here it is brutal AND boring. Because you can't advance in any reasonable amount of time unless you shell out 100's for better gear via the Auction House. If you think you will be getting the gear in the game haha you are very funny. You wont. I farmed for weeks and drops of upgrade gear, things that will actually advance you to finishing Inferno, just do not drop frequently enough. You'd have to put in a 40 hour work week to have a middling chance without buying gear.

    That isn't my idea of fun.

    That said if you buy the game once the price drops about $20 bucks and play it through to 60 and quit you have a fairly fun game. People giving it a 0 or 1 score I think are reacting viscerally to some of the policies Blizzard has put in place. The game itself is decent-ish. It is no Diablo II or Dragon Ages or a lot of other better games. But it shouldn't be punished for what it isn't. It should be rated for what it is. What it is, is a decently entertaining game that should be put down after reaching level 60, because there literally is no game after level 60.     I loved diablo 2 and played it for many years, it was and still is one of the best games ever, but diablo 3 has nothing of it. Its boring, its frustrating and absolutly no fun at all. In 2 words, EPIC FAIL. Its realy funny that metascroe is at 88... this game deserves not more than 50... and thats too much for this crap.

    After playing this for 100+ hours I can say I really do not like the game. My desire to play it has gone to the negative. Everything in the game is super dumbed down. There really is no customization for your character and the story is so predictable. A HUGE disappointment.

When I first completed normal, I did not get any legendary or set items which was confusing, but I pressed on. Then nightmare mode, still nothing, no decent loot. I thought to myself "there will be better loot soon, I just know it".     I cant say I did not like the game but I did not love it either.. I just cant see the HUGE replayability everyone was talking about. The storyline is good and so is the gameplay but thats that. I really wanted the PvP to be there from the release but that didnt happen.. The AH is really good and verry helpfull and overall the game is enjoyable...

Characters are two dimensional, no sense of pacing, predictable plot twists, and lack of any emotional undercurrent. In-game cutscenes are cartoonish and fail to convey any gravitas. Forgettable music and sound. Your character screaming "I require aid", "not enough discipline" and other such nonsense becomes aggravating, especially at higher levels. Lack of character customization. Skills/rune system is extremely limited and funnel you into a few builds per class. Many of the skills are useless. VERDICT = I was on stage 3 of the Diablo boss fight on Hell, doing very well after 12 attempts, and got a server disconnect. I uninstalled the game 15 minutes ago and am officially done. The always-online requirement destroys the core functionality of the game. Losing all your map progress due to server connection problems is UNACCEPTABLE. Again, there is NO REASON for a single player game to have an always-online requirement. If you wanted to hop into a co-op game or do online trading, fine, connect to the servers at that time. But if you're soloing by yourself, there is absolutely no reason. This, and the realization that the game is nothing more than a grind for more powerful (and ultimately meaningless) gear, has led me to quit. There are better and more meaningful games to waste your time on.… Expand

    The games community is hollow, it is overrun by goldfarmers (after day one) and the CM's / Dev's don't truly seem to care about the current shoddy state it is in. They are more interested in updating the RMAH (real money auction house, to make more money, they take a 15% cut and therefore that is where all their interest is.)
    They ADMITTED they have NO end-game on the horizon (will prob milk the fans summore w/ an expansion that will fix the major flaws) so yea, this game is bad... and I am truly sad to say it as I have been following it since before it was released.

    I feel sad about it all, but I feel I needed to say what was on my mind, as the forums are a TERRIBLE place to commune as they are ovverun with fanbois and whiteknights (prob on Blizz payrole) that will evicerate you over ANY comments that portray D3 in anything but a positive light.

    Mediocre: Graphic, sound
    Poor: Story line, not random map, layout, champion pack at entrance, Act 3&4 are pretty much identical
    Horrible: Forced Auction House (no way you can get through the game without it) - you need act 3/4 gear to clear act 1/2. Real money items are nerfed at will. Monster prefix are stupid - not challenging. Too many monster who can 1 shot you - regardless of your gear. Only a few build works in Inferno mode, everyone is a copy cat of one another. Their bnet is very unreliable yet they force you to be online to play. Too much lagging and frequent update/patches shut down their server when you have free time.

    This game belongs in the $14 discount bin. Ok to kill time on normal difficulty but the later stages are just plain stupid. Such as huge let down, there are too many OTHER more engaging games to waste time on this game at its current state.

    Source: I play multiple max level characters in Inferno (their hardest difficulty). People who haven't reach Inferno defend the game, but they have are clueless to the imbalance since they never get there.    … Expand

I am quite confident that the MAIN reason blizzvision nerfes(or they say, Patches) the exploits of the system ( which is funnily their developers thought already balanced on 15 May) is to make sure the MAJORITY of the players play the F***ing game the WAY developers WANT them to play, which is obviously very gear dependent (for solo) and similar to WoW ( eg: melee tanks, range dpsing from behind). In other words MORE RMAH SHOPPING! more $$ milking!. With D2, I didn't know the terms of tanking, dps, or support role. those terms I learned from WOW!

    secondly why this game is a tremendous utter failure is the loot/gears mechanic. ZERO creativity and with very bland Flavor. Leave almost no room for future gear improvement, sh**tty legendaries and yet the developers claimed it would be the biggest Diablo ever ( yea dream on ). only 3 most important stats that people can look for in D3 in terms of gear, the primary STR/DEX/ INT, VITALITY, and ALL RES (+optional 1 individual RES). nothing else really matter. as for weapon and attack power, mainly concerns of the weapon DPS and stats, but very few interesting effects whatsoever (mainly critical dmg, AS, and LoH, the rest of the effects are next to useless).

    I also Realized that the whole game is mainly to get you hooked and hypnotized you to be dependent on Auction house ( blizzvision makes you accustomed to Gold auction house first, then progress to us$ AH. I still remember that even the FIRST day i played D3 (May 17), I already had to rely on GAH in order to progress much more quickly and some friends who refused the idea, got left far far behind. Ridiculously, this whole AH idea, completely destroyed D3 other feature which is crafting ( even retards know that buying stuff in AH is faster, cheaper and more reliable than sh*ts haedrig makes )

    Lastly, I have very little doubt that when pvp does come out later, there will be a huge patch and nerfs in order to balance up the horrid mess that developers had made. in order to mitigate this, I am quite sure that the developers will implement some quick fix like introducing pvp gear only, or nerfing pve dps gear, and so on and so on. and at the end of the day there is hardly any uniqueness in each characters, except gear progression ( sounds WoWisH?)
    it simply does not require much IQ to figure out that this scenario in the future will be full of WoWification ( way to go blizzvision, way to go!)

    D3 is no fun at all, no fun, NONE,compared to D2 i played. in D2, i could enjoy even the first 15 minutes of play, much more gory, unexpected surprises, andariel spooked me, ( i laughed at butcher as he used the same 'fresh meat' phrase from dota /warcraft, and sadly uses the same hook skill ). I enjoyed exploring the stuff in D2, and it was hard even in normal difficulty at that time ( D3 normal mode is an insult to most players). When i played D3 I felt like I was working in a 2nd job. boring, tedious and very very repetitive, 80% of the map is fixed ). Blizzvision really did lie to customers in this map randomization feature.

    then i reached a point where i was so bored, I deleted all characters i had (high/low level, including my baba) and uninstalled the game just to made my evening better after work.

    After buying their two products and witnessing their current money milking business model, I can hardly trust any products from Blizzvision anymore in my life as they have proven themselves again and again as a company that only prioritizes money milking in order to afloat. too bad folks, this company will hardly reinvigorate our childhood memories.    … Expand

    Ugh. Played it for about two weeks on and off, then everything just became extremely boring. Nothing to make you want to keep going, nothing to make you want to level every class, and I'm pretty sure i could say about 100 other bad things.

    You have two options to progress in this game once you're max level: 1) spend hundreds of hours farming the same content over and over with a small chance a high item level drops, and then an even smaller chance that the item that drops has stats that are good for you, OR 2) throw down some cash on the RMAH.     People expected a new reference for a good dungeon crawler and hack'n'slash game and renewal of the old item hunt formula. Unfortunately this is not what Diablo 3 will represent, instead people will get a game which will keep them entertained for a while until they stumble over the many shortcomings of its design and either continue to play until Blizzard has addressed them

    D3 is focused on the realmoney auctionhouse, as an income source for Blizzard to sustain the game. Thus they trim the drops to be so low that you are thinking about spending real money on it. It's a social experiment, to see how a real money auction is received by a large community.

    Blizzard is not what it used to be, they released a bad product and they even admit it, that item farming is not enough endgame, duh.. Really? Only Blizzard Zaelots enjoy this braindead and endless geargrind without any reason to it.

    My only hope is that they make an interesting PvP content, then i might try this game out. But right now D3 is one the failures of 2012 for me. Blizzard has to take a step up, after 7 years of developement they delivered less than Diablo2 offered, that's a no go for and i vote with my wallet and don't buy it.    … Expand

    D3 was a pretty big disappointment for me, constant connection problems, being forced to be on the internet to play a single player game, constant breaks in the animation and lag, even though i'm on a dedicated fiber provider. Overall the gameplay was fun, I started with a barbarian.     The plot was okay, it felt very rushed, which seems crazy for something that took 12 years to make. Cinematics are mind blowing good, but still with odd plot jumps. Final ending felt sad and not in tune with Diablo 1 and 2 storyline.

    The huge contrast between critics and user opinions is very shameful. Bribery seems rampant between devs and crits. Is it possible that all but one critic doesn't have a clue? No, it's not. Maybe if we had honest reviews there would be less pirating due to people getting ripped off by slanted reviews on mediocre games, like Diablo 3.

    Diablo 3 is a game that is a lot of fun depending on what class you play. I researched the different classes before the game was released and believed that I would love the Barbarian class. I did for awhile. Once I reached Inferno mode the game sucked. This game gets a 9/10 until you play Inferno as a melee class.     I shelved Diablo 3 because of something far worse: The poor gameplay design. Diablo 3 is not a good game in terms of gameplay, not even a mediocre one, it's bad. It lacks motivation, passion, soul, dedication, identification and innovation. It also misses something that makes it stand out, something unique that makes you want to play it - something that keeps you going.

    Of course, the artstyle (graphics, animations, models, cgi and sound) is well done, but the game world - altough well designed - feels too mingy, you never really get "the big picture" of how vast and epic this world actually is. Even worse, there's war and betrayal going on in the world of Sanctuary - and I didn't care, although I wanted to. The game feels soulless, dead and shallow. In the end, I had to ask myself "Why am I playing this?" and sadly, there was no answer. There's something wrong with the core of this game.

    I'm sorry to say that, Blizzard, but I couldn't identify myself with the game characters, and sadly, i also felt no empathy with their stories (I know, it's a Hack-n-Slay, but we're talking about Blizzard here - they always had a strong focus on good storytelling). The gameplay lacks almost everything which made the Diablo franchise so engaging and exciting; e.g. the skill system has been dumbed down way too much. Of course, there are runes, but they NEVER should have completely replaced Diablo 2's skill system! As a result, the Diablo 3 gameplay feels bland, repetitive and way too casual: In Diablo 2, you really had to think about what you were doing, but in Diablo 3, this is not the case - and maybe that's why the game feels generic.

    Blizzard made game design choices which - from my point of view - turned out to be completely wrong. They should have been more focused on the development of Diablo 3 instead of putting out one WoW addon after another. I really feel bad about giving the game a 4/10, but that's what it deserves from my point of view.    … Expand

The game is all about acquiring loot, and the loot is "randomly" generated except that there's a strong bias toward crappy items. I'd only be playing it to better equip my character and beat Inferno, when FUN is supposed to be the point of games. I think the idea of forcing the game online in order to control cheating (and take a cut of RMAH action) was severely misguided. Would it really matter if some other guy had gotten his items by some hack? WHY? When playing single-player there should not be network lag (or server unavailability) that screws up the experience for the player. I think they've made the decent items deliberately scarce in order to pump up the BS "economy" for fake items which they profit from. Even if we take it for granted that the game has to be online to prevent cheating & piracy, the RMAH represents a low in PC gaming to me.

    In future I may buy another Blizzard game, but I'll be more careful. Buying a Blizzard game isn't a no-brainer decision anymore after this.    … Expand

    I don't understand why all the big magazine give this game a 80-90 rating. It's one of the games which doesn't make any fun after 7-9 hours. The drop rate is quite poor, you can think because of the auction house , the game went to a pay-to-win game. SP should be offline, that's why it's called SP. For me one of the most disappointing game this year, only the hype wins.

    Being genuinely entertaining for post-work hour or couple of hours clicking on monsters. After first playthrough I thought I may as well pay my sub to WoW or Rift and at least have more diversified clicking.

    I do enjoy the story of the game, but it seems weighed down by the heavy-handed loot system. Maybe I'm getting old but I can't stay focused on this game. I logged in today after two weeks of non-activity and was surprised at General Chat being constantly filled with gold spammers and no one talking.

Almost every problems Blizzard had with illegal activities (bots, etc) resulted in patches that punished the legit players more than the botters. The always-on DRM was supposed to solve many problems, but ended up being a pain more than a solution.

    I estimate my enjoyment and experience value of the D3 product to 40$, maximum. In the future, I will be wary of acquiring another Blizzard product, as it will take good convincing from both reviews and friends before considering purchase.    … Expand

    Laggy servers, AH constantly down, Pay2Win, No Endgame, No pvp, mediocre itemisation, No offline mode, idiotic story and power rangers level dialogue, absolutely no sense of freedom like d2, annoying cutscenes every 30 seconds, game built around RMAH, multiplayer worthless + Bnet 2.0 = ghost town effect. This game is DEAD already.

    The game is too short and a lot of features are removed that were here in Diablo 2. I love some new stuff but that's just not enough for a game that was waited for 12 years. Expected more form graphics...
    I loved the story though and it seems to me that the game would be great but some crucial decisions went the wrong way...

    My one major complaint is that the game never feels very difficult, especially on Normal. There are frustrating moments, hordes of baddies, and increasing difficulty levels, but the same feeling of utter defeat never really happens as it did in the past.
