    The good: The game looks decent and plays just like you remember it.

    The bad: No matter how good a game looks and plays, none of that matters if you can't actually play it due to server issues.

    I did not wanted to make a review on the game since I was enjoying nostalgia pretty much. Now, there are a lot of issues with servers and they have decided to implement queues to deal with it. Instead of taking time and resources to actually fix their stuff, they put blame on the customer and blocks them from playing. Its not even a product anymore but a laughing stock.

    Resurrected my Metacritic log-in to rate this steaming pile of crap. I swore an auth after Fallout 76 to never pre-order again and to never support a game broken at launch. Refunded on day 1. No more chances. Billion dollar studios are not allowed to sell you a broken **** anymore.

    I feel that this game is rather unpolished on release. That is, there's hardly any difference between this version and its beta. And it's still going off on it. I see that they reworked the graphics in their own image and the engine based off of it so I like that.

    Unplayable game, you easily can waste a lot of time on character and later understand that you lost your entire progress (several times).

    Alas I have to rate D2R very low. Crashes after a few hours play, very long log in queue's from a company that makes Billions a year, and the list goes on. Vicarious Visions (alas now part of Activision Blizzard) done a great job on the graphical overhaul. But to be let down by very poor standards of the servers from Activision. If they get the servers actually letting people into play theAlas I have to rate D2R very low.     Servers always shutdown last days! 4 days when people cant play on any platform.. Today (10/13) console (PS5) download new Patch and game show your characters, but when you click Play - game dont do anything! Thing is - if you dont downlodad this patch - game work! I check PS4 - there is no    I dont know what happen with Blizzard??? This is a worse thing i ever meet in game industry!!!

    Servers are a mess. The game itself is not bad...when you are able to play (what is rare). Do not buy this piece of sh*t. F*ck blizzard, you'll never see my money again.

    Ah.... this game... If you played d2 in the past, well, is the same game with new graphics (even the same bugs)....

    Well, i hope they fix servers asap, becouse everyone is getting mad about the game

    You made skill bar for console but pc got rekt, auto pickup gold but not stack-able potion, runes, gems.
    i lost 40€

    To anyone reading this, spare your money for a better purchase.

    I don't believe in giving games a 0, but this one was hard. Blizzard let the Diablo 3 hating purists have every single demand they wanted and they STILL hate the game, not even for their horrid server issues. These people ruined it to get EXACTLY what they wanted and they still hate it. In the end, D3 fans don't like the game and D2 fans don't like the game. On top of that, the game isI don't believe in giving games a 0, but this one was hard. Blizzard let the Diablo 3 hating purists have every single demand they wanted and they STILL hate the game, not even for their horrid server issues. These people ruined it to get EXACTLY what they wanted and they still hate it. In the end, D3 fans don't like the game and D2 fans don't like the game. On top of that, the game is almost impossible to play because of server issues. It took them a month just to implement a server queue and my average wait time is over an hour if I really want to play, being 550+ in queue. That queue does not move fast.

    So to flip things a bit, I'll save server issues for that, but these are the issues with the game:

    - Inventory management is awful
    - Inventory size is a joke
    -Town portals are expensive
    - Leveling is a total joke and takes far, far too long
    - Diablo is the most overpowered boss I've ever seen. I've yet to land a single hit on him despite having killed every single previous boss on the first try. Diablo has killed my entire party in a single stomp every time. I honestly haven't even seen him at all. he kills me from off-screen
    - Hit registration is nearly non-existent. I have a 99% chance to hit yet roughly 80% of my attacks just vanish into thin air.
    - When you play offline, the game no longer randomly generates the maps each login
    - When you play offline, the stash is reduced to barely 80% of the online stash and you have only one single page. There's enough room for your quest items, meaning the things you MUST keep, and absolutely nothing else.

    Then there's the server issues:
    - Server queue wasn't implement until recently. The switch got it yet another week later
    - Server queue length is criminal and can take in the upwards of multiple hours
    - Playing on weekends or evening is not possible. The servers are full
    - Let's not forget the rubber banding that has resulted in me getting killed multiple times and no, it is absolutely not my internet.
    - Even better, it disconnects at random. It's not all that common, but happens once or twice every other or every 3rd playthrough. Once disconnected, it's back to the queue

    I'm only playing it cause I want to finish the story, but I've already gotten refunds for my Xbox and PC. I've only got it on Switch and I only play it handheld. Docked is.....seriously ugly. I will never understand how the game runs significantly worse than D3 on identical hardware. I've also never seen a game that had not one, but TWO betas, and still managed to launch in a far worse state than the beta.    … Expand

    OH NO! Connection error cant make a game. 10 minutes later... OH YEAH! I finally got to make my game and it only took 248 tries. 23 minutes into a magic finding run, backed out of game. Wow that is weird, but i can just get back into my game right? Error    Want to log into the game, get in queue. 45 minutes later... Oh thank you blizzard for gracing me with a short wait time.

    248 attempts later to make a new game. 2 minutes in, kill a skeleton, pick up an dirty little stamina potion and game crashes. Damn, that sucks guess I will get back in quick, I already waited in the queue earlier and surely it has died down.

    Go back to line one of the review.

    This is the D2R experience. Despite how good the game looks, how great the nostalgia, the fact is that this game has so many unplayable features and crashes, it makes me embarrassed to say I bought this game. IDK why I thought Blizzard would have made something good, when they have been been feeding us **** through a mesh screen for so long. Hopefully the company just gives up after all the lawsuits and bad reviews in the next couple months before they can disappoint us with a Diablo 4 and whatever half ass experience they are going to give us in the future.    … Expand

    OK, I know, this is orthodox game release but c’mon we are in 2021, not 2000.

    And this omnipresent bugs: from forum, via servers, to the game. Bugs are ubiquitous. I cannot write posts on my main account (I use second) because: “You must own Diablo II: Resurrected to post on this forum” - oh, really I do not have D2:R, oh really?

    And DO NOT tell me that this is only remaster, not remake - price is AAA game and only price define value of the product, not useless PR quotes. This is 2021, and you are one of biggest game dev on the world - how is it possible to release this kind of product in such condition?! This is an outrage.

    This is a censored version of Blizzard’s classic looter. What was the point of bragging about how much attention to detail was given to replicate the original’s graphics if you couldn’t get the basics of the character models right? All the classes look like they’ve aged 20 years as if the models actually aged in between the original and “remaster”. Blizzard even censored some of the enemy models and backgrounds. Blizzard knew the outrage from fans over the changes they made to the character designs and doesn’t seem to care and released it in this condition anyway. The only reason I gave this game a 1 is that you can switch back to the original uncensored graphics but that kind of defeats the purpose of buying a remaster in the first place and that doesn’t really fix the ugly models which are still present.     I am not a Diablo 2 fan, so I give it 3 out of 10. 3 belong to the original game's mechanism. The rest are all disgusting changes made by blizzard. What a trash company.

I am not a fan of the game, but i still got offended by the racial diversity and uglified female.     2. YOU NEED BNET to even play. What a disgusting move. You don't have truely offline mode, that means even if you play single player, you have all kinds of delay like a thrid class indie online game. And I haven't mention lost of progress, lsot of connection. For **** sake, blizzard's server are garbage.
    3. With this updated graphic, it don't really look up to date with current graphic standards, but the performance is so bad. Constantly stutering and framedrops. Blizzard put their interest before their customer, very good practice.
    4. Well, all other annoying and outdated design in this game are perserved. That's very freaking lazy. And they even managed to add more new bugs.

    Updated: Tried a few mods recently found another huge disgusting change made by blizzard, other than ban mods. In single-player, you use to keep the map you explored, so if you want to farm any boss, it's very easy to do once you explored the map. However, in the online single-player mod(I know how stupid this sounds), your map resets every stupid time! And you can't use plugin to show the map. What can I see, blizzard can really find a way to make a 20 years old game even worse than the orginial

    The graphics are a nice upgrade but it's not enough, this feels so outdated, so tedious, and I wonder for what? A few new videos? I'm disappointed there isn't any fresh content and some of the mechanics are so 1998 and there's just nothing good about that at all.

    It was a fantastic game, who had a few bugs that proberly should be get fixed.
    After the release i can't even launch the game, they say its an AVX error. On the 3rd after launch it is however not fixed yet. Why? Course they had other issued to fix aswell, mainly with servers with working and charceters getting stuck. I    Bought the game, play the betas. Both closed beta and open beta

    There is no e-shop in the game. How can i sell items? For 20 years Blizzard cannot reduce this problem. Some people have great money, but not we are. Make stable instrument for civil trade in 2021. One point for good graphic restore.

    They continue to mess this game up more and more as time goes on. From the absolute atrocious "woke-friendly" artwork decisions (just look at the Amazon) to continuing server issues and now to their insanely misguided rebalancing of classes, they can't get anything right. The most recent atrocity they've decided to commit was to nerf the Druid's Shapeshifting tree so badly that it's nowThey continue to mess this game up more and more as time goes on. From the absolute atrocious "woke-friendly" artwork decisions (just look at the Amazon) to continuing server issues and now to their insanely misguided rebalancing of classes, they can't get anything right. The most recent atrocity they've decided to commit was to nerf the Druid's Shapeshifting tree so badly that it's now unplayable in any form. Shapeshift was the most versatile tree in the Druid's arsenal and led to an incredibly diverse array of possible builds. Now you basically have wind, fire, and summon as your only three options.

    Diablo II: Resurrected is far from perfect. The changes in character design are likely to rile up returning players, and the archaic gameplay probably won’t agree with younger generations weaned on more streamlined, sophisticated experiences. While I appreciate that this legendary title is now available in an improved format, it’s not a caveat-free recommend.

    Diablo II: Resurrection is outdated return of the legend, but it brings such a perfect atmosphere and such a wonderful audiovisual processing, that serie fans will be excited.

    Diablo II returns with refreshed graphics and unaltered gameplay (apart from some small improvements). It’s as fun as I remembered, so I quickly felt at home and gave in to nostalgia. However, it’s hard not to notice that beneath revamped visuals lies a 21 years old design. [12/2021, p.32]
