    I can't, in my earnest and much disappointed opinion, give this game a good score right now. I had no problems at all with the beta. It went over smoothly. Only issue was maybe some rubber-banding, but never any disconnects. I just started playing tonight and so far I have been disconnected twice and when trying to load back in, it says the instance of that game is still in session. The removal of TCP/IP further taints this game. Also, Blizzard didn't care to have a way to port in your data from the beta, so you are forced to start fresh, that is IF you can play the game without being disconnected. Such a major letdown and disappointment. Although you can play offline, there is something wrong about paying $40 for a game that you feel has to constantly be online and even fails at trying to do that. Blizzard has had time to stress test things, this is just full blown laziness on their part.… Expand

The only thing this has brought to the table is a pretty paint job overtop a butchered game. The servers don't work, the game crashes constantly on very beefy systems, they have purposefully stripped parts of the game out toThis is a joke right? The paint job is nice to look at, but not worth $40, especially when the game doesn't run and has content cut purely for the sake of creating hype. Blizzard has no surprised me with this cash grab, but they can still surprise me by actually fixing things and not continuing with the greed fueled mindset they go at everything with (if they try and charge money for ladder heads will f*cking roll).… Expand

    Let's sum up my Diablo 2: Resurrected experience so far...
    Play for 5 hours at the initial release and get disconnected. Attempt to connect to a new game to continue playing and get notified that “Failed to enter game, this character is already in a game on the server.”... This error persists for another 3 hours locking me out of being able to play.

    I'm finally able to join another game at which point I get connected only to see that approximately 3 of the 5 hours of my progress, including the items, waypoints, quests, levels, everything had been rolled back and lost.

    I continue playing for several more hours and experience the same error message once more "Failed to enter game, this character is already in a game on the server."... This time I have been locked out of being able to join games for 18 hours now but I can still see the character selection screen so I can see that my character is 6 levels lower that what they were at...

    This was a fail of a launch as per usual by Blizzard.    … Expand

    Sadly, first two days after launch have been plagued by server issues, and a significant portion of players being locked out of creating and joining games, both of which have impacted me. I have yet to see a streamer with a significant following experience the issue with player lockouts for an extended period of time. The few hours I was able to play I was impressed by the updated visuals, especially act 4 river of flame. Blizz has followed up with me individually in regards to the lockout issue and stated:

    "Our developers are currently working on a solution to this issue and hope to have this fully resolved as soon as possible.

    Despite this, your character will automatically become available to play given time. We do not have a way to speed up this process and can only ask for your patience while this is being worked on."

    I have not been able to play multiplayer for 18 hours now    … Expand

    Failed launch of game full of issues and server problems. Would highly recommend saving your money and waiting to see if they intend on providing solid customer service or more Blizzard lip service.

    Everything I expected is there, and then some. If you were a fan of the original, definitely get this one! Great visuals, smooth gameplay, some QoL changes. Apart from a few server problems on launch day, which was to be expected (blizzard games always have problems on launch day, due to the large amount of players trying to log in) and lasted no more than a    An amazing remaster.

    Blizzard is just a shadow of the company it once was. 20+ years publishing online games and they still don't know how to launch them

    If you didn't purchase the game yet, avoid it at all costs

    Abysmal launch. Servers bugged out, characters locked out. Can not play the game and some of my friends are locked out for 24+ hours.

    Colors are not vibrant but dull, color contrast is off, it's hard to differentiate units and objects on screen. The lower part of the online lobby panel just looks bad and unfinished.     This game is literally BS. I bought the game because I want to feel nostalgic, as this game was my first PC game I ever played. I even stayed late at night just to play the game. What they did is that I only played only on play button?! WTF, I got defeated by only play button. Its almost 2 days now and they didn't even fixed it.     Blizzard envisioned Diablo II with a fresh coat of paint and they delivered exactly that. D2R does exactly what's described on the tin. It's the same game I remember from my childhood writ gorgeous and with a few quality of life improvements.     It plays exactly like the original to the point where you can literally toggle between the remastered and original game, should you let your masochistic desire for blurry pixels get the better of you. The performance could be better -- on the bare minimum game settings (@ 1440p) my RTX 1060/2600x struggles to hit a consistent 60fps, which seems puzzling for a game with so few assets. (If you're in a similar boat, switch your display mode from fullscreen to windowed and maximize said window. You'll get your buttery smooth Windows hardware cursor back no matter how poorly D2R performs "in the background.")

    Is the gameplay amazing in 2021? No. Some levels are tedious. The inventory is awkward and small. There are goofy mechanics: stamina bars, odd nomenclature (e.g. I'd forgotten that "attack rating" kinda means "hit chance"), annoying dialogue ("I'lL pUt tHaT tO goOd uSe" repeats my companion), etc. But to focus on these issues is to miss the point. Diablo II: Resurrected is explicitly a restoration project, not a greenfield project, and it delivers. If you want a new Diablo game, go follow the new Diablo game. They're on #4. There are blog posts about it and everything. Have fun.

    Does D2R have the same magic as the original? Of course not. Childhood nostalgia can't be matched. But while running though desert sands & lush forests summoning skeletons, I do feel the occasional same pangs of mystery and wonder I experienced in the original.

    The folks at Blizzard wanted to resurrect Diablo II and they did exactly that. If you want a modern hack-n-slash/RPG, pick up Hades or Grim Dawn. If you want to replay Diablo II, buy this game.    … Expand

    they say we want to make it true to original.. look how we make garlic .. and than they change all characters.. is this a joke? do they listen what they say ? character looks nothing like original.. they change stone statues ..... make it like original everything like original and it will be great..

It's made purely as a single player experience. I have spend more than 6hrs trying to connect to games what basically made me illegible for refund! Maybe it was planned this way. In addition the game CTDs like crazy, something original D2 just do no do. Playing on BattleNet requires save and exit every 15 minutes, because when the game/server fails you can loose all progress since last relog (I have lost this way lvl 15 paladin and was really pissed off when after relog he was lvl 1).

    While most of the streamers are protected by manual character resets, the general public has to deal with "character already logged in" bug preventing the account from being used.

    For premium users (streamers, game reviewers, etc) its probably a great experience. However if you aren't popular streamer, then i can't recommend D2R, despite Diablo 2 LoD being my favorite game of all time.     Oh dear lord, players told the devs the models were bad( almost half a year ago). Guess what?Game designer made excuses and totally ignore to change. Now logging into character looking at bad models is a total let down…last time I’m buying any Blizzard games, ignorant devs can go make their own version of the game and continue to lose player base. 0/10 for me.

    D2R on PC don't start because of AVX.
    D2R on Laptop have black screen because of Intel graphics.

    At the same the same time D3 runs amazing both.

    The game is awesome. IF and only IF you are able to play it. Been able to play it for a good 5 hours and those were pretty good, but for the last 4 hours ALL my characters are locked and i am unable to play AT ALL. If you want to play this with friends stay away from this game, if you are a solo player give offline a try however dont go in thinking that your character is safe from beingThe game is awesome.     Another awful launch of Blizzard game. We had Warcraft 3: Refunded, now we have Diablo II: Refunded. Two days after the launch and still can't play.

    The game is absolutely Diablo 2. Graphics looking good (and Amazon looking good as well, it is an ancient warrior, not Marvel superhero). No lags for me for 2 days.

Parted with my hard earned cash to get it on release day and they screwed up the programming and now half the frickin playerbase cannot play the game as we have CPU's without AVX support. Well over 24hrs into the release and the game will not start on my PC andWow Blizzard sure screwed this one up. Played the Beta and it was everything I expected after waiting 20 years for a remake! Parted with my hard earned cash to get it on release day and they screwed up the programming and now half the frickin playerbase cannot play the game as we have CPU's without AVX support.     Diablo II: Resurrected is far from perfect. The changes in character design are likely to rile up returning players, and the archaic gameplay probably won’t agree with younger generations weaned on more streamlined, sophisticated experiences. While I appreciate that this legendary title is now available in an improved format, it’s not a caveat-free recommend.

    Diablo II: Resurrection is outdated return of the legend, but it brings such a perfect atmosphere and such a wonderful audiovisual processing, that serie fans will be excited.

    Diablo II returns with refreshed graphics and unaltered gameplay (apart from some small improvements). It’s as fun as I remembered, so I quickly felt at home and gave in to nostalgia. However, it’s hard not to notice that beneath revamped visuals lies a 21 years old design. [12/2021, p.32]
