    One of the best cyberpunk games out there. In fact I think this one the best cyberpunk game since the original Deus Ex which came out in 2000. The gameplay was spectacular and there were very few bugs or glitches that I experienced. Overall I highly recommend this game especially if you are fan of sci-fi like Bladerunner.

    9, would've been for a more gripping story. 10, would've been if it played through flawlessly. The game mechanics are well developed over the last, everything that was added in features adds to the richness of the game. Even on Give me Deus Ex though, it was easy.     Substantial experience, and 5 playthroughs over the years means a lot. Are you surprised, yes these are the same people that created the abysmal Thief 4, it's hard to believe. The original Deus Ex was actually my very first game, it came free bundled with a new computer but I was not into games so it sat in the drawer for years... now I still play it today! HR is a fantastic throwback.Substantial experience, and 5 playthroughs over the years means a lot. Are you surprised, yes these are the same people that created the abysmal Thief 4, it's hard to believe.     This game is a masterpiece. This is one of the best games ever made imo and if you havn't played it, buy it now. This is one of the few games i would say deserves a 10/10

    I finally understood why it received so much praise. It is a good game. I won't bother comparing it with the original Deus Ex. The original Deus Ex was a stellar game for 2000 and certainly one of the best of all time, but it is kind of a sacred cow for some people and they think that nothing will ever compare with it. This is B$ of the highest order.

    Human Revolution is a great AAA game, good graphics and music, voice acting and sound. Gunplay seems a little bland compared to more traditional shooters, but this is more of a stealth/exploration game, so it doesn't really matter much.

    The gameplay is very rich, you have many creative ways to accomplish your objectives, and the game gives you total freedom. If you are creative, no playthrough will be the same. The game doesn't really hold your hand though, sometimes you will get lost trying to understand how to proceed.

    I love the RPG elements, they really influence how you tackle the various situations, although you tend to get very overpowered late in the game, and the Typhoon augmentation is really a cheat. All bosses die almost instantly to it.

    The main thing that bothered me the travel times. There is no fast travel, and even though the cities are small, you have to walk from end to end. This is tedious, and it would have been better if it had a fast travel system.

    Other than that, great game, i totally enjoyed it and recommend it. Would have given it a 9, but i am forced to give it a 10 because of the many inaccurate bad reviews.    … Expand

    Here is the thing. This game is freaking awesome. But...I'm playing on pc and the weapon is constantly being engaged. I holster my weapon ever 10 seconds. it just engages every few seconds. it is super anoying.

    dx1 was and still is one of the best games i have ever played and was replayed by me over 5 times...amazing game

    how anyone can compare this game positively to dx1 is amazing to me....i was so bored by this game i couldn't even make it to the 3rd level...after 2 attempts a year apart..boring story generic combat BORING PLOT, i was anything but impressed with this game...system shock    dx1 was and still is one of the best games i have ever played and was replayed by me over 5 times...amazing game

    Great game. It follows the story of Deus Ex Human Revolution.

    I liked Human Revolution and this game really developes the story in a great manner.

    Furthermore Deus Ex is a great Cyberpunk universe, with a "Dark reality".

    And this reality could really become ours one day!

    Got this game because of Mankind Divided. I wanted to familiarize myself with Deus Ex and understand the story. Was kind of disappointed considering all the praise the Deus Ex games get. Becomes repetitive after a while, the look and design of each level are all copy and paste. Barely any variety when it comes to mission. But I don't regret playing this game, this game does follow with the traditional gameplay style of Deus Ex and as well as the story progress as far as comparisons go which is a big bonus due to how much I love    Deus Ex Human Revolution is honestly the prefect prequel to the original Deus Ex.

    After being disappointed in Deus Ex: Invisible War, I was real hesitant to try this game out. But I don't regret playing this game, this game does follow with the traditional gameplay style of Deus Ex and as well as the story progress as far as comparisons go which is a big bonus due to how much I love Deus Ex. But Human Revolution had it's own moments which stand out. Firstly they had new augmentations, and these augments are amazing, going from Icarus landing system to stealth based augments. The new augments were a great touch. Gameplay mechanics were a lot better than in Deus Ex, with a new cover system (it's not as good as Splinter Cell conviction but it does has a good cover system.) some controls are weird (like aiming down the sight with the middle mouse button.) tolerable controls but it feels really weird and wonky which actually screwed me up a bunch of times forgetting to aim down with the middle mouse button. To be honest I don't know what they were trying with the middle mouse button here.

    Story progresses really well in HR, mostly because it's well paced and there is side missions to do, but not too much that it draws away from the story. And also you can explore in Hub Worlds (through story progression only sadly... instead of anytime visiting hub worlds to finish side missions.) But there is enough content to get yourself entertained. Main story is amazing too, it feels like just like the original deus ex with all the illuminati, the augmentations and the cyberpunk feeling. and you really start to appreciate every single bit of the game. From reading the emails to news reports and just listening to the npc rant about augmentations or praise augments or other topics so that you feel immersed into the environment and you have a feel for what's going on. Very few games does this efficiently and Human revolution is a prime example of this.

    Overall I tried to play a completionist playthrough but sadly I couldn't get enough but I have clocked in over 50 hours on my first play through with trying to get the max possible praxis kits. And after playing I was sad that it was over but this leaves me a chance to wait for Mankind Divided to come out in August. As I stated that deus ex human revolution is the prefect prequel to deus ex and I cannot wait to continue the tale of Adam Jensen in August.    … Expand

    There are also stealth augments if you choose to play this game stealthily…
    Everything about Deus Ex is so greatly designed…
    You can sneak around cover perfectly, climb through vents to pass patrolling guards…you can create your own cover by moving objects... you can sneak up behind enemies to either put them asleep or take them out for good, one being louder than the other, as well as hide their bodies to not alert everyone..
    You can play through the entire game without killing anyone…
    This game is also greatly designed for aggressive players like me
    so you have the option to play the game as a 3rd person shooter like I did as enemies do all carry weapons and ammo…
    This gives such a great feeling of freedom to truly tackle the game in any way you desire unlike other games that promise this but never truly deliver…
    its delivered here…
    You can peak over cover, and there is a variety of heavy, combat, and compact weapons, all with their own unique feel to them…
    All of this gameplay freedom sounds great but it’s not even the best part of the game…
    Deus Ex Human Revolution is hands down one of the most fleshed out games I’ve played period…
    There are side missions to complete…. Conversations to be had to convince a character to allow you to go inside a building for example, or to prevent a suicide… and not only are there conversations for you as the player, but the characters that inhabit this world all have conversations going on as well…
    Some seemingly random, I never heard the same line of dialog twice, bringing so much life into this world…
    you’ll hear characters on the streets of the handful of cities you visit asking for directions and the locals making fun of them because of the location they ask for… you’ll hear guards and janitors talk about work…
    it’s really perfectly done and other developers need to take note…
    The only downside to this game is ultimately the story…
    It’s the typical bad guys wanting to use technology for bad things story..
    It never really kept my intention or kept me pushing forward, luckily the gameplay is good enough to carry the game on its own.
    I give Deus Ex Human Revolution

    I played the original Deus Ex long after it's original release and to this day, I feel like it's impact may have been lost on me as a result. But it felt like a game far ahead of it's time, when compared to other first-person games of the era. In that way alone, Human Revolution does not stand out, as it lives in an age of many decent action-RPGs. Still, it's an incredibly stylish game.I played the original Deus Ex long after it's original release and to this day, I feel like it's impact may have been lost on me as a result. But it felt like a game far ahead of it's time, when compared to other first-person games of the era. In that way alone, Human Revolution does not stand out, as it lives in an age of many decent action-RPGs. Still, it's an incredibly stylish game. Adam Jensen is a smooth operator and a great character to play, and there's many ways through a given situation, and you're rewarded for exploring, doing side missions and generally trying to think outside of "pull trigger, receive experience." That said, the boss fights felt very underwhelming and the entire last few hours were a mess, especially the "ending." I feel like Edios Montreal were damned from the start, as making a prequel to a game like Deus Ex means that the game necessarily ends on a low note, and doesn't leave one with a lot of satisfaction. Been having a blast, of course -- lots of great stuff I've missed -- but this is the first one that really baffles me. A score of NINETY?? HOLY MOLEY this game is a complete drag. Far Cry 1 was more fun than this, and prettier to look at. For F's sake, reviewers!     One of the best games ever! perfect story perfect gameplay and the graphics are good.The only bad things are the forced boss fights.But you can easily beat them using the enviroment or shooting them at the head.

La soddisfazione nell'eseguire un doppio atterramento non letale, dopo essere riuscito a strisciare, non visto, in mezzo a due guardie. La consapevolezza di aver intrapreso, ancora una volta, il percorso secondario, di aver attraversato la finestra sul retro, di aver scelto la strada meno ovvia. Bisogna notare, comunque, che alle volte queste sensazioni sono solo illusorie (ovvero, le strade secondarie sono messe lì per essere trovate e sfruttate). Perchè Deus Ex HR NON si merita un 10, o un 9? Per via di un insieme di scenari, soprattutto nella prima metà di gioco, ripetitivi (uffici, scrivanie, computer), non aiutati da una scelta dei colori che uniforma gli ambienti anche nei casi in cui ci si spinge in vicoli suburbani o perfino in fognature, o piattaforme in mezzo all'oceano. Anche il gameplay non è vicino alla perfezione, in particolare lo shooting (seppure sia secondario, data la natura del gioco che predilige evitare uno scontro piuttosto che vincerlo). Non ispirati alcuni dialoghi, probabilmente indeboliti dal doppiaggio in italiano (avrei dovuto giocarlo in lingua originale, con sottotitoli).     Lo Bueno:Atrapante, Genial!. Las Horas pasan muy rápido con este bien logrado juego. Admito que me lo compré sin saber nada de él, pero que ha sido una sorpresa y un agrado jugarlo.
    Si esperas un shooter puro este juego no va con ese tinte. Mezclado con estrategia, rol, acción y el famoso pero para mí, poco experimentado mundo de los juegos con "Stealth Mode".
    La jugabilidad del juego es    Lo Bueno:Atrapante, Genial!. Las Horas pasan muy rápido con este bien logrado juego. Admito que me lo compré sin saber nada de él, pero que ha sido una sorpresa y un agrado jugarlo.
    Si esperas un shooter puro este juego no va con ese tinte. Mezclado con estrategia, rol, acción y el famoso pero para mí, poco experimentado mundo de los juegos con "Stealth Mode".
    La jugabilidad del juego es lo que más atrapa, la estética es muy buena también y el sistema de pirateo es complejo y a la vez muy entretenido.

    High quality game!
    Cyberpunk grim-future nerdgasm, adult theme, fun stealth section, well written dialogues (and dialogues actually have impacts on mission and side quest) , side quest mission are not boring, good rpg aspect, cool visual style, interesting world to explore, fun combat sequence, cool bosses. Buy it...it won't disappoint.

Plenty of times I thought I was finished the game when it would throw me right back into something else.     Parts of the story could have been removed as they felt more as filler. Overall the game was about 23 hours long and they could have made it into 20 and still had a impressive story.
    Gameplay offered the choice of guns blazing or merciful saint, I often found myself trying not to spill blood...which ended in me unloading a hail of gunfire.
    When playing Deus Ex I would highly recommend using a keyboard rather then a game pad. The controls on the gamepad felt clunky and unorganized compared to the keyboard.    … Expand

But the game world is basically the same size. You'll go to Hong Kong, for example, and there's not substantially more to explore than there was in the first DX. It's not an open world game, which is fine. But when I'm lead by the nose from location to location, I want to at least feel mildly overwhelmed by the expanse laying before me. In DX:HR, I felt more like I just entered a COD stage.

    The augmentation system is alright, I guess. It's been a while since I played this game, so I don't recall exactly how I felt about that at the time. All I know is that it didn't stand out in my mind as either good or bad. I guess I was pretty apathetic towards it.

    I'll give the game credit for the strategy aspect - it really did present you with multiple opportunities to negotiate any given obstacle. If you were good at hacking, for example, you could alter the turrets/robots to attack your foes. Or maybe stealth was your bag, and you opted to shimmy past all the bad guys. Or maybe you just straight-up went in guns-blazing. Whatever the case, you really could contour the game to suit your play style.

    The absolute worse aspect of the game, however, was the boss battles. There were a few of these thrown into the mix, and they srsly detracted from the experience. For one thing, they were extremely difficult. Also, if you didn't possess the necessary resources to overcome your foe, then you were pretty much out of luck. Basically, you had to download a third party mod that allowed you to cheat your way through the encounter. Pretty lame, tbh.    … Expand

    Story is average at best. The final morale monologue is silly. Action based combat is ok, the sneaky way is super benevolent, guards have like 60degree to see you so you can sneak almost directly in front of them. It gets very fast repetitive. The small city hubs are a joke.

    The good of it was that it was a stealth game. You could avoid combat in almost every scenario with enough time and cunning. The stealth and cover system were basically well done. I can't really complain. The weapons were unique and varied, each one with its own personal flavor and the inclusion of nonlethal weapons was also a nice touch. The game's atmosphere was also well done and well maintained. I had a real sense of investment in the story and when things started turning new directions it actually managed to play with my emotions.

    But that is also where the game started falling apart. Atmosphere is broken by the simple ugliness of the game as the graphics are crap and the animations are the second worst known to video games, edged out for last only by Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. Everyone animates like C3PO from Star Wars and apparently have nutcracker jaws. Really disappointing for such a big budget game. The character models are also garbage, having completely unrealistic proportions. On the note of graphics, was it necessary to make the cutscenes prerendered? They were not any better in quality than the 3d engine's graphics and the change was always unwarranted and awkward.

    On the note of atmostphere breaking things, I always loved how the smallest most obscure objects managed to hide Adam's bulk. I am pretty sure you can't hide from someone who is literally looking over your shoulder. In that regard the stealth was really forgiving but on other occasions it wasn't. Can I please dispatch people 1 half of a nanosecond after they have spotted me without the entire galaxy being put on alert? No? Well as long as I am asking for things, can I have a sniper rifle scope that is bigger than 4 pixels on my screen (3 of which i should add are completely obscured by fancy guilding and golden pixels)? Ahh, I see that's a no as well.

    As would also the answer to my requests for thermal vision to detect invisible enemies (we can see through walls but can't see infrared, wtf mate?), more sidequests, boss fights where the bosses don't get cheapshot attacks and that actually make use of the mechanics other than shooting (bosses are uncessarily tough, they can already one shot anyways), bosses which are explained as to why they hate me, and a story that doesn't have more "PSYCH!" plot-twist moments and ambiguity than any game I've seen to date.

    You know what? That was actually all tolerable. The iffy mechanics, bad graphics, hard-to-follow story, the horsecrap boss fights - all that I can live with. The thing that ultimately broke this game for me was the ending, which to give you a taste is actually impossible to spoil because it reveals, resolves, and explains literally nothing.     Nice game, managed to give the feelimg of the first deus ex, a worthy addition to the series. Although I prefer the first games scenario and gameplay. The only thing I disliked was the city designs. Really hard to find your way and the streets felt lifeless and empty.

Suffice to say I was not far from the truth. This game is nowhere near the original when it comes to the sheer scale of the story and gameplay but .... and that is a BIG BUT: THIS GAME IS GREAT.

    Let me start at the beginning. DEHR is a console port that had issues to begin with. It suffered from the Splinter Cell / Hitman fanboy influence but fortunately the guys in Montreal kept that to a minimum and gave us a solid game worthy of the Deus Ex name. The combat is a bit clunky and the sneaking could use a few touches here and there when it comes to sound detection.... yeah I could knock over a barrel and the guards would not even turn around. And the items are a bit ordinary. In the first DE you got this feeling of urgency where everyone is ill and terrorists threaten the survival of ... well everyone. HR however keeps things personal to the point where you are chasing your "EX-Girlfriends" killers. That didn't really help me get pulled in.... never liked that princess saving story line in mario so I don't see why it should be in DEHR.
    All that aside I had a tone of fun playing it and I don't see why anyone else would not. Things to note, long loading times, drops in frame rate in the vanilla version, low textures, clunky controls and that 3rd person cover mechanic does not belong in DEHR.
    The good parts: Lots of exploration, sneaking and stunning, lots of different approaches to the same situation and a good play time of 28 hours.

    If you like your games immersive and romantic then this is your kind of game. It loves itself and the care the developers took to make it shows. If you are a cold heart-ed gun shooting, soldier loving gamer then this is not your bag.

    amazing game. i loved every aspect of this game. You can go in guns blazing, or sneak your way through or a bit of both. the story and plot was really good and satisfying. Also, the soundtrack list by Michael McCann is one of my favorite soundtrack list ever.

    Human Revolution for me was a game of wasted potential, the concept of being able to modify your body is brilliant and could have had far more interesting options than it did. Some of the environments were quite dull and often felt very similar to each other. And I didn't like how at the end of the game you literally just choose between 3 options.

    Beautiful and inspiring visuals, fantastic soundtrack, solid gameplay, relevant themes, Jensen's grumpy voice and you can punch the crap out of that guy with spiky hair, who dances like a dunce. This game has everything for an unforgettable experience and a worthy successor to the original.

    Superb level design, great story and characters, very good stealth system (you can "stick" to barriers and move between them unnoticed) are also not missing. In general, I had a feeling that you get more EXP for choosing the stealth route, so that's what I did and I had loads of fun with this game. It can, however, be also played in an action manner and I believe that you will not be disappointed either.

    The augmentations range from hacking (which in itself is a fun little mini game that makes it actually interesting to hack into things), stealth abilities, conversational upgrade to e. g. having a bomb-like attack. So, a variety is definitely present and most of the abilities are useful enough so that you want to try them out.

    So, why didn't this game receive a 10 from me? For two reasons in particular:
    - The bosses in this game force you to kill them and if you focus on a stealth character, it makes the boss fight very hard, as you have to first gather equipment and ammo while avoiding the boss attacks. Because non-upgraded weapons are sort of weak, you will spend a lot of time frustratingly trying to kill certain bosses.
    Note that this was fixed in the Director's Cut version, where you have the option to beat bosses by hacking, using stealth etc.

    - The ending does not take into account the decisions you've made during the game and you get to choose at the absolute end of the game which is in my opinion a bad decision.    … Expand

    I was really tense to play this game. In the beginning, you feel like it is really good! It seems to have a great story, the game play is a lot of fun and the dialogues are maybe not so good as in Mass Effect, but still feel fine. After a while, the game starts to feel quite repetive however. Its ok for the money I bought it, but I would not like to pay the full price for it.

Fallout is one of my favorite games and Deus Ex Machina BLEW FALLOUT AWAY! Somehow even the Side Quests felt urgent and even when you're in the same area, it feels way different because there are different characters and different place are open, the Hong Kong skyline WAS AMAZING!     Probably my equal biggest gripe though, is getting lost. The maps are quite big. They are often in two halves and linked by a loading screen. You'll get a task, struggle like hell to find and get to it even with a waypoint. Then you'll struggle unbelievably to get back to base. Only to get another task and sent back again. Finding it second time is just as confusing.

    Hacking, always hacking. Last mission I must have hacked seventy terminals. It's not really entertainment. If I had more sense I would give up. I have Alien Isolation downloaded and waiting. I have the new Wolfenstein. Eight new games waiting for me. Only I want to get unfinished games out of the way first.

    Final complaint being last but not least. This game is full of areas with alarms. Wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah wah! On and on until you find a panel to switch it off. I mean probabaly 1/5 of the game I was listening to a klaxon in repeat cycle.

    Really it's a strong 64% rating. Consider this, it makes you sit through ten minutes of credits for an un-interesting and very short cut scene after. That's a perfect example of the attitude of the whole game.    … Expand

Next .. what is with Jensen's voice, it was just so ..... ...... ..... boring, flat, one tone and just simply no emotion. Also considering the fact he just lost the love of his life yeh think the designers may have added something along the lines of a sad face :( . I ended up spacing through about 30% of the game because of the flat line dialogue and ruined what could have been a more imersive experience..that's my moan out of the way. Game play I have to admit was fun simply put. Storyline was interesting(Illuminati, whats not to like), but I felt it was a little stretched out chucking in the side quests and some pointless and predictive exploration to elongate an obvious short storyline.. just felt like there were some things missing. Graphics interior and exterior were nice and clear, though a little to sharp, could have softened and rounded some edges.… Expand

    It's an absolutely superb game. It's one of those rare occasions, where they did the original game justice, didn't dumb it down, but rather improved on the gameplay and graphics given the 13 years or so in between. The story is intriguing, and it is definitely one of those games that will suck you in and will keep things interesting. For instance, I absolutely do not mind revisiting a location, or combing every inch just to not miss a particular gadget, credit chip or other goodies. There are also a ton of different paths and even if the game tells you this, I will reiterate it again at this point: Think out of the box! The most direct path rarely works best. Not because you can't use it, but because it is usually the most difficult way.

    An all-out assault will only do one thing: Antagonize entire factions and make you literally hide at every turn. It is far more fun to use the stealth approach and leave a location without so much as having raised any suspicion. You will also get the opportunity to augment your character with all kinds of bio-synthetic technology. Word of advice: Improving the hacking and cloaking abilities will make your life a lot easier throughout the game!

    DEHR perfectly combines RPG and FPS elements, requires you to think while solving certain (security) puzzles, and there are choices to make that can affect the outcome of a situation and/or the potential reward. And, again, do look around. If you cannot get past a hack, somewhere there will be a PDA containing the code.

    A brief note also on performance issues; I had them, too. It's not so much a frame rate drop, than a stutter, as if your computer is trying to load more data. Since there are no texture pop-ins, it's not a performance issue as such though. There are guides with a number of registry fixes which seem to have worked for some people, but not for me. My solution was to run the game at my monitor's native resolution. I found by chance that the game was auto set to 1920x1080 which is fine, except my screen's native resolution is 2048x1152. Once set to that, even on all settings maxed out, no more stuttering.

    So, in conclusion, even if you do not know the original Deus Ex (I would strongly recommend you play it just for the sake of having played one of the best games of all time, despite the somewhat dated looks), this game is worth it. You are given a mission, how you approach it, is your call. If you want to go in with weapons blazing (providing your have the ammo for it), do so, if you want to go stealth, do that. Combine both approaches, sure. Trust me, it's going to be a great and memorable journey.

    For me, personally, it sits right up there with the likes of Mass Effect and Splinter Cell. Truly epic.    … Expand

    I have just a one element that felt a bit weird - a bit like out of the game and that is boss fight. What makes it weird is the fact that if you make your character progression in other way then you might have VERY SERIOUS problems beating the boss.

    Played this game at least 6 times to date. Visuals are stunning, the music really creates a sense of atmosphere and gameplay is polished. One of the best games of it's generation.

    Deus ex human revolution had me grinning ear to ear the whole way through. I loved the feeling of being a badass but at the same time while I was a killer cyborg with many different toys I still felt like a normal man who can be taken down by someone with a gun or a pack of punks. The gameplay design is great: yes, you have the choice to be a hacker, a fighter, a negotiator, etc., which is awesome, but they don't make all of the routes seem enjoyable.     Another example: the storyline. The ideas and themes here rival any science fiction literature or film that I've ever seen, but I found that I was slightly disappointed by the level to which they were developed. The story is good, but it could have been excellent.

    Even though the game has its weaknesses, I ended up enjoying this game far more than I had expected. I found the stealth to be very enjoyable, even though I've never liked stealth-based games before. I recommend this game to sci-fi buffs and hardcore gamers alike.    … Expand

Also should not people that love realistic future this is a must buy for those people.

    What matters is the game itself, and it's a treat for stealth fans, especially if you buy the Director's Cut with the extra missions. It also handles shooting well, and the upgrades to Adam's cybernetic form are good bait to ensure that you willingly stay in character and work as a good-guy detective. There are opportunities to think creatively and feel like you did the right thing, with a little extra planning and effort.

    At first I thought I'd just be following along with Adam's story, thinking it would be impossible to empathise with his rather unpleasant surface facets, but by the end I'd become a lot more invested in the outcome. It stayed with me for a long time afterwards, and I'll look forward to a sequel. Otherwise, I'll happily play DE:HR again one day.    … Expand

This filter forces my eyes to attempt to separate yellow (a color that on its own is harsh on the human eye) from a slightly different yellow, a very stressful and irritating process that makes the game unplayable for me. How this was never realized during testing and before release is beyond me.

    Even the mods that "fix" this problem do little more than make the harsh lighting white, not yellow. While white lighting is much less annoying than yellow is, attempting to seperate objects in the truly monochromatic environment (what is called "monochromatic" tends to have two colors, white and black, that contrast nicely and easily let you see objects, and greyscale even lets you make out detail in items)

    I STRONGLY recommend against paying for this game, or playing it even if you don't have to pay for it. The physical pain aspect means that I could not even accept playing it even if I were payed to do so. This game should NEVER have been released in the state it was, and to actually charge money to fix this problem, as the developers have done, is just disgusting.    … Expand

I don't like games because they're smooth and easy to get through, I like them because they're fun and interesting. When a game is genuinely fun and interesting, it doesn't have to be all that smooth and user-friendly just to get you to continue playing. That shouldn't be your main motivation or even your secondary or tertiary motivation, and it's certainly nothing for a game to be proud of. Navigating the maps was a pain in the ass as well with their multi freaking levels. The developer could have taken a clue from Dead Space with some way of pointing out the correct direction.     -Deus Ex: HR follows the story of Adam Jensen, the Head of Security at Sarif Industries, one of the biggest BioTechnology companies in the world. Oh, and did I mention it's set in the future? No? Well you can look forward to seeing the beautiful futuristic cities of Montreal, Detroit, Singapore and Hengsha (Shanghai to some) try to deal with the ever-growing issue of an increasing population whilst a group of conspiracists plots the fall of augmentation companies like Sarif Industries.

    -The unique RPG system allows the player to fine-tune Adam in order to suit your combat preferences. Do you prefer going in quite? Then upgrade Adam's cloak augmentation using Praxis Kits (pieces of software that can be bought, earned or found in game) or are you more of a fan of guerrilla warfare? So be it! Why not try using the Typhoon Explosive System augmentation, to say it can kill a few guards is being too kind.

    -Another great thing that the developers, Eidos Montreal, have taken into account is replayability, because Deus Ex missions feature very broad maps with numerous entrance and exit points it allows the player a lot of choice. Meaning, no two playthroughs are the same.

    Graphics: 8-10
    Jaw-dropping graphics for 2011. The yellowish-black colour scheme adds to the games adrenalin fuelled atmosphere.

    Creativity: 10/10
    As I said before, the game allows the player to tweak Adam to meet their demands as well as providing multiple options to complete each mission. Very few games I know do this.

    New user friendly: 7/10
    Don't really have an opinion on this but the game did make it hard for me during my first playthrough but all it takes is a but of clever thinking.

    Replayability: 10/10
    No two playthroughs are the same. Simple as that.

    Overall Score: 8.2/10
    An absolute masterpiece. One of my favourite games ever.

    You have a reasonable amount of freedom when it comes to conversations with NPC essential to the story line with some choices having major consequences on how you play out the mission making it enticing to play the game again and have things play out in a different way, which adds to awesome amount of freedom choice you already have with your play style(stealth assault or even a hybrid of the 2) and the freedom to choose the augmentations to suit your play style.
    Human revolution also has a really good plot even though at times it becomes unrealistic.
    Deus Ex: Human Revolution is an utterly enjoyable game regardless of the cons that i have mentioned as the freedom of choice presented in the game outweigh the cons and make it a total blast to play through    … Expand

    It's atmospheric as hell and provides that suspension of disbelief that is required for a game like this to work. I STILL say everyone should play DX1 THEN play this. If they’re so hardcore they can either not collect the upgrades (many of which are optional) or simply not apply them.

    Games like this make me wonder how & why people are still playing Metal Gear Solid. This has actual, real stealth-based gameplay and figuring out ways to knock out or kill people and hide their bodies is part of the fun. Controls are tight and movement is fluid, unlike in MGS games.     Theirs a few games that mid way through the first 4 hours of play will utterly dazzle you with solid gameplay and story. It even fools you into an almost sandbox feel, seeing the many ways of handling each mission.
    I hate stealth games, it broke me into wanting to play stealth. For the first time i enjoyed stealth.

    One of my favorite games, incredible characters, world and cyberpunk atmosphere of the dark future. The endings are brilliant, because each time you are not sure which one you'll have to choose. I have completed it twice and I'm not sure that it's over) I guess, I'm gonna get Director's Cut for better Deus Ex experience. And yeah, I fell in love to Adam Jensen :33

In these moments you'll be forced a lot into combat. (unless you reload your save file 50 times over till you ace it) Where it's 1 vs 5-15 with a real limited amount of ammo.

It has a bunch of minor issues as others pointed out, but the characters, the story telling and the multiple ways to solve problems are things rarely seen in any game ever. OTOH, if you like your story easy to grasp and your characters clear cut good or bad, this game is not for you.

    It might be possible to run-and-gun your way through DEHR but to do so would be to miss the point of the game. DEHR is all about stealth, hacking, persuasion, and cautious combat. The worst aspect of the game, however, is the inventory, which is bafflingly annoying: it rather pointlessly forces you to shuffle things around in order to fit all the items in. I really don’t see the point of this as it adds nothing to the game. There is also no real variation in the environments visited during the game; it’s basically one urban landscape after another. These may seem like minor criticisms but when combined they were enough to dampen my enjoyment a little. But having said all that DEHR does what it sets out to do so well that I can forgive it’s few flaws.    … Expand

The game rewards you for doing things stealthily, all though it is not required. Several ways to play, multiple weapons, to choose from. Upgrading weapons and your character are good features. I absolutely loved the first one and I even some what enjoyed the second, granted it was nowhere near the masterpiece the original was, I still found it enjoyable. However, Human Revolution, for me, is just plain boring and uninspired. The hacking aspect is annoying, weapons and abilities feel bland and uninspired and the voiceI didn't particularly care for this version of Deus Ex.     I am only halfway through the game at this point and it's become a chore to even boot it up, there have been times I've stared at the load/continue screen for a moment and say to myself..forget it and close the game and play something else...it's just boring and I have no excitement or desire to play most times. I am fortunate I only paid $7.50 for it on Steam, if I had paid $50+ I would have been really peeved.    … Expand

    Many ways you can play this as well as numerous side quests.

    The best game that allows to use different paths and skills to resolve a problem. An amazing story, excellent gameplay and cool cinematics. The side quests are very interesting, and the exploration of all the city allows to learn about the universe of Deus Ex. 100% Recommended!!!

    The mechanics where terrible!! It had the fluidity of bread dough going through a sif. The controls where ok, but the act and reactions of everything where horrible, including animations that seemed to have nothing to do with what was actually happening to that NPC.
    Performance issues! Your telling me that I can run Crysis perfectly but I should lag on this piece of crap that I won't even rank in the same decade of graphical quality?
    I'll admit the only part I'll give this game some points is that the story wasn't too bad, quite cool actually, but it didn't pull me in and make me feel invested in the characters like some other games in the past have.
    It felt too me too much like a failed attempt at copying other titles that did what they did much better... And i know the original Deus Ex predated all these games, but then it only means they haven caught up with the times.
    The stealthy and augmented capability fighting was way better in crysis.
    Oh and then you have the bugs.

    Finally a worthy successor to Deus Ex. Fantastic balance, amazing detail and realized world. Sad then that I can't give this a full 10 because the boss battles break the "free choice" system in the game forcing you to go for combat skills even if you would rather stealth and hack your way around.

Sometimes enemies get stuck in doors and sometimes they run around like complete buffoons. In addition, the boss fights are unnecessary and do not belong and often rely on saving and loading until you eventually do enough damage to kill them. This concept does not fit well with a game where choice is one of the most prevalent aspects. These pitfalls aside, Human Revolution is still a great game which presents you with many choices and ways to tackle a problem. A link between various genres is done successfully and as a result, an enthralling package is produced, despite the shortcomings.… Expand

    The most important aspect of this game, in my opinion, it's the atmosphere. It's immersive. You'll simply LOVE the wolrd around you. The logic of everyting and how social issues are portrayed in this futuristic wolrd are believable and quite realistic (we ARE talking about fiction, don't forget that)

    The second strongest point to be quoted abou this game, it's the story. It's filled with action and also reflection. You want to get there and get things done because you want to know how the story will develop. The side missions ain't that bad, you'll have fun playing a lot of them.

    The protagonist isn't the strongest point in my opinion, but you grow to like him.

    The graphics are beautiful.

    The gameplay... oh the gameplay. I was just surprised. I knew nothing about this game when I played it. I just went for it expecting an FPS. Well, most of the part is might seem like just an FPS, but it's actually much more than that. Using your skills in the right time, deciding if you are goin' to open fire or been stealthy makes a huge difference on the outcome and in how you feel the game.

    Well, simply put, it's a very fun story, with an original construction and is, above all, a very fun ride.

    But the current price you'll be finding this on Steam, you just SHOULD get it.    … Expand

    I like it, but it's got some REALLY annoying stuff in it. Like the fact that when an enemy spots you he immediately alerts everyone else annoying yes, but it is a brilliant game.

    So despite the odds being stacked against it, Eidos Montreal accomplished the impossible and brought us a Deus Ex in the true sense of the word, probably the best one that we could have hoped for considering the current "requirements" for being commercially successful nowadays.
