This game should not get a perfect score because of the cumbersome boss battles and flaky AI yet I think it deserves a 10 out of 10 for the fact that Deus Ex: Human Revolution excels at everything else it does. Long ago I played Deus Ex and was overwhelmed by the options and possibilities in the sci-fi rpg so rest assured I was happily back at home with DE:HR. Gameplay is king here. You know the gameplay is solid when you are evolving your play style as you go and the game encourages you along the way. Being stealthy in this game takes some getting used to (third person camera is weird at first) but you are never penalized for going on a killing spree. As the game progressed I stopped being a one man army and started learning how to move through the world without being noticed. I was rewarded for this with bonus experience points while the levels themselves were getting more challenging. What really sells this game is the rich story and characters that had obviously been well thought-out and combed over many times because simply, it is memorable and works. The main badass, Mr. Adam Jensen, is interesting enough and with his grizzly voice tumbles his way through the narrative but his boss David Sarif tends to surprise me a lot more with his own lines of dialogue and story-arc. I really love this game, and to attest to how captivated I was, I dropped playing halfway through Mass Effect 2 to finish this game. Expand

First game I have played in years that I can't put down. It's Deus Ex 1 all over again. All the dissenters on here can stick to playing CoD or some other arcade shooter as they seem to just not get this game. It's everything good about Deus Ex made better, including combat, stealth, and most importantly your choices really do feel like they make an impact on the story. My only complaints:
    1. Environments are way too static. It's 2011 and desk items aren't getting thrown around in a firefight? If I shoot a stack of paper it gets a bullet hole? The coffee cup is still on the table after a grenade went off? The environments the designers made are very well done, and highly explorable, but seriously, there should be more interaction. Cracks on the walls that you can blow up? Really? Is this Zelda or something?

    2. No battery recharge robots...I like how your augs don't last very long in this one, as well as the fact that its hard to take down more than 1 or 2 guys with the instant kill function. However a few more recharge stations here or there would make it more fun.

    3. Realistic mode is a bit unbalanced. I always played Deus Ex on Realistic. I liked how you and the enemies had the same health. This is not the case in HR; it still takes 5,7 sometimes 10 body shots to kill a guy. Granted a headshot is an instant kill, If I plug a guy in the chest, that should take him down too. I'm sure this could be fixed in a mod.

Everything else in the game is perfect!

I did like the graphics, those even on my almost new system with an upgraded video card, the game lagged and was choppy, making combat that much harder. The augmentation (customising) system was fun, allowing you to upgrade the character on the fly and make hard choices on what physical elements to perfect. The embedded weapons and armor where very cool, but separating the personal visual cloaking from acoustic stealth made it impossible to be truly sneaky. The dialogue cut scenes and persuasion system slowed the game down to an unbearable crawl. Some of the cooler looking weapons where useless, while some others where quite helpful (I won't spoil this for you, you have to figure it out like I did, in the heat of battle). The embedded weapons worked very well, but I did one time use the typhoon accidentally in a public place which cause some civilian causalities and it got the cops mad at me (oops). I think letting the player decide on the mission route and type of force (lethal or non-lethal) to use in order to complete a mission was one of the highlights of this game. The B-ee pilot (I forget her name), who fiys you to diffent loctions within the game, looked like a guy with two very small chest bumps. The story line was far from original, and the ending was so predictable. If you pre-ordered this game as I did, you get a bonus mission, which was too short but had a very cool reward. There was shops in the game where you can buy weapons and upgrades, but these places are hard to find. I found it impossible to sell things to them (game bug?). The game also had a good variety of opponent, both human and robotic, to fight, though towards the end they became repetitious. The computer hacking system was too easy, made even easier by auto hacking items. One thing I really didn't understand was the fact I had break into and shoot up an entire police precinct early in the game, after failing to talk my way in, and the cops just let this act of mass cop murder go. I should have been the most wanted man in history. I can only say the AI in this game leaves much to be desired. I would like to replay the game now that I understand how thing work in it, but the game lag, the bugs, the slowness of the dialog scenes and persuasion system keeps pushing me away from it. I had mixed felling about this game, but knowing about it as I do now, I would have saved my money and steered clear of it, it was too short a story anyway. Expand

Seems the graphics card manufacturer's paid off the developers here to make sure anyone with a directx 10 card needs to upgrade to actually play the game even though the upgrades between the two directx versions are minimal at best. You play Adam Jensen, a security specialist who is thrust into a war between rival corporations who develop mechanical body augmentations. This is a game with multiple endings, and multiple paths for every objective. I really enjoy games that give moral decisions to players, with differing outcomes. Music: The soundtrack for this game was very dark and visceral, and well put together. It reminded me of the score from TRON: Legacy, which is a good thing. Voice Work: The voice acting was nicely done. I'm not sure that Jensen's voice needed to be like he was whispering most of the time, but I was able to look past it. I am glad that they actually had many of the Chinese characters speak mandarin, and showed English subtitles when they spoke. It is attention to these details that make a quality product. Between that and the beautiful level design, especially Hengsha, I felt very immersed. which brings me to Graphics: This is a game that is easy on the eyes and on the video card. Think Blade Runner dipped in gold. The clothing that the characters wore was very stylized to be a mixture of futuristic and renaissance. I think the developers pulled it off perfectly. Adam's apartment is gorgeous, while watching his blinds open and reveal the city of Detroit below. The technology featured in the game was also very impressive, and came off as believable, especially when you read all of the in-game e-Books that you find, where they describe how the augmentations work. The weaponry came in light, medium, and heavy, for all different styles of shooters, as well as lethal and non-lethal. The hacking mini-game was fun at first, but later started to become a chore, especially after all the hacking upgrades, you knew you were going to win every time. Overall, a wonderful edition to the Deus Ex Universe, and a triumphant game. Congratulations Eidos Montreal. You nailed it! Expand

I am having a lot of fun with this game. It admittedly has some flaws (stuttering framerate on a decent PC, janky AI, and boring weapon selection), but the gameplay makes up for it. It's a blast trying to get in and out of an enemy base without being seen, or trying not to kill anybody. I think it keeps the feel of deus ex. If this game sounds fun to you, give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

While this game keeps the standards of original title it also ads a few more. Many may say that the graphics are outdated, but I have to say that this game has a style, a style that will take your breath once you are outside Sarif Industries in Detroit or in Shanghai. The gold style of this game is amusing. Since Deus Ex already had the "multiple paths" option, this game leads it to perfection. You can choose if you go unnoticed or go rambo stlye and kill everything that moves. Do not like talking? Ok then do not persuade people to let you in but shoot yourself through. This game offers so many options of gameplay that you might think at some point: what genre is this? To be precise, it is stealth-action-drama-fps-rpg with a lot of choices. This game is genre defining title and it is so immersive that you do not know how and the 25 to 30 hours you spent in the game are long gone. And yet you replay because the second walkthrough, with different choices is a different game :). GOTY Candidate baby! Expand

Boss fights are a bit crappy as they don't fit in with the stealth gameplay. Graphically... well for DX11 I would expect far higher levels of texturing and models, but in places it shows up some dire examples compared to main characters renders, which usually look pretty throughout. The bio mods are quite good and seem to fit in well, the array of weapons is a bit naff but you don't really need more than a couple to get through 99% of the game, the worst weapons are certainly the experimental PEP gun and Sniper rifle... which border on useless because the PEP is less effective than the stun pistol and takes up far more space and less availalbe ammo, and the sniper rifle is completely out of place in a game with small confined levels. There's a few gameplay glitches regarding the cover system which can get on your nerves... the main one being that you can not blind shoot if the enemy is practically side on even though you can aim at them directly...stupid!!!!

Overall the story is good, although levels are smaller than original games they do feel true to the series, graphics while limited by console porting have been slightly improved with Dx11 effects and should run with very high frame rates even on a modest PC.

I give this 90%, would have scored higher if designed for PC first then stripped down to fit on consoles.

It's like somebody couldn't put down their yellow crayons. The score is fantastic! My only complaints with the game are mostly nitpicks. The framerate stutters once in awhile and the control scheme takes some getting used to if you have played a lot of triple-A shooters like Halo, Battlefield, and Call of Duty. My only real complaint is the map/waypoint system. It's downright hard to navigate and comprehend, and to date I have not found a way to even set a waypoint. I feel like this game would have really benefited from a guide like you have in the superb Dead Space games. These gripes aside, overall Deus Ex is an outstanding gaming experience with an extremely well written story loaded with conspiracies and multiple plot twists and turns. It's a blast getting to play with all the different types of weapons, gadgets, and augmentations at your disposal. This is hands down my sleeper hit of the summer and will easily keep my occupied until late September when the first of the fall/holiday blockbusters start rolling in. If you have the cash, this game is WELL worth it. It's easily a 50 hour or more experience if you do the side missions and really explore the environment. If you are the type who likes to see all the endings this game can have, then you more than get your money's worth! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. PC gamers must get used to this fact: many of the big studio releases for their (and my) favoured medium are being principally developed on consoles, with console gamers in mind. Most of the attacks on this game acknowledge that fact, but resent it. There is a perception that a PC game should mean complexity and depth, whereas a console game should be accessible and shallow. Whatever the truth of these perceptions, Deus Ex: Human Revolutions is a game which has been developed for a console which stands up happily on the PC and is one of the more enjoyable PC games of this year. It is billed as an RPG-shooter. The RPG elements are located as sensibly as any leveling up system can possibly be inside the story. Jensen, following his operation, has all his augmentations intact, but he's brought out of recovery early. His body and nervous system aren't used to their newfound, mechanically-enhanced talents. Therefore, he needs Praxis software - earned through the accumulation of experience, i.e. use of his new body, to unlock the higher level abilities. Well, it's a stretch, but it's a brave attempt by the game's writers to impose a story on the notion of levelling up, something which RPG enthusiasts have taken for granted since the first tentative forays of pen-and-paper, kitchen table games onto the home computer in the eighties. Personally, I approve. Speaking of the difference between pen-and-paper, kitchen table RPGs and their electronic successors, DE:HR offers the player a decent amount of choice for the type of game it is. A pen-and-paper session over pizzas and beer is limited only by the rules of the game and the tolerance of one's fellow gamers. Not so on a computer game. All choices must be limited by necessity. The story of DE:HR implies that the action happens within the space of a few days; by necessity, it is tightly plotted. But within that, there are multiple ways to execute each mission. There are different physical routes to each objective. There are a good range of weapons to support a given player style and a sensible, intuitive inventory system. There are approaches ranging from a Terminator-style shoot-out in a Detroit nick, through persuading your way in, to sneaking in undetected. Yes, of course real people don't really patrol like DE:HR's guards do, but we are somewhat limited by the technology available to us in 2012 and no game has yet achieved a perfect patrolman. DE:HR's guards move naturally enough to keep up the illusion of reality, and even chat to each other on occasion.

it No 21st-century shooter would be complete without a cover mechanic, but it works nicely within the confines of the game. The game awards points for merciful take-downs over straightforward kills; and awards end-of-level points for remaining undetected, in order to encourage different styles of play. On the topic of rewarding, the dialogue system invites comparisons with Bioware's and tops it without question. The dialogue options accurately foreshadow both the temperament and content of Jensen's potential answers, unlike Bioware's wretched wheel. Rather than a straight choice between flippant, aggressive and passive, one must watch the tone and personality of the NPC to get the best out of the conversation. With the right augmentation, one can release pheromones to increase diaglogue options. It's just a shame that more conversations don't follow this path: a goodly number are, in essence, cuscenes, which is somewhat frustrating, given the potential shown in the interactive dialogues.

Of course, it's not all roses. Entertaining as the manual takedown animations are, they don't always gel with the preceding action and the dissonance can grate. There are four mandatory boss-fights in the game, which are an unwelcome encumbrance (and a nod to DE:HR's console roots!) and force even the sneakiest of players to play, temporarily, in an aggressive style (vive le Typhoon). Also unwieldy, in a narrative sense, are the sidequests: enjoyable as they are, they do feel forcibly levered into the time-conscious plot. Finally, the corporate-espionage-with-a-moral-dimension plot all takes a turn for the Dan Brown towards the end, invoking ancient conspiracies and giant machines we've all seen a hundred times in other games, books and films, which is something of a let down. The ending montages, particularly, are annoyingly bland and a good deal of loose ends are not tied up (DLC, anyone?)

But on the whole, DE:HR is a good game. The plot is on a par with any B-movie or airport thriller novel; the action's decent; there is enough freedom of choice to keep most RPG fans satisfied (if one recognises that this is not trying to be D&D on your PC); the dialogue system is a real hit; and the game has a sense of humour (Robocop fans will encounter a policeman named Murphy without a sense of dramatic irony; Megadeth fans a certain hangar...). Give it a go.

Its almost a mass effect way of dialogue with other people but that is a good thing. Good graphics (PC Version Obviously).

Lot of respect to him and that game mostly because of the characters, story, conspiracies etc. I disregarded the second one because it didn't really deliver the goods, despite that awesome level meeting JC again. Jumping to now and seeing this game I am surprised they even slapped the Deus Ex name brand on the box. First the art design is strange, while cool in a blade runner style, it doesn't seem to fit the universe. For a prequel I don't remember the original being set in this fancy world. Guess we gotta appeal to the newer fans, which brings me to the terrible story which didn't hold my interest one bit. Lame voice acting (why not get Tom Hall back for goodness sake), boring level design, same run of the mill stealth and first person modes, and finally the horrible hacking crap. I wanna play THE game not a game within a blinking game. Only thing it has got going for it is this weird aug varied world, but it sure as heck doesn't deserve the name Deus Ex.. its got little to do with the original, no interesting enemies (what happened to the robot guys and the creatures from the conspiracy labs?), only 2 hubs, and crappy weapons. I gave it a 4 mostly because it is a semi-good time wasting game if your new to the series but really it has nothing to do with the original which is why I gave it such a low score. Shame on the developers taking this approach to an original universe, guess we gotta live with it. Back to playing the original game for me. oh yeah don't pay 60 dollars for it. The way the story's told is good, slowly unfolds like any good RPGs, however, that's about all the good thing I can say about this game. Graphics: Very outdated, especially for a PC game, this looks to be at least 5 years old if that.

Gameplay: I'm somewhat confused about the genre of this game, while it is meant to be an RPG, I fail to see the point of upgrading my character, anyone who's been playing for any FPS for longer than 5 years should be able to get through the game without any upgrades, the NPCs are extremely dumb, they have the field of vision of someone who's glued two toilet rows to their eye socket, you can literally walk straight pass someone's side and they wouldn't know, apparently in the future, peripheral vision doesn't exist in human anymore. It's very easy to take out 4 guys in a room without alerting any of them, their predictable, and unrealistic path means you probably don't even have to, and should you wish to knock them out, all it takes is a press of a button. The take-down action looks like a bad mixture between Assassin's Creed and some 80s action flick, extremely exaggerated sound effects, and perhaps most importantly, not one bit stealthy. Look at Metal Gear Solid 4, look how they've approached close quarter combat, they have shown that not only they have done research, they also don't treat their audiences like idiots. Speaking of patrionising, what's up with random human sized vents that lead to exactly what you need every single time? Were the architects of every building in the world part of Sarif and could see into the future, putting vents at exactly where Jensen needs every single time? Conclusion: This is a stealth game where all environment are almost always perfectly lite, bodies can't be hidden, and lights can't be turned off. It's an RPG game where upgrading your character is purely for jokes as oppose to a necessity to beat the game, enemies take no effort to beat, and are so stupid chances are you just walk straight pass them and they wouldn't care. This game strangely reminds me of Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines, except that'd be a compliment this game doesn't deserve one bit, it's like Vampire, without the dynamic story, or the likable characters, or the ability to influence your relationship with the said characters.

I've seen everything Human Revolution has to offer in other games--it's just a combination of all those offerings, except none of them are particularly all that well conceived. Let it be known that I'm a big fan of the original Deus Ex, and even played through the lowly Invisible War twice. I'm a sucker for games that allow choice, but this game just didn't grab me. Between the dated overly-gold visuals, long and frequent load times, hit-or-miss voice acting, uninspired weapons and augmentations, zero NPC dynamics, tiny confined areas, and the predictable choices that mostly boil down to "Would you like to shoot your way through the front, or take a vent that's probably around the back behind a box that's highlighted for you?" I couldn't force myself through this game. Surely we've come far enough in 11 years to allow more side entrance options than vents? Human Revolution is certainly Deus Ex for the new generation--but as a veteran PC gamer I feel like it's been dumbed down and streamlined for the masses; sort of like Invisible War only much slower paced and generally more annoying.

Everything of importance is highlighted for you, so you can pretty much just go on autopilot through the environments. The hacking mini-game isn't difficult at all, and it made me wish I could just use a multitool instead and bypass the thing. Pretty much all of the weapons handle easily as soon as you get them, so there's not much incentive to put points into your combat augmentations. Passwords you obtain are slapped on the screen when you hack something, so you don't actually have to read or memorize anything. When you get shot, your health automatically regenerates instead of having to heal separate parts of your body and repair specific injuries that hinder your performance. Ragdoll physics go absolutely bonkers when using the crossbow. I could go on, and on.

Deus Ex was a revolution in gameplay when it was released back in 2000. 11 years later, we get a flashier game that doesn't really do anything new, and in fact goes back a few steps. Those who give this game a 10 really should replay the original Deus Ex and see just how much more atmospheric, expansive, fast-paced, and smarter it is. It's unfortunate that new graphics so often cloud our judgment, but I think that's exactly what's going on here.

The characters feel very intreresting from the moment you see them, but unfortunately many dont really develop thoughout the game. You get to know them only on the surface. Some immediately seem very interesting but are only statists after all. This feels unsatisfying and I would have liked to know more about them.

Also, I didnt like the story so much. Although the setting is fascinating, the embedded story feels thin and the pacing is awkward. It doesnt do justice to the great atmotphere of the game. I would have liked more different quests to connect more to the world.
And while the cities are incredibly well done and rich in detail. The other areas feel a bit bland and monotonous in comparison.

Don't get me wrong this game starts out spectacular and it feels as though you have a ton of options and ways to achieve how you would like to play. HR also gives a great depth in story and really foreshadows a lot of coming events that will play their course. After a little under half way through the game though and for others it could be sooner the game really starts to fall short. Limited usage of Praxis points, difficulty, voice acting, choices not mattering at all, and feeling that you already know what is going to happen actually happens are the big issues for me. Why do I say there are limited uses for the talent system in the game? For one hacking is everything and if you don't pick it up you will be playing a regular shooter. After picking up hacking their is only some niche abilities that you can pick up and they really don't alter your gameplay much if any. Picking up the ability to lift any object will do you the same good as being able to punch through walls. It's like you pick up one of them you don't need to pick up the others because one size fits all. After receiving ~15 points you won't even need to place anymore in your setup because you don't need them. This leads into the difficulty which I played on the hardest. If you choose to go the stealth route you will find that this game is easier than hell. Simply wait until your energy is at full walk to the person you intend to knock out and , don't worry about them seeing you because apparently soldiers don't have peripheral vision, and success. If you do intend to play this game on it's hardest settings you have to deal with an outdated cover system that is dreadfully boring. Granted it is a lot harder than stealthing but since when is poking out of a wall to fire a round in the head and hiding again fun? Normally I don't care about voice acting and everyone in the game was very well voiced in my opinion except for the one that matters. Adding on to his douchey apparel Jensen is the uberdouche of video games and it will be hard to dethrone the man. On another note the choices in this game don't matter at all. When it comes down to the ending you choose what you wish and it plays a cut-scene. That sure was fun when it was done oh I don't know ~10 years ago? Even when you wanted to be the dick or the good guy other little nuances would be added in so your choices actually meant something. Hell I even did something I knew would end up being terrible for me but did it affect me in any way? Nope, they had a cut-scene for that to make all my blatant stupidity just go away. Which brings us to how bad the story was, not only did you know what was going to happen half way through the game there were no surprises or twists. It was like, "Look at our visuals aren't they pretty? Oh and don't worry about the story we have more visuals for you!." The game was written like a bad Hollywood movie where you know what is going to happen from the foreshadowing that they do at the start. Getting past all of that, the game lasted me ~30 hours and from what I am thinking there is no replay ability. 45 dollars for that much of a game is just not worth it in my book and I am glad I played a friends copy and did not waste the money on it. I really want to give this game a 4/10 just because of the douche voice but I suppose a 5/10. Expand

The game plays more like an immersive sim than a game geared towards relying on a new mechanic. Every level has different ways to approach it. Very fun for "explorers" like me. It's nice to explore and find the best path.
Graphics are GREAT even without directx 11 compatibility and not too heavy. It worked great on my 3 years old PC (it was quite good hardware when bought but still, it's 3 years old). Lights are well used, maps are multi-level mazes fun to explore if you want to see and find everything.
Sound is good and music is good (tho a little to similar to Mass Effect soundtrack IMHO).
Oh... and hacking minigames are actually FUN! First time ever I find good minigames that don't get boring after 2 times. I actually enjoyed hacking around especially when I got some hacking augmentations.
    What's bad?
I may agree with those who say AI could be better. It's too easy to elude/evade guards and when alerted they are still to easy to beat. But it's also true that if AI was better and things were more difficult it would probably get frustrating. This way you feel "professional" and in control instead of a scared crying child.

But besides my misconceptions of what I wanted DEHR to be, there were many additions that really boosted the game. **Pros** The game play in DEHR is well done, with the cover-move system benefiting the stealth side of the game as well as the offensive aspect. City hubs and specific mission levels are well crafted and populated to provide both an immersive experience and thought provocative game play, yet certain areas can be quite linear. The size of the city hubs is both a pro and a con; city hubs are well laid out and have a continuous theme, yet there is few side quests for you to find or stumble across which are not fed to you by key characters. Conversations were a nice treat as your choices and its affects seemed to adhere properly to the emotion and tensions of the current situation, even without the social augmentation. **Cons** DEHR's story telling suffers from a tasteless integration of CGI cinematic cut scenes that differ from the game engine greatly, breaking the immersion as the story flips between the two with no smooth transition as opposed to Mass Effect or CoD cut scenes which perform flawlessly. And to add to the sorrow of DEHR's story telling, the facial animations of characters in game lacked feeling and emotion, while also seeming to be mouthing something entirely different from the dialog. Also the story seemed vague on certain details and somewhat copy-paste feel with little uniqueness applied, giving the player the feeling of playing the same story before in another game. The score could have been a little more emotionally packed while the audio engineering was wacky at times, having reverb or varying sound effects applied or lost in character dialog during conversations. **Overall** I give DEHR 7/10 because Square Enix delievered a solid prequel to Deus Ex, but I wish more time would have been spent polishing certain areas as storytelling and facial animation during conversations. Most of it doesnt seem reasonable and there are some holes left behind. Expand

Pros: - Deep story with various options. - Smart enough AI. (not perfect though) - Great replay value.

Cons: - The dynamic light and shadow effects is not great. Many light sources in the game doesn't cast shadows. - The lip syncing in this game is bad. - The cut scene transition is not as smooth as the original game.

Personally, I absolutely liked the overall feeling and mechanics of the game. It is definitely worthy of the Deus Ex label, and I would even consider nominating it as my personal game of the year.

My first complete playthrough has clocked 32 hours according to Steam (and by no means was I fully exploring everything possible) and I certainly feel my money has been well spent as opposed to the frequent 6 hour FPS rehashes released. First and foremost, the style and artwork in the game is simply breathtaking. There were times when I would simply stare out into the beautiful vistas they have created in this game in awe. The only other game I can recall with such exemplary scenery in recent years is Mirror's Edge, and i couldn't help but feel inspired. The overall atmosphere is similarly superlative with Michael McCann's brilliant score which fits the cyberpunk theme perfectly, though I will say it is not a patch on the great music from the first Deus Ex. The pacing in 'Human Revolution' is also impressive; just when I wanted more story, I was given the next twist in the tale; just when I wanted more combat, fifteen enemies burst into the room warranting a quick decision over how they could be dispatched. There were several instances where I felt I was actually required to use my brain as opposed to many other games as of late in considering just how I would deal with enemies in the easiest way. Similarly, I felt the inventory system was an apt inclusion, forcing you to consider exactly what equipment you would likely need for the next encounter. The 'persuasion' conversations throughout the game also required me to take a step back and consider just which response would convince a character to see things my way, and felt like I was actually having an impact on the game world. There are multiple paths to achieve each objective, and there is usually an alternative route to avoid any danger. Because of this I had alot of fun exploring the city hubs in the game, as much fun as I did exploring Hong Kong in Deus Ex 1. You can pay a hobo 1000 credits for information on an armoury code, only to find it later after hacking into someone's email, thus exploration is definitely encouraged. Mentioning graphics, I was playing on maximum settings with a GTX 570 and the framerate was consistently high (It also played well in DX9 on a 4870 and a Core 2 Duo). However, the game did crash far more frequently than I would have liked, especially during the 2nd city hub, though i'm sure this will be fixed in a future patch. The textures were impressive on maximum settings, though the character models looked quite plasticy. One minor irritation is that the animations of the characters' faces seem to 'twitch' and it's very distracting (and unrealistic). Other minor niggles are the console-ish feel of the mouse scrolling which is far worse in Invisible War, but not present on FPS games that are made primarily for the PC. The enemy AI is definitely not the best, though I can't think of any games where it's noticeably improved. Enemies would sometimes spot me from the other side of a large room, despite being crouched behind an object, and other times you can takeout an enemy right in front of another without them batting an eyelid. The major disappointment for me, however (and the reason I won't give the game a 10) was the endings (though the REAL ending did atone for this slightly). I would much have preferred an insight into what effect my choice had on the world in the immediate future, and I was severely disappointed that this was not included. Regardless of this flaw, this is by far the best game I have played this year, and unless anything is subsequently released which is notably better (which I sincerely doubt as it would have to be an OUTSTANDING game), this will be my GOTY. Big fan of the original. This is great, immersive, every aspect is top notch, including the dialogue, combat, cover system, stary etc etc. There are weaknesses in any game, just depends on whether they detract from the overall experience. They certainly don't here

I have to agree with the negative remarks about this being an obvious console port too, the controls and cover system make no sense on a PC, cover systems like this simply don't belong on PC, they slow down the game play to the point of disinterest. This is a nice looking game don't get me wrong but not great (it doesn't even come close to other titles released this year or even two years ago for that matter), as a matter of fact there are several games I can safely say that look better than this and they are much older (IMO). I'd say if you are expecting the emotion and engrossment that you got with the original be very prepared to be sorely disappointed, this game does not do the original justice, not even close. Expand

Human Revolution has interesting combat, and an interesting plotline. However the ending has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the series, and the AI is broken beyond all belief. Upon completing the game I felt highly unsatisfied. It felt rushed, and after working extremely hard to finish the game, it felt like a giant slap in the face from the developers. This is in no way even close to what the original Deus Ex was. It was a good game, but when putting it up next to the original's storyline, gameplay, and all around feel/message Human Revolution is just a recycled version of Deus Ex to fit the needs of anyone with little to no attention span, no interest in plotline, and don't care much for stealth based titles. Although I disliked this game for not being similar to the original, it is definitely a game for the "CoD" generation. That's for sure...

The gameplay is fun and reminiscent of the two previous Deus Ex titles, with several possible approaches to each task or challenge, as promised. However, it has several weak spots that hold it back from being the truly immersive experience I think Eidos was aiming for, disqualify it from an 8 or 9 score, and prevent it from rising to the greatness of other action-oriented RPGs such as Mass Effect, Bioshock or Fallout New Vegas, or character-driven action games like GTA IV. The first is the stiff facial animation, which look much the same as they did in Deus Ex: Invisible War back in 2003. Faces are frozen and unexpressive, and lip movement bears almost no relation to speech, even on a very high-spec PC. The botched facial animation greatly diminishes the otherwise excellent character, weapon and environment rendering, which really shines with DirectX 11 tessellation support. The second flaw is dialog, both as it is written and spoken. As in all story-driven games, the dialog in DE:HR must carry some of the burden of plot exposition, and this will inevitably lead to some stiff-sounding, didactic statements. But this game's dialog is weighted too much on the expository side, at the expense of creating empathy or identification with the characters. NPCs baldly state facts that the main character (Adam Jensen) should already know, and Jensen himself is too much given to bland expository statements. Those lines of dialog designed to show character or develop relationships between characters are filled with action-movie or TV clichés. Other games in futuristic settings, such as the underrated Enslaved, created empathy for characters with far less dialog. Others, such as Bisoshock and Portal 1 & 2, let the environment carry part of the expository burden â Expand

The gameplay is all over the place, the AI is absurd, the animated art is tatty and actual interactivity (and forget "story interativity") is very weak, almost non-existent. I don't understand all the hype and craziness. This is no LGS legacy game, much less one of Ion Storm. It's a mainstream disappointment.

The storyline is great, the graphics lovely, the hacking mini-game is very Shadowrun/Cyberpunk and while a little repetitive as you do a LOT of hacking (well I did, YMMV) it's probably the best implementation I've seen in a PC game yet - it is, in short a worthy successor to Deus Ex.

There are only 2 minor niggles I had with the game. Firstly, I've been playing a lot of Brink and InFamous recently and not being able to do something simple like jump up and grab onto a ledge to pull yourself up seems really retrograde, you've got cyber-arms for fricks sake, you should be able to pull yourself up walls if needs be - this can be largely offset with leg and back enhancements but still (the Icarus Landing System is _very_ InFamous).

The other is boss fights... *sighs* again. The Witcher 2 did them worse but not by much - once again it's a matter of drop you into an inescapable room and fight it out. The short, simple and quick solution is lob an EMP grenade at the bad guy which will stun them, then empty a clip of combat rifle ammo, frag grenade (which stuns them again) another clip and another frag grenade... they're a bit rubbish; just make sure you've got plenty of grenades and all 3 "standard" boss fights are little more than a short, tedious distraction from the game. I didn't mind the end-of-game boss though; *shrugs* it was alright - no Crying Wolf from MGS4 but alright.

So that's it, maybe 30 minutes of minor niggles in over 50 hours of gameplay (I like to explore) with a storyline that'll suck you in like a really good book - I'd give it a 95 which means it's closer to a 10 than a 9 anyway.

I remember when I played the first Deus Ex there was something magical about it, which I quite don't recall, but I hold the feeling deep inside to this day. I was pretty excited when I saw the trailer to Human Revolution - it had that gritty dark ambient future feeling in it, technology and mankind mixing together and the troubles along with it you could craft a nice solid story around it. Now playing the game all that really creates any atmosphere are the colours and maybe the music. Everything else is bland.

Also the reason why I chose to create this account was because I noticed something weird. And surely it is no big discovery, but most of the people commenting on the game have one comment and below most of them lies "11 of 13 users said yes". So the marketing team are fully at it, tampering with the user score to cover up the lameness of the game. Sad really. And that's the reason I gave it a 1, to get closer to the truth that the game is average and worth 6 points at best.

Game will take between 20 to 50 hours depending on difficulty and weather or not you will want to collect all the collectibles and do side missions.

There is nothing good at all in this game. The AI is the single worst I have ever seen. The graphics (despite DX11) are very bad with overly simplistic environments made up of the same prop copied over and over. Likewise the sounds are repetitive and enemies will get on your nerves repeating the same thing over and over again. Character models look at least 4 years old, to compare I went to Half Life 2 which is 6 years old, about the same. The story is so full of unbelievable stupid downright thoughtless missteps and pitfalls its more of a parody of something, tho what I have no idea. It will have you doing things like covering for employees stealing from your company, though you are the security chief and as far as you know the company saved your life. Later you will be asked to collect debts and steal things, none of which have anything to do with....anything. Your actions have ZERO impact on the story or outcome. To be sure of this I started a second play through and murdered everyone in Detroit, except quest givers, but I did murder quest objectives before I had received their quests. No change in anyone's behavior, guy A tells me to "take care of" guy B and so on. I even killed all the cops in the station which didn't seem to bother any cops outside, or even on a different floor of the station while I was doing it. There are no consequences for any of your actions unless maybe you kill a quest giver before you finish his quest. On the hardest difficulty the game is pathetically easy because the dumb AI will all stand in a row for you waiting to get shot. Out of ammo? No problem, just duck behind a corner or box for about 5 mins and they will forget about you. Also the freedom and open gameplay which is so prominently advertised is nonexistent. Your choice is to get from point A to goal B by either crawling through vents (and for a 40 hour game, do you want to stare at the insides of duct work for that long?) or by shooting your way there. It's as linear as linear gets, the goals never change, the order never changes and once you are done with an area it's done, there is no going back to explore more. I am genuinely dumbfounded that anyone likes this game and is willing to look past its multiple and glaring short comings. If you enjoy good graphics, a solid story that makes sense, intelligent enemies and challenging gameplay look elsewhere. Expand

The level designs and their respective aesthetics are not exactly consistent with the Deus Ex franchise, but are nice. Unfortunately, Human Revolution is let down by the story, which feels watered down and all over the place. In fact, from a narrative perspective, it is an utter mess. I did not empathise with ANY of the parties involved and was left feeling that the whole game was soulless. I was pleased to hear about the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution (HR)- which is the first of a series of three upcoming Deus Ex games in the franchise. Many in the PC community had doubts about whether it would be developed as the original - for PC (windows) then ported out to the consoles, and as it turned out: we were right to have those doubts. HR is a polished linear FPS trying to be everything at once. Trying to be like Gears of War - much of the game scenario's are built of the ability to hide or crouch behind cover. Trying to be like Mass Effect, with a lot of dialogue and story. Trying to be like the original game, with a futuristic avatar newly augmented with upgrading weapons and augmentation tech tree's. All good developments in gaming, and yet the game does *not* even come close to excellent gameplay. Trying to be everything at once is an underwhelming feeling in the game, and takes away it's original flare. The story is also very predictable. Now those aspects are important but they aren't the real reason why I dislike this game. They alone make this game no better than a 7/10 - at best. But the reason I rate this one low, is for PC gaming related issues. This one is important to PC users. The original Deus Ex game is one of the mecca's of the FPS genre. It was a huge step in all the right directions when it came out and re-defined what a computer game and be and do. Many people went out and bought PC's after playing the original game, myself included. Now as a PC gamer we can tell - immediately - that the whole UI and key mappings systems (controls) - were developed by a console gamer, for a console gamer, then ported to the PC. In short - they don't work. The game play is a constant battle (much like other games brought out by this developer like AC and AC2), having to constantly force yourself to learn the cover mechanic is a huge step away from traditional FPS gameplay and I don't like it one bit. It feels like an arcade game, not a deep experience.

Anyone who has played Half Life (by Valve) knows what I'm talking about. That game is a deep experience. So was the original Deus Ex. Now we have a console rip off with bad UI, poor controls, trying to be everything at once - and it's just, well, boring to play.

This game already has a *huge* fanbase and following. Many of us spent out $45 expecting big things, I for one will not be making that mistake twice.

    I rate it a 6.5/10.

The one thing it has going for it is a wide range of play styles, unfortunately none of them are that exciting. The stealth system is mostly limited to hacking doors and using augmentation powers to open up new routes that just bypass most of the combat aspects. At first this is a satisfying enough experience, but if you start to get good at stealth and spend most of your XP points in stealth aspects you can literally walk straight through hostile environments with no consequences. If that isn't very appealing you can just shoot everything, which again at the start can be a fun challenge because its actually pretty difficult going this route. But later on with upgrades and augmentations combat is blatantly easy as well. There are various other paths you can occasionally pick to accomplish quests like persuasion and just using special augments to explore, though both of these are pretty dull. In fact, most of the aspects that are normally associated with similar RPG games like character development, interaction and a reactive environment are simply not present in this game. The only semblance of progress you have in development is your augmentation tree, which offers a lot of variety but it becomes pretty clear early on which routes are the easiest. Story-wise your character doesn't really change no matter what you do, and this bleeds over into the often static environment of city hubs. As stated in other reviews you can literally do anything with no long term consequences which takes a huge hit into the immersion this game could offer. The only reason much of the story in this game is interesting is because it offers an intriguing "what if" science fiction scenario for the future, but I find it so hard to take seriously because I can go around breaking and entering, killing civilians and cops, and in general doing whatever I want with no issues. If you get tired of massacring city hubs you simply hide and wait out your aggression timer. Overall an average FPS/RPG mix with a weak execution and poor re-playability. Expand

The 'enhancements' for PC are gimmicks, because they're just thrown in for the bling-bling value of DX11.

Overall extremely disappointed with the end result, and the gameplay can go jump as far as I'm concerned.

Great game. It definitely keeps up with the original from 10 years ago. The atmosphere of the game is absolutely amazing! And that's what define DX. It was an awesome accomplish with a lot nice details, but It's the atmosphere what it makes it highly addicting!! Minor flaws here and there DO NOT spoil the fun. Just get into it and Enjoy!

This game is such a revolutionary piece of work. It is just as good as the first Deus Ex. There is so much to do and plenty of angles to approach missions from. This is well worth the money I spent and I will recommend it to anyone!

I wanted to give this a 10, because I really like this game, ALOT. There are a few problems though. I don't want to spend 5-10min running around finding an entrance, that is annoyance, not good gameplay, especially when there SHOULD be a much more approachable entrance.

2nd, I have setup my vista os to allow for maximum performance in games. In The Witcher 2 (arguably prettier than Deus Ex) I am getting 30+ FPS (everything except for ubersampling on max) and no weird or occassional drops in fps for no apparent reason. Granted I have nVidia and TW2 loves nVidia, DEHR loves ATI, I also know that engines work differently. But with the way I setup my OS and the fact that my gfx card is running at 40-70% (almost never touching 90%), and I still get choppy framerates is infuriating, that should not be happening.
It should be said, the drop in framerates and the choppy framerates happens nomatter what graphics settings I use. Max, medium, low, custom, tesselation on/off, etc. So I assume that this is something that will be fixed with a driver from nVidia or a patch from eidos. If it does get fixed, then the real score should be 9/10 for this game imo.

Other than that; I love the atmosphere, I love the game world (except for the problem stated previously), I love the VA, the combat is good (AI could be better, but that goes for almost all games), the graphics ARE pretty and I really love the art style. So, some people may find the two points I pointed out to be very minor things, to me they can make me shut down the game for a time and therefore ruin the gaming experience.

As for the gameplay, if you're a die-hard fan of the first Deus Ex, you're gonna like HR, too. It's very close to the first game and far away from the second one. (Which, we all agree, sucked.)
I like the story, too. I was always a fan of cyberpunk things and conspiracy themed stories. In between it may seem a little dull, but it's entertaining nonetheless.

It's the same options, though severely polished. What pissed me off a lot, was the fact they kept the same, tedious side quests that involved an insane amount of backtracking and collecting/hacking. Voice acting is well done, though not all of the time. Graphically, it's practically flawless. It's not state of the art GFX, but that is of little importance. Personally, i love the designs of the augmentations. Everything else is surprisingly mediocre. Let me sum this up in a sentence. The game is OK. Do I think it was one of those titles that you immediately go out and buy and give in to the hype? When the game first starts off its pretty engaging and you start getting into it a little, thinking "Wow this is gonna be awesome.' The storyline and cutscenes are interesting and easy to follow. The soundtrack is by far one of my favorite things in the game, the music fits the world of Deus-Ex perfectly and it sounds great. But come to find out the bottom line is its just another cookie cutter stealth game tailored to the console market. Graphics, while still pleasing, are pretty dated (which just further backs up the fact that it is a console game). But graphics are not why I bought this game. Having played the first one years ago I expected a lot of the RPG/FPS hybrid elements from that game to have been revived or have evolved in this game. Sadly the character development is very disappointing. It is missing a lot of the RPG elements that made the first one so great. The storyline is OK but isnt enough to make up for the dumbing down of the character development. The game progresses nicely, however it feels too linear, and the environments are wayyyy too cramped. The cover system is nice but unfortunately you are pretty much forced to use it if you choose not to ninja your way through every objective, which makes for a pretty repetitive combat experience. Once you level up your typhoon, stealth, and icarus landing system it does offer you the option of some interesting combos that looks pretty neat but your power runs out so quickly its hard to execute them quickly enough. I have so far made it to the second city, but I can already tell this game does not come anywhere near to giving the series any justice. Nothing innovative or groundbreaking here, like I said just another flashy futuristic cookie cutter stealth game tailored toward an inferior console market with dumbed down game mechanics for the more "casual" players. Not what I expected from a Deus Ex title. Although judging from the last one, that seems to be where they are heading. After a week of playing through every day for a few hours or so Im already starting to get bored with it. Expand

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is superb. The story has a nice arch with a (foreseeable, albeit) dramatic climax. At first, I really didn't like Jensen's (that's the main character, btw) voice but the gruffness eventually began to fit his heartless, professional persona. Gameplay wise, the cover system is almost exactly like that of Mass Effect's. Shooting is pretty normal, but picking off headshots can be almost too easy once you get the hang of it. Luckily, later in the game, enemies don't die with just one shot to the head (due to dermal plating and helmets) which provides a much greater consent to go the quite route as opposed to guns blazing. The stealth elements are very enjoyable, my only qualms lie within the AI which makes things a little too simple and you can almost walk right past them at times; on the other hand, however, the positioning of body guards can be very complex and often require an alternate route. Audio and visuals are quite good and I managed to get the game running on max settings with my GTX 460- even with DX11, which brings tessellation, which is fantastic.
Although this game is very enjoyable, there is one thing that amounts to so much grief it strips this game down to an 8.5 (had to round up, don't hate): boss fights. Never have I enjoyed a game so much up until the boss fights. My entire character was based around stealth and hacking- I never got thickened armor or better legs or whatever augmentations (augmentations are like upgrades for your character- kind of like Crysis but permanent). So, even though 90% of the game was perfectly acceptable for my character, the boss fights were a horrific mess. Eventually, I learned to just tase the bastards and grenade launch them to death. The boss fights were poor attempts to make the game into Zelda or Mass Effect where your character is built purely for combat. It was disappointing to see all of my augments wasted because I chose the more placid route. Anyhow, in some ways this game deserves a 10 and in others a 6. But I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected I would and found the story interesting enough to make me want to watch all the cutscenes. I seriously hope they make more of these, because it's a fantastic series that deserves the praise it's gotten and this revival is a testament to its fortitude.

The game starts as a simplistic FPS set in an intriguing time and setting. After the first intro sequence, and the title credits rolled, I was hooked, and ran a marathon game session over the next two days that I had free from work.

The voice acting is entertaining. The story starts simple, and then develops into a large conspiracy. I had to keep playing to see what was next. One of the key places where the game shines is the ability to complete an objective through multiple means. Sneak into a location? Go in guns blazing? Combine the two? Possibly talk your way in. Its key to remember, that not all options are equally viable in all situations, something that I feel many players forget if they're "chosen" playstyle is the one which isn't catered to.

Having never been a fan of the original, I can't relate how "similar" the two feel. I will say that this game engrossed me, and was a welcome change from the military shooter glut found everywhere else nowadays. I'd also like to say that the dialogue system is probably the best currently available in the game, and has more depth than BioWare's recent offering in Dragon Age 2. My only hope is that BioWare is taking notes.

There are definitely flaws, but I feel that the game itself is greater than the sum of its parts. If you're interested in a story that's more than simply "shoot this, go here, rinse repeat", then definitely give the game a try. I won't say that everyone will like it. But if I was handing out awards, it would definitely be in the consideration for PC game of the year.

The bad: Conversations. The lip sync is off most of the time and the NPCs almost always over-gesticulate (especially Malik). The voice acting isn't great for the most part, but it works. For a big budget game like this you'd have thought they could have gotten some better actors. Also, one final gripe: if you're skipping a portion of a conversation with the space key, it doesn't just skip the part that the subtitles are displaying, it skips the speaking character's entire remaining dialogue. Also the dialogue isn't stored for review unlike everything else in the game.
World depth. The city hubs are very similar to the way that ME and ME2 are handled (the map provides you a view of where you can go, not what is there necessarily, it makes it easier to get around but it isn't very realistic) There is a scarcity of side-quests and the game play isn't as open as I'd like. You're forced to go between the various locations; you don't get to pick where you're going to go. There aren't many NPCs to chat with. If you jot down the codes from the first time through you can save a lot of hassle but lose the experience. Also, for the Ghost and smooth operator bonuses, you never know when they start keeping track of them or when you no longer qualify.
Inventory: you have a standard grid based inventory with massive weapons (the sniper rifle takes up 2x6) and odd stacking rules (you can stack ammo, health power ups, energy bars, energy packs, but not energy "tubs" or grenades) also, when picking up a weapon, you automatically just take the ammo. This makes selling weapons to get more credits a repetitive chore as you have to drop your weapon (that you've probably modified) pick up the new weapon, go to a dealer, sell it then go back and get your weapon. I think most of these choices were made to encourage players to chose a stealth vs kill play style (with stealth, you'd leave the killing weapons behinds, stock up on stunning weapons and energy packs).
Bosses: bosses are pretty easy and straight-forward. The big problem comes for stealth players because there's no way to incapacitate bosses and no tricky way to manipulate the environment, you have to kill them with live ammo. Movement: With all the free-running games out there now (especially made by Eidos Montreal) and you being the penultimate augmented human, you'd think they'd have let you climb more. I like the cover system, but can stand to be improved.
Energy consumption: You need energy to use some of your augmented skills. You can get more batteries as you need them but for some reason only the last one will recharge (unless you only half use one)...I guess goes along with your play choices as to whether or not you want to go stealth and use a lot of energy. The problem there is that there is a scarcity of vendors selling energy products and when they do sell them they have a very limited supply.

Wow, a lot of complaints! Most of those are pretty nit-picky in my opinion. The game still stands up on it's own.

The good: The story. The plot is great, in my opinion. It's a bit of a rehash of and remix of other Deus Ex games but what starts out as a simple plot gets more and more complicated. If you've read a conspiracy theory laden game before you'll probably be able to guess some of the twists as they come but it was exciting and kept me gripped. I thought the game play was good, tilted to non-lethal game play (more respect from NPCs, more exp, more opportunities) but I could see turning the game into a bloodbath for fun on a second run through.
The speaking mini-games were pretty in depth even if they were fairly linear. in the persuasion talks you have, on one time through a speech option that originally worked in my favor was scorned the second time around. I thought it was interesting the bit of realism they added there. The augmentations are great and add to the game play. It's nicely explained away why most of them are unusable unlike in the first one where you had to add on as you played and why they'd call an agent "trained" when they can't hold a rifle steady or hack the simplest computers.
The visuals and visual concepts are also great. It's a dark renaissance world with bleak and glorious all mixed in.

Despite the problems, this is a great game, highly recommended.

The worst part about this game is it's shamefully poor renditions of real world cities none of the staff have obviously ever visited. The game starts off in Detroit 16 years in the future with buildings that are miles apart in real life, renamed and placed next to each other on roads that either don't exist, or are not supposed to intersect. This is not an open world game either, the maps are very restrictive, and if you fail a mission, instead of restarting, you continue on with all the other characters telling you how disappointed they are with your performance. They marketed that as a feature. What really threw me off were the high reviews from sources I usually trust. When a game is this well received, it usually does either something truly innovative, or raises the bar on an enjoyed gameplay mechanic. The bottom line, however, is that HR passes with flying colours - it does have a different feel, but Eidos Montreal clearly loved the original, and as such, have paid a lot of respects to it - that, and they learnt a lot from the original too.

The storyline is much in the same vein as the original, but is it's own beast... I think it does well. This is helped by a very richly detailed and immersive world, which really does live up to the pedigree of the original game. It is extremely linear, but such is Deus Ex, and I have absolutely no complaints - to me, it is blasphemy to see some people complain about a "lack of sandbox" here - it is not that kind of game.

Graphics are not as good as I was expecting, however. There're areas where things are a bit lax (some textures, for example) and animation can be annoying and twitchy. In spite of this, the game has a wonderfully unique black & gold aesthetic, which enhances immersion even more! Music is very much ambient, but it works. The gameplay is good, and much the same as the original. I liked how upgrades worked in the original more, but the (purely) augmentation-based system here works just as well, I suppose. A heavier emphasis on hacking is alright, but I'm sad to lockpicks and multitools go - still ,these are the nitpickings of a crazed fan. :) Otherwise, you really are able to pass through levels in your own way, although certain paths will always require more patience! The game does very well in rewarding such exploration, and I think one of the greatest things about this game is that it's a world you'll *want* to explore.

I've given it 8 and not 10 because of some annoying technical issues... I have not had any issue with load times, but I have experienced lots of crashes running Dx11 mode... annoying. The game is buggy as hell, but I'm sure these will be ironed out in time.

Ultimately, this is a wonderful game which I am enjoying thoroughly. Like the original, it is not for everyone... and like the original, it may take a tiny bit of a patience to get to the good stuff, but all the same, this is a game deserving of the "deus ex" title. Coming from me, that says a lot.

DX:HR is definitely a more than worthy successor to the original DX. It feels so much like DX 1, but improved so beautifully in every way. I love the visuals. The areas are complex but not confusing, with plenty of different ways to get around - from the rooftops to the sewers. The weapons are great and all have a number of upgrades available. I really like the conversation system. Many times I've gone through a conversation and then reloaded just to see how it would go with different choices. I've always been a stealth player when the game allows it and the stealth system in DX:HR is very good. I was glad to see the familiar and very functional inventory system, which really reduced the learning curve. One of my favorite parts of the game is the hacking system. Even when I have a code for a computer or lock, I still go through the hacking process. A great way to rack up experience points! I know that as soon as I'm done watching the final cutscene I'm going to immediately start a new game! AWESOME! Expand

It is a very nice and atmospheric game. A lot of detail and depth and it makes you feel like you are there. This is extremely rare in today's 6 hours flashy retarded for 8 year olds simple soo called games. Definitely for people with an attention span lasting longer then 5 seconds. This is not a mindless shooter. This is a Thief / System Shock hybrid living up to those great titles.

As a guy from Montreal, I was waiting for this game to come out...and buy it!....I've played the first Deus Ex when it came out...and really liked it!....This one is really a perfect match between FPS and RPG...It really gives you freedom when it come to choose how you'll handle a situation...One day, I feel like stealthy and stay hidden and another day, I can get in and kill everybody inAs a guy from Montreal, I was waiting for this game to come out...and buy it!....I've played the first Deus Ex when it came out...and really liked it!....This one is really a perfect match between FPS and RPG...It really gives you freedom when it come to choose how you'll handle a situation...One day, I feel like stealthy and stay hidden and another day, I can get in and kill everybody in the room...you have the choice!
There are no bad ways to pass a level...it only depends on how you want to play it!... The leveling is really kool too...I can spend 10 minutes just to decide where I'll put the really precious point I've just won...even if I feel like I always should upgrade the hacking to get access to all the security stuff....I always have the bad feeling ,when I let something un-hacked behind me, that I'm missing something good!... The graphics are really nice...even with some textures and shadows glitches...as all the shadows are black...the characters always seems to be dirty...but that may fit in that kind of "Blade Runner" universe... The only big issue I've seen so far, is the French voices...as I'm from Montreal, I was happy to put the game in French and hope to have some good voices...and the voices are good...but they're not synchronized with the character...and at some point, you hear the guy speaking and his mouth is not moving...but I can live with that as the game is really fun! Congratulation to the Montreal team that managed to show that they could do a possible GOTY!...

....now I just hope I won't have to wait another 11 years for the next Deus Ex!....

This is one of these games you play to see the story. Not just mindless shooting like COD or BF.
You make choices in a game to influence the story and that makes it way more interesting (just like ME).
The atmosphere you were in was brilliantly made and was perfect for the story. Graphical it all looked very good but sometimes the lip-sync was off (this **** can happen so no worries).

Although i found this game very good i encountered a lot of frustrating bugs. One of them were game loading crashes.

This is the real Deus EX 2 !!!. As an older player (30) I realy thought that old times, where games were tough, full of choices and consequences are over. DXHR teaches me that im wrong. :)

A clever game and a worthy addition to the franchise. Dx3 is indeed all about choice and this comes through with the level design and the augmentation system working hand in hand. Just little things can be done so many ways through vents, sewers, rooftops. Then throw in a variety of upgradable weapons and you have a game with a very high replay value. There are only a few games this year we suggest to 16-yrs old gamers and their fathers together. Human Revolution for sure is a Game of the Year nominee. [Oct 2011]

So despite the odds being stacked against it, Eidos Montreal accomplished the impossible and brought us a Deus Ex in the true sense of the word, probably the best one that we could have hoped for considering the current "requirements" for being commercially successful nowadays.

A worthy successor to one of the greatest games ever. It offers a lot of choice on many levels and feels like an RPG from years past - in a very good way. One of the best, if not the best game of 2011. [Oct 2011]
