  • Summary: Founding a new kingdom isn't easy: it takes cunning, manpower, and lots and lots of gold. How will you pay for the outrageously overpriced taverns and banks? Better descend into the dungeons and steal riches from the deadly inhabitants any way you can.

    Desktop Dungeons: Rewind bestows bites
Founding a new kingdom isn't easy: it takes cunning, manpower, and lots and lots of gold. How will you pay for the outrageously overpriced taverns and banks? Better descend into the dungeons and steal riches from the deadly inhabitants any way you can.

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind bestows bites of tactical roguelike action, which will quickly fester into a deep, lingering, and strategic obsession. Bargain with gods, equip your spoon and pick your battles, before retreating into the healing darkness. But beware... there are still many monsters to face!

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is a modern remastering of the award-winning, bite-sized, tactical dungeon crawler.

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind owes its success to its fast-paced, brief yet incredibly entertaining gameplay. The game may be small in size, but its depth and excitement are beyond measure. It's a gaming experience that you never knew you needed.

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is what I look for when playing a remastered title. A nice graphical update, plenty of quality-of-life changes, and new content that is not in the original but still adds to the enjoyment without feeling forced in. I love how easy it was to get into the game, and I liked the challenging aspect of Rewind. The new rewind feature is interesting and doesn’t break the already solid game experience. If you’ve never played a roguelike then Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is a great jumping on point to the genre. If you’ve been a fan of them for a while, this one should be added to your collection.

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind’s idea of mixing exploration with health and mana regeneration is great, as are how players can use it. It’s very fun to explore the levels, discover enemies, decide the best way to tackle them, and then, finally, gather enough resources to kill the boss and take the trophy. The rest of the experience, including the kingdom development and the puzzles, is competent but not as impressive. Upgrades should probably cost a little less. But the core gameplay root is so good that Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is the rare game I plan to return to frequently, if only for one or two runs.

There’s a surprising amount of content in Desktop Dungeons Rewind and, despite its simple appearance, this is a devilishly fiendish beast that we can’t get enough of. It’s not your typical dungeon crawler by any means, but its easy-to-pick-up yet hard to master gameplay will keep us coming back time and time again.

If you're after a different, more cerebral kind of dungeoneering experience, Desktop Dungeons: Rewind might just be the adventure you're looking for.

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind is a title you'll likely play for weeks if you pace yourself properly. With the multitudes of things to do, you'll be enjoying it for a long time to come.

Desktop Dungeons: Rewind, is an enjoyable game with a lot of puzzle-based gameplay and a variety of different modes. Unfortunately, the game has faults like the cheesy dialogue and the intrusive UI. However, the amazing character designs, amount of content, and great puzzle gameplay far outweigh the bad. Although the game can be frustratingly difficult, the game is still overall an entertaining experience. I recommend giving this game a chance if you are interested in trying out this unique hybrid of rouge-like and puzzle gameplay.
