I enjoyed revisiting Dead Island 2 for an evening of gore-filled good times with its Haus DLC, but with very few additions to shake up gameplay and a surprisingly short runtime, there isn’t much here worth diving back in to see on its own. It certainly has a few laughs to offer, some beautiful new areas to explore, and a crossbow that’s actually pretty fun to use, but it only took half an hour of fighting the same undead goons from the base game for me to grow sick of them all over again. Unless you’ve got a great desire to drink the Kool-Aid, you might be better off waiting for additional DLC before making a return to Hell-A.

Despite starting from truly intriguing assumptions, closely linked to a captivating aesthetic and a pleasantly grotesque narrative frame, the first DLC of Dead Island 2 does not add much to the proposal modeled by Dambuster Studios. Despite some occasional creative flashes, in fact, the expansion flows without leaving persistent traces, both on the playful side and on the purely narrative one. The potential was there, and we are sure that some will appreciate the "camp" drift chosen by the English team more than others, but ultimately Haus is a content that can easily be left out, waiting to see how the developer will complete the journey post-launch of Dead Island 2.

Haus is a promising addition to Dead Island 2 at first but is quickly made worse by a short runtime and lack of meaningful additions.

The Dead Island 2 Haus DLC is nothing more than a quick romp that can be moderately fun if played in the middle of the campaign for a little 2 hours or so diversion, but it simply doesn't offer enough for returning players, as it only exacerbates how the game tends to become a little repetitive a dozen hours in.
