Dead Island 2 is stylish, vibrant and flooded with zombie infection. Explore iconic, gore-drenched Los Angeles. Meet larger-than-life characters. Slay countless foes in exquisitely bloody detail. And evolve to become the ultimate Zombie Slayer!

A deadly virus is spreading across Los Angeles, turning inhabitants into zombies. Bitten, infected, but more than just immune, uncover the truth behind the outbreak and discover who -or what- you are. Los Angeles is in quarantine and the military have retreated. Only you, and the handful of others who happen to be resistant to the pathogen, hold the future of the city (and humanity) in the balance.

    Features:

Explore HELL-A – Dead Island 2 takes players across the most iconic locations of the City of Angels, now stained with horror, in an exciting pulp journey from the verdant suburbia of Beverly Hills to the quirky promenade of Venice Beach.

Brutal Melee Sandbox – Combat delivers the most intense, visceral and gory first person experience possible, with plenty of weapons and tactical (and brutal) options to chew your way through the zombie horde. Whether you’re slicing, smashing, burning or ripping, we want you to truly feel it.

Be the Ultimate Zombie Slayer – There are six characters to choose from, each with their own unique personality and dialogues. You can fully customize the abilities of each Slayer, with our brand-new skill system allowing you to re-spec instantly and try out the craziest builds.

Zombie Infestation – Ready to experience the most advanced dismemberment system in games? Our LA is crawling with zombies that look and react realistically. These mutated wretches are the reanimated, rotten heart of Dead Island 2 with dozens of distinct zombie types, each with their own mutations, attacks and hundreds of visual LA-themed variants. Our monsters are relentless, challenging, and true Los Angelinos. Will you be able to survive?

A Cinematic Co-op Adventure – As a proper RPG experience, Dead Island 2 offers plenty of exciting quests, a crazy cast of characters, and a thrilling pulp story, to truly immerse you in its twisted universe. Re-playability is guaranteed. Add an over-the-top co-op mode for up to three players, and you’ll stay in LA for a very long (and gory) trip.

Dead Island 2 is everything a Dead Island fan could ask for. Between its addicting combat mechanics, excellent character and gear progression systems, hilariously satirical writing, and goretastic presentation, this long-awaited sequel has proven it was worth the wait.

Dead Island 2 is a surprisingly good game that I had more fun with than I would have expected. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but its well-made mechanics, its simplicity and its honest intentions are enough elements to score it positively.

Dead Island 2 departs from the original setting of an island and takes place in a zombie-infested Los Angeles. The game now offers a semi-open world, featuring satisfying combat mechanics, a vast array of upgradable weapons, and intense battles against hordes of zombies.

All in all, Dead Island 2 is an excellent surprise and a must-have for all the fans of the genre, that seems to us undeniable. And if, despite its rather minor problems, Dead Island 2 can lose credibility at first sight, there is no doubt that its important strong points will make you forget these small details as you progress in the game. The work done in many respects is colossal, and you feel it throughout the progression. A very good game that we highly recommend!

Refreshingly brainless and made with a lot of heart, Dead Island 2's repetitive quest design and disappointing conclusion don't stop it from being a whale of a time.

Dead Island 2 is a remarkably solid game, one that doesn't make any attempt to reinvent the wheel, but nevertheless is a more than satisfying mindless casual zombie-killing gorefest. It won't be a game held up in years to come as the go-to model for open-world zombie games but given its decade-long tenure in development hell, it's nothing short of a miracle it ever managed to crawl across the finish line as anything less than a complete mess.

Dead Island 2 could have been the Return of the Living Dead of zombie video games, making for an irreverent, B-movie romp through an undead-filled LA, but it just ends up marginally better than the original game without ever approaching its full potential. The improved combat is the game's main saving grace, but it isn't enough to redeem the shallow progression mechanics, inconsistent tone, and unfocused story.

Favorite game of 2023 so far. I would score it a 10, except for unresolved audio issues and no patches/solutions. I resolved the issueFavorite game of 2023 so far. I would score it a 10, except for unresolved audio issues and no patches/solutions. I resolved the issue myself... but the fact that the game is still unpatched leaves me frustrated. Otherwise an incredibly enjoyable game. I have over 60 hours in the game. I've beat it one time, and done all the side missions (100% completion)... and I want to play again with a different character. It's just that fun. Expand

Just bear in mind I haven't finished DI 2 yet, but the flaws are noticeable for the few hours I've played.
And by the way, when I finish reviewing this game I will factor in that this game has Denuvo DRM.
I'll factor it in right now.

So for the Time being this game is a 7/10 it is good but there are highly apparent and noticeable flaws present with this game.

I will finish the review later...

it's been a month, I guess and I haven't even touched this game, still playing Baldurs Gate 3...
and I'm about to try out Armoured Core 6....It will take me, I think 8 years and 11 months to finish DI 2.
Though my score still stands it's a 7/10.

So disappointing, after waiting many years this is what we get? Game may as well have been set in a tunnel it's that linear. Zombies spawningSo disappointing, after waiting many years this is what we get? Game may as well have been set in a tunnel it's that linear. Zombies spawning constantly everywhere makes what exploration is available impossible. Eventually gave up and just got from a to b as quickly as possible. Buggy as hell too, how many times a Zombie in the distance suddenly appeared right in my face and trying to manage and sell weapon inventory was completely glitched. Environmental aspects were interesting but they're everywhere! Cant go more than a few steps without electrocution/fire/chemical areas, too many! Weapons upgrading feels pointless and inventory too restricted. Oh, and no driving! It just doesn't have the scale, the soul or the freedom of the original DI where you could go where you wanted do what you wanted, plan your tactics, hone your skills, clear an area (and know it was clear!) and take time to explore, look around and discover. None of this is possible in DI2, It's cramped, rushed, congested and confusing. Expand

So heres the short and ugly one. Refunded the game with under 2 hours of game time. The campaign was 27% complete. It's just a dlc expansion to the first game where combat and missions are extremely repetitive and no character customization. The few characters you're given are limited and boring with a car d system, why not a skill tree to give us some progression? The crafting and upgrading of weapons are nice but also limited, while the missions and combat is extremely repetitive. Hack and slash spam through this horde, find a random battery to power a closed door. Repeat. Finally find a gun, now go grind and farm to craft a single bullet. Bosses are easy to beat, but "bullet sponges".
