A game that's fun on paper that's destroyed by a p2w element in unlocking other characters. Seriously a console game that has a business model of a mobile game.
You should be able to unlock characters. Through progression when you have more DLC characters than og characters that's a huge red flag.

Its an ok game. But the lack of play with friends and the peer to peer connection is the worst idea ever for a game like this. Should have known i would be disapointed when I heard starbreeze was their publisher.

Ultimately this is a sham of a product. Dead By Daylight is 3 years old now, and most of its original launch bugs are still not fixed. Every critical issue is met with "we're looking into it" for months or years on-end by the developers.

Infinite loading screens, bugged out players, lack of dedicated servers (which are still in testing and are extremely unstable). Every critical issue is met with "we're looking into it" for months or years on-end by the developers.

The developers have setup suggestions forums on storefronts, only to fully ignore the plights of the players. The only reason things are looked at are if they have completely dominated the game's media presence (As recent exploits have, though they were still never fixed anyway, only bans issues for doing them).

On top of it all, the developers have created DLC equivalent to around 3 times the game's asking price, and then setup a premium-currency store to buy more in-game items for your DLC purchases that they didn't come with. The developers even went as far as to usurp the game's loot system to include free adverts for the DLC instead of other more meaningful loot, and it replaces your rarest loot options on top of that.

In gameplay itself, overall the original content is good. However, experiencing it is another thing, as the game is now covered in rigged games that prevent you ever playing as the killer and continuing to gain ranks.

It's over-monetized and under-developed. The only meaningful argument for playing DBD at this point is that it is the best in its genre, but that means very little.

The idea is very good but the game is very very buggy and unbalanced. Killers has too much bonus and survivor never wins. Don't waste your money now. Wait at least 1 year from now.

Numerous glitches in the game play itself, i.e. traps being under the ground and thus invisible to see, or pallets standing upright in the centre of a gap when they should be by the side waiting to be thrown down, the problem with that glitch is you can throw the pallet down but it still appears standing upright in the centre and you cannot tell when approaching whether or not it has already been thrown down and if there is a need to throw the pallet down or slide over it that need likely means you are being chased hence game play interference in a needless and frustrating way. The list of different glitches i have experienced reached low double figures - 10 or 11 if I remember correctly. Not good enough - but it got worse.

Now I cannot access the game at all and this inability to access the game, so far at time of writing, has lasted 8 consecutive days. When I attempt to enter the game itself, a 'Save Game Error' appears asking me to contact Behaviour Interactive via an email address detailed in the error message. I have done so numerous times. The first time I received a response within 1 hour and 20 minutes giving me guidance to solve the problem if owning the game on PC. I had detailed specifically to them I was on Xbox One. I replied. The next response took hours and responses beyond that took days. I have requested a refund due to the sale of a faulty product. Behaviour Interactive staff seem to think their company policy overrides law and have stated no refunds are possible. They have sold a faulty product to the point where beyond simply the glitches I now cannot even enter the game and have not been able to for over a week. I have asked Behaviour Interactive numerous questions and have received either no response or generalised responses. This is a novice operation of a company and I will never buy a game made by them again nor would I advise anyone to. I have never experienced anything anywhere near as bad as this on any game on any platform previously. They have sold over 2 million copies of this game but want to keep the revenue and hope customers will be ignorant and accept it. I have had less than one month to use this game before prevention of access. I will look at dealing with them in a court. They've made a lot of money in total from a game badly made and I didn't pay for the stress of conversing with their team or for being able to access the game for such a minimal amount of time. AVOID.

Very unbalanced game (until June 2017 survivors were OP and then killers became OP) and full of bugs. Devs prioritize monetization and cosmetics only and fixes are superficial and often detrimental to the game. Avoid at all costs.

After 4 years with this game I cannot recommend it.

Dead By Daylight had it peek at 2016-2017. Of course the game has more people and is far more popular then it was but... it's just not the same. The game was very, VERY unbalanced at the time but, it was a lot more fun to play. Why you ask? Because at that time a shop with cosmetics didn't exist and devs weren't making this game

Because at that time a shop with cosmetics didn't exist and devs weren't making this game competitive. Yes, you heard me right, BHVR is making DBD which started as a scary party game into a e-sports competitive show. Also they're prioritizing cosmetics over bug fixes and patches. Did you know that in DBD they're bugs and errors that didn't get fixed since launch? You kinda get the picture how the devs are treating this game.

Another big problem with this game is the community. In every game you will find a player that will be bashing the opposite role in the post-game chat. It doesn't matter if they did good or played fair, salty killers/survivors will send you awful comments in almost every game.

Now, let's talk about killers that where released lately. The most efficient way of escaping is a strategy called "looping". As the name suggests you're running around a certain tile that is randomly generated on the map in a certain way that makes it so you stay as far away from the killer as possible. So, know that we know what looping is lets go back to the new killers. Since 2020 almost every killer that was released was punishing you when you where trying to loop, so the only strategy to them is to stop mind-gaming and trying to loop, but to only run forward and drop every pallet early. This play style is very boring and un-fun for both sides. There is no mind-gaming and trying to trick the opponent, it's just holding "W". This is very unhealthy for the game as it removes the fun element of the game which was outsmarting the opponent. There is also no skill cap on the killers that have this play style which means that anybody can pick them up and in few games can start destroying teams in a matter of seconds. Oh, you have over 1,000 hrs as survivor? Don't care you get downed in 10-30 seconds. Oh, almost forgot about survivors. When you play against this type of killer the best strategy on the survivor side is to do generators as fast as possible since chases last around 10-30 seconds, maybe over a minute if you're really good or the killer is pretty bad. That play style is surprise, surprise extremely BORING. To repair a generator alone you need about 80 seconds (I think), imagine doing it 2 or 3 times. There is no skill involved which is a real spit in the face to the people that where putting hours and hours on survivor trying to get good.

Now the devs are either releasing a really strong killer that has little to no counter play, or a really weak killer that nobody wants to play and is a laugh stock in the entire community.

If you are thinking about maining this game I don't really recommend it. There are over 20 characters on the survivor and killer side, everybody has unique 3 perks. If you want to have all perks you will need to grind and grind and grind, through a very, VERY tedious and outdated leveling system. When you purchase the game you only get 7 survivor and 5 killers the rest is DLC :) You will have to spend a lot of money if you want to experience DBD fully. Also, don't buy it on the PS4, XBOX1 or Nintendo Switch, the game runs awful on last gens consoles and looks really AWFUL on the Nintendo Switch.

It has some of the most tense multiplayer I’ve ever enjoyed. Playing as the survivor has instances of the greatest teamwork with no communication. Where everyone is doing everything possible to save someone in trouble. And playing as the killer can be exceptionally fun when your moving from survivor to survivor, not caring about the generators because you can put so much pressure on them by just going on a rampaging killing spree. But those moments are so few and far between. There are so many issues within the game that the developers who put this game out 2 YEARS AGO refuse to address. all the issues in Dead by Daylight stems from the moment the killer is no longer seen as a threat.

This is due to a number of reasons, such as a looping and pallets. Obstacles and pallets are placed generously across the maps to help survivors break chases from the killers. However when the survivor seeks to be chased for points as well as annoying the killer, then there are moments when the killer will get frustrated to point where if he finally catches that target it's more likely he will face camp to remove a player from the game. I understand that the chase is part of the game, however when a survivor is intentionally prolonging the chase for as long as possible it breaks immersion heavily and ruins the game for others. The point that i'm trying to get across is that stealth is not rewarded in the game…. You get more points running around and irritating the killer as much as possible rather than getting the objectives that are the entire point of the game.

Some killers are going to be able to deal with looping and pallets way better than other, and perks can remedy some of these issues, but let me make this clear. You will not have the same game experience as the youtubers and streamer who play this game religiously. I have 36 hours played as of making the review, but I am nowhere near to unlocking all the perks on a single character. Perks are crucial to the game, and it's a grind to get them. People who have sunk more time into this game are going to be able to deal with certain situations better than you will because of this. And this issue extremely noticeable when playing as the killer and you don't have higher tier perks.

Going back to the killer no longer being a threat. After the either of the exits are opened survivors are free to leave, but many times they don't, due to them waiting to see if they need to go back to help a teammate, this is fine, however when the killer meets them at the exit it can create awkward moments where the killer cant do anything but try to force them to leave while having no chance at actually being able to kill them. Why not allow the killer to close exits, and force survivors outside of the gate to leave the game, and then make it to where the door can be reopened by the remaining survivors. It gives the survivors the ability to sit at exit and wait safely while allowing the killer the ability to force safe player out of the game, while at the same time placing a bigger threat on players still trapped in the map.

The final issue that seems to be reoccurring so often to the extent that it's frustrating, are trapdoor standoffs. OHHHH MAN….. it's a joke that this is still an issue. If the last survivor and the killer meet at the trap door the game can become locked for an extended period of time The killer is no longer a threat. Both will stare are each other, if the killer swings and even downs the player, the killer loses. The Survivor wins as long as the killer doesn't interrupt the jumping animation. Neither wants to lose points during the game. If it has come to this the killer as performed well and has already killed three survivors and the last one is going to do everything in his power to win. To avoid this, I've even came to the point where I would down the second to last survivor and walked the entire map three to four times looking for the last one as well as the hatch. Of course the downed player eventually bleeds out and the game ends with a hatch escape and the dead player in end game lobby cursing up a storm saying that the killer had downed him and left, and that the last player should be banned for hiding in a locker the entire time. The developers need to make up the mind with hatches, either make the last survivor uninterruptable while jumping in the hatch, or allow the killer to close the hatch for an extended period of time. The game is not being held hostage by a player…. It's the developers not wanting to make a choice that is wasting your time.

While Dead by Daylight is a fun game and one of the forefronts in the multiplayer horror genre, it's these issues that keep me from recommending it to others, The second immersion is broken, and the killer is no longer scary, is the same moment this game takes a nose dive in terms of quality.

Game looks killer sided but lower ranks its all about voice chat with survivor with friends with all the best perks. They make it where it is no fun for killer any more which will kill the game. At the moment gen rushing is a problem and there is going to be a small fix to tool kits but that won't help gen rush. They should just reset all ranks to 20 and have people play for it to balance out. Takes a long time to find a match up to 30 minutes at times depending on where you live. They use to have free events but removed it for a paid season pass. Game is turning to the bring players in and make them spend money before they get tired of it type of game.
For game play, it's always fun playing survivor now. Once you get use to being chased by the killer you get use to the heart beats for when they get closer. You might get mad if the killer hits you because server lag made you lag backwards. But the game has new bugs with every patch update. But playing with friends is what makes it fun and unfair for the killer. For the killers game play can be stressful depending on everyone's connection. They tend to dodge your swings with ease and you have to out play 4 people to win the game. Graphics are very amazing, and you have to see Moo Moo the cow on a hospital bed. I'll have to get it a low rating because the current decisions they are making are hurting the game.

It doesn't matter that the other player hates the game from a lot of camper killers and therefore a rage quit (for which there is a ban), but camp is a completely accepted thing in this "game" for which there is no penalty!

And if you play a killer then you won't have much chance against swf because they are constantly communicating with each other so they can completely ruin the killer's gameing!

But most importantly, new skins are coming, which of course you can buy for money! Instead of releasing new content or fixing that many bugs!

Hitbox is very fantastic in this game!

Pretty Good Job so Far, Mr. Cote!

The game is riddled with bugs. And with every patch new ones are added and some of them ignored completely for years. New perks, mechanics and "revamps" break balance and immersion every time. Only to be nerfed again when the devs realize (much later than the players) that they were a bad idea like this - but often they dont even realize that.
Matchmaking is still very bad (even with crossplay now). It gets new and casual players and rank one tryhard killers mixed up. And you still have to wait up to 15 minutes for a game.

The balance is horrible. Every patch it gets worse. I recently saw a bunch of old footage from 2016. It was a completely different game.
What instantly jumped into my eyes was that it looked far creepier and scarier than nowadays.
The lighting was much better (darker and moodier), the maps were much darker, the grass was much higher, the view distance was low, very blurry in the distance and very creepy, there were far more pallets and open windows. Hopping windows was actually useful and not a free hit for killers, because it wasnt as slow as it is now.

The lighting was already bad for a long time, but recently they revamped the maps completely and it turned the whole game into a joke, because a lot of maps now are as bright as day and plain as a salt desert. So that killers can see you even better in the now high view distance. But of course they also made totems much harder to find by not only making ridiculous hiding spots, but also by turning them very dark.

As a honest survivor player (who doesnt cheese in any way) you got f*cked extremely hard in these last years. If you now want to be good at this game you either have to find a good coordinated group or learn to be a toxic sh*t yourself and just loop the killer (which turns this creepy horror game into a clown circus).
Some killer perks are so ridiculous, that they completely ruined the game and made people act more and more like selfish bastards and force survivors to play a certain and predictable way for killers (and of course more and more overpowered abilities in revamps and new killers to even negate the only options survivors have). They are so powerful that they have become a meta that 90% of killers use. Theres not much diversity in gameplay anymore because of all that.
And of course survivor perks most of the time got massively nerfed and new perks for them are 95% completely useless. It went that far that the devs openly tolerated exploits that the killers thought would "fix" "overpowered" survivor perks. Like Decisive Strike for example (just got nerfed again, because the killers kept crying). It was even ok to "dribble" the DS survivor to the next hook, making it impossible to use DS - a wasted perk slot. Yet after a patch they made it impossible to do that. Yet their TOS clearly states that exploiting is a banable offense.

The devs are a reflection of their own playerbase. They act arrogant, insult their own customers live on air and ban people on their forums if they criticize them for their toxic behavior or dare to treat them the way they treat their customers. They even once had a contest among each other on their stream to "not insult customers", which they failed miserably. That should tell you enough.

Then they finally implemented dedicated servers. That took them almost a year after the promise (which was said to never happen for years before that). And then what we got was even laggier and buggier than their P2P netcode. And its still extremely bad. Sometimes so bad that I just cant believe what just happened, like the killer hitting me from literally 5 meters away and having 5 meter arms swinging through the window I just hopped through, or hitting me through the dropped pallet or teleporting on my side of the pallet, or hitting me with a range weapon even though I am long gone behind a wall.

Now they have added a new killer which is just ridiculous to look at. Some flashy K-Pop singer with green hair and pink clothes. And a Korean survivor that looks like the most western looking European you can find... Good job! To be honest, he looks far too much like the Joker, which makes me think that they tried to get a deal with Warner Brothers to get the Joker in it, but they said no and so they decided to put their own "Joker" in it. Which failed horribly, because he is just completely ridiculous.

Oh yeah, they also "improved" the animations and in-game GUI. Nobody asked for it, but they did it anyway and its horrible and nobody likes it, so they tried to fix it, but only a bit. Its still horrible.

    TL;DR:
The game idea is exceptional, but the devs are the worst Ive ever seen (Ive been playing games for decades) and ruined it with their utter incompetence.

The game is still an unbalanced mess, while survivors gets 500 billion free-cards out of a bad situation killers gets nothing and realizes that the only way to "win" is to camp survivors(Both sides are cancer trash btw, especially SWF). I didn't have a good time, because the game is not fun. Playing this game is a true test of patience. Each patch introduces worse and worse bugs, and killers get virtually zero love from the devs. There haven't been any interesting or useful perks for killers for the last three patches. There have been zero attempts to solve a very prominent (albeit complex) issue regarding survive with friends. The game is no balance. Survivors got a lot of fun perks in the new patch and killers got nothing. Because the devs know the player base is 80% survivor (actual stat btw). It doesn't seem like the dedicate any thought into how to make killer less grating because it's a statistically small portion of their player base even though there wouldn't even be a game without killer players. Игра скатила. За маньяка нельзя играть из-за бесконечных нерфов и апо выживших. За выживших не интересно играть из-за немощности убийцы

Devs don't understand how to balance and don't understand how to address bugs. Game is hardly playable at 4k. For years now the company refused to fix a DPI scaling issue. It makes it very difficult to target items/things in game.

Game itself doesnt deserve more then 4/10. Its buggy, full of glitches and terrible meta. On top of that, devs instead of fixing/balancing things rather adding new **** with new bugs.
First hour is simply terrible cuz of pointless tutorial which wont tell you most basic and very cruical mechanic and u have to find them out by yourself. Another 10 hours are more or less great (as long as

First hour is simply terrible cuz of pointless tutorial which wont tell you most basic and very cruical mechanic and u have to find them out by yourself. Another 10 hours are more or less great (as long as ur thrown to atleast little balanced games with other newbies). After that, its just horror (in bad meaning) - games become all about terrible meta, bugs, exploits and broken ****s. Combine it with literaly nonexistant matchmaking which throw noob(s) at one side and fully decked "pro(s)" at other side, 9 out of 10 games are just onesided and boring (either all survivors escape without killer even catching one, or killer butchers every1 in few minutes).

Reason why i give 0/10 are their forums with mods ordered to ban and delete any1 who is pointing out too many flaws and thus scaring potencial newcomers.

Very boring and is somewhat fun it's no element of surprise graphics are bad and it feels like a rushed version of something that could've been way more fun and I believe it tried to rush out from the Friday the 13th that's why the game has some bugs and just doesn't feel the best especially the graphics.

This is a horrible grinding game where the developers expect you to play 500+ hours to unlock all the NECESSARY perks to finally enjoy playing without being at an unfair disadvantage against nolifers.

I really have no clue on rating it....played it...uninstalled it...dust collection listed it...over hyped...no game game found plenty of times...why that's because hunter has become the hunted...retarded yes with the 20+ obstacles...it all almost seems endless...chasing one survivor all over and all the generators are done...high lvl sabotage...quick sabotage super rare perks...alsoI really have no clue on rating it....played it...uninstalled it...dust collection listed it...over hyped...no game game found plenty of times...why that's because hunter has become the hunted...retarded yes with the 20+ obstacles...it all almost seems endless...chasing one survivor all over and all the generators are done...high lvl sabotage...quick sabotage super rare perks...also crippled survivors isn't really what you call crippled...still fast hard to chase...a hunter isn't really a hunter because he cant seem to close in...bleed effect isn't a real thing in this game...no blood trail effects for hunter to follow...in the end it really seemed bias and bland to me...matchmaking became horrible because I had one perk as a hunter with these lvl 50 characters who had 5 from super rare to ultra rare...this game just doesn't cut it for me...too bad steam doesn't have a discount buy off...or else I would trade it...it no longer is a horror title...because hunter just cant hunt them down also plus in reality if survivors can slide why cant hunters in actual horror jump it again on the closing in on prey...has become horribly horribly ehhh meek...maybe the 0 is well worth it for me because I dust collected it and uninstalled it...literally like Oberon has said survivors want you to chase them because of the 20+ obstacles you have to go through...in the end destroying that obstacle took too long...so they taunt you...then again you run into more obsolete obstacles and once again it all starts over...

the game was fun at first, but has become horribly obsolete in a hunters eyes...
being a survivor it was like wow ez pee z...with one perk also...
literally the game needs real balancing in game and level matchmaking...
the competitive of the game lacks everything now...
sorry to admit it but the roles has switched in this game..a horror for the hunter..also lacks content...repetitive stages...fog has increased to immensely foggy...no speed up death when hitting or chainsawing your victims is odd especially since they are just hanging there...they really should just add a smart ai since I feel it really is survivor based now since hunters always kept getting nerfed...and so long Dead by Daylight...forever...

Dead by Daylight is a missed opportunity. Despite an intriguing concept, the final result is flawed by a lot of small problems. You could still enjoy it, but in order to do so you should get over a terrible netcode, a grind-based progression system, and all too random rewards.

An amazing survival horror experience and my favourite indie game so far this year; you’ll sure as hell see this one on my list of top 5 games of 2016.

Disastrous scoring system encourages some players to cooperate with the killer instead of running from him and reduces promising gameplay to nonsense (e.g. when the killer picks you up, throws you into a trap, resets it, picks you up, throws you into a trap, resets it, picks you up, throws you into a trap, resets it, picks you up...).
