Aside from the lack of variety, Dead by Daylight at its core is brilliant, with an idea that's fresh and truly something we haven't played before. With more additional content, this could become a must-buy game for horror fans.

Dead by Daylight can be scary for the victims and satisfying for the hunter, but lack of variety in game modes makes it repetitive after a dozen or so hours, especially if we don't have a group of friends ready for bloody competition.

The idea is great and it's really intense and fun when played with friends. However, it's not the most polished experience, so it might be worth waiting and seeing how it improves in the upcoming months.

None of this stops Dead by Daylight from being enjoyable at times—or even tense—but a horror experience it is not. Nor is it particularly well fleshed out, well documented, or even well executed.

Dead By Daylight is a fantastic concept that, in practice, needed much more work put into it.

Dead by Daylight is a missed opportunity. Despite an intriguing concept, the final result is flawed by a lot of small problems. You could still enjoy it, but in order to do so you should get over a terrible netcode, a grind-based progression system, and all too random rewards.

Disastrous scoring system encourages some players to cooperate with the killer instead of running from him and reduces promising gameplay to nonsense (e.g. when the killer picks you up, throws you into a trap, resets it, picks you up, throws you into a trap, resets it, picks you up, throws you into a trap, resets it, picks you up...).
