    - Private games with 4 close friends are probably the most fun you can have playing this game. - There are regular updates and events which keep the game on life support. Cons: - The ranking system is for low self esteem people who are weak-willed as you can't even be demoted. It's like spoon feeding babies. - There is STILL massive lag and discrepancy in hitboxes.     - There is STILL massive lag and discrepancy in hitboxes. Jumping over a pallet or window from a killer and moving will sometimes still allow you to be hit from afar. Huntress STILL hits you from around corners.

    - Playing with randoms is one of the worst experiences imaginable in most circumstances. Survivors will camp unhooks instead of working gens, killers will face camp and tunnel out of the whazoo, if you 4 kill as killer god help you because you'll be getting passive aggressive messages calling you trash.

    - The more killers and survivors which are released, the more of an unbalanced mess the game becomes. Ever since the perk and prestige rework the game has dramatically gone downhill.    … Expand

    This game is extremely boring and repetitive. Sitting in one spot pressing m1 to do gens for 90 seconds+ is so much fun. Looping is also a lot of fun with the 5 pallets located in the map. The game fell off. After playing Texas Chainsaw Massacre for a week, I went back to dbd and it was unplayable due to how boring dbds gameplay is.

    This game values gen rushing and gen patrolling more than fun gameplay. AS killer you are punished if you chase survivors without going to gens. But are rewarded for creating a 40 minute 3 gen that is impossible to beat, and as survivor you are rewarded for gen rushing... so boring
    These days, if you dont have gen regression build or have a team that is efficient on gens you will lose, since after the first chase most of the 5 pallets in the map will be gone, meaning you will have to simply shift + w to buy time.    … Expand

    Unbalanced game with really overpriced dlcs, overpriced skins and overpriced price tag.

    Game's also p2w, has battle pass, and overall very much things which games f2p have even though this game isn't one of 'em.

    Playing with friends... MIGHT be fun, but if you really want to play with em, just go play move or die or any other party games.

    You take 9/10 this trash but gave only 6/10 to TCM because the game have drop hit fps and monotonous tasks. Just like your beastie game with 1 dumbest killer and 4 more dumb survivors. Good job IGM

    The gameplay is equally as bad and boring
    how does the gameplay go? well if your survivor sit on a gen for 6 years get chased hooked get unhooked immediately downed and hooked again and not saved because of awful teammates

    how about killer?
    Search the whole map back and fourth for 10 minutes straight find a survivor hit them but they are immediately healed back to full because of overpowered item addons chase them for another 10 minutes down them hook them and then every gen is done and all survivors escape

    Not very fun
    your wallets not gonna have much fun after this too
    because of this games horrible ass monetisation system
    what's that? you spent 25 dollars on this already overpriced game?
    spend another 1000 dollars on awful useless cosmetics that you cant even look at to appreciate

    oh what's that you wanna play the actually good killers and survivors and have good perks? either grind for 1000 hours to get one killer or spend more of your money thats right you don't need that money burn you money away just like your mental state after playing this train wreck of a video game    … Expand

    The disconnected from host is really retarded wtf every time i get disconnected i check my wifi speed and running at 47mbps and tried contacting support and did all the troubleshooting they recommended and none of it worked now im banned for 24 hours even though i'm not intentionally disconnecting and trying to ruin the game.

    Eh the gameplay is whatever but that really pisses me off is that game devs LOVE to give Feng and other **** ass characters skin. ALL. THE. TIME. I want my new Jane skin in shorts already!

    Of course, there is no place for the faint-hearted.
    Despite the fact that the reviews of this game in Steam are "Positive", I still do not recommend playing this game.
    DBD just isn't fun. Rather, it takes time and gives almost nothing in return.
    There is no place for beginners, simply because it makes no sense.
    The players themselves are killing this game with their toxic behavior.

    I started playing DBD back in January 2017 and I loved it. It wasn´t flawless but fun af especially with friends. But I never fully committed to this game. I basically played in phases. Sometimes I cranked the hours up but between these times I stopped playing for months. Nowadays I turn it on every one to two months and stop playing after one trial. sometimes after a half. The gameI started playing DBD back in January 2017 and I loved it. It wasn´t flawless but fun af especially with friends. But I never fully committed to this game. I basically played in phases. Sometimes I cranked the hours up but between these times I stopped playing for months. Nowadays I turn it on every one to two months and stop playing after one trial. sometimes after a half. The game became an unfunny and buggy mess. All my friends who play this game are constantly permanently complaining. It's kinda annoying.
    Another big problem is the monetization. The base game is fairly priced but when it comes to skins things are getting ridiculous. But you don't have to buy them and the devs have to pay the servers. But given how bad the servers are and how unscary this so called "horrorgame" is, it´s not worth it.
    Here comes a recommendation for you if you still want to try this game: Don't buy to many DLC's at once. At first, when you don't know which of them is worth it, you can end up buying a pretty low quality killer. Also you should focus on learning one or two killers. I can imagine thath DBD with it's actual size can be quite overwhelming for new players. But a big advantage of being new to the game is that you won't recognize the most of the games flaws.
    In the case of Dead by Daylight I think it's quite important to consider how the community is treated by the developers. Because it is a constantly evolving live service game the dev's are supposed to listen to the community. The sad reallity is that they neither listen to their fans nor are they receptive to critsism. Behavior even throws content creators out of their partnerahip program if they complain about the game.    … Expand

    My son plays this game and it has exacerbated a temper I didn't even know he had. On top of that, the post-game chat is almost always racist and homophobic. He's been propositioned multiple times as well. WARNING: This game is permeated by racist, prejudiced pedophiles. These are completely indisputable facts.

    This game not only has countless exploitable gameplay mechanics but both sides are heavily encouraged to abuse such mechanics to actually have a fair experience. This forces a player to use the same playstyle to stand a chance against others. A rather sad and disappointing problem as well since this game has a very fun and enjoyable customization system for all.

    For five years, the developers have continued to add characters, mechanics, and maps to this franchise which is admirable. Unfortunately, there are too many ingredients in this potluck. One side of this asymmetric game has a much smaller plate than the other, and it shows. Killers can only take 4 of the dozens of perks available while survivors can take 16 with bonus items.

    When this game began, it was HARD to escape the killer. But now, there are only two outcomes for survivors: You either escape easily with a well equipped team, or die because you were paired with a noob. On the killer's side, you are at the mercy of a poor matchmaking system and the restrictions of archaic game mechanics which haven't changed in your favor. You'll feel like a little kid who is told to play a game of hide & seek and is quickly abandoned.

    Up until now, I've unlocked every character, perk, and achievement in the game. I know the mechanics well enough to know that they're broken.

    EDIT: This game is addictive like WoW. Compulsive behaviors will creep up on you. Don't try it if you value your time.    … Expand

    This game wasn't all that great to begin with, but the latest changes to this game has made survivor completely unplayable. There is also so many cheaters playing, it's pathetic... The developers don't do a damn thing about the massive amount of cheaters either; they don't care. It's pretty much a cash grab.

Of course its not every case that this reality will come to affect you, its not every game you loose , and its not every game you win, but even playing with teamates the game tends to still be very hard for some players, even if theyre pros. for a killer otherwise, each one of them have a very especific and different way of persuing the survivors, different weapons, different attacks, abilitys and etc. But it gets even worse when we come to talk about the add-ons for killers, some of them can and will be really even more game changing for the killer, and will give a very big advantage to kill all 4 survivors, competitively that is a very hard scenario to counter for the 4 survivors, and even tho thats not the only problem, we also have a very out of sync system when the killer is chasing you and hitting you, causing you die because of some bug or something that was not supposed to happen, plus all the other bugs and problems with the ping in game where for the killer can be really powerful since theres nothing a survivor can do other then run, but wait, did i also tell you that survivors don't run as fast as the killer run? Thats right. I think theres alot of reasons for everyone to hate this game, and that is obvious, the only good thing i can think about dbd is playing a custom match with friends and using all the fun perks where you do as much as possible to make the killer angry, because thats the only thing you can do to "counter" the killer or gain up time for your teamates to be able to escape, In general its not a bad game, but competitively, its totally unbalenced, unsyncronized , bad hitboxes, alot of bugs that can and will get you killed in the middle of a chase… Expand

At the end game, people would insult and say BRUTAL and unacceptable things - even for Internet - and go unpunished.

    The more toxic the game is, the more money and comments people post, that´s by developers of the game want people to get pissed at how unfair is the game for certain roles and new players.    … Expand

    Free drop on the Epic Store. Wow you know those old horror movies are cheaply made schlock right? This game encaspluates all that perfectly. It looks cheap and it's pure schlock for sure. They nailed the formula for sure. Right off to play an actual good game, laters.

    Something instantly didnt feel right when playing this game: i think its the movement and the action speed. I still gave it a chance but i felt so overwhelmed with all the unlocks / perks the slugish unlock pace etc. Maybe there is a good game hidden beneath but its not for me.

Public queues are a flaming pile of rotten horse manure. Frustration is the only thing you're guaranteed to experience if you play this with randoms.

    Custom Matches, on the other hand, are a breath of fresh air. The pressure to progress is lifted. Every perk and item is unlocked for everyone. The toxic community who taunt your every move and spam racial slurs in post-game chat on an hourly basis is locked out. The MTX suddenly seems a lot more reasonable now it's not associated with hundreds of hours of grinding per purchase. The action suddenly becomes fun! You and your friends will probably have a pretty good time if you spend a few hours together in voice chat, laughing and joking and just enjoying yourselves without the pressure to progress dogging your every move.

    Which just goes to underline how completely the developers have mismanaged the public queues and progression systems. Never pay full price for this, and make sure you know people who have it because you don't ever EVER want to hit that "Ready" button with strangers.    … Expand

    I remember when the game was actually fun, the perks were strong and useful, the devs weren't scared to add strong things and the community wasn't so toxic, but those days are long gone, I wouldn't recommend this mess at all even to my worst enemy.

    Now all they can do is push out unbalanced, uninspired killers that are literally pay to win with broken abilities that require no brain function to use and win. As a killer you will be either bullied without a chance to fight back because survivors have flashlights and work very well together resulting in you just walking around the map for the whole game or the CLASSIC: chase, hit, chase, down, pick up, hook, repeat x10 with use of abilities sometimes. As a survivor you will most likely get camped and sniped, no the perks won't save you, no the devs won't save you, no, your teammates won't save you, There is a high chance that most of the time you will have no fun, literally a coinflip matchmaking because the rank doesn't matter. The game was very, VERY unbalanced at the time but, it was a lot more fun to play. Why you ask? Because at that time a shop with cosmetics didn't exist and devs weren't making this game competitive. Yes, you heard me right, BHVR is making DBD which started as a scary party game into a e-sports competitive show. Also they're prioritizing cosmetics over bug fixes and patches. Did you know that in DBD they're bugs and errors that didn't get fixed since launch? You kinda get the picture how the devs are treating this game.

    Another big problem with this game is the community. In every game you will find a player that will be bashing the opposite role in the post-game chat. It doesn't matter if they did good or played fair, salty killers/survivors will send you awful comments in almost every game.

    Now, let's talk about killers that where released lately. The most efficient way of escaping is a strategy called "looping". As the name suggests you're running around a certain tile that is randomly generated on the map in a certain way that makes it so you stay as far away from the killer as possible. So, know that we know what looping is lets go back to the new killers. Since 2020 almost every killer that was released was punishing you when you where trying to loop, so the only strategy to them is to stop mind-gaming and trying to loop, but to only run forward and drop every pallet early. This play style is very boring and un-fun for both sides. There is no mind-gaming and trying to trick the opponent, it's just holding "W". This is very unhealthy for the game as it removes the fun element of the game which was outsmarting the opponent. There is also no skill cap on the killers that have this play style which means that anybody can pick them up and in few games can start destroying teams in a matter of seconds. Oh, you have over 1,000 hrs as survivor? Don't care you get downed in 10-30 seconds. Oh, almost forgot about survivors. When you play against this type of killer the best strategy on the survivor side is to do generators as fast as possible since chases last around 10-30 seconds, maybe over a minute if you're really good or the killer is pretty bad. That play style is surprise, surprise extremely BORING. To repair a generator alone you need about 80 seconds (I think), imagine doing it 2 or 3 times. There is no skill involved which is a real spit in the face to the people that where putting hours and hours on survivor trying to get good.

    Now the devs are either releasing a really strong killer that has little to no counter play, or a really weak killer that nobody wants to play and is a laugh stock in the entire community.

    If you are thinking about maining this game I don't really recommend it. There are over 20 characters on the survivor and killer side, everybody has unique 3 perks. If you want to have all perks you will need to grind and grind and grind, through a very, VERY tedious and outdated leveling system. When you purchase the game you only get 7 survivor and 5 killers the rest is DLC :) You will have to spend a lot of money if you want to experience DBD fully. Also, don't buy it on the PS4, XBOX1 or Nintendo Switch, the game runs awful on last gens consoles and looks really AWFUL on the Nintendo Switch.    … Expand

Other "problem" most 0 ratings have is camping/tunneling. This is not games fault, it is the player who decided to do so. The game is very different from others now popular multiplayer titles like League of Legends and you need to put the time in and learn the mechanics and only than review it and not saying after 10 hours killers are OP only because you didn't learn to play it PROPERLY. But yes DBD has some issues, mostly consisting of hit scan and unfair map design. In defense of developers past few months they are working to fix those problems with quite good results. Overall if you have group of friends to play with and you learn how the game works it's fun experience with high skill ceiling so it may hook you in for hundreds potentially thousands of hours.… Expand

There have been zero attempts to solve a very prominent (albeit complex) issue regarding survive with friends. The game is no balance. Survivors got a lot of fun perks in the new patch and killers got nothing. Because the devs know the player base is 80% survivor (actual stat btw). It doesn't seem like the dedicate any thought into how to make killer less grating because it's a statistically small portion of their player base even though there wouldn't even be a game without killer players.     The game is riddled with bugs. And with every patch new ones are added and some of them ignored completely for years. New perks, mechanics and "revamps" break balance and immersion every time. Only to be nerfed again when the devs realize (much later than the players) that they were a bad idea like this - but often they dont even realize that.
    Matchmaking is still very bad (even with crossplay now). It gets new and casual players and rank one tryhard killers mixed up. And you still have to wait up to 15 minutes for a game.

    The balance is horrible. Every patch it gets worse. I recently saw a bunch of old footage from 2016. It was a completely different game.
    What instantly jumped into my eyes was that it looked far creepier and scarier than nowadays.
    The lighting was much better (darker and moodier), the maps were much darker, the grass was much higher, the view distance was low, very blurry in the distance and very creepy, there were far more pallets and open windows. Hopping windows was actually useful and not a free hit for killers, because it wasnt as slow as it is now.

    The lighting was already bad for a long time, but recently they revamped the maps completely and it turned the whole game into a joke, because a lot of maps now are as bright as day and plain as a salt desert. So that killers can see you even better in the now high view distance. But of course they also made totems much harder to find by not only making ridiculous hiding spots, but also by turning them very dark.

    As a honest survivor player (who doesnt cheese in any way) you got f*cked extremely hard in these last years. If you now want to be good at this game you either have to find a good coordinated group or learn to be a toxic sh*t yourself and just loop the killer (which turns this creepy horror game into a clown circus).
    Some killer perks are so ridiculous, that they completely ruined the game and made people act more and more like selfish bastards and force survivors to play a certain and predictable way for killers (and of course more and more overpowered abilities in revamps and new killers to even negate the only options survivors have). They are so powerful that they have become a meta that 90% of killers use. Theres not much diversity in gameplay anymore because of all that.
    And of course survivor perks most of the time got massively nerfed and new perks for them are 95% completely useless. It went that far that the devs openly tolerated exploits that the killers thought would "fix" "overpowered" survivor perks. Like Decisive Strike for example (just got nerfed again, because the killers kept crying). It was even ok to "dribble" the DS survivor to the next hook, making it impossible to use DS - a wasted perk slot. Yet after a patch they made it impossible to do that. Yet their TOS clearly states that exploiting is a banable offense.

    The devs are a reflection of their own playerbase. They act arrogant, insult their own customers live on air and ban people on their forums if they criticize them for their toxic behavior or dare to treat them the way they treat their customers. They even once had a contest among each other on their stream to "not insult customers", which they failed miserably. That should tell you enough.

    Then they finally implemented dedicated servers. That took them almost a year after the promise (which was said to never happen for years before that). And then what we got was even laggier and buggier than their P2P netcode. And its still extremely bad. Sometimes so bad that I just cant believe what just happened, like the killer hitting me from literally 5 meters away and having 5 meter arms swinging through the window I just hopped through, or hitting me through the dropped pallet or teleporting on my side of the pallet, or hitting me with a range weapon even though I am long gone behind a wall.

    Now they have added a new killer which is just ridiculous to look at. Some flashy K-Pop singer with green hair and pink clothes. And a Korean survivor that looks like the most western looking European you can find... Good job! To be honest, he looks far too much like the Joker, which makes me think that they tried to get a deal with Warner Brothers to get the Joker in it, but they said no and so they decided to put their own "Joker" in it. Which failed horribly, because he is just completely ridiculous.

    Oh yeah, they also "improved" the animations and in-game GUI. Nobody asked for it, but they did it anyway and its horrible and nobody likes it, so they tried to fix it, but only a bit. Its still horrible.

    TL;DR:
    The game idea is exceptional, but the devs are the worst Ive ever seen (Ive been playing games for decades) and ruined it with their utter incompetence.    … Expand

    dbd USED to be awesome (in a lot of ways for sure) but one of the best things, to me, is i dont let the small fry nonsense get to me. re queue, get off, smoke a cigarette..i dont see why people get SO mad at what isnt technically t baggin unless youre ghostface really. anways i digress.
    that was my favorite aspect. especially being mainly solo queue player. BUT i just    review remix.

    i refuse to support this dev team a penny more simply due to this loser's ego and delusions of grandeur as a steam discussion mod for a game hangin on for dear life.

    OBJECTIVELY
    this game got...lost down a wrong turn years ago.
    all it is is a cash grab with micro transactions THAT SUCK ASS btw, really no fundamentally genuine attempts at balance, as in, they would rather push a new killer, release them wit bugs, then fix em, and patch it. or any other number of genius ideas that has came out of this game.

Thats not to say that dead by daylight is killer-sided by any means. survivors can outplay a killer easily if they use their resources correctly. But survivors don't have this exploitable option.     Dead by Daylight is a missed opportunity. Despite an intriguing concept, the final result is flawed by a lot of small problems. You could still enjoy it, but in order to do so you should get over a terrible netcode, a grind-based progression system, and all too random rewards.

    Disastrous scoring system encourages some players to cooperate with the killer instead of running from him and reduces promising gameplay to nonsense (e.g. when the killer picks you up, throws you into a trap, resets it, picks you up, throws you into a trap, resets it, picks you up, throws you into a trap, resets it, picks you up...).
