    It's an awesome game if you're into realism and teamwork. The 4 included maps are amazing, and don't lose their value. Some have complained about too much recoil, and don't realize that it's not very realistic to spray on full auto and hope to hit people. When used properly and strategically, all the weapons are deadly and effective. It's just a great game, It's an awesome game if you're into realism and teamwork.     For fans of the old DOD, it doesnt get much better than this. For fans of WW2 era tactical combat games it doesnt get much better than this. For people who enjoy the intensity of an online firefight it doesnt get much better than this. Rockets fly, wobbling slightly in their flightpath before they impact to devastating effect. A snipers bullet whizzes past your head and strikes your buddy For fans of the old DOD, it doesnt get much better than this. He goes down in a crumpled heap as you dive for cover. Mgs firing out of a thick cloud of smoke, tracers flying just over your head as you cower in a shellhole. The last stand at the Alamo, you and three allies spraying bullets at a crowd of rushing enemies, praying that reinforcments reach you in time. Picking off people in the street with your rifle before a rifle grenade lands at your feet and blows you to high heaven. Cooking off a grenade so it explodes a split second before landing in a crowd of enemies. the courage, the heroism, the carnage and the intensity of small unit action has never been as good as day of defeat source. no game since the first dod compares to it. hope i see yall on the field.… Expand

    This game is amazing- The excellent gameplay you'll find in Day of Defeat combined with the superior graphics of the Source Engine- An easy 10!

    Simply amazing. The physics in this game are unbelievable and the gameplay is fast-paced and fun, definitly the best game on steam right now.

    This is my Favorite game. I don't know why but I lose hours and hours playing this gem! The graphic improvement from the prior version is awesome. All in all Its pace and gameplay are better than any other shooter I have played.

    I'll never go playing a other game. Not expensive and you can go online 24/7 and play and play. If you are tired of playing the in same towns just look for custom maps.

    For some reason this game never gets boring. I think the player community (not much hacking at all) keeps this game as fun as it is. I own many FPS's, but this is my favorite.

    How does this get a worse rating than Red Orchestra? This game is by far the best WWII game on the market! I will never play any other WWII game, multiplayer or singleplayer! Nothing can compare to the excellent graphics, sounds, weapons, and realism in general.

    Great game, though I'm laming FPS The only negative point is that you really need to play on a server with the MG's & snipers limited, because when team is losing they all go start laming with snipers or mg's

    Great game. Just barely lives up to the original, but still a great play. Nice to see them release regular updates for the game, adding new maps and game content for free unlike some other games. Great team based play, a good team strategy greatly helps, and the game is usually most fun to play with groups like clans or guilds.

    DoD was the best WWII game I have ever played, and when DoD:S was released using the new source engine, wow it blew me away, it's much better then any of the WWII games on the market right, I even just tried Red Orchestra, and wow that game sucks so much compared to this, graphics, gameplay, sound and all.

    Awesome game, great graphics, sounds. could be a bit better with more maps, but the game is so great I still play it alot. I would recommed DoD: Source over Counter Strike: Source anyday.

    This game it good, and for peaople who say this game should be more realiticly paced, it would take 5 to 12 days to take a village like the one in kalt. 12 friggin days of sittin on a crappy chair in yer 2 bot 9" moniter (depending opun how awsome you are) By the way, kalt means "cold" in german.

    This game has been one of the best online World War II games around since its inception back in the late 90's. After so many years and some MAJOR game updates and changes to play style it still provides many hours of enjoyment.

    Despite lacking depth, its probably one of the most atmospheric WWII shooters out. Unlike its slow-paced sister Counter-Strike, DoD offers fast-paced, hardcore combat. Bullets whiz, men fall and grenades explode around you. Truly atmospheric. The guns may be have a high recoil, but this is more of a tactical balance than a problem. You can't just gun 'n' run.

    OMG!!!! This game is the bomb... the graphics are way good, the gameplay is good...!! Hectic game!! Could spend 6 hours straight playing this game and u would't get bored.

    This game has gotten really great with some bugs fixed and wider selection of maps. There's also much less newies floating about, and finding a good server with skilled players is always easy and really makes it interesting. Definitely my favorite game to play at the moment, and has been for a while.

    I like this game so much... its like a new version of Call of Duty 3! This game is so good. Good job Valve! Continue your perfect games! I play Counter-strike: source, Half Life 2 Deatmatch and Day Of Defeat: source and I have that you guys (valve) make a game like GTA 4 ... that would be great!

All the maps are well made and at any point there are 3 or more directions where from u may get killed. The huge range of maps and weapons enables anyone to enjoy themselves wether they prefer sitting back with a machine gun, or in the faces of the enemy with a Thompson or MP40. Full of clans and communities, ranging from leagues teams to realism units. Make it your own.

    This game is great. Great graphs, great weapon and world sounds, and with cool atmosphere...The gaeplay is very realistic, and the maps are so big that you can lost on it...I think is better then other famous games...

    The sound of machine gun fire over the sandbags you crouch under is amazing. If you play the game enough you will even notice that every single object in the maps are placed perfectly, and it balances the map. While the German weapons are faster and have more capacity, the US ones are focused more on accuracy, and this also adds to the intensity.     Best FPS game out there, easy to learn and very enjoyable to play. Lots of servers to play in. No monthly fees, very cheap. May not be accurate as other newer FPS simulation wise but hey it is a GAME!

    Gorgeous looking game...the lack of official maps isnt a problem. Most people choose not to play the customs as much (overall) anyways. The official maps that do come out are great, just give the game some time to build itself up even more. Probably one of the greatest applications to $20 I've ever spent.

As an player of DoD Original since its beta days, the game has come quite a long ways and on the new Source engine, only goes further. Gameplay is more fast paced, realistic, and of course more visually stunning than the Original.     I give this a 10 because its gamplay is fast paced and dosnt take forever also the fact that u get to respawn. Graphics and sounds are awsome.     Definitely one of the most overlooked games around. Admittedly at release it was lacking, but now that it has many maps and updates, it is an incredible game. You feel like you are fighting in a real conflict, like you have something more vested in winning than "pwning n00bs", with that and respawning, it offers many things that CS and CS:S do not.

    Greatest WW2 game out. DOD:S puts COD 2 to shame. the graphics are amazing, the gameplay is amazing, omg this game is amazing. If you havent played it you better go try it cause your missing out.

    Best online game I played so far. I love this game more than Counterstrike : source. For the moment there is only one game that still could beat Day of Defeat source; Red Orchestra. Looking forward to play that game.

    I play DoD:S all the time. It is a very strategy oriented game while still focusing on the individual skill of the player. There are a few flaws, but I am willing to look past them. To get the full experience from this game you need to search for the right server. Playing with the right people makes all the difference and enhances the gameplay in many ways.

    I love the game, i played all counter strike, both day of defeat and some more games from steam, i realy love day of defeat source. i been playing it over 2 years now, and ill never get bored of it. well done.

    A great game to same the least! Day of Defeat: Source is extremely fast-paced, the gametypes require players to depend on each-other and work as a team, the visuals are gorgeous, and the maps are realistic and well-designed. The only real downside to this game is the number of stock maps available, but for the price the customer pays, it is well worth it!

    Great game. I can sit for hours playing this. Its not boring like CS because you don't have to wait long when you die, and the graphics and physics ROCK! I have bought the package: CS:S, DoD:S and DM:S. I just play DoD:S now because it's the best of the three.

    I expect to be playing DoD a lot more than "Couterstrike: Source"... I recommend DoD:S to the multiplayer action crowd, but don't come crying to me when things start getting stale.

    While the game still needs some patching, and is unfortunately not DoD as we know it, this is still an absolutely fantastic package; those after a new multiplayer shooter can’t really go wrong with this one. Oh, and expect this score to go up over time as Valve patches out various problems.
