    This is the best game I ever played, it's just like the old game but a little bit better. So it gets -->10/10 ( But I still love the old game ! )

    This game has gotten really great with some bugs fixed and wider selection of maps. There's also much less newies floating about, and finding a good server with skilled players is always easy and really makes it interesting. Definitely my favorite game to play at the moment, and has been for a while.

    This game is great! Not only is the community content a plus, the game physics are wonderful. The admin controls are friendly. The only downside seems to be ping issues when going head to head with any user having the better pc affecting the outcome.

    I like this game so much... its like a new version of Call of Duty 3! This game is so good. Good job Valve! Continue your perfect games! I play Counter-strike: source, Half Life 2 Deatmatch and Day Of Defeat: source and I have that you guys (valve) make a game like GTA 4 ... that would be great!

    The first thing that strikes me about this game is the awesome sounds , the ambience and speed of the game keeps you on your feet . All the maps are well made and at any point there are 3 or more directions where from u may get killed. Teamplay is essential and if the teamspeak feature is used judiciously any newbie team can overrun a team of pros,l earning curve is easy ,but real hard to master, unlike other games the experienced gamers can be taken down with good gameplay,at an average u can kill 2 people before dying, but u respawn in an instant keeping the action nonstop and fun.     One of the best online games i have ever played. The huge range of maps and weapons enables anyone to enjoy themselves wether they prefer sitting back with a machine gun, or in the faces of the enemy with a Thompson or MP40. Full of clans and communities, ranging from leagues teams to realism units. Make it your own.

    This game is great. Great graphs, great weapon and world sounds, and with cool atmosphere...The gaeplay is very realistic, and the maps are so big that you can lost on it...I think is better then other famous games...

    The sound of machine gun fire over the sandbags you crouch under is amazing. If you play the game enough you will even notice that every single object in the maps are placed perfectly, and it balances the map. While the German weapons are faster and have more capacity, the US ones are focused more on accuracy, and this also adds to the intensity.     Best FPS game out there, easy to learn and very enjoyable to play. Lots of servers to play in. No monthly fees, very cheap. May not be accurate as other newer FPS simulation wise but hey it is a GAME!

On the other hand, the guns are realistically inaccurate, which means you can't snipe someone with the Thompson that is more than 3 meters away. At least This is a great game, all around.     The game is very addicting. I think it was heavily influenced by the movie "Saving Private Ryan" in the way it sounds and feels. The physics of the game, the distant gunshot sounds, the shellshock that you get after a grenade goes off near you, the historical accuracy of the weapons (you can't get a headshot with a handgun standing 100 ft away like you can in other WWII shooters), The game is very addicting. I think it was heavily influenced by the movie "Saving Private Ryan" in the way it sounds and feels.     this is one of the best fps online and the community is freandly..... but the only reason i gave it 9/10 is because valve keeps on cangeing things but if thay did one big update to give us more wepons and skins and then it would get 10/10 from me

    It is a near perfection in the WW2 games as it perfectley blends realism and the "all hell" aspect of real world war II battles. I found all the maps to be quite enjoyable as long as you join the right server, and to kill with any of the weapons is oh so sastisying.

    It's a good game but lacks a lot of content and has only 1 gameplay mode. More maps would greatly benefit the overal depth of the gameplay and quality of the game.

    Gorgeous looking game...the lack of official maps isnt a problem. Most people choose not to play the customs as much (overall) anyways. The official maps that do come out are great, just give the game some time to build itself up even more. Probably one of the greatest applications to $20 I've ever spent.

    A very brutal game with a harsh learning curve, made all the more satisfying when you begin to realize the vast potential for tactics on the (unfortunately few) detailed and warren like maps. It's a refreshing change from CS that's for sure.

    Excellent gameplay but few included maps which has been quickly remedied by the community. Although it does have a steep learning curve when first starting out, it's a great feeling once you can slaughter the opposition with any weapon including your trusty shovel!

    This game is pretty good. The gameplay is awesome. It needs some more developement in terms of more and bigger maps, map objectifs, and more classes. But the maps that are out there are extraordinary. What i don't like about this game is that you die so fast, and the kills are so cheap.

    I give this a 10 because its gamplay is fast paced and dosnt take forever also the fact that u get to respawn. Graphics and sounds are awsome.     Definitely one of the most overlooked games around. Admittedly at release it was lacking, but now that it has many maps and updates, it is an incredible game. You feel like you are fighting in a real conflict, like you have something more vested in winning than "pwning n00bs", with that and respawning, it offers many things that CS and CS:S do not.

Second all around the game play is fun and exciting listening to the realistic sounds and other features. But the only fall backs of this game are minor details.     Best online game I played so far. I love this game more than Counterstrike : source. For the moment there is only one game that still could beat Day of Defeat source; Red Orchestra. Looking forward to play that game.

    I play DoD:S all the time. It is a very strategy oriented game while still focusing on the individual skill of the player. There are a few flaws, but I am willing to look past them. To get the full experience from this game you need to search for the right server. Playing with the right people makes all the difference and enhances the gameplay in many ways.

    I love the game, i played all counter strike, both day of defeat and some more games from steam, i realy love day of defeat source. i been playing it over 2 years now, and ill never get bored of it. well done.

    A great game to same the least! Day of Defeat: Source is extremely fast-paced, the gametypes require players to depend on each-other and work as a team, the visuals are gorgeous, and the maps are realistic and well-designed. The only real downside to this game is the number of stock maps available, but for the price the customer pays, it is well worth it!

    I think this is one of the best team based games out there. It forces the group to actually work as a team. And the lone wolf is really only a distraction. I focuses on Flag captures and not kills. So you are really forced to get objectives if you really want to win.

    Great game. I can sit for hours playing this. Its not boring like CS because you don't have to wait long when you die, and the graphics and physics ROCK! I have bought the package: CS:S, DoD:S and DM:S. I just play DoD:S now because it's the best of the three.

    DoD: S is a great game. It involves Team-work, individual skill, and knowledge of each of the maps to accomplish the in-game objectives effectively. It is a very fun game for public playing, but also very good for competitive play for the more serious/interested. The WWII genre isn't always widely accepted anymore, but being a WWII Buff only makes me like the game more. I can't DoD: S is a great game. It involves Team-work, individual skill, and knowledge of each of the maps to accomplish the in-game objectives effectively. It is a very fun game for public playing, but also very good for competitive play for the more serious/interested. The WWII genre isn't always widely accepted anymore, but being a WWII Buff only makes me like the game more. I can't compare this game to many others (Especially not Counter-Strike) because of the difference of gameplay, as I see it. Bottom line, it's the best Online FPS game on the market right now, with very few flaws, the biggest being the unstable developers platform and the minimal amount of "Official" Maps. If you need a new game or are just looking for some cheap fun, pick up DoD: S.… Expand

    It is really fast-paced. The graphics and audio are alot better than Half Life 2 and CS:Source and the game is pretty well balanced. I like how the guns are pretty inaccurate but deal a lot of damage. This causes for some nice firefights. Greatly improved from DOD (the original) as grenades are not overpowering as it use to be.

    Its so fast paced and so involved that if you stop to take a breather, you'll be flanked. League play takes it to a whole other level of intense warfare and strategic movement. If you like to be a lone gunmen who depends on no one and nothing....this game is not for you. Teamwork and communication are the key to being successful in Day Of Defeat:Source.

    A worthy successor to Day of Defeat, the reduced, simple, fun classes, hectic action, and arguably the best Source engine visuals to date, this game deserves some play time by all first person shooter fans.

    Anga R you obviously didn't take the time to play this game. It's one of the best multiplayer games available and at it's price of only $10 is unbeatable value. When players are hit they look funny? This game uses the same engine as CS:Source so if you're complaining about them looking like string puppets you can say the same thing for CS:Source. Unlike CS, this game actually involves team work to progress and the weapons recoil is much more realistic which you have to learn to control. If anything CS is less dynamic out of the two. Don't get me wrong, CS:Source is equally an awesome game (both are addictive and good value for money) but CS is definitely the 'simpler' one out of the two as both T & CT are practically identical with the exception of a few weapons and both use the same voice commands. That's not much variety. Either way if you don't like this game then maybe you just don't like the WW2 theme. You shouldn't really compare the two because they're different games so overall while I said all that stuff above, they're both great games and since this review is for DoD I'll say that it's one the best games to buy. Oh and Anga how can you possibly refund the game since the game is bought on Steam. You can't...so maybe you're pretending you played it.… Expand

    This game rocks! I am a World War fan, and I am quite happy with this game... some weapons may be a bit inacurite but who am I to be picky? For some reson, I find this game to be easy for me.....maby it's because this game has gamemodes that I know.....like capture the flag or team deathmatch, but I do miss the old css surfing maps =~D (I wish some serverds would use them in DoD:S)

    It's a very good game with good graphics. The best thing about the game is the accuracy of the weopons unlike any other shooter game u cant just take your handgun and shoot someone 5 miles away in the head the accuracy is much more realistic than other games.

DOD is certainly different from many Valve's online shooters in that you have to physically move your mouse down to suppress the recoil.     While most people are sick of, and/or gettting sick of World War II games, I cannot get enough of them. If I were to have to choose between Counter-Strike: Source and this, I would pick this. If I were to pick between the singleplayer portions of Call of Duty 4 or Call of Duty: World at War, I would pick World at War. Same goes for Call of Duty's 2 and 3 (4 wins for multiplayer). The reason this doesnt get a 10 is because there is no singleplayer (it is a multiplayer game, so it's not that big of a deal) and because there isn't enough variety of weapons and armies compared to the original Day of Defeat Either way, I prefer this one to the original.… Expand

    Well this game isnt perfect. However, it is one of the most beautiful shooters out there. It also demands a great deal of skill to be succesful. You will likely spend 40+ hours at it before you can really even begin to rack up the kills. To be good at this game is to truly call yourself a gamer.

    Basicaly the best game ever. I love camping at wermacht spawn with my thompson. The bullets whizzing past your ears and the sound of mg42sin the backround is great.

    I love this game. It relaxed me if there is good and thinking teamplayers. I'll need more different fields.

    Stunning.. simply stunning. But you need a high end graphics card to really enjoy the stunning. So if there was any bad ratings, go get a graphics card! :P

    Well, the game itself is good, great graphics, sound and the germans actual Speak GERMAN, not like those crappy german accents some games put, how cool is that! The killing is very addictive, and hearing and seeking an enemies helmet pop off is great. But the only disappointment was that there is too few content in it, with only 6 maps, and fewer classes then the Original Day of Defeat. A lot less variety and chose, I wish Valve could of atleast added all the original content from the old Day of Defeat, (all the guns, maps, and classes) and I even expected new content since most new games offer more then the original. It kinda even feels like a downgrade, less maps, less guns, and the Classes have been screwed up. The game feels as if Valve just enhanced the graphics and Source added to DoD and make money off of it cheaply. But other then decreased amount of guns, content, and maps, this game is fun. The items and stuff laying on the map can sometimes be troublesome, and not cool with physics, because sometimes they do get in your way. Rating Total 8.3 Visuals: 9.2 out of 10. Gameplay: 8.8 out of 10. Sound: 9.4 out of 10. Sequal to DoD: 6 out of 10. (this rating is to see if it was a good sequal.)… Expand

    This game is one of the best WWII shooter games I've ever played. The multiplayer is amazing and smooth, the weapons are great and you will actually want to be on the german Wehrmacht team.

    I have play this game before Simon. And I say that this is a solid and awesome game. The poor collision? The game is very well done and you should be ashmed. Anyway the graphicis a great the glare is more realistic and it only took like what about an hour to download on my type of computer.     People that compare this to newer WWII games are doing it wrong. If a new WWII game isn't better than I wouldn't rate it [the new one] very high at all. For its time DoD is very good. Like Counter-Strike there is a small learning curve and there seems to be a bit of a botting problem but not too serious.     My online FPS history started with the original UT and later UT3. Both excellent yet strategically void games. Then I tried CS:S for a while, only to conclude that it is simply a broken game: Barely any strategy going on, dominated by aim grunts and rather backward balancing (better players get more weapons and armor?!). It's a pity that DoD:S never got the wide market appeal that it deserves, even though the game is excellent without it too of course. I give it a 9 because perfection doesn't exist.… Expand

    I expect to be playing DoD a lot more than "Couterstrike: Source"... I recommend DoD:S to the multiplayer action crowd, but don't come crying to me when things start getting stale.

    While the game still needs some patching, and is unfortunately not DoD as we know it, this is still an absolutely fantastic package; those after a new multiplayer shooter can’t really go wrong with this one. Oh, and expect this score to go up over time as Valve patches out various problems.
