Darwin's Paradox is an enjoyable puzzle platformer from start to finish. The platforming feels good, while the puzzle aspects aren't overwhelming to the point that it detracts from the journey. The octopus abilities are well implemented and don't feel difficult to use, and the overall journey feels like it moves along at a good clip without meandering for too long. With a gorgeous presentation in place, there's little to gripe about, and fans of puzzle platforming who value experience over challenge will love Darwin's Paradox.

Despite being short, Darwin's Paradox is a game that has a lot of heart. It’s very fun to play, intense at times, and very emotional. The traversal options and various octopus’ abilities are very exciting to use, and the best part is that you have a plethora of different platforming challenges and puzzles along the way. The game’s ending was a standout for me, but the entire experience feels great and it’s really well polished. I’ve always enjoyed cinematic platform games, and Darwin's Paradox is certainly one of the standouts in this genre. It’s very well-made, it has excellent attention to detail, and the environmental comedy is strong in this one, too. Hopefully we’ll see more of Darwin, because this story feels like the beginning of a potentially long series of adventures. I’m in if that’s the case, because I like the world and characters, and I want to see more of it.

Darwin's Paradox is a relatively short and sweet adventure, completable in a day if you really go at it. For the 7 hours it lasted, I had an enjoyable time, despite a couple of frustrations. Darwin makes for an interesting (and somewhat cute) protagonist, with a unique moveset that makes you think outside of the usual platforming box in this beautiful world.

Darwin's Paradox! may be here for a good time, not a long time, but what a good time it is. Bringing classic platformers up to more modern standards, it proves a short, sweet, mechanically sound experience that I'll gladly take more of if ZDT Studio wants to bring this plucky octopus back to our screens.

Although the difficulty curve varies greatly, Darwin's Paradox has become one of the platform games I've enjoyed the most in recent years. Since there's no new MGS game on the horizon, I'd suggest giving this "Tactical Octopus Action" a chance.

It certainly looks the part, thanks to some gorgeous artwork and animation that adds a layer of polish and charm to the game that just about camouflages some of the its weaker design elements. Fans of the genre will want to get ‘kraken’ with this one.
