All so a lot of the rpg element was removed and feels more like action adventure with looter shooter thrown in there for good measure.
Do not get me wrong the overall game was fun and i enjoyed it but lacked a lot of what was promised.

It feels like CDPR put too much effort into trying to keep this game pretty and big, without making in game systems big and fun to play. Cyberpunk in current state would have worked fine as linear rpg, sadly , and to be honest.

However in its current state it’s a buggy and underdeveloped mess that should have been delayed at least 2 more times.

It doesn’t matter if you have Keanu Reeves, or a great story, great romances and arcs with closure to each, when your economy and AI are all over the place.

It doesn’t matter if you have good hacking abilities when you can’t even equip them all or find ways to utilize them because your enemies are re-used, t-posing sandbags.

It doesn’t matter if the gunplay is good when the guns are unbalanced and unfinished.

This game isn’t finished, and that’s putting it lightly. Seriously, people forget that CD pulled this **** with Witcher 3 and now rush to defend that game. Again, I don’t think this game is terrible, as a majority of its systems still work and I’ve had a good to great time with it. However, this isn’t ****ing finished at all. From both a technical and systematic standpoint this game is an absolute disaster, but as an open world narrative adventure it’s absolutely beautiful.

Due its problems and potential, Cyberpunk 2077 lands at a solid 50/100. Until further notice, this game may be enjoyable but is ****ing unplayable. Don’t even think about buying this on a console either, you’re going to burn your house down.

    This is my personal opinion.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a very mediocre and very overhyped game. I didn't wait any revolution or even something special, but I wanted the level of Witcher 3 (fantastic main story and sidequests).

I cannot even name it "quests", it's some damn grind of cyberpsychos. In the Witcher 3 (even in Witcher 2) every sidequest was a little masterpiece with it's own good written story. That's what Cyberpunk doesn't have and that's something I can't accept.
Atmosphere, music and pretty good main story basically save this game. Without them it would be 0/10, but as for me - it's 6/10 right now.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn’t want to be hard on this game, but I feel like giving it a five is pretty generous score after my first play of the main story and fair about of side quests. My play-through was done on a ps5. The Good: 1. The world of night city is amazing and is easily the best part of the game. I appreciate the detail, intense and abundant color and verticality of the world. I know there were concerns about map size, but this game feels big. I feel like there’s so much I haven’t explored and CDPR nailed the “feel” of the city. 2. Missions are generally well thought out, and they often go beyond your usual fetch quests, which is a great enhancement from most open world games. It seems like CDPR is finally trying to get on the Rockstar level of meaningful story and mission content. 3. The game feels immersive, and I love the story. It’s paced well, shows emotions, and creates connections to characters. 4. Weapon variety is nice and shooting most times feels really good. This is hard in a first person shooter, so really enjoyed it. The Bad: 1. This game and the main quest line is flat out too short. Way, Way, too short. The game takes a great story that is paced wonderfully and starts to rush the ending majorly. It sort of hollows out what is a great story up to that point. It’s Rage2 style short and underwhelming at the end, which says something. 2. The side quests are just too much, as you get constant video “calls” that you can’t ignore, characters will text you that you never connected with (like you’re old friends) and the content is just literally trash-dumped onto you the entire game. 3. The progression systems and menus are designed and conceptualized but just flat out not-executed in game. The game spends no time balancing you between the main story and side missions, which leaves you often with no or limited money for upgrades at the Ripperdoc, and the game literally doesn’t explain the menu or crafting to you. So you can make it to the end game without a ton of significant upgrades because the main quest line is so short and you’re underpowered for pretty much the whole thing. 4. The Bugs- this game wasn’t ready to come out. It will crash in the middle of missions, doors will stop opening, characters won’t animate. It’s maybe the buggiest release I’ve seen since Anthem. 5. The game doesn’t give us much new stuff. No mew mission structure (although the missions are fun) typical open world stuff. 6. Boss fights are terrible. Summary: Great game visually, that is ambitious with the world its created. That has come at a cost though, as its one of the buggiest games I’ve ever seen at launch, and the main story is way too short for a game of this type, with no “new” first person rpg elements present. The sequel of this game stands to be much better. Expand

Gunplay is nice, graphics look (mostly) great, hacking is a nice addition to the gameplay, driving is pretty bad.

When comparing what we got to what we were promised this game is a straight up lie. In any other industry there would be outrage and lawsuits like crazy. How can y'all trust these reviewers that say it's buggy but give in a great review. I think this will be a great game, I have an AMD processor and had to stop playing because it was so frustrating. I'll be back once it is patched and update the score. They just should have released it in 2021 and alot of this bad press would have been avoided.

I'm not even going to talk about how buggy this game is and the bad performance it has, i wish those were the only issues this game has. The AI is as bad as Mafia III if not worse, If you put your bike on the side of the road with enough space for the cars to keep driving they just don't know what to do and stay still, same thing when you shoot, instead of go fast and escape, all of them get out of the vehicle at the same time and lay down like a 2006 game. The police is awful as the always respawn close to you and on your back no matter where you are, either on the middle of the street, a rooftop or a small room and when it comes to shootings they just go running or move without a clear reason, same thing with your teammates if there's any. The city is beautiful but at the same time completely empty as there's nothing you can do apart from main and side quests (you can't even change your hair) so the only thing you have left is go drving around nightcity while trying to complain about how bad the driving on this game is, the wheel turns way too much forcing you to drift and bikes are even worse, there's no way you can fall from it, no matter how fast you go, the crash or how many things you try to climb because it's physics are pretty bad. The backstory is pretty much meaningless like every choice you make in the game apart from the last mission and possible romances. The graphics are pretty good and I enjoyed the story but it's far from the things promised. You barely interact with each gang apart from 1/2 quests with each one, can't customize guns nor cars and because of the loot system it's completely wortless to buy something from a gun shop or a common shop to buy clothes as those are way too expensive and you'll end up looting something better in the next 1/2 hours. The only positive aspects of the game are the graphics, city itself (buildings and neighborhoods) and story. There's too many bad things from this game for me to say and again, I was tryng not to be hyped for this game because it looked so damned good and didn't want to be disappointed but it's just not good, it was all marketing Expand

So much potential here, what a disappointment.
Yes there is some nice eye candy: the lighting, cars, bikes, some buildings... all modeled very well. The character models are nice too. But the interface, and clunkiness of basic functions, such as looting, it's so broken.
They truly did rush this out the door, and it should never have been promised on so many consoles at once. It's

They truly did rush this out the door, and it should never have been promised on so many consoles at once. It's true the install base of PS5/xboxwhatever is not what it needs to be for profits but that can come later. But another sad fact that becomes obvious when you play on PC is that the PC version was not fully optimized for PC. It's close, but really should have stayed separate, if that's even possible.

I finished the main story and half the side missions in about 55hrs. I'll go back and try a different role after another patch or two. Buy a cheap GoG key if you want to try it, Steam is overpriced right now.

Basically, I feel like I get fooled by the premise of the game, not the hype, not the bugs.

    From the marketing, I expect an immersive role-playing game. And because the origin of Cyberpunk is the pen & paper itself. Plus you can create "your V". There was so much hype on how detail you can customize your character (which turns out to be not much). You can choose your "Life path", you can live in the "Night City". But that doesn't matter because;

"V": - although you can customize your look, you won't feel that you play "your V". The dialog choices are just different ways of a preset "V" would say. Don't get me wrong, choices still are made to determine the outcome, but that is it. Look at Mass Effect, Fallout, Outer Worlds, the dialog choices in those games are not only there to pick the outcome, but they also reflect the different personalities of how you want to role-play your character. And by the way, there is no way you can change your appearance after starting the game. I mean "really"? We are in a Cyberpunk world where getting a human enhancement is like going to a dentist. Even in 1890 Red Dead Redemption 2 you at least have a barber...

"Life path" - This is just an addition to the point in the dialog above. Dialog base on the background will pop up in conversation to sometimes help the situation, but that's about it. So, I guess the real difference is the short first part of the start of the game.

"Night City" - I love how it looks. The density. The art and style. But there is just "nothing to do". I know there are loads of side quests. But as I mentioned that I expect the "role-playing", I thought there will be more of a "Night City activities" to do. (Like at least you have hunting/fishing in a fake RPG game like RDR2).

So, if this game would make itself clearer that it will be Wicherpunk 2077. I would not feel let down. Because in Witcher you know you will play as "Geralt". You cannot change his look. The dialog choices are what Geralt would say, just in different ways. You'd know it is a softcore role-playing game that focuses on the story and skills rather than role-plays, and that's nothing wrong with that. That's why Witcher 3 is a great game.

Finally, the good? Basically, the thing that Witcher 3 has done, a good story. That's why I won't rate this as negative. If I didn't get fool by the premise and all the media, it would get a better rating from me. So from this point on, CD Project Red really establish their view of "what is RPG" according to them, and I won't get fooled again.

Considering this title has been advertised as THE next generation RPG, character customisation is mediocre at best...there are no sliders, parts and colour choice is very limited and you can't change your body height and size at all...but you can choose between a small and big penis...I ended up creating a character that I don't like and doesn't feel mine, which in an RPG is pretty bad.Considering this title has been advertised as THE next generation RPG, character customisation is mediocre at best...there are no sliders, parts and colour choice is very limited and you can't change your body height and size at all...but you can choose between a small and big penis...I ended up creating a character that I don't like and doesn't feel mine, which in an RPG is pretty bad.

Night city looks good but as you walk its streets you pass by many cool shops and locations which you can't enter or interact with because they are all fake making the whole experience very disappointing.

Weather effects like rain are very poor, while sunlight is way too strong, especially when you drive a car using the interior camera, it completely blinds you, turning everything that is outside pure white.

NPCs animations range from ok and smooth to stiff, stuttering, and buggy. Filler NPCs are full of bugs and glitches and extremely basic on par with much older games.

NPCs density is no where near the one showed in the trailers (max setting); I've found a plaza where the density was pretty good, but truth is, most of the times you see only 2-4 NPCs or vehicles per street ; also where the density is high, it's very easy to see multiple clones in just a few meters.

Again, they advertised this as THE next generation open world RPG, and yet it is exactly like GTA V, beside the missions there is very little to do or interact with...I guess they are saving the cool stuff for the online version? Because, you know, microtransactions...

The UI is good but there are some very annoying features.
The mouse cursor is a huge blue square with a grid and a minus symbol on it, that completely fails at pointing and selecting things without actually covering them.
If you scroll down while reading a mission and then select another mission the scroll bar doesn't reset, so you have to scroll back up.
When you're inside any menu there is an electronic whistle and a bip sound that repeat every 10 seconds driving you crazy...on the other hand crafting and dismantling are strangely silent.
    Finally shortcuts are not consistent.

    Controls have problems too.
Interacting is done through the F button instead of the classic E and you can't rebind it unless you hack it.
Skipping scenes is done with C, but it's also used for other things, so you might accidentally skip dialogues and scenes.
There is no clear shortcut button to sheathe your weapons nor a walk button.
There is a button to accept phone calls but there isn't one to decline them and if you don't respond because you're busy, the phone call starts anyway.

Cars handling is dreadful...the game is set in the future and yet the cars handle like an automobile from the 80s with very high and soft suspensions, making the car wobbling around like crazy.
Vehicle damage is random and when vehicles crash into each other they bounce around like they are made of plastic. Finally there are no flying vehicles and the interior seat is far too low.

Shooting and melee fighting seem fine, although there are bugs.

Sound effects are okay, while music goes from great and appropriate to absolutely horrendous and out of place. There are radio stations like in GTA, so you can pick the genre you prefer.

The story has been great so far, but something I didn't like at all is that when you're introduced to your first companion, instead of letting you create a bond with him while playing the game, they show you a 1 minute video clip montage of you and him doing activities together forcing his friendship down your throat.

The game is infested with bugs.
I saw NPCs talking with their mouth closed, sliding around, running against walls, stuck in a T pose, playing animations that require objects while said objects are either missing or static or duplicated in mid-air.
I saw NPCs shot in the air Skyrim style, others instantly teleported outside a vehicle and then launched across the sky at light speed while the vehicle kept going in the opposite way.
Vehicles fail their path and crash or run over you and other NPCs.
The police attacked me for no reason even though I was distant and minding my own business.
Running sometimes doesn't make any noise; also if you sprint along the fence of a bridge your character can automatically jump off the bridge committing suicide.
Sometimes when you jump over an object your character is stuck in a landing animation.
The main quest can completely brake, same goes for the radar.
Switching weapons can completely break your hands.
You can kill people sitting in a car from outside through a closed door with a melee weapon.
    Items can glitch preventing looting.

The last time I saw a game this bugged was Fallout 76...

it's not a bad game, but it's not as good as they advertised either, and I honestly don't see how can you call this THE next generation open world RPG when most of the features are barely on par with much older games.

tl;dr: good game made by a lying publisher that needs a NASA computer to run at 60+fps.

If you don't have an RTX card, you won't get a locked 60fps experience. Period. That should tell you something. CDPR straight up lied to consumers (on multiple fronts), hid the real-world state of the game from reviewers and consumers, deliberately lied about how the game runs on 1/4 of the platforms

CDPR straight up lied to consumers (on multiple fronts), hid the real-world state of the game from reviewers and consumers, deliberately lied about how the game runs on 1/4 of the platforms they sold it on (while developing brand deals for customized Cyberpunk versions of those consoles....that can't even run the game), lied about the recommended and minimum PC specs, and still managed to produce a buggy mess of a game that is....fun? No, you didn't read that wrong, it's a good game. It's a really, REALLY cool world with interesting stories, characters, and gameplay. It's just not what we were promised, feature or optimization-wise, and it's a real shame that the majority of people won't be able to actually experience it because it was only optimized for hardware that nobody can currently buy.

I must say I am fairly disappointed, I loved the witcher series and I am usually a fan of the studio. With CP77 it is different. I can't count the number of bugs I have encountered. The bugs, however, is not my only reason for the low score. The world is beautiful and vast, the attention to small details is astonishing, but the game itself feels off in some way. The AI is horrible, constantly doing weird things. I don't feel the background story is really well made and the lifepaths seem to make a very minuscule difference. The loot system is bloated, with too many items dropping and just not very well made and polished all around. The music is good, but too much modern rap and celebrity nonsense! I would have given it a 7, as a mediocre game, but releasing a game in this state is a shame, especially when sold on the premise of being an enjoyable and playable experience. It is a pity, given how much time has been spent on making this game. Disappointed Expand

    Pros:
    - World building and details
    - Soundtrack (tons of great music) - Visuals Cons: - Poorly optimized - Lots of bugs - Lots of crashing - RPG elements (lots of useless perks, like -5% fall damage, really!?!) - Loot (Every level same named guns have constant DPS upgrades, no meaningful loot. Only few percent upgrades in here and there.) - Combat (hard and very hard difficulty

False Advertising, 90% of advertised features are either missing or WILDLY over-exaggerated. Hacking and stealth is a massive waste of time. Skill tree is a cluttered mess with most improvements giving just a number increase here or there. crafting is yet another cluttered mess. Driving feels bad and npc AI is jarring. Enemy AI is just as bad. Wanted system is a joke. Nudity is included… Expand

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
