Your life path choice doesn't mean jack squat and doesn't change your interactions in the game except for your 15 minute prologue and the occasional dialogue option.

Plenty of other issues to boot. Don't waste your time on this one, go play RDR2.

Cyberpunk only in a meta sense--nearly a decade of promising a revolutionary future, only to deliver a bog-standard contemporary gaming experience marred further by its soulless, corporate feel. And that's only when you look at what works--not as in what works in the sense of "having pulled off their intentions," but in the sense of "actually functions." CDPR lied about delivering a game without crunch, instead crunching for months and still delivering something utterly broken and borderline unplayable on every single platform it released on. Nothing about Cyberpunk 2077 is subversive or revolutionary, unless perhaps you mean subverting the expectations of paying money for a working game, or the revolutionary way they recouped development costs in a single day while giving us absolutely nothing. Congratulations to all the gamers out there who have set the bar. Now everyone knows you can release what is barely even the suggestion of a game, and still make bank on it.

There is one thing Cyberpunk 2077 accomplished, and only one: they have finally put Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing to bed as the most broken game ever released. It is now the new benchmark, and I do not envy the developers who now have to decide what's worse: having a years-long hole in their resume, or admitting they worked on Cyberpunk 2077.

I would honestly give this game a solid 7 for the number of bugs it has at the start. But looking at people who are giving it 0, 1, 2, 3 or even 4 seems so ridiculous that I will just give it a 10 to level it a bit.

It is a very good title which got me interested and amazed by some details and ideas. It does look like they needed another year to make it an even better experience, but it is still definitely worth getting and playing. The bugs will most likely be dealt with soon. If it is not going to be improved then I will change my score to 7.

The main problem for the 6.6 scores is, that we have a very demanding society that doesn't understand that if you will hype yourself too much it is not the game's fault to disappoint. Some people gave silly arguments and too low scores.

    Minuses:
    - I don't like driving the car experience.
    - Encountered a few bugs which made me miss some content.
    - It doesn't encourage much to submerge into side quests and city life yet. But again, most games do not.
    - It would be nice to be introduced slowly into the game system and details.

    Pluses:
    - Conversations and characters are pretty good.
    - Graphics will be a new benchmark
    - It is nice to see something a bit different in the AAA type of game, especially the RPG one.
    - Storyline seems to be very attractive.
    - Overall experience (even tho its a bit glitchy - for 4 hours of play on my PC I was annoyed only once)

    So-so'es:
    - I had a bit bigger expectations of pubs, music could be louder so you could actually feel like you are in the pub or disco. :D

And this is just a couple of hours into the campaign.

The main story is so far alright. Gameplay and mechanics are fun. This could easily have been one of the best game. But before at least 3 months of patches, I don't see why anyone should buy this game.

The plot is great, written with an idea and in full swing, you can feel that it is the work of the creators of The Witcher 3. Although these games cannot be compared. At the beginning, we get the opportunity to create a hero and assign points, which is typical for an RPG game, and moreover, it is simply a very nice diversion, although it lacks certain parameters, such as silhouette, height, weight. However, this does not change the fact that the character creator itself is done very well. We also get to choose one of the three story backgrounds that affect the gameplay from the very beginning, as well as the possibilities that will appear over time.
Huge city - Night City, which will take some time to get to know and visit. The streets are teeming with life, there is always something going on. The visuals are beautiful, although it does not bring you to their knees, but also not what the creators wanted, the graphics were not supposed to be the strongest point of CP2077, but the gameplay, and this one is indeed wonderful. I like shooting in this game a lot, but eliminating enemies silently is the most pleasant for me, and when I combine it with hacking, it turns out to be a real assassin. Because sneaking in this game works very, very well. There are plenty of weapons, they have separate mechanics that are easy to adapt to your preferred style of play. Edged weapons, firearms of various types, grenades etc. Another real relish is the brainance mechanics. Studying the movies, catching the details is wonderful. Driving a car looks good but I personally miss something ... The biggest disadvantage of the game is definitely bugs. There are quite a few of them, but luckily for me, they don't happen to me as many as others (according to their reviews).
Summarizing postponing the premiere to a slightly more distant date than December 10th, it would definitely be a better. Perhaps it would do without extreme ratings and undeserved insults issued by players. Nevertheless, in my opinion it is still one of the best games I have played and I will be playing it for a long time and the DLCs and patches should solve the current problems with the game.

But a few weeks ago I watched the movie Blade Runner and I was in the mood for a cyberpunk themed game, great timing right? I played it 10 hours so far, so here's my impressions.

First of all, yes, there are bugs, I believe the game should've been delayed a bit more and be released with fewer bugs. Most of the bugs I encountered were just visual, it breaks the immersion a bit but nothing major. I did have one bug where I couldn't continue a mission, but saving the game and reloading from that save fixed it. I'm also thinking since this game started development back when the PS4 was a new console, so many things changed and they had to adapt and make the game competitive in 2020, I'm sure that wasn't east and that's why there are this many bugs.

Performance is also a tricky thing, on my 8th gen i7 and 2060 Super card I'm struggling to keep 45-50 fps with medium-high settings on 1080p.

I really love how detailed the city is, it feels real, feels like actually getting lost there. I love how there are different areas, my favourite ones are the ones inspired from Tokyo, I hear announcements in Japanese, people speaking in Japanese, signs in Japanese.

There are many references to other games, people or movies, so far I've seen the 3 shells from "Demolition Man", Hideo Kojima (Hideyoshi Oshima), GLaDOS, Blade Runner.

I'm not good with reviews, but I'm writing this one because I think the game deserves more than the score it has right now. It's sad to see it be destroyed by the overhype. People got their expectations way too high, and sure there are the bugs, but hopefully they will be fixed.

Swindled. Finessed out of our money by some slick and dishonest marketing. Simply put, this is not the game CDPR said it would be. It's all style and no substance. As an action-adventure-on-rails the game works passably well, there's certainly some exciting writing and interesting missions, but as an open world game it is nothing short of an abysmal failure. The second you step off the beaten path, the cracks in this impressively dense and beautiful game world become undeniable. The stilted and bizarre behavior displayed by NPCs pretty much singlehandedly destroys any hope for immersion in the world; they all just bumble around aimlessly on their lonesome, nobody ever walks in pairs or a group, nobody has anything worthwhile to say to V, they're literally nothing more than moving obstacles. The entire game plays out through your constantly-ringing cell phone, feeding you a neverending stream of unrelated missions you have no particular reason to feel compelled to pursue, it's just a means to add new markers to your minimap to lend the impression that you actually have some things to do. As you wander around Night City, next to nothing ever happens to you, to the point that it's a complete waste of time to ever exit your vehicle; you don't get swept into side missions by chance encounters with important NPCs or anything of the sort, it's just an enormous, lifeless expanse to traverse between mission points. Very few things around the world of Night City are interactable at all; there are no minigames to be played, few shops or vending machines to buy from, just extremely little to do in general aside from doggedly chase down the main story quests.

Honestly, it's shocking how poorly this game turned out. I imagine it'll take a few weeks for the dust to settle and the buyer's remorse to properly set in before a lot of other people will be able to admit it. It feels as though more than half of all the bold ideas for features in this game ended up on the cutting room floor at crunchtime. For now, it's an extraordinarily hollow and unrewarding experience to hang out in Night City, and frankly I'm not sure I see a way in which CDPR could possibly patch their way out of this mess. It's just a downright disaster.

I'm getting exactly what I expected. The game's story is even better than I hoped. I won't lower my rating because I literally asked CDPR to release it even with bugs, and I don't mind the few I encountered. And old console versions should really be cancelled IMO and those people using them should just move on to hardware for the next decade of gaming

    2. Allowed themselves to be hyped to oblivion. Again, I also blame CDPR a little here, but ALL game makers are guilty of this and consumers should just know better by now. Don't blame someone else because you didn't do your own research.

With NEXT GEN hardware, this NEXT GEN game IS amazing. I am playing at 4k on a 3090 using RT ultra settings, and it is running buttery smooth and looks jaw droppingly good. No, wait, it's better than that. I'd give the visuals and story an 11+ if I could. I am deducting NOTHING for bugs & glitches, even though they are annoying at times. I am much more happy to play it now with the bugs rather than being told to wait AGAIN, so ya, I'm good, bugs will get fixed. Mods and DLC will also make this game even more amazing. Thank you CDPR for what you have created, please send more when able!

The visual world of the game is top notch, and the story is well crafted. This is a great PC game, and in retrospect, should have only been developed for next-gen and next-gen only.

As a final note, I 100% recommend this game especially on PC, however, if your on console, just wait a few months for the game to be patched. Witcher 3 went through the same woes, and that game is one of the best ever made. Don’t review bomb a game based on bugs. Remember: bugs can be fixed, a crap story can’t. Cheers.

Basically, I feel like I get fooled by the premise of the game, not the hype, not the bugs.

    From the marketing, I expect an immersive role-playing game. And because the origin of Cyberpunk is the pen & paper itself. Plus you can create "your V". There was so much hype on how detail you can customize your character (which turns out to be not much). You can choose your "Life path", you can live in the "Night City". But that doesn't matter because;

"V": - although you can customize your look, you won't feel that you play "your V". The dialog choices are just different ways of a preset "V" would say. Don't get me wrong, choices still are made to determine the outcome, but that is it. Look at Mass Effect, Fallout, Outer Worlds, the dialog choices in those games are not only there to pick the outcome, but they also reflect the different personalities of how you want to role-play your character. And by the way, there is no way you can change your appearance after starting the game. I mean "really"? We are in a Cyberpunk world where getting a human enhancement is like going to a dentist. Even in 1890 Red Dead Redemption 2 you at least have a barber...

"Life path" - This is just an addition to the point in the dialog above. Dialog base on the background will pop up in conversation to sometimes help the situation, but that's about it. So, I guess the real difference is the short first part of the start of the game.

"Night City" - I love how it looks. The density. The art and style. But there is just "nothing to do". I know there are loads of side quests. But as I mentioned that I expect the "role-playing", I thought there will be more of a "Night City activities" to do. (Like at least you have hunting/fishing in a fake RPG game like RDR2).

So, if this game would make itself clearer that it will be Wicherpunk 2077. I would not feel let down. Because in Witcher you know you will play as "Geralt". You cannot change his look. The dialog choices are what Geralt would say, just in different ways. You'd know it is a softcore role-playing game that focuses on the story and skills rather than role-plays, and that's nothing wrong with that. That's why Witcher 3 is a great game.

Finally, the good? Basically, the thing that Witcher 3 has done, a good story. That's why I won't rate this as negative. If I didn't get fool by the premise and all the media, it would get a better rating from me. So from this point on, CD Project Red really establish their view of "what is RPG" according to them, and I won't get fooled again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I pre-ordered this game on PS4, depending on the reputation of the previous games from CD Projekt Red, since November 2019, and I have been waiting for it all that long. The game is very ambitious as an idea, but failed in execution. For example, the brawling missions, the first fight with the twin, that was easy. But the other three fights, I get beaten by one or two blows, and I don't even know what I did wrong, the huge difference between the first fight and the other three is just insane!
Another mission with the Delamain cars. It was moderate mission, the car with the easter egg from the game, Portal. The car incited violence against me, and although it was "moderate", I found myself attacked by dozens of armed NPCs and when I ran away, the whole mission failed.
The main quest is too short, and the game depends solely on the side missions, what am I going to do when I finish the main quest? Run around aimlessly solving everyone's problems? I'm not even looking forward to any expansion anymore. Good luck to CDPR, but this game is not what we expected from you.

Since the character creation I was concerned about how limited the options there were. There is no body edition, and face consist on preset pieces, without adjustable sliders. The result looks good, though. Beards are the only category where I think they did more than any other game I've played. Everything else is inferior.

Gameplay can be summarized like I started: it's a futurist GTA. That isn't necessary a bad thing for everyone, but it is for me. Gunplay, melee combat and driving feel 90% the same. Melee combat feels so imprecise, unnatural... Hacking during combat is the only little difference, but it's so chaotic.... You'll probably only use hacks to distract someone when in stealth, that's it.

First person view is probably the worst idea they had when they starting developing this game. It makes melee combat irrelevant, it makes moving fast annoying, and it adds ZERO to immersion. V has a fixed personality that you might like or not, so why I'm supposed to be forced to look through his eyes? To feel like him? I rather see him all the time in a third person view so I can enjoy him as a character, how I made him look and the clothes I chose for him. But the only way to do so is in the menu, since you won't see your character when playing. The result has the opposite effect to immersion: now you don't care for V or the way he looks. You are just looking at a screen.

I've also heard the word "verticality" a lot when talking about this game. How the city was big, not as big as other videogame maps, but verticality made it the biggest map ever made. Folks, I haven't seen any verticality when playing this game. There has to be something more about it, but in general every door will be closed, every building is just a map decoration and you won't enter if it's not plot-related. Streets are filled with NPCs in a very realistic way, but they can't be interacted.

I don't think this is a bad game. But definitely not a game I should have bought. It doesn't really add anything new to the table, and what it does doesn't shine or is poorly executed.

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
