We need yo give it second chance.

I play Cyberpunk after 1.0.4. version. I spot only 2 minor bugs. I play at PC with Nvidia 980Ti GPU and is OK. I never like so much RPG, but i think Cyberpunk is addictive. Very good main story, not boring secondary quest. Im gratefull for good game.

Now, as a disclaimer (and insight into my subjective opinion), some of my favorite games have been bethesda games, specifically Fallout: New Vegas and Skyrim. So maybe i have a stockholm syndrome with bugs, but they don't bother me that much. What I am trying to say here is that bugs are not fun, but If there is a well designed game beneath those bugs, I am willing to look past it. Its much harder to change a games core design rather than patch bugs. Now getting on to the review.

Cyberpunk is a very very impressive game, with some very noticeable, but serviceable issues. Let's start with the most glaring issues:

    - Ai is lacking. Most noticeably for me is the police AI, which spawns around you when you get stars, and wont chase you past a few blocks. Makes me believe that there is no driving AI.

    - Bugs. Most common in my playthough have been NPC's walking through objects/general collision failure. Additionally, One time I got stuck in geometry and had to load a save a few minutes earlier, and I have had one crash to desktop with approx. 25 hours played.

-Performance. I have a 1080 TI, 16 gb of ram, a I7 8700k, and a 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor. Generally, I have to run the game on medium to reach even 50 fps average. This is not well optimized.

Now onto what I deem to be the good parts of the game that make it a 9/10 regardless for me.

    - Jaw-dropping world-design. Honestly, I really don't get the complaints about how the city feels empty. The sidewalks are constantly bustling with NPCs, and the architecture of night city is so well thought out and feels so believable that I have spent hours traversing the city on foot. It feels to me like a real dystopian city that could be lived in.

    - Characters and story-telling. I couldn't engage with the witcher 3, but I could appreciate how good of a game it was through its story and characters. Same deal with Cyberpunk. The characters are believeable, they feel human, and you get attached. The story is well thought out and makes for an enjoyable RPG experience.

-Gameplay. This might be a controversial one, But I like the gameplay in Cyberpunk. When I compare this game to something in my head, I tend to compare it to Deus Ex or Fallout. And I believe it supercedes either game vastly in the breadth of its character design (stat distribution) and just general design of core gameplay loop.

-Gameplay Pt 2. Like Deus Ex, Cyberpunk gives you a lot of freedom in how you approach your problems. Do you wanna hack your enemies to commit suicide and turn all enemy turrets friendly? Do you want to stealth through missions without alerting anyone? Want to go hog wild and beat everyone in visible sight to death with your cybernetic gorilla arms? Its all possible, and this is the part that will most likely keep me playing even after I complete it.

-Graphics. As mentioned before I am running a 1080 Ti with 16 gb of Ram and a i7-8700k at 3440x1440. So with all of this I generally prefer a higher framerate than the most minute improvements in graphics, and I can tell you that even on medium or even low, the game world looks absolutely stunning. There are times where I just stop driving or whatever I'm doing just to admire the graphical fidelity and environmental detiail.

-Personal Bias? I love the genre of cyberpunk, and all the critiques it holds of our modern society. So this is why I dont understand when people say that this game isn't on brand or faithful to the genre. There's a line early on about how full prisons are, a notable jab at current insitutions. In addition many of the commericials and satire in the game tend to remind me of cyberpunk novels like that of snowcrash. I can't really comment on what cyberpunk really has to say until I finish the game, but I am satisfied with what is has said so far, in regards to the current systems we live under.

Overall, I really love cyberpunk. The bugs aren't that bad. Having to play on low doesn't really bother me because the game still looks great. The story is engaging and the characters make you want to care about them. The core gameplay loop may be a lil week at the beginning, but as with any other RPG, once you get your build rolling, everything opens ups. I've been getting lost in the world, and I suggest you do too.

One final note: I don't understand the comparisons between this game and GTA. This is an open-world RPG in the vein of the Witcher, fallout, or deus ex. And I think it nails the feeling of those games perfectly in a cyberpunk world. This game perfectly meets my expectations, and those were that it would be great.

While the shooter is fun, The story is all over the place,
Name dropping is something really common while you barely get to know the figures behind the names and relate to them.
and then there's bugs, Oh there are so many of them.
Feels like they should've delayed it to create a somewhat playable experience.

I find that the game is very entertaining. There are some aspects of the game that are unfortunate like the fact you cant change your hairstyle and facial hair later in the game via a barber of some sorts. - I liked the shooter part of the game, shooting a weapon feels like shooting from cyberpunk cannons, even if it's a pistol.
    - The game looks like a board game with probabilities, for example, in order to kill with headshots, you need to pump a special skill to increase the probability of a kill with a headshot.
    - Driving and cars - something a little better than in GTA 5, in my opinion.
    - Training at the beginning of the game is full of guano, I have not met such a dull one for a long time.

The game was a success, most likely to please even those who are not fans of the cyberpunk setting.

First things first, the game's quite good and very accessible from a controls standpoint. That's not to say that the controls are a cakewalk, they certainly have a learning curve and it doesn't take long to get into grips with and that's a plus. I sank around 56 hours into the game since release day and that contains 2 20 hour playthroughs(with breaks here and there of course) on day 1 and day 2 and a 16 hour playthrough on day 3, so i think I'm more than knowledgeable enough to talk about the game's shortcomings.
One very evident thing i noticed and that hasn't been fixed yet is the wide assortment of bugs featured in the game. Characters walking through objects and elevators, random hitches and performance drops here and there occurring all too frequently and making the experience far less enjoyable, extremely rare graphical glitches in certain areas and so on. It is unacceptable launching a game in this state. People brush it off simply because it was developed by CDPR but it really shouldn't get a free pass like that, had it been another developer people would be all over them.
With these things been said, I want to get into the nitty gritty things in the game as soon as possible so I don't make this review a full on essay. The story is quite good, it won't raise the bar or reinvent the wheel in terms of storytelling and voice acting but that didn't stop it from being a good cyberpunk story set in the near future for me and it manages to capture that essence or feeling quite well, i have to warn you though, it does tend to get a fair bit generic at certain points so don't go in expecting it to "blow your socks off". Next is the soundtrack and ambiance which along with the visuals can make the game feel utterly realistic and somewhat atmospheric in specific areas, especially at night with all that neon and street lights going on creating an almost surreal and gorgeous looking game, one with a soundtrack that tends to capture that cyberpunk aesthetic quite well and is further amplified by a gorgeous art style that adds to the experience and immersion on offer in the game.
Now, while the open world looks gorgeous that does come at a catch, the world feels empty and somewhat barren in a lot of areas and no I'm not talking about the suburban areas and areas found in the desert region of the map, I'm talking about areas that normally should be crowded and not just during the day but also at night, areas such as the City Center for instance which should be teeming with life, but it isn't.
Gameplay is great but areas such as driving, fighting and gunplay look like they need a lot of work and I mean a LOT of work. Gunplay looks barebones with guns barely having any kick to them and giving that feeling that you're shooting nerf guns and not actual weapons since they lack the "oomph" you would get even in guns found in "ancient" games like 2010's Cod: Black Ops which wasn't realistic by any sense of the imagination but the gunplay felt satisfying and each gun felt unique in its own way. You won't get that with cyberpunk. In terms of fighting I'll make it short, melee fighting is very basic, punching enemies makes you feel like you're punching a mannequin since all you get is a basic reaction or lack thereof from the enemy you hit and ragdoll physics are completely absent. Finally driving, I'll just say driving feels like Watch Dogs and don't get me started on that game and how unresponsive its driving was. Each vehicle, regardless if it was a basic car, a motorcycle or an expensive luxury vehicle lacked any unique characteristics when it comes to responsiveness and overall sense of speed. Using a very simple description, "It's like driving a boat, not a car". With regards to combat however, the various ways you can hack one or multiple enemies at once and make them do all sorts of things like shoot themselves or jam their guns makes combat a lot more enjoyable.
The wide variety of cybernetic augmentations and character customisation add immense replay value to the game and the various dialog trees which can make a certain conversation turn in one way or another makes conversations more enjoyable even though they feel useless in some situations. There's a wide assortment of skills, aptly called perks to specialise in making your character feel unique and suitable to your preferred playstyle some of them felt completely useless though and even though I chose some of them, there are certain perks that didn't really do anything for me.
All in all, Cyberpunk 2077 is a really good game but it's certainly not the revolutionary rpg CDPR hyped it up to be. It's got it's ups, but at the same time it's got its downs(both mild and severe) however that didn't stop from being enjoyable.

Night City feels like an actual place, and wandering the streets in first person feels very immersive at times. What's brining it down? Bugs. I'm lucky, on my copy, for what ever reason, I've only had a few minor bugs and visual glitches. Though my hardware is nowhere near top-end (RTX 1060 and 32gbs of RAM), I've gotten by ok. Your mileage may vary depending on your own setup.

Perhaps most disappointing for me is the lack of good character customization system. The customization screen they give you is about as advanced as something from half a decade ago. Dragon Age, Fallout, hell even Dark Souls gives you more options out of the box for making your player character stand out. Not to mention bodytype editing which feels like it should've been a no-brainer. Fortunately (or unfortunately) most of the action takes place in first person. Also confusingly, they also leave out any option of going back in and editing your appearance. One can only hope this comes out with some free DLC, as has been the case with other RPGs making the same mistake

Speaking of action, the combat is fairly decent. Guns feel impactful, but sometimes enemies at higher difficulties can feel a little bullet spongy. Solid RPG mechanics make a variety of builds and paths available and I can already see myself creating new characters down the line. I also found a decent amount of branching paths and options playing through the main quest and sidequests so far (~20 hrs in), certainly better than your average Bethesda game, but maybe not quite at the level people expected.

There is a very solid RPG here, depending on your tolerance--and luck--when it comes to the bugs. HOWEVER it should be noted that that's as much as you get. There's nothing wildly new here, outside of some fun game mechanics and a pretty backdrop. Is it fun? Yes. Can it be engaging? very much so. But is it Next-gen? I'd say if this is the tip of the proverbial next-generation gaming iceburg, we're in good shape. It's just too bad they only gave us the tip.

Cyberpunks biggest advantage is night city and the world ist astonishing, I can’t really make out how the bad reviews blame the city being dead, it’s not as alive as the demo from years ago but it’s very much alive and not cut down such as anthem..

Gunplay and gameplay in general is also great, didn’t expect such good gunplay from an RPG.

Progression and character levelling feels good, you have a rich skill tree to build your character.

And last but not least the story which is so well, I’m 30 hours in and only finished the prolog and a bit of the quests after..
Cyberpunk is fantastic and did deliver 100% for me.

The game however should be treated as a next gen release and a pc game for mid to high range pcs.

Don’t try to run this game on a gtx 980 and expect steady 60fps in the buzzing city centre.

All in all my Game of the year by far ! For me it’s a true masterpiece. Experience it for yourself and don’t be scared away by the anger of those who just have too bad pcs and blame it on the game not having miracle optimisation to run it on a launch PS4 that can’t even run gta 5 smoothly. Don’t be unrealistic.

If you, however have a good pc or a next gen console, this game is a must have and you will sink hundreds of hours into it! Enjoy!

Had the trees glitch that was solved by updating my Nvidia drivers, also I am playing on gog, it seems most people have issues on steam, but I'm talking about my experience. Other than that I haven't encounter game breaking bugs or major problems, my rig is very top notch so that also takes a part on it.
The game itself as an RPG is great, it has an incredible open world, no loading screens for going in or out of buildings, gameplay is pretty fluid, is not a hardcore shooter like COD so bear that in mind, is more like Fallout 4 on asteroids. Many of the early game concepts presented were washed down, I understand why, it was way too complicated for a big title like this and general audiences, these concepts are still there, but way more streamlined. The progression tree and its perks are overwhelming, and it could take you hours going all of the perks, the game do not do a great job explaining mid game features, you will have to discover it by yourself. The game is graphic and violent, so expect that, and it has a bunch of adult content. Music is great.
Finally I want to add that when I played the Witcher 3 at released it was not in a better shape than this game, and still is a masterpiece. Its definitely a must buy and have it in your collection, it is truly an impressive game.

Considering this title has been advertised as THE next generation RPG, character customisation is mediocre at best...there are no sliders, parts and colour choice is very limited and you can't change your body height and size at all...but you can choose between a small and big penis...I ended up creating a character that I don't like and doesn't feel mine, which in an RPG is pretty bad.Considering this title has been advertised as THE next generation RPG, character customisation is mediocre at best...there are no sliders, parts and colour choice is very limited and you can't change your body height and size at all...but you can choose between a small and big penis...I ended up creating a character that I don't like and doesn't feel mine, which in an RPG is pretty bad.

Night city looks good but as you walk its streets you pass by many cool shops and locations which you can't enter or interact with because they are all fake making the whole experience very disappointing.

Weather effects like rain are very poor, while sunlight is way too strong, especially when you drive a car using the interior camera, it completely blinds you, turning everything that is outside pure white.

NPCs animations range from ok and smooth to stiff, stuttering, and buggy. Filler NPCs are full of bugs and glitches and extremely basic on par with much older games.

NPCs density is no where near the one showed in the trailers (max setting); I've found a plaza where the density was pretty good, but truth is, most of the times you see only 2-4 NPCs or vehicles per street ; also where the density is high, it's very easy to see multiple clones in just a few meters.

Again, they advertised this as THE next generation open world RPG, and yet it is exactly like GTA V, beside the missions there is very little to do or interact with...I guess they are saving the cool stuff for the online version? Because, you know, microtransactions...

The UI is good but there are some very annoying features.
The mouse cursor is a huge blue square with a grid and a minus symbol on it, that completely fails at pointing and selecting things without actually covering them.
If you scroll down while reading a mission and then select another mission the scroll bar doesn't reset, so you have to scroll back up.
When you're inside any menu there is an electronic whistle and a bip sound that repeat every 10 seconds driving you crazy...on the other hand crafting and dismantling are strangely silent.
    Finally shortcuts are not consistent.

    Controls have problems too.
Interacting is done through the F button instead of the classic E and you can't rebind it unless you hack it.
Skipping scenes is done with C, but it's also used for other things, so you might accidentally skip dialogues and scenes.
There is no clear shortcut button to sheathe your weapons nor a walk button.
There is a button to accept phone calls but there isn't one to decline them and if you don't respond because you're busy, the phone call starts anyway.

Cars handling is dreadful...the game is set in the future and yet the cars handle like an automobile from the 80s with very high and soft suspensions, making the car wobbling around like crazy.
Vehicle damage is random and when vehicles crash into each other they bounce around like they are made of plastic. Finally there are no flying vehicles and the interior seat is far too low.

Shooting and melee fighting seem fine, although there are bugs.

Sound effects are okay, while music goes from great and appropriate to absolutely horrendous and out of place. There are radio stations like in GTA, so you can pick the genre you prefer.

The story has been great so far, but something I didn't like at all is that when you're introduced to your first companion, instead of letting you create a bond with him while playing the game, they show you a 1 minute video clip montage of you and him doing activities together forcing his friendship down your throat.

The game is infested with bugs.
I saw NPCs talking with their mouth closed, sliding around, running against walls, stuck in a T pose, playing animations that require objects while said objects are either missing or static or duplicated in mid-air.
I saw NPCs shot in the air Skyrim style, others instantly teleported outside a vehicle and then launched across the sky at light speed while the vehicle kept going in the opposite way.
Vehicles fail their path and crash or run over you and other NPCs.
The police attacked me for no reason even though I was distant and minding my own business.
Running sometimes doesn't make any noise; also if you sprint along the fence of a bridge your character can automatically jump off the bridge committing suicide.
Sometimes when you jump over an object your character is stuck in a landing animation.
The main quest can completely brake, same goes for the radar.
Switching weapons can completely break your hands.
You can kill people sitting in a car from outside through a closed door with a melee weapon.
    Items can glitch preventing looting.

The last time I saw a game this bugged was Fallout 76...

it's not a bad game, but it's not as good as they advertised either, and I honestly don't see how can you call this THE next generation open world RPG when most of the features are barely on par with much older games.

So, in a nutshell, this game is glitchy, slow and choppy.
It is amazing that SOMEONE SIGNED OFF THE RELEASE OF THIS IN PS4 and that this game has a price tag of 69.99 euros.

Regarding the essence of the game, this game simy makes me appreciate the craftsmanship that went into Elder Scrolls Morrowind , GTA san Andreas etc, games that are decade older than Cyberpunk and still have way better NPCs and an actual living world.

    1) NPCs are lifeless. Also, you can see the same npc model over and over again.
During a quest dialogue, the waitress was taking an order of a table while the guy on the table was eating. The waitress was looking in an empty chair.
After that, she left and went to another table. After thst, she returned to the initial table and re-took the order. This happened 12 times.
Npc mechanics that have been outdated in tvis decade.

    2) Big dead buildings with no interiors.

    3) Empty streets for ps4 version because they could bot handle rendering more cars and people.

Avoid at all costs. Play Morrowind, Skyrim or any GTa after vice city if you want an immersive world.

I see a lot of people here giving it bad reviews cause they think the world or story is blank, and i simply can't believe those people even played the game. There is a lot to do in the world, ofcourse there are certain repetitive activities like in any open world game, but a lot of the small activities are actually unique and very nice, the characters are so nicely written and have strong emotional connections to you, I remember when i first finished the Witcher 3 i couldn't sleep cause i was so sad to have finished it and i started another playthrough, this is exactly the same thing. If you liked the witcher 3 (mainly story and characters) you will like this too. Now ofcourse the gameplay mechanics are different, but tbh i was positively surprised by a lot of the mechanics, combat is pretty fun, also the shooting, driving isn't nearly as bad as people say, sure it could be worked on a bit but remember this is a story you play, the mechanics are a way to progress the story, things like driving aren't gonna be the same as in racing simulators. I see a lot of people comparing this to gta, saying this is worse. Well, that is exactly the problem isn't it, a lot of people went into this game thinking it was a gta clone, And it is so much more then that. Performance on previous gen consoles is crappy yes, they could work on that, but don't let people fool you, the main reason is cause this game is truly next gen, when next gen video cards start coming out this is gonna be a true wonder. I play on pc on rtx 2070 super and i have constant 60 fps on medium graphics and ray tracing, and the quality on medium is comparable to ultra on a game like lets say rdr2. So i anxiously await the dlc and expansions and patches and this game will be even more incredible. Expand

Cyberpunk 2077 is a big budget project that flops. It is a soul-less game with a mediocre storyline and just a horrible experience from beginning to end. For a game in 10 year development, it is a disappointment.

The characters are uninspiring with no likeable traits. Unlike many main lead character from AAA games, for example, Arthur Morgan in RDR2, the protagonist V in Cyberpunk is just another generic protagonist. The voice acting is inconsistent from act to act, and immature and whiny at times. Every character in Cyberpunk 2077 will be irrelevant in the next few months once the media done drinking the cool-aid.

The gameplay is underwhelming and that is a compliment. With or without the bugs, the fight is just boring. Guns have no real physics that affects shooting. Landing headshots after headshots makes for repetitive experience unless you are a fan of John Wick/Johnny Silverhand. Not to mention bullet sponge enemies that soaks up more bullets than in the Division. The driving mechanics is just awful and reminiscent of Driver from PS1 era. Hand combat is worst than Mike Tyson's punch out, even Little Mac throws better punches.

Cyberpunk is definitely the most overhype game of this decade and won't be the last. Considering that WB published the game, I'm sure there will be a sequel. Lord, please spare real gamers the pain and agony from a poor product hyped by the positive reviews from non-gamers.

I give 1 point for effort.

Expand

I played the game with solid 30-80fps for 47hr to finish the hole thing and let me tell you it was worth it.
When the ending hits and credits start to roll I was sitting on my chair starring at the screen with huge goosebumps for like 10min. Everyone saying its linear story have never played it.

The game Is unplayable on base console full of bug and gliches on any other platform and does not deliver the esperience It was published for. On top of that CD projekt RED Is the worst Company on the Planet by not sending console review code.

The gajillions of bugs that can be many times game breaking can also be fixed. But the emptiness of the world, the lack of interaction with the environment and NPC's made me feel like I was once again wondering around the maps of SW KOTOR which is a 2003 game. Animations are clunky and if you watch an NPC for more than 5 seconds you realise its nothing more than a poorly designed background element. Also as this is an RPG I was expecting to at least have good character customization, side activities, exploration, etc. I get nothing. Yeah it's an open world but doesn't feel like one, it's open world as long as you only do the things dev wants you to do. The level design is poor and won't really allow you to solve them in various different ways. The conversation options don't offer diversity, your character will always sound like an **** regardless of your choice. I don't understand why people are giving this game good reviews, do they feel they have to suck up to CDPR because Witcher 3 was awesome (which it was) or what? This clearly needed more time to develop and people shouldn't accept to pay full price for an unfinished empty product. I have refunded the game. Expand

Expect less GTA and more Deus Ex: most situations allow for very different solutions and this is made possible by a powerful mixture of interesting abilities and the design of the buildings and places. There are many amazing details in this world. For me this is one of the best games of the last years and in many aspects a new milestone. I understand from other reviews that some experience bugs and glitches. With the exception of some graphic glitches I haven't experienced anything like that, especially no game breaking bugs (playing the PC version). Expand

Night city? yeah because it puts you to sleep, it feels completely dead, pedestrians are more basic than GTA San Andrea's

Side missions are filled with bugs that prevent from being completed or make them look stupid

There are tips in the game that hint towards you having several hideouts/bases/apartments, its a lie.

Combat feels lackluster, very basic. Hacking although cool its not effective at all , you need to spend lots of eddies to really use it in combat.

Ai is trash, complete trash but the devs decided to give them ridiculous dificulty scaling in order to prevent the player just winning every mission in seconds, high level enemies are just bullet sponges that one shot you.

Performance leaves a lot to be desired even on the "recommended" gpu it runs like crap. And it doesnt even look that good on max graphics either (without ray tracing).

Annoying UI not practical at all, it is really a pain to navigate through the messages and journal entries , the map is overwhelming and not clear when it comes to the verticality of the map.

And now with the good stuff

The main story is really good the characters are amazing although keanu's voice acting leaves a lot to be desired.

The cars are REALLY cool, the sound is amazing (although difficult to drive due to the garbage minimap and bad controls on mb+k)

The ambience of the different regions of the map is really good although the zombie pedestrians kinda ruin it for me.

    Conclusion:
It feels like the n th iteration of this game after scrapping several others either because of technical or monetary constraints with lots and lots of cut content, either way it seems that cdpr bit more than they could chew.

[m]R3LOAD[/m] su XboX Series X stupenda esperienza. NPCS in cars operate on rails, they cannot react, there is NO AI, no navmeshes. Cops cannot persue you except on foot, the drones can't even catch up to your car - they can however teleport wherever you are. (Broken bounty system) Graphics are amazing but this is a shiny, gold plated turd- and you can still smell it.

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
