    Crystar is a guilty pleasure game. If you like lolis (young girls or petite girls), this is the game for you. Literally everyone in the castCrystar is a guilty pleasure game. If you like lolis (young girls or petite girls), this is the game for you. Literally everyone in the cast is skinny. The voice actors did a very good job. I really like Mirai voice. The thing that sucks is the character names don't sound all that great in the english dub. As for the combat, it's very easy to get bored, however if you're a veteran gamer, you realize you can bypass this with cheat engine. Overall, Crystar feels a lot like Oninaki and Nier Automata. They make you cry when you realize your goals won't be fulfilled. It leaves a bittersweet ending and leaves you with deep thoughts that makes the game a masterpiece.… Expand

    - Сюжет. Нет, серьезно. Перед нами очень элегантная, красивая, наполненная сюжетными поворотами история, причем повествование расставляет достаточно много подсказок и Чеховских ружей, и мне самому приходилось иногда ощущать себя гением, предсказав развитие сюжета за главу-другую до, так и хлопать себя по лбу, осознавая, что упустил все намеки и полунамеки, которые в один момент обрели смысл.
    - Персонажи, все до одного пестрящие харизмой, начиная от очаровашки Реи, заканчивая зловещими но по своему обаятельными Демонами Близнецами, все из которых получают свою долю места под солнцем, причем личные сюжетные арки умудряются сменяться именно в тот момент, когда в твой голове пробегает мысль "Неплохо было бы узнать о Х побольше". Даже те из них, кому не помешало бы раскрыться чуть лучше (Нанами, Куон и Мираи) остаются живыми и запоминающимися.
    - Визуальный стиль, начиная от панорамных видов на Чистилище и реалистичной анимацией лиц в катсценах, заканчивая детальными и красивыми спрайтами персонажей, стилизованными под грубые карандашные рисунки флешбеками
    - Сеттинг, хотя и периодически совсем не скрывает, что поглядывал на бессмертное SMT и его гораздо более популярный спин-офф в лице персоны, все равно выглядит и ощущается самобытно и интересно.
    - Саундтрек из смеси оркестровой и электронной музыки, заставляющий забрать себе домой его целиком
    - Стилизация и атмосфера трагической истории с легким налетом готики, которая складывается из множества мелочей, начиная от тематики слез и плача, с помощью которой главная героиня как улучшает свою экипировку, так и получает силы для сражения в боях, становясь сильнее проходя сквозь лишения и боль, продолжая креативным оформлением меню "хаба", изображающего Реи за разными бытовыми делами с неизменными меланхоличными эмоциями на лице, заканчивая такой отличной находкой, как Мемуары Мертвых, позволяющие нам узнать о короткой и зачастую трагичной истории жизни и смерти тех людей, на призраки которых мы охотимся.
    - Отдельно отмечу английскую озвучку, выполненную на удивление высоком уровне.
    Недостатки
    - Геймплей, то, что заставило оценки с метакритика остановиться на слабенькой семерке. Однообразный и репитативный игровой процесс с перекрашенными модельками однотипных противников разных цветов заставляет в последней трети игры просто пробегать их насквозь в поисках следующей порции сюжета или освежающей битвы с боссом.
    - Из четырех игровых персонажей нормально работают только два.
    - В сюжете можно заметить пару сюжетных дыр при вдумчивом взгляде, особенно в эпилоге.
    - Сумбурная и довольно дурацкая концовка, серьезно ломающая одну из ключевых сюжетных линий.    … Expand

A 9/10 hack'n'slash RPG that presents one of the best stories I’ve seen with fast-paced battles, responsive gameplay, immersive anime-style graphics, remarkable music, and astonishing art. The only drawback is the amount of repetition that the game contains. If you are a fan of the genre, buy it immediately and you will not regret it, if not, wait for a discount and do a speedrun on the easy mode just to enjoy the story, because I guarantee it is worth it.… Expand

Each of the playable characters is unique both in terms of personality, and in how they fight, and personality wise they play of each other very well. while the enemy design might get a little repetitive, this never proved too much of an issue as unlike many RPGs, level grinding is never necessary to complete the game, even if you intend to work towards the achievement for reaching the max level, you can achieve this quickly enough in the postgame that it doesn't end up grating, I also love the fact that every single revenant in the game has their own backstory, it's clear that a lot of effort was put in to story in general, and the story doesn't take a backseat. all in all a very fun game, that i would recommend to anyone who's a fan of the action RPG genre… Expand

    Game's story sounds simple. Main character Rei Hatada is trying to find her sister in purgatory. But that;s just oversimplified version. GameGame's story sounds simple. Main character Rei Hatada is trying to find her sister in purgatory. But that;s just oversimplified version. Game starts kinda simple, but in unique way. At the beginning you control a butterfly. A soul without memory and having no clue who she is. Later she learns her identity. Rei Hatada. Regains her human form. Soon she notices another butterfly following her. Its her sister Mirai. So how she loses sister out of sight? Well...actually weird woman named Anamnesis tricks Rei into stabbing Mirai, who doesn't die, but starts falling down to the deepest part of purgatory. If she reaches the bottom she'll be reborn as different person and will forget everything she knew in current life. In order to save her sister Rei signs contract with demon twins Mephis and Pheles. Terms of contract is simple. Hunt down the monsters and gather 7 ideas so demons could save her sister. That's short summary of story.
    After signing contract Rei gets and guardian she can summon, sword and armor. Now she's ready to fight things. Combat system is easy. You can assign 4 skills to be used.Once you level up more, you'll unlock more skills, but can equip only 4. Still,, there could be problematic to use some skills, because monsters can knock you faster, than animation for skill starts. Combat itself is action rpg style,so its not turn based and you actually control character.
    When game progresses 3 more characters will join your group and you can switch between at any given time. Every of them has their unique combat style and skills, still...Rei remained my favorite character to play.
    While fighting monsters you encounter stronger versions of creatures called revenants. Not all of them are bosess, most are like elite monsters. Why they are important? Simple. Once you kill them, you get a torment. You can get up to 10 torments. After that you need to return back to room and purify them..by crying. Once purified torments becomes sentiments, which are used as gear in this game, so best is to explore whole map to find and kill them all before proceeding to next floor. Each story chapter has 3 main quests and 1 optional. Each quest has zone with 3 floors each. So usually ist 10 revennats scattered around those 3 floors. By killing monsters you also can collect information about them. a backstory about each type. That includes bosses. Sometimes you get memories of boss monsters or game characters. Those memories have unique drawing style and you encounter first time with those in prologue when as butterfly trying to remember who you are.
    Gear can be upgraded, by fusing two of same type and name items with extra materials. You can also listen in game soundtrack. Also, as you progress through game you'll unlock new outfits for characters. Some are also part of DLC.
    Music soundtrack of game is beautiful,love the intro song, almost every time when launchign the game I listen for it.
    Now about rest of things....game's resolution can be changed before launching game, same goes for audio language, still..I suggest using Japanese voices with English subtitles. Mostly because English translation sounds weird..like something is missing..they fail to reflect character personalities. Downside would be, that I can't change controller style, so I'm forced to play with keyboard and mouse. Its not that terrible, I got used to it, but I'd prefer using controller.
    To complete game you need to finish it 4 times. Good thing is that you don't start at chapter 1 each time, but get ready for some repetition of zones and stuff, but story is actually really nice. Has everythign..beautiful,cute,funny moments..but there's also lots of tragedy and tears in the story..not just by characters..but by you . Its one of those games whitch can make you cry.
    Now it seems I said everything I wanted about game. Sure its not perfect, but has nice soundtrack and story, so its definitely worth playing. I don't regret those 45 hours of gameplay. Actually after completing with japanese voices I'm starting it again..still..as I said..Japanese voice acting is much better, than english    … Expand
