    This game is nice :D.. I like the graphics and i think you should not blame the source engine. This engine works well in games as HL2 DM so why won't it here? I like the many maps, mods, and especially the many n44bs there are to be pwned xD

    Never played before CS. My friend almost forced me to see this masterpiece. And i rarely play something else... to bad that the are only 3 good maps.

    Superb game, the new engine works wonders. However it still falls prey to some the same bs that I experienced in 1.6, other that that it's the perfect shooter and I enjoy hours of fun on it!

    i giver it 9 because the graphics r good but and the guns r good but the health is weird yes in real life one shot to head ur dead im glad they inclueded that but if u get shot in the leg u would fall or shot to the stomoch,they should of made if u get shot in the stomach u lose helath bit by bit as in ur losing blood but overall great online game.

    This game is pretty damn awesome. First off, the regular multiplayer maps (De_Dust, de_Inferno ECT.) are made very well. Another thing is the physics. The physics are extremely realistic, and if an admin doesn't like that they can easily make the physics like on a cartoon (You shoot a barrel and it flys till it hits a wall, lol.). The third thing is that if you don't like the regular game, you can always try"Surf" maps, where you slide on inclines and start with usually only a pistol (You get guns the further you go, I.E.: UMP45 if you only get 1/8th through, AWP if you get all the way through), Zombie Survival, which you have to utalize teamwork or you usually get rocked. You may say "BUT ZOMBERS ONLY HAS LOW HEALTH?". You are wrong; they have 2500 health (5000 for the starting one). There are still more modes, like DeathMatch and GunGame. The only problem I had with this game were the people with the ego the size of Betelguise (Really big star, for all of you who failed science ;D). They're the ones who usually ruin gameplay for me or other people.

    Extremely well-made game; almost revolutionary for 2004. Highly addictive and still relevant almost four years later, this game tops the list of any FPS on the market today. If you're a fan of this genre, you can't miss out on this gaming experience. Would've been a 10 if it had a single-player mode.

    I love the game.the graphics,the sound its amazing.Sometimes i fell like am actually in the game.But the movement of the players could be more realistic ,and the hostages. Still its a great game and I'll always play it.

    Nearly a perfect game, in places a bit unrealistic but has been changed a lot from the crap graphics and very unrealistic gameplay of CS 1.6. Sadly though they have changed many things which doesn't really have the touch of the original CS. The graphics are almost perfect but some things could be changed. But if you're a Counter-Strike fan this is a must buy object.

It is unrealistic in some ways. One of the biggest disappointments is the non-tatical gameplay (its basically a run and gun game), they also took out the tactical shield, which was one of the greatest weapons, One of the greatest FPS game ever made for the PC.     I love CS:S alot. The only downside I have ever had with the game is the fact you can not use iron sights. Other then that, levels are incredible, and very realistic. THe enviorment in the game is amazeing and just about everything you shoot, will react in its own way.
    Counter Strike is one of the worlds most popular games, CS:S is on its way to become everyones favorite

    I think some of the negative ratings on this site are rating the community rather than the actual game, but that's a bit to be expected. The game is pretty good, kind of hard to learn at first when you get shot down without ever moving, but once you get the hang of it the game is really interesting. I wish there were a single player story mode though.

    The graphics are still stunning, and the realism is almost scarry. which is cool. The only thing worth complaining about is the lack of new good levels. Of course, what do you expect from a grass-roots game? levels come from players, not manufacturers.

You can have fun chattin with other people, but this game is great as long as you are having FUN.     I am a realism buff, and as soon as I put the bunny hopping shotgun headshots and such aside this game became really fun. If you have a group of friends who play or join a clan then you get some really good memories made. For the price, this is one of the great bargain games of the modern world. The only thing preventing this from being a 10 is the fact that there are enough hackers to give anyone a headache, but they get banned quickly, and that you can get unlucky enough to discourage any person at times (lucky headshots taken in from a shotgun at 50 yards happened to me before) so just take a break when the game isn't fun.    … Expand

    Not the very best. but it goes well, anyway. The Source engine and physics apply moderately during gameplay, but i's nice to see some things flying with kbooms and shots.

    Counter-Strike Source is easily the most addicting game i have ever played in my life. Fast paced action, strategy, and loads of maps, as well as guns and gamemodes keep the action fresh for years.

    Not the greatest ever, but very high replay value. There are lots of better games for 20 dollars, but none with as many mods and plugins.

    Great game, pretty easy to learn. It only took me a couple days to start PWNING. Think about it, Cod4 is $40, while Counter Strike Source is $20, plus, CSS is fun, random, and crazy. Theirs zombie mods and stuff. The only down side to it is how the people get so angry about stupid things.

    Ignore the people rating down on this because they're having trouble playing the game. "Headshots are too easy". Tell that to the other end of an AK-47...while the hitboxes are quite...terrible, you can't let that stop you playing this amazing game. Like many Valve games, this is extremely mod friendly, allowing you to customise anything from how you look, to how the game plays. There's zombie mod, hide and seek, the list is almost endless. The reason i gave it a 9 instead of a 10 is for some seriously annoying issues. Weapon balance. The weapons in this game are terribly unbalanced. The largest, most expensive weapon in the game should be a "superb power, bad accuracy" type weapon, while on the other hand it's not going to hit anything outside of a 2 meter radius. And it has the lowest damage out of almost all weapons. Same with the top-tier hand guns, they have terrible accuracy and meagre power. So every round, you'll be using the exact same gun, along with your team mates and enemies. Body armour + desert eagle + ak47/M4A1 = all anybody will use. That dropped my score down. It's in mods that the other weapons begin to shine, such as zombie mod, you'll find all the worst weapons will become the best, ie the shotguns, P90s etc. Overall, i'd say you'd be crazy to miss out on this game. This was the first game i ever bought, and i still play it to this day.… Expand

    This game is so fun and so solid. Only problem is weapon spray can be unrealistic. The rate of fire for the Desert Eagle .50 Cal is way to fast and way to accurate. Other than that everything in the actual game is solid. And most importantly this is a downright fun game.

    A good game with great graphics, plays bettter than most shooters, with a bit of work it is easy to master the game, not as good game play as 1.6 though, but better than most other shooters.

    I read it maybe the best game of 2005 year and it was the second most popular game played in the world, so I bought it. It's the beautifulest game I never played, with a fantastic physic engine [Havok] and graphic engine [Source]. BUT I'm disappointed because Counter-Strike : Source is just a copy of CS 1.6, with better graphics; there's some news maps, but nothing really change.

    Probably one of the best games I have ever played in my life. When I thought cs 1.6 was the bomb, I was wrong! The only problem is that you need a pretty fast computer luckly mine is good enough to play it. Nice work valve

And for the graphics being on the lowest settings it still looks much better than 1.6 on the highest. And no, the guns are not perfectly accurate, and no the weapons are not unblanced.     The is excellent! Things missing: Leaning, nade's power should be increased to make it real (now it is very poor, it's a gadget more than useful in a game). Also, i just can't be an admin on my own game... and i just don't know how. We shouldn't have to modify text files to access to it. This point makes me upset. A normal .20cal has a small kickback that totally screwed with my aim when I was first learning (irl). A .30 or .50 would easily have way more kickback. So, if you aim at someone's chest, a small amount of kickback may cause you to blow their face off. Also, there's a randomization Very well-made game. Also, there's a randomization factor that is, really, a little unrealistic (a trained SEAL isn't going to have a .8" deviation when shooting a target 10 feet away). You can't really complain about the "crappy physics" in Source, because they are realistic. Bodies WILL fly 10 or more feet if they get hit by a grenade. The shotgun could be a little more balanced, though (it's easy to get headshots with it because the way Source handles it is by sending a spray of about 5 quarter-powered bullets... get lucky and hit the head and you've got a winner. I strongly dissagree about the lack of tactics in Source as opposed to 1.6. Of course you will get shot if you're the first one to rush!! That's how it works irl!! The point of videogames is to create an alternate world for amusement. Since it's trying to be realistic, it is realistic. You can't really count on 100% (Magnum Super Rife or a lack of penalties from getting SHOT) because it's just a game. A game for $20, no less. People complaining about lag should just shut up and get a better computer and/or ISP. Trust me, rebuilding my computer from scratch did wonders. Bi***ing about having to download something "every time you try to play" is just flat wrong. Connect to a server that has the map "de_*" or "cs_*". They come with the game. No DL for you. Well, that's not altogether true, there are some maps named that that you still have to download, but quit whining and get it over with. A massive Surf map (fy_surfpro_hi) took about 2 minutes. And I'm on a 11 kb/s wireless card. Get over it and stop whining like a bi***.… Expand

    This is definitley the best online FPS out there so far, the graphics are great, not the best but they are very good. The gameplay is awesome, and probably the most well-balanced FPS I've ever played. Sound is pretty good, about what you'd expect for this kind of FPS.     This was my first Valve game, and my first multi-player first person shooter. I purchased this not too long ago, maybe 2-3 months, and I've been playing not stop since then. There are a variety of maps, guns, and things to do in this game, it never gets boring. Though the pace is much slower than a lot of the other Valve multiplayer games, the pace works great for the game. Instead This was my first Valve game, and my first multi-player first person shooter. I purchased this not too long ago, maybe 2-3 months, and I've been playing not stop since then. There are a variety of maps, guns, and things to do in this game, it never gets boring. Though the pace is much slower than a lot of the other Valve multiplayer games, the pace works great for the game. Instead of running around like a with-drawing crackhead, spraying bullets everywhere, this game requires you to use tactics AND ACTUALLY AIM! You die pretty quickly on here, considering that it isn't extremely hard to get a headshot once you've gotten control of your gun's recoil and aiming. It's a solid game, and I highly recommend this game to any first person shooter fan. Hell, I wasn't really into first person shooters before I bought this, now I'm diving deep into these kinds of games. So, this would be a great introduction to the genre.… Expand

    Very good 1st person shooter. It is a good game for beginners as well as advanced players because you can practice with computer generated players(for the beginnners). For advanced users, there are other people to play with, and even the computer generated players can go up to expert. I have had this game for 2 weeks, and It is still totally addicting.

With constant updates from steam (which, I must say, has gotten much better) any glitches are quickly, and efficiently removed. And the gameplay is unequaled.     The original, valve-made game would get a 6 because of the repetative gameplay and lack of the amount of weapons, but it gets a 9 because of all the mods out there, such as surf, gungame, RPG, and so on. Only reason I gave it a 9 is because it's dissapointing how Valve didn't include all these great mods with the game

    Awesome game... my favorite since the beta versions of regualar CS... all aspects of the game rock except the DWP which causes CS:S to lose a point... good job with the game though.

    Simply the best guilty pleasure! The only problem is the other many broken items that weren't in 1.6. This game is still better than most out today. My advice is to "create server" in single player mode with at least 8 bots at hard level. Then you will stand a chance in multi player mode online.

    I think that this is possibly the second-best video game VALVe has ever released. Great graphics, lots of weapon choices, and lots of maps, and the modifyablity of the game itself. I love it.

There are so many of them, too. Deathrun, Zombie Mod, Zombie Escape, Jailbreak, Surfing, Gungame - they are the main ones I love. The servers are also great and they can have also their own mods (gun mode after eache kill you get better gun, hide and seek terrorist transform to so object and hide CT has to find them) but there are also normal modes like S&D, TDM and so on.     Counter Strike is the game that started it all. If you don't have this game, you need to get it. Counter Strike is a team-based game, that will never be forgotten. 1.6 has a classic feeling and I still play it today, alongside source. It may get boring at times, but play different server game modes, and you'll have fun! Either that, or you don't have any skills... :P

    This is fun. I got this on August 27th, 2011 because it was on sale for $5. And its really fun. It has great gameplay and good AI. Lots of cool weapons. But my only complaint is that its Multi-Player only. Anyways. Great Job Valve!

    This is a very good game if you like FPS. The graphics aren't that good, but you can enjoy a good game play. This is definitely a very good game to buy if you get a sale. Also you don't get tired of it to easy. It takes lots of time to be a pro player, but it worth the hours you will play it.

    Not a game for you if you don't like dying quick...and staying dead, the rounds are very quick to make up for that. But if you're smart, good at shooters, and HIGHLY tactical, you'll adore this game. - 87/100

    Still the most effective time waster and the easiest multiplayer experience ever. -1 for incomplete global ranking system. Hopefully CSGO will have the promised global leaderboard done right - and hopefully, just hopefully there will be cross platform gameplay in the future.

    After 6 years of semi professional playing i can say, this game is the **** God I spent so many hours playing it, sure if you are new to the genre it won´t be that much fun in the beginnings, but if your gameplay grows the fun grows too!

    Definatly the multiplayer game of my life!

    Counter Strike Source is epic in many ways, and It's better than the original. It is bloody, fun and strategic (sometimes). Gameplay is extremely fun, graphics are great, but sound effects are mediocre (I know this game is a remake of the original Counter Strike, but they would work more about the sound). So, everything upgraded, except sound. But, anyway, this game is a blast! (9.1)

    For a title that had massive boots to fill, it sits proudly ontop of the original. The basic gameplay is faithfully recreated with no new quirks or features weighing it down. The game itself fits well into the beautifully designed Source engine. There's nothing new apart from the graphic overhaul, and that's all the fans surely wanted. Well done Valve.

    Valve has delivered Pure fun. Get your mates. Move your computers to your basement, Install CS Source and play. It´s such a great game! Custom modes are awesome and well made aswell as graphics and physics. It´s a must buy for all shooter fans!

    Fun game to play when you're bored. The community does suck, but there are always servers that will be fun to play on with good communities. There is a very steep learning curve, so it will be hard for newcomers at this time because a lot of current CS:S players are veterans with at least a couple years of CS:S under their belt.

There are a handful of mods to play, like Minigames, JailBreak, DeathRun, Zombie Escape, Napalm, ZRiot, Bunnyhop, Surf, and more. In the midst of having fun while playing these gametypes, you will find your skills gradually climb upwards. This game defines fun in my eyes, sprouting a huge player base and community to fuel it. New players are actually very welcome, and it's just time to beat, not other players. Definitely a game to recommend to anyone looking to divulge into PC gaming.… Expand

    I honestly believe that this game owes its success to its simplicity! tha fact that you don't have to spend a lot of hours to upgrade weapons like other shooter games, but you decide to join either counter terrorists or terrorists forces and have fun with other people on-line makes me vote no less than 9/10! Excellent game!

    If you think Call of Duty is competitive don't even bother buying this game. This is for the die hard FPS fans. Huge learning curve. It will take a long time to hone your skills. This game is timeless and one of the most intense shooters ever released.

    i love it this takes gamers to the next level it this game takes at least way more skills than cod and day of defeat. the point of making a game great is by having it built for hardcore and they went through way more requirements for that than halo.

    Counter-Strike: Source is a worthy successor of CS 1.6., with very suitable Source engine, and impoved graphics, maps, and gameplay. This game didn't mess up any really important things, and was very good-looking and fun to play game for mid-2000s. Also, this game aged well, and it was cool to play Source even in early 2010s, because graphics are wonderful and gameplay is elegant.

    Valve has done a sterling job of moving a flagship franchise over to a new engine. Whilst the gameplay guts come over correct and intact, (which may disappoint some), Counter-Strike: Source is an even more engrossing and captivating experience, capable of sapping hours of your time, and even the worst "1337 g33zers" abusing voice chat can't spoil the fun you'll have with it.

    Counter-Strike: Source is, once you've gained a knack for it, the most consistently rewarding and surprising team-based shoot-'em-up available on the PC today. It's been dressed up nicely for its relaunch in 2004, but it wasn't broken, and Valve hasn't fixed it.
