    Chess Ultra is a fantastic entry in the world of virtual chess, delivering much more than is expected from a chess title. While the actual gameplay isn’t revolutionary, Chess Ultra’s entertaining tutorials and challenge modes make it a worthwhile play for beginners and experts alike.

    Maybe it doesn't have gore-drenched animated encounters between knights or copulating pawns, but Chess Ultra VR manages to check off just about every fundamental requirement, at least to some degree. Overall, though, it seems a bit bare-bones, with VR being its niche feature. It isn't necessarily a great tool for learning the subtleties of chess, but in most ways, Chess Ultra VR rises above baseline competence to something much better. And owners of virtual reality headsets can dust them off and enjoy a game that never loses its challenge.

    Reduced graphics and played around, I can confirm that it is the game itself.

    Regardless of EVERYTHING the way the game runs is one of the worst I have ever seen.
    The graphics beside are "ok" nothing wow about but still heavy enough to cost performance.
    The controls are off, needing multiple clicks to select something, then some more to see the moves you can do.
    I just cannot believe this is an actual released game. Very low quality game. There are MANY other chess games that would throw this one straight into the garbage bin.    … Expand

    The framerate jumps around between 55 and 15 while the hardware is barely utilized. It also takes up an unreasonable amount of disc space. There is a bug that stops you from resuming any games so you cannot pause your game. It looks nice but without VR you can barely see your surroundings.… Expand
