Camera Obscura is definitely a niche game with simplistic gameplay, but it has a certain charm that will captivate anyone who gives it a try.

It looks quite amateur, but it delivers a solid, original and challenging experience for those looking for platforming and puzzles.

The dated graphics can be difficult to overlook, but the gameplay is still really interesting, and brings some fresh idea to the sidescrolling mechanic.

At least ten hours to beat the game, with many more offered by the medals that can be gained by mastering the levels. Extremely satisfying when you get a gold, and while they're difficult, they're all doable. The game as a whole is challenging without being unfair. No spikes to kill you, just cleverly-placed monsters and pits to jump over. Very pleasing graphics with a mellow soundtrack that you won't get tired of hearing, or distract you from the game itself. The level design is varied, from rocky plains to more mechanical backgrounds as you progress, and the levels range from 'oh this is fun and easy' to ones that will definitely require some clever platforming. But again, it's all fair, and it feels immensely satisfying when you solve a puzzle.

If there are any negatives, it's that the story is told mainly through collectible mementos in the form of photos. While most are easy to find, you can miss a few, and at this point there's no quick way to tell which levels contain ones you're missing. The game does use graphics that resemble old 16-bit games, but that's mainly for the main character, the backgrounds are incredibly well-done. If you are getting tired of those kind of graphics, this game does it right, along with many other things that make it a fun platformer that has had me saying 'just one more level' many times.

With a unique mechanic of taking a 'snapshot' of your surroundings and utilizing that to solve the puzzles. It is very fun and challenging, revealing the story as you traverse the tower, with a great soundtrack as you go. As the levels escalate in difficulty you need to use everything the game teaches you- no space is wasted. Quite addicting- there is story for the readers and medals and time trials for the competitive.
    Definitely worth its price.
