It is extremely frustrating to see kill cam after kill cam of guys spinning 180 degrees and getting headshots accross the map on the first bullet. Also, finding a game in the first place is a huge pain, the lack of dedicated servers means your game gets interrupted every 10mins when the "host" leaves the game, trying to find a game based on a few simple filters (like hardcore mode) is simply not possible, and it's always a crap shoot with your ping if the game decides a 9year old from Lithuania is the game host. They simply given up on the PC format, it's as simple as that. Such a shame since the actual game play is pretty fun (albeit old hat). The gun play feels solid and responsive and the levelling up of weapons is always a blast. Expand

What a bad game. The singleplayer is 4 hours long and the multiplayer is exactly the same **** that the other CODs since Modern Warfare 1. I wouldn't even pay $10 for this piece of crap. Also, no control support, DLCs with 3 maps for $15, the Activision support is **** etc. If you find this a good game, you seriously need to shoot yourself.

Little things like not being able to turn down the sound and music separately irritate immensely but when I got online things turned even worse. The game is a first person shooter but its using the geeky XP system which makes games unfair against newbies, purely by giving early adopters weapon and equipment bonuses. Wow, what a shame. When MW2 hit in 2009, it came just at the right time and felt completely fresh. It had nearly the same effect as CoD4, bringing innovation and excitingly fast-paced multiplayer to the fore. Did Activision seriously think that, giving IW only a year, they could work the same magic? By the time Black Ops had been announced, MW2 was almost dead when people discovered how unbalanced it was. Now, we have this. The traversty known as Modern Warfare 2.5. Where do I begin? Well, there's the maps. What was admirable about Black Ops was how every match was EXACTLY the same because the spawns and maps were logical. Here, every match is the same as well, but by that I mean it's just you spawn, get killed by hacker, spawn get killed by killstreak, spawn get killed again. Quite simply, the maps and spawn have no logic or consistency. Granted neither did MW2, but on MW2.5 the maps and spawns are game breaking. It appears that they were purely designed to look good on trailers. Speaking of which, isn't it embrassing that a GT 430 1GB can run the game on highest graphics and texture settings at 1920x1080 resolution and still get 50+ FPS? As far as weapons go, they're all the same. Sniper rifles have still not been fixed. Equip Sleight of Hand and Quickdraw combined with a bolt action and you're guranteed to win every firefight at anything above knifing range. Well, there goes the aim assist arguement. Quick scoping on PC MW3 is even easier than MW2 on console. Further still, every hit is 90% chance of being one hit kill regardless, or so it seems that way. The game is very fast, but not organized. It's a mess. All MW3 is is MW2 with more quantity. And more quantity of what? All the things that were wrong with it. What killed CoD for me was killstreaks, but at least Black Ops had the decency of 1) making the balanced and 2) leetting you play Barebones Pure right from the start, with no perks, equipment, killstreaks, deathstreaks etc. Gun on gun, you're done. In MW3, it's an "Advanced" game mode which is unlocked at Level 20. What were they thinking? Black Ops was a masterpiece in every sense and even if it was boring to many people, I'd rather play a game that's boring but functional than one that's fast-paced but broken. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer really messed up big time. Not a single map in MW3 is thought out proper.y. Every single one is exactly the same- too small and chaotic. Yes, MW2 was a fantastic game but IW should have realised that although they did a great job in MW2, MW3 should have aimed to give a refined, balanced multip[layer experience. Instead, all they've done is make the game even more broken. I only give zeroes to games like Minecraft just to hate on them, but in this instance, MW3's multiplayer truly deserves it for the simple reason that it is not functional. It doesn't work. Not a single thing about the game is logical. And that makes it the most dissapointing tragedy in FPS history. Call of Duty built its title on intense gameplay, fun matches, great campaign and most of all, the multiplayer. In all aspects, CoD has always been an innovator (ever since CoD4 anyway) so for them to add nothing new or even improve upon established foundations is what really makes MW3's multiplayer a failure. All Robert Bowling had to say for himself is that Commando, Last Stand and One Man Army have been taken out of the game. In that case, why didn't you just patch MW2 in the first place? MW3 had potential to be another solid masterpiece to join the ranks of CoD4 and Black Ops. As far as I can work out, the multiplayer is the biggest step backwards in Call of Duty's history. Expand

The campaign was very short, generic, familiar and the AI are SOOOOOO stupid. Your AI Team Mates will always look like they are shooting the enemy, but are really just shooting the wall next to them.
and they bought back quick scoping, and its a bad choice. Just because Infinity Ward made bad Maps, doesn't mean that it has to support the people who are to stupid to realise that it's a bad idead to run around the map with a sniper.

So far I have played about 4 hours of Multiplayer and can't play a game without thinking about how much Infinity Ward just ruined this game. The guns all feel familiar with the same recycled sound effects and design, and not many new or interesting weapons have been introduced. Weapons are very, very unbalanced to the point where it actually ruins the whole online experience. For example, Sub Machine Guns are far more superior then assault rifles, regardless of the distance. Heavy Machine Guns are just a waste of time using cause they have no advantage, shotguns are a guaranteed kill when in close quarters combat, and I don't see the point of the Sniper Rifle with these Map Designs.

The Perks were all in MW2 or Black Ops, leveling up doesn't really have any excitement anymore since every time I level up, I unlock a perk that I've used for the past 2 CoD games, and if you know which perks to use, you can become undestructable from using a combination of perks.

The Killsteaks are just plain and simply unorganized and unbalanced again. They bring back the AC130, which from what I can remember in MW2, would single handily win the game for the team using it.
On top of that they added about 5 new killstreaks that just are crap or aren't fun or usefull.

The Attachments are all the same, nothing interesting, and less customization then Black Ops. Again, more mad news, Infinityward brought back the heartbeat sensor. Now that attachment ruined alot of games in MW2 because people using it would just camp and camp waiting for the enemy, plus its like having the UAV Radar 24/7.

I have to say, the one thing I hate more then anything is the Weapomns leveling up, now that did sound awsome before you play the game, but it actually turns out bad. It leaves loads of guns unused throughout your playthrough because you cannot be stuffed having to unlock all the attachments again. So really you only use a few weapons from each class of weapons before you prestige, and honestly prestige isn't as fun as what it used to be.

Now the Map designs are very, very bad and familiar again. It doesn't feel like a single map in this game is designed for Snipers at all, leaving the whole Sniper Class useless, and camping is a bigger problem then ever because of the bad map designs.
Plus the game is very buggy. All up the game is very, very, very bad. You can't make up your mind about which killstreaks or perks to use cause they have been overused from previous games, or they are just crap. The Weapons are seriously unbalance and everything and I mean everything in this game has been re-used from the previous games. Its become obvious that Activision and Infinity Ward care more about making there 1 Billion dollars in 16 days then they do about Customer Satisfaction.

WARNING! If you buy this game you will be very unhappy about spending that money. Don't complain about it when you buy it, cause you read all these negetive comments and still buy it.

Can't wait for them to fail again when they release the Rumored Black Ops 2 this year. Can't wait to see that. lol

Multiplayer is what I rate. My rating: terrible.
Same terrible weapon balance: some guns recoil like mad, leaving you in state of shock after your gun goes all over the screen as you try to hit opponent more than 4 times (yeah, it takes 6 bullets to kill anyone), and they take you down with 2-3 hits from a gun that doesn't seem to move at all when shooting.
Same good old matchmaking - lags

Same good old matchmaking - lags are terrible despite everyone having "4 bars" connection, cheaters are never banned, players instantly teleporting left-right when you aim at them (bad game design, same as MW2).
New: dedicated servers. Only unranked. Pointless, as the only point in call of duty series is to get points to progress to better guns, get prestige rating and re-do it all from the start.
Same old graphics. They're not bad, in my opinion. But everything looks toy-ish. Its hard to tell enemy from wall, everything looks the same (or I became completely color-blind suddenly). Colors are way too dull. When you aim, you can't see anything other than your iron sights - it all goes blurred.
New maps. Terrible as you can't camp anywhere. Terrible because your field of view seems to be limited to 60-70 degrees (tiny), and there is a ridiculous amount of 90-degree turns (if you look straight ahead, you will not see anything on your side).
I pre-ordered every COD after modern warfare (WaW, MW2, BO) and decided to skip MW3 entirely, knowing what it was going to be same old Modern Warfail 2 Refresh (judging by interviews). Sadly, I wasn't wrong about this game.
Thanks, Steam, for the free weekend! Now I know I won't be buying this game!

Whether you can blame the developers for this or not is debatable considering people will buy the Call of Duty series no matter how bad it is, so I guess it isn't in their interest to put any work into the game. The PC version of this game is much much worse, being a bad port, no dedicated servers STILL (learned nothing) and no adjustable field of view options. Now for the Online, I don't think I really need to go over what I said earlier about the lack of features, however it really can't be ignored, Why didn't Infinity Ward just take a page out of Treyarch's book and try to do something different with the franchise instead of just spewing out the same **** for 3 games? But seriously, I could have played the new MW3 multiplayer and thought it was a new DLC pack for MW2 if somebody told me it was.

I got this game on sale for £20, and I feel like it was £10 too much for what is essentially an expansion pack onto the last two games. I think it's laughable that the Modern Warfare Call of Duty games can even be considered a series. It is essentially an online multiplayer with a terrible and badly written story stuck on the side with blu tac. If you're looking for a fun, online multiplayer game, I'd suggest looking at Counter Strike, Team fortress 2 (free to play), or Gotham City Imposters, all cheaper and much more fun to be had.

This is more of an expansion than a stand alone game. No servers, no proper spawn system, nothing new at all, no more Activision for me. Fanboys will be fanboys, and you can whatever you want about sales but lets face it CoD does not look good, or play well and there are thousands of games you could buy for the price of this garbage.

Quite simply single player is passable, but it's hard to tell the quality of the multiplayer. This is mostly due to the fact that almost no one can actually connect to the MW3 servers. Waste of money especially considering this has been a problem since launch and nothing has been done.

I can't put into words how much of a disappointment this installment of COD is. Let me start by saying that I really wanted this game to live up to the hype and advertising. Yes, there are a few new features, such as leveling your guns, but ultimately it is MW2. Same graphics, same sounds, many of the same models, and of course the hackers are back in force. Like MW2, it would have been a decent game if they would have at least attempted to do something about the hackers. But they didn't. Hell, half of them wear it like a badge of honor that they are hacking and nobody is going to stop them. Okay, enough grumbling. Here are the issues that I have with a $60 map pack. First, and most obvious, I already paid for this game 3 years ago. Second, the maps are entirely too small, even for COD. The match making system is terrible. Either you have no lag and the rest of the teams are lagging, or your are watching a slide show. Even when it does not appear to be lagging you can empty a magazine in an enemy and never register a hit. Most of the weapons and damage are pretty good so I'll give credit where it is due. The akimbo option ruins the game. They are entirely too accurate at distance. So what happens is all of your matches turn into a spray and pray competition between akimbo's. In general the hit boxes are terrible, but I am not sure if it is the lag or the hit box. Either way, you would think that all the money the fans of COD pumped into this company, they could at least have solid net code. If not for the lag issues, the major issues with hackers, and the fact that it is simply a recycled game from 3 years ago with no innovation, I would have rated this much higher. As it is, it is unplayable in multiplayer. Expand

If youre a gamer who is into Challenges, there are plenty to be had in CODMW3. I do run a high-end machine, so have had no issues at all with performance turned up to the maximum, whereas I still have a few slow periods with MW2. That is to say they have steped up the video performance from MW2.

Multiplayer itself seems to be good, but sadly there is already a whole whack of hackers who have silently modded their game and it simply take the fun out of it for me. That aside, Multiplayer does have another whole set of different gameplay modes- you'll certainly not get bored with it anytime soon.

The audio was a bit of a disappointment, as they seem to have directly followed the MW2 idea, but have changed voices to the point that it does not feel like a continuation, rather a new version. Melee distance in my opinion is quite inaccurate. Combined with the 'stale' audio, the melee issue is my only other negative note. 8/10 on my scale!

I've always favored Infinity Ward iterations of the COD franchise, and to be honest, I wasn't expecting MW3 to actually be released after that issue a while back of Activision kicking quite a few of the Infinity Ward team off the project.

Now, the single player of MW3 is very good, voice acting is nice, the storyline isn't hard to follow, even ties in with scenes from COD4 and MW2, the graphics are crisp and rich in detail, not to mention the campaign's ending was actually quite satisfying. The gameplay is more or less the same as MW2 with new weapons, a new campaign that continues right where MW2 left off, and adds a few new characters. Whether or not you class this as a bad thing is up to you, I'll personally admit yes it did get a little repetitive later on in the game.

I'm quite reclusive and most of my internet time was spent on dialup / satellite internet so I never quite got around to playing multiplayer, but I hear a lot of complaints about the matchmaking system. To be honest I feel the matchmaking should stay with the game consoles.. or as a secondary option with the choice of a server browser, so you have a choice with either a casual match with random people or a good game with people you know from a clan. (Off the record.. Just my opinion, Call of Duty's multiplayer is not deep like the fans say. To be honest it hasn't really changed much since COD4.)

And of course, I'm going to cite my protest at Activision with their greed. 15 dollars for a DLC is insane, I could wait for one of Steam's holiday sales and get 3 or 4 full games for the price. Hell, I even grabbed BOTH Mass Effect 1 and 2 for a total of 5 dollars less than one of the Call of Duty DLCs. Not to mention their absolutely stupid decision to cancel popular game series' like Guitar Hero, Its a no brainer why EA is kicking their arses royally right now.

However, Survival mode is only playable with two people, which is a shame considering how much more fun the game would be with four. Overall this game is definitely not worth the $60 price tag, but if you've got a friend who you'd like to blast AI buddies with, maybe pick it up after a price drop. Spec ops is ok but gets very repetitive, with zombies in black ops you had a storyline and easter eggs to complete, spec ops is nothing but shoot and kill, it will never BE treyarch's zombies, it will never replace it.

The multiplayer is drowning in problems such as glitches, major lag and serious balancing issues. The maps are extremely small, (think of shipment from cod 4), and are badly designed with awful spawn locations that causes a lot of spawnkilling. Personally i found that Mw3's multiplayer was made up of: 1) spawn kill or 2) get spawn killed, no matter what game mode you play. Multiplayer was a big step back from black ops which had endless customisation options, MW3 has only a fraction of this.
Great features such as dive to prone have not been implemented in to mw3 which, again, is a big step back from black ops.
PC has even less support than MW2, with no ranked dedicated servers (another step back from black ops), which leads to countless hackers and cheaters, No adjustable FOV causes headaches and dizzyness when sitting close to the screen, IW dont understand most PC player sit on a desk with the monitor directly in front of them and console players tend to sit further away and have a tv which is why we need adjustable FOV. Now to the final part in the great list of MW3 problems: Call of Duty Elite
Having the idea of a subscription for getting map packs early is NOT a good idea since Activision already have a deal with Microsoft the ensures any DLC content must be released a month earlier than any other platform. This means that players on PS3 and PC that donâ

No effort or love for the PC. No ranked dedicated servers, really? Hardcore players got the shaft big time on game modes. The multiplayer maps are tiny and linear (Black Ops had better stock maps). All in all, I've taken poops more satisfying than playing MW3.

This game is by far the worst game that Call of Duty has created. Infinity Ward should be ashamed by how this game came out. Game play has not changed since CoD 4 and the campaign did not live up to expectations in the slightest. In my opinion Infinity Ward should take every copy of this game to a skeeter shooting range and take a few hours to put a shotgun shell into every copy.

Many things in the game were the same and didn't show any kind of dynamic change at all; making it feel like a 60$ map pack for Modern Warfare 2. The online play also was not enjoyable due to it just being everyone running around in random directions, with no one point of attack, and being shot to death in a quarter of a second. Personally, the only reason why the game had so many purchases was because of media-hype and because of the popularity it's gained over the years. During the Game of the Year Awards, it was basically handed the award for best first-person shooter because again, all the popularity. If you're actually looking for a good first-person shooter, I would most likely go with Black Ops or Battlefield 3. Expand

While I thoroughly enjoyed playing the game itself, one of my biggest gripes is with the prelude narration which sounds like it's being spoken by someone who's about 16 or 17 years old. Other than that, it's a great game with a lot of action and cinematic sequences.

The game is good, have a good singleplayer, but multiplayer isn't great thing, the maps are too linear and simple, the sound of the guns are strange and things like akimbo just crash the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. All right here's the review.

You may call me one of dissapointed fanboys, hater or whatsoever but here's the truth.

I think this game can be easily called Modern Warfail 2.5

Why? Because it even feels like and looks like it!
The game is ran on the same IW enginge that has been following the Call of Duty franchise for years now. The graphics cannot be compared to the newest FPS (first person shooters) games on sale nowadays. The saddest of it all, it actually really looks like slightly pimped version of Modern Warfare 2. Yes you heard right. Graphics are completely same with little bit of updates such as rendered sky or some gun effects but by honestly, On the first look you won't spot any difference from graphical side to Modern Warfare 2. I'm repeating, it's nothing horrible but simply cannot compete with the newest games on sale right now.

Next point I'll be focusing on are the mechanics.
What has dissapointed me most, and probobly all of you gamers it is the fact, not that it only looks like as the previous game Modern Warfare 2 but it also feels like playing it.

Also let me remind you a sad fact that IW employes claimed tweeting they'll take out some unwanted features such as panic knife, camp spots on map so they won't be like too horizontal - going from one side to another, lame perks, overpowered killstreak. Now I've played the game, all of these are nothing more but lies.

You will still be facing 10 yrs old raging kids with noobtubers, martydroms or the thing that really made least me laugh, killstreak such as juggernaut. I mean what in the hell is that?

It gives you something simular to godmode. I mean are you serious?

There is still the noobish quickscoping (Not the one in Call of Duty 4 - which was in my eyes decent and requiered least some skill). But the one that you can see in Modern Warfare 2. Just keep bashing mouse1 and mouse2 buttons and you'll be getting kills even if yuo don't know how.

There are also semi-automatic snipers but the funny part is, unlike in other series now you're able to one-hit-kill even with these bullet spamming machines.

Game modes? Completely the same modes that are carrying throughout the series for past years.
They added like 2 new modes but it didn't entertain me at all.

For those who don't know much about series.
Yes there aren't included anything like nazi zombies or like that this year.

Infinity Ward has once again abandoned any way of custom contest so that means there will be no custom made skins, patches, modes and so on.

Dedictated servers are gone once again so you won't see anything as clans (decent clans) / teams in this game. So to summarize :

This game has decent single player which connects to the story and is probobly the only bright side of the game. Yes I think we all can declare this game a patch for Modern Warfare 2.

    Everything is the same.

Just small bugfixes, some new weapons, maps and killstreaks.
    Nothing more.

By far I'm really dissapointed by this game and I don't feel like any downloadable contest can improve this.

Now here's the point you should really read and open yuor eyes.

This is a scam, a patch to Modern Warfare 2.

It's nothing that horrible but REALLY NOT WORTH THOSE 45 - 60 EURO.

    Thanks for reading

MW3 is a great game, I really enjoy the always fast pasted gameplay CoD has given to us. It runs great on PC, and the graphics are better than I thought it would be. Multiplayer is the best in MW3 the new leveling and killstreak system really makes the game alot more fun! Spec Ops survival mode is awesome, and Campaign is O.K. So overall MW3 is a great game, I highly recommend that you buy it.

More of the same old **** that came from MW2. I admit that I have played the original MW's single player and multiplayer and found it entertaining, but this is just milking the cow to a new low as there's absolutely nothing new added in this game at all. PC games used to be about a lot of things, all of which are dead today. It seems more and more that every PC shooter is a console port, more optimized for an in game friends list than dedicated servers and developer tools/support. It's fun to watch game critics tow the Activision line with this game series. It is also fun to watch the yearly advertising blitz aimed at idiots. I can't even get into the individual changes to this game series in particular over the years. Dots on radar, the disappearance of weapon recoil, the simplification or "idiotification" of many game mechanisms such as health packs turning into hide in a corner and regen health, or acquiring skill at shooting in a PC game being replaced by idiotic perks and killstreaks in the multiplayer. Singleplayer...I see reviews for it. You can't tell me anybody is actually shocked when they sit down and Call of Duty is once again a stupid implausible linear "kill all the bad guys" first person shooter. It has been the same single player experience over and over and over so if you're actually upset about that aspect of the game you should probably castrate yourself now before you infect the rest of our population with your potential genetically inferior offspring. If you're one of the poor saps who actually know what competition is and who is trying to find it in this game, I pity you. First person shooters are dead, but guess what everybody? You killed it. All of you. Every single last person who has bought and complained about this game is complaining about a fate which they have asked for. I didn't buy this game. I played some of it at a friend's house. I refused to buy it, just as I refused to buy Black Ops, MW2, and World at War (all of which can better be known as CoD4 reskin 1, 2, and 2a. MW3 (CoD4.2B) is a pile of crap because you made those games before it best sellers. You buy games you know will be the same old **** crap and you get mad that the game developer has screwed you over once again. Guess what? Buying the game tells them you like it and tells them to continue what they're doing. Before I end this review I want to say two more brief rants: 1. The numbering system is askew. Call of Duty didn't have a number but lets call it the first which warrants a second. Call of Duty 2 was appropriately enough named. Call of Duty 3 never made it to the PC. Call of Duty 4 introduced the sub-name Modern Warfare. The next game in the series was Call of Duty: World At War. This is where things break down. Shouldn't it be Call of Duty 5: World At War? In linear terms, not counting expansions, World at War was the 5th Call of Duty game. Then they released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. What??? You mean Call of Duty 6? Why did they number CoD4 and assign a sub-name? Why did they do away with numbers, and then re-introduce them to number sub names? In the future could we end up with "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 6: Desert Combat 4: Infantry Squad 8"?? 2. The reasoning for a change from WW2 to more modern times was that WW2 was "played out" as a genre. Sadly, the weapons called for better balance between opposing forces so games didn't break down into the chaos of Famas vs. Famas or AK vs. AK in every god damn server. We had CoD, CoD2, and that was it for official WW2 releases. Of course we had CoD3 on the console (largely forgotten as a game) and the expansion to CoD, CoD: United Offensive which was also largely forgotten, but it was 2 major PC releases for the WW2 genre and then it was considered played out. Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, and Modern Warfare 3 have since been released, all of which deal with more or less modern military action. Why is it that 2 WW2 games from 2003-2005 warranted dropping the genre forever other than that horrible World at War re-skin of CoD4, while Modern Warfare, an infinitely less balanced and less interesting area is thrust to the forefront for the better part of 6 years? CoD sucks. Expand
