Just finished a 10 hour session of Borderlands 3. I seriously don't understand what all the fuss is about. Review bombing because of Epic store? So let's discuss my honest thoughts about it WITHOUT rating epic store:

    - To adress the performance complaints on here: honestly I'm so confused about all the optimisation drama... I had a session with three friends, noone had any problems - not a single crash for anyone, no performance problems, lags or bugs at all

    Pros:

    - performance overall is FINE, not great but okay. I used a GTX 1070 and got consistent 60 fps on 1440p, medium settings; my mate uses a RX 580 and was able to play at 1440p, medium settings and 50-60 fps

    - the graphics look pretty great to me. What elso should you expect on the technical side? It's Borderlands and it still looks like Borderlands, just with sharper textures and more impressive level design

    - Weapon designs and variety is AMAZING in my opinion. I keep finding cool new guns every 2 minutes and it really adds to the gameplay. Some really creative designs here as expected

    - New classes aren't bland or boring to me, they feel fresh and are great to play

    Neutral:

    - story is fine until now; sure nothing mind blowing but come on... people act like Borderlands 2 had some mind blowing, next level narrative (it didn't)... this game is on par with the previous ones when it comes to plot so I'm fine with it

    - humour is cringy, agreed. But that's exactly what I expected... and what is known for the series... like seriously, you keep praising BL 2 which was just as cringy. It's no big deal for me

    - the gameplay is bland at first but gunfights get harder and more fun once you get off the first planet and get some level ups. At level 20 I have a great time trying different builds and weapon combinations

    Cons:

    - Side quest design is lackluster at some points

    - Enemy AI is actually just dumb but I hardly notice it because so of the sheer amount of ennemies coming at you

    - Some loads time are long but still fine on an SSD

    - the series did very little to evolve in terms of story telling, quest design or gameplay; what you get is more Borderlands ... but on the plus side you get WAY more... the game has a really long campaign with tons of quests, enought to justify its price tag honestly

OVERALL: To me, it's exactly what I expected. More Borderlands. Fun gunfights, a boatload of fun weapons, cheesy dialouge, crazy action and a blast to play with friends. I can't report any technical problems or crashes.

Don't go into it expecting anything revolutionary because it isn't. But stop acting like Borderlands 2 is much better when it's not - BL 3 is a solid evolution of a working formula. If you like BL 2 and have some friends to pick up, you will have a fun time. The game is no 10 but I'll go ahead and rate it 10 in an attempt to even the score out just a little. It really doesn't deserve a 4,7.

Unfortunately, not much else has improved. The menus, the missions, the music. More of the same. To be clear: I don't think these things are bad. They're all distinctly "Borderlands". What I do think is that there should have been more improvements to how the game plays when you aren't blasting your enemies and making them curse their parents' copulation.

Overall it is a very solid game but it is good. Not great.

Yet i didnt finished all side quest by faaar. My mission total was 39/95. So more then half missions are waiting for me in new game + (True vault hunter mode) Then circle of slaughter, proving graunds, guardian ranks etc. And thats all in BASE GAME. There will be many free updates and also 4 huge dlcs.
There are more then 180+ legendary items, while BL2 had around 90. Thats incredible.

Game runs well on med-high with mid range setup:
    Ryzen 3 1200 (not overclocked)
    RX 580 4gb
    32GB ram

Easily 60 avarage. Sometimes drop to 40-50, but open world and most of the time even in fights 60 and more. Only issue is micro stutter while aiming with long range scopes. But thats not all the time.

Thats without any patches and additions. They will release patches soon and it will be even better.

You wont regret it. If you like BL series, its a must. If you like division, destiny, its a must buy.

It's better than previous entries and a blast to play. I assume the negatives are due to the Epic store, but I created an Epic account just for this game and I do not regret it one bit. It expands on everything that was good about BL2 and there is plenty to do.

Borderlands has always been one of my favorite franchises, the guns, the characters, the writing that never takes itself seriously. A plethora of things makes Borderlands the beloved series it it today, and Borderlands 3 joins those games on the top shelf.

I've been reading alot of complaints about the optimization, but honestly, aside from a couple dumb bugs (Brick getting stuck in a trashcan, enemies hilariously ragdolling away) I'm getting some pretty solid gameplay. Solid framerates with a couple hiccups here and there with big explosions, I honestly have no issues. Definitely not as bad as alot of people are making it out to be or maybe I'm just lucky

The writing (story-wise) is okay, nothing too special, luckily not too predictable or boring. the voice acting is above average and the jokes are... Well... kinda bad, but also kind of funny in an old-person-trying-to-be-hip kind of way

The guns are back and boy, are they back. In borderlands 2 and TPS, I really only used Jakobs weapons, every other gun felt pretty inferior (unless they were legendary) because the other in-game weapon manufacturers weren't really viable in all situations like Jakobs weapons were, but in Borderlands 3, this issue is not only resolved, but conquered. Every weapon manufacturer feels completely different from one another and (aside from atlas) all of the guns I've found were very viable and fun to use, and even though they weren't viable in EVERY situation (like Jakobs) they definitely filled their roles alot better. They all feel unique and powerful in their own way

The new playable vault hunters are fun to listen to and fun to play, they all feel extremely unique compared to one another, and the skills and augments really change up the way you play. The skins and cosmetics are nic and the new ability to change the color palette of your favorite skin ands an unprecedented level of customization.

The enemies aren't nearly as cool or interesting as Handsome Jack but, come on, can you really expect anyone to live up to him? The boss fights really shine in this game, there's alot of them and they're all unique, the loot drops are good, and sometimes even a bit generous so farming these guys is very much worth it. Especially for their boss-unique loot, which returns from the previous games.

The locations and planets look great, aside from some awkward lighting. The explorable planets are unique and the Flora and fauna definitely immerse you in it's world. They all feel so different from eachother, from the dry dusty Pandora we all love, the swampy Eden-6 and now, exploring and getting around is easier than ever, the lack of need for a fast travel machine to teleport around is an amazing change that makes back-tracking and moving between areas much faster and easier, and with different vehicles to choose from, it's incredibly easy to just go around and discover stuff.

Despite all these great things, the game isn't without it's faults. A couple personal gripes I have with the game are 1. The needless Epic Games Exclusivity 2. Randy Pitchforks himself 3. Horizontal only split screen (???!!! Why) 4. Alot of really dumb poop-jokes. 5. Lack of borderlands 3 forums on epic games. (I hate having to use 3rd party review sites.
But other than that, it's a fun game with alot to do. If you didn't like the previous borderlands games, this isn't really for you, if you did, you'll love it

Just the BL2 sequel I was expecting. The game easily beats every single aspect of BL2.

The best thing is the mayhem it generates in every combat. IA is better, no more "shooting gallery" sensation. Graphics are much better... animations in every situation. OST is awesome!!!

    And bigger explosions!!!

Only one thing... I miss Krieg a lot :'(

Boderlands 3 is the third (technically fifth if you count TPS and TFTB) game in the Boderlands series. If I could describe this game, it would be "more Borderlands". It makes improvements from the previous entries but still retains many of the base concepts from them. You're not going to find anything groundbreaking or revolutionary here, but why reinvent the wheel when it already works well enough? My first ten hours of the game so far have been fine with a constant 60 FPS with everything on high (using a 1070) and only one issue popping up so far (character got stuck and had to FT to get myself unstuck), although the M&KB controls take some getting used to (especially for vehicles) and I find the "Humor" the writers employed to be overly irritating and juvenile at times ("The Big Succ", really?).

If you've liked any one of previous games, you'll probably like this one. If you didn't like any of them, then you'll probably not like this one.

Slight optimization issues running on Medium with a 1600x and 2060 6gb, but I never dipped below 60.

My biggest gripe is the quest tracking/map system as constantly swapping to different quests then having to go back to the map is super annoying, especially as the map zooms in and rotates each time you enter its screen.

All in all, nothing game breaking and gearbox has a fantastic patch record for supporting games and getting content/fixes out quickly. Happy to see where this fantastic shooter goes!

Borderlands 3 is not an evolution of the series the way Borderlands 2 was. Instead, it takes what was great about Borderlands 1 and 2 and cranks these components up to 11. The detailed and varied settings combined with the enhanced gunplay and loot system make for a rewarding moment to moment experience the remains fresh even 25 hours into the game. Sadly though the campy tone of Borderlands 3 comes at its expense as the jokes not only fail to land but actually inspire discomfort. Come for the loots, stay for the setting, and ignore the story.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------The Father-------------------------------------------------------------------

I played Borderlands 1 way back in the day and loved it. Borderlands 1 was a bit goofy but was significantly darker than Borderlands 2 (and now 3). It did the Fallout 3 thing where it Juxtaposed goofy characters and ideas against a grim and hopeless setting. The overall gameplay and feel of the game was great and the idea of it was original. The loot system developed in this game and the setting were original enough to be interesting and fun to see. Ultimately the guns all felt the same and the setting, while interesting at first, grew bland in the later portions of the game. Borderlands 1 remains an interesting if flawed experience elevated by its core ideas but held back by small components.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------The Son----------------------------------------------------------------------

Borderlands 2 found its tone a little better than Borderlands 1 though. It was a more light-hearted adventure with funny and charming characters. Its expansive settings, deep loot system, and improvements to every aspect of the game put it way above the already fun (but flawed) Borderlands 1. The guns all felt unique and the variety of weapons coupled with the detailed maps and funny writing allowed it to become something of a legend in the gaming community. Gearbox listened to what the fans said and the improvements from B1 to B2 were immense and made for a fantastic experience that we all loved

    -----------------------------------------------------------The Unholy Ghost-------------------------------------------------------------

Then we get to Borderlands the pre-sequel which was a disappointment by nearly all standards. Where Borderlands 2 made a huge jump from Borderlands 1, Borderlands the PS felt like a DLC- and a somewhat poor one at that. Gone were the varied environments, gone was the charm and detail, and gone was originality displayed in both prior titles. The PS should have been a 30$ DLC that earned a 7.5/10 rating for its size and scale but only a 7.5 due to its glaring writing and technical issues. Instead, we paid 60$ for the addition of oxygen consumption mechanics and laser guns.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------The New kid----------------------------------------------------------------

Now we get to Borderlands 3 and the question was on everyone's head. Would this be like Borderlands 2 and make a big jump in quality or would it be a fancy DLC like Borderlands the PS. The answer: neither.
Borderlands 3 feels different enough where it is its own distinct game. The settings are wildly more varied than in any previous title and the games overall "feel" is that of a Borderlands 1 style game. The desert setting with the lone western guitar strumming along slowly as you make your way from bandit to bandit brings back the feeling for Borderlands 1. The gameplay though is much tighter and the overall combat mechanics are better than ever. Shooting is punchy and responsive and the weapons are very different with each assault rifle and pistol feeling different from one another. As the game goes along the settings open up and you find yourself in swamps, forests, deserts, tundras, and crazy alien planets. The varied setting style of Borderlands 2 was cranked up to 11 here and it makes things continuously fresh and interesting.

But there are issues. On console, my experience has been fantastic- no technicaly issues after 20+ hours of play. That being said PC players are having issues and they are making that clear in this board.

The biggest issue though is the writing. I have to be honest- it sucks. Perhaps at my age I have grown a bit more mature and the campy innuendo jokes just don't do it for me anymore. That being said Borderlands 2 made me laugh quite a bit. Handsome Jack and the supporting cast where hilarious and their jokes made for a better experience. Here I find myself cringing at the jokes and have yet to really laugh. It alls feels like it is trying way too hard.

Gearbox has a problem: the fantastic Borderlands 2 is too good to be beaten. But in the case of Borderlands 3, it is still more than a worthy successor. The filmmakers brought many pop-cultural references, maybe pushing too hard on how they want to be “modern”, but otherwise it's a great game again. [Issue#298]

Borderlands 3 offers a generous experience, with colourful characters, neat gameplay and a charming universe. Its formula, very close to that of the previous episodes does not revolutionize the show but its small new features bring a little freshness and the scenario makes us want to go to the end of the adventure. Its dynamism and nervousness make it a choice piece for adrenaline-ready FPS lovers and license fans.
