I would give this an 8.5 if the dx12 was fixed. The game runs great in dx 12 on my radeon VII but it takes forever to get into the game at the start and then i have to change the resolution to 1440p before i can switch back to 4k at 75% resolution. I think there should be options to change the resol

The game is fun but my only complaint is about the performance and I think is thanks to denuvo , I can’t make the game run stable even with this component, rtx2080 ti,intel core i7 9700,32gb of ram , I’ve been trying to run the game with a resolution of 2560x1440 and everything on ultra but I had to go down to High and even in high , the frame rate sometime drops under 50

It's. Solid. Not great, but Solid The characters are worse, the guns can feel better or worse, the SMG's and assault rifles are very good, Maliwan weapons aren't. I don't think this should be the considered a best game. It's nowhere near the greatness that was Borderlands 2; 2/3rds of the way through the game.

First off, can't say anything about the graphics/fps lag mainly due to me having a 2080, however I can justify for the random crashes and having some bugs such as mission completion, weapon reloading bugs, etc. To be honest, the reason why this is a 5 not a 3 is because well its a borderlands game and within the franchise.

Second off, I would say the most disappointing aspect for me was the story. I personally play borderlands mainly for the story, partly for the guns and loot base grinding, however I would say borderlands 3 has one of the most underwhelming stories in the entire franchise. The characters are bland and have no particular backstory, and none of the characters really translate into the past character's playstyle (except maybe moze the gunner to axton). The game feels heavily repetitive and the maps of different planets are boring, bosses are too easy, and overall this doesn't feel like a standard borderlands game with loot grinding and a good story. It just feels like the devs rushed this game to sellout into the market to be part of the borderlands franchise.

    However there are some pros:
    + beautiful graphics
    + borderlands style "cheesy" comedy
+ side quests are relatively good
+ new guns, new combat techniques

This is an actual review from someone else here, who gave it a perfect 10. Games with so many bugs, frame rate problems, unplayable splitscreens, and other things don't deserve a 10. I'm a big Borderlands fan- The 2nd game is one of my favorite games of all time and is rightfully thought of as a classic.

There are many problems with the current iteration of BL3 though, so if I were you I'd toss all these recent "10" reviews out the door. Don't believe the corporate schills who've been sent in to try and mitigate this launch disaster- This is an enjoyable game 1) if you play solo and 2) when it works correctly. Menu lag is really bad across all platforms. Items can randomly permanently disappear from your stash forever. Your PC may crash while playing. Your CONSOLE may crash while playing. Resolution mode is included for those with a PS4 Pro yet is laggy as hell on the actual PS4 Pro and doesn't run properly.

The guns themselves feel better this time around. Shotguns & hand grenades in particular are really powerful-feeling and great. The map areas are very huge and kind of force you to use vehicles to get around, so if you're not too keen on the "Borderlands driving mechanics" you may not like this. Sanctuary's layout (the hub level) is overly-complicated and confusing for a good while. The story is not good overall and many of the new NPCs are terribly-written. Thank god for Lilith at least!

It's too bad Gearbox and 2K seem to be more focused on selling us the next DLC rather than fix their broken game that was rushed out the door.

The whole point of a review like this is to review the product, not the drama surrounding it, and that's what I intend to do.

Full disclosure: this is a first impression, I have a few hours into the game and got to the second planet available in the main story. I have not finished the story nor reached the level cap so I cannot give any opinions on the end-game or Guardian level system.

The game is currently plagued by many technical issues. The problem I dealt with, primarily, was stuttering, particularly when aiming down weapon sights. This is an issue that may be fixed in a future patch, though the game should not have been released in this state.

Assuming you know what older Borderlands games were like, this game is essentially a simple iteration of the Borderlands formula. Many mechanics present in previous games have been carried over and improved upon. One of the biggest improvements in core gameplay mechanics are the shooting mechanics, evidently inspired by Bungie's title - Destiny. Weapons have a much more visceral feeling to them than previous titles, due to a combination of better animations, sound design, etcetera.

Aside from the many bugs and technical problems, how much you enjoy Borderlands 3 will depend largely on what you are actually looking for from this title. If you are simply looking for more Borderlands, this can sate your hunger, at least once the bugs are fixed. If you are looking for something more ambitious, you may want to look elsewhere.

I, for one, don't see being predictable and iterative as an inherently bad thing.

The character classes are well done, they all seem balanced and fun. My one gripe, and I’m sure this is many people’s gripe who enjoy playing with a buddy/partner at home, why is there is NO VERTICAL SPLIT-SCREEN at launch? I can forgive the lag, obviously the guys at Gearbox needed more time to optimize and will do so in the future via patches, but no vertical split screen is a couch co-op KILLER for this game. Horizontal just doesn’t work on modern sets. Add two points to my score if it’s patched in the future. Other than that, long story short it’s still in beta at launch. If you don’t have patience for that, the solution is simple; wait. Expand

The mini-map still kind of sucks as per tradition but the full-size map was improved some. The playable classes are decent. Plenty of guns and variations, as usual. Visuals were pretty great.

I had maybe 2 crashes in 40+ hours of playing so I can't speak to the issues others are complaining about. Running an i5-9600k, 16gb RAM, and RTX 2070 8gb with DX12. My frame rate and temps were pretty normal. Nothing unusual there for me.

The boss battles seemed like they were improved. It was good to see some new enemies introduced. The story was alright but I wasn't really invested to be honest. The humor didn't seem to grab me like the first two games but it's possibly just because I'm older now and I'm not as involved in "Internet culture." Kind of cringe at times. Borderlands has always been a bit over the top though so I suppose it fits.

I did notice a few glitches with the inventory and enemies at times. Not too surprising and I imagine they get cleaned up soon. Overall, I'd recommend it if you're a fan of the series. After they push out all the DLC, I'd really like to see them move on to a new IP or expand in other ways. I feel like it's on the verge of getting stale.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall i'd say it's a great game but the endgame needs a polish. Obviously it's early days so I can't judge it too harshly but the high drop rates and guns having exactly the same gear score and fire power for the most part is a bit of a let down at level 50.

My 2 main criticisms of Borderlands 3:

    - The endgame is stale. After level 50 the guns are all fairly on par in terms of power, looking at purple and oranges only barring anointed weapons. The endgame itself is also stale at the moment as there is nothing to do after 100% galaxy completion and TVHM as TVHM was also just a copy of normal mode and offered nothing new. Obviously this will be improved in future updates but as of now I feel like after hitting 50 and getting a few guardian ranks and some decent unique weapons the game is just done and there is no farming or fun replay-ability. The loot drops at end game are too common and too similar in power that it doesn't feel satisfying when a purple or orange drops.

    - There are a few bugs in end game which make the game look a little unpolished 2 examples being the fact you can get over 100% galaxy completion, and the other being your guardian rank can go to a minus number which is also pretty game breaking. The second obviously being a bigger bust. Again they will probably patch this but it still adds a lack of functionality. A few annoying glitches too such as circle of slaughter enemies being stuck in walls.

    Regarding the characters:

I have only played Zayne and have 40 hours in the game. I am not a motivated person therefore will not be playing the other characters soon as Zayne is clearly the strongest and fastest character, and I find running at 3-4x the default run speed fun and other characters can't do that.

    Regarding the comedy:

It has never really bothered me, I am indifferent to the comedy in borderlands as some of it can give a mild inner giggle and some you just shrug off, but it's fairly harmless either way and it's a waste of energy to be annoyed at comedy :). The side quests have always been a bigger part of the comedy and some of them are pretty humorous: an example being the buff movie buff | tommy wiseau parody.

    Regarding the guns:

I feel like SMG's are too strong. Otherwise there is a lot of choice and the guns do feel different and fun to use.

    Regrading the enemies:

The variety in enemies in borderlands 3 is pretty amazing, the design of these enemies in contrast to their planets makes them feel like new enemies have been in Borderlands forever. An example of this being the Jabbers and Eden 6.

    Regarding the bosses:

The bosses are a tad bit too easy. I feel like the later bosses are far too easy making it feel like less of an experience to remember. The mechanics are fine but they could do with being sped up like they can be with mayhem mode. There are no invincible bosses as of yet which is disappointing.

    Regarding the story:

The story felt fun to play through and I don't really have any major criticisms for it as I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to the DLC and how they will advance the story and create new ones.

    Regarding the characters:

I was a little disappointed that some characters weren't in it as much such as Kreig, Gaige and Ned but this was outdone by some new characters which I enjoyed - Balex being a new favorite, and let's just pretend Ava doesn't exist. For me pretty much all the characters introduced on Eden 6 are top content

    Other notes:

The planetary system and the planet themed music was well created and gave me a ratchet and clank vibe which was a nice nostalgic moment. I am not a fan of the new map system where it turns the mini-map blue when you explore it as I feel it looks better when an entire zone is covered when it is unexplored and vise versa.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay is fantastic. Lots of cool weapons and fun playing with friends. However, I am really sick and tired of the stupid and boring main story of the game. To let a main character die in order to enrich the story? Again? Seriously? Well it's true that in borderlands 2 Roland died as well, but at least he died for his cause. But why Maya? Her death really depressed me as I used this character throughout borderlands 2 and then she died for an extremely stupid reason in 3? It's pretty much like in the Witcher 3 Geralt saved the world from the wild hunt after all the efforts he and his friends had made and became a hero finally, and then died simply by falling off the hill? As far as the game goes, it's ok. Clearly there was some shady **** going on with who got review copies, and the copies they DID get, were either not played in online co-op, or using very early builds because none of the reviews talk about the myriad of technical problems this game has.

    The good:

The game is fun. These are probably the best, base vault hunters the series has seen, which exude a lot of personality and actually interact with the story. A lot of returning characters have more personality as well, and play a bigger role in the story. Each of the vault hunters have various customization options in their play styles, as well as customization. Probably the best the series has ever seen. The story is pretty good, while the villains don't quite reach the same highs as Handsome Jack. They're serviceable, interesting at times, and still better than the first game or Pre-Sequel. There are so many quality of life improvements that it feels so much nicer than previous games. The game is incredibly fun and, while non borderlands fans won't find much to enjoy here, fans who were looking for more Borderlands, will.

    The bad:

The game is LOADED with technical issues. DirectX12 causes severely long load times and frame rate issues, the game has crashed on a 2 friends, both of which have pretty good PCs. Even the highest ends pc's will still see frame rate drops, lag, and apparently the game has a constant online drm that sucks up 2mb/s of upload at all times, spelling trouble for some people who may want to stream the game but don't have amazing internet. There are various workarounds to get some slightly better performance, but it's inexcusable that these are even needed, and not even guaranteed to even work. The story, while interesting at times, can also be pretty predictable. Certain moments in the story we've called out the second the villains showed up, or the second a character starts talking in a particular way. While the fan service in the game is strong, the game is fun, and very entertaining, it may be better for event the most excited vault hunters, to wait on this game until a patch roles out to fix this god awful performance problems, mostly on PC. Consoles are suffering some of the same issues, but at least everyone on console is getting the same experience, whereas it varies machine to machine on PC. Wait for a patch to get the all clear on the game.

+ There were some pretty girls in the game. In cut scenes, I had a fun time finding the best camera angles to ogle the boobs and butts. To be 13 again...

    Cons:
    - The main villains are weak and uninteresting characters with a boring story line and motivations. Granted, this is not a game about the story, but Borderlands 2 showed you could have a much more interesting villain than this. These are just comically evil characters that do bad things because they need one-dimensional villains to move the plot forward. I could not skip through the CoV cut scenes fast enough.
    - I feel like I've grown out of the edgy humor and teenage angst portrayed in the narrative. It's more a con of me getting older.
    - I found the game very easy. I rarely died, and didn't feel like there was much skill or challenge in the fights. Point at the thing you want to die and hold the trigger; move forward and repeat. I barely used special powers or grenades because there wasn't much point.
    - Obnoxious DLC sales push. OMG, they are trying way to hard to sell you DLC in game with constant in-your-face reminders.
    - On PC, I had a few crashes. At one point I had to google how to restore a corrupted save game after one of the crashes.

Buying advice: If you're a fan looking for more Borderlands, this is fine. If you're new to the series, start with Borderlands 2, and come back to this if you want more. I'd pay $20 for the base game, but I'm not really interested in playing the DLC.

That being said though, the story is something that really hinders this game. Handsome Jack from the previous entry is such an iconic villain and the pressure of getting a good successor to him must have been one of the most stressful aspect of making the game, however the calypso twins are very bland and surface level characters that really don't see any developments as the story progresses, except doubling down of how annoying they can be. To say that they are bland villains would honestly be an understatement, and with how they play into the narrative, basically only showing up to absolutely and randomly mess with you and have your character play literally no role in the story except being an errand boy for the real main characters. The narrative really started to take a turn for the worse when you get to the "beneath the meridian" mission and really doesn't treat their characters in a fair way, to try and illustrate this without spoiling too much, they try to recreate the emotional tension from Rolands death but skip every development from his character in 2 and introduce a character that really doesn't add to the series. The bordelands series has never really been known for it's revolutionary story telling but given how the characters are treated and the massive focus on new characters it's sad to see how the best aspect of the series falls flat.

    TL:DR
Gameplay is amazing, story is horrible and doesn't do it's predecessor justice. If you are new to borderlands play this first, that's the best way to get the most enjoyment from its 30-50 hour story.

This is the best borderlands as a shooter, but there is 2 real big problems:
    1. Main story - just terrible.
    2. Characters to play are not interesting itself.

But I like a lot how the weapon feels, the dynamics, the process of killing mobs .

The comedy might not be "edgy" enough for 2019 people but it's still trademark borderlands humor. While the story might not be as compelling and some aspects of the game fall flat in comparison to recent titles, i think it's a fun game and successor to the franchise. Try making three masterpieces in a row. Did anybody ever accomplish such a feat? Rating this game a 0 because of a missing vertical splitscreen is just one reason why you should always take user score with a grain of salt. This game obviously is not finished and has a lot of problems, that have to be resolved by gearbox. For that reason i think it's fair to give this game a low score, also to make them aware of these issues. Still, i enjoy Borderlands 3 and once the early issues have been resolved i'd gladly update my rating to an 8. Expand

This game has heart and is a good continuation to Borderlands 2. BUT it suffers severely to performance issues, bugs, and crashes. This is just another reason why players need a demo or beta of some sort to test the game before it officially comes out to test what needs to be fixed.

The performance issues are rampant. Scoped weapons create lag-spikes around 1/10th a second which continue as long as you're ADS, making it incredibly hard to play with scoped weapons or any weapon with more than 2x zoom (which isn't a lot of zoom, even). It's not unplayable, but you have to make some sacrifices while playing; it's not unforgivable, but it's seriously bad. I think calling it badly optimized is somewhat wrong. There are specific problems like I said with ADS, but when you're not doing that, you actually get really good frames. i get a consistent 50-60 FPS on high settings with a GTX 1070 (while not triggering stuttering), and the game looks incredibly fresh, at that.

Underneath the performance issues, though, you've got a seriously good game. They haven't reinvented the franchise, but I'd want to say they'd perfected it, but perhaps that's a bit too strong wording. I'm confident is saying that they've continued the legacy of the last entries in a good way. If the last game was an over-all 9/10, I'd say this one might be an 8/10, excluding the rocky launch. When it comes to mechanics, it's incredibly similar to the previous games, but the things that they have added feel pretty innovative (only one I thought was bad, but it's only mission specific).

Currently, the most helpful review claims it's a buggy mess with constant crashes, low frame rate, lag, screen tearing, a forgettable story and stupid humor. I've played about 25h so far, and I've encountered a single crash. Performance, I'll agree: it's not a **** as it gets, but it's far from good. Screen tearing? I don't know if this person has been using V-Sync or not, but I have and I've not noticed it tearing once. Forgettable story? Not at all. I think it gets a little stale at some points, but so did the story in the last game, but it didn't last for long then, and it doesn't now either. They've done a lot to spice things up, and there are some really memorable bosses and missions out there. And as for the stupid humor? Really? It's the same as it always was. If you didn't like how it's always been, that's on you, but nothing has really changed.

If the performance stuff gets fixed, this game is easily an 8/10, overall.

I think people are giving this game way too crap because of Gearbox and Epic game store. Ill set those cancers aside.
Story - This is a hard one, Since borderlands 2's story was pretty good and Jack as the best villian of all games this game would have no chances of beating the story to borderlands 2. But the story is... Serviceable? It's not great nor not the **** but I did like it.

The gunplay is great, graphics look great and the music is awesome as always. I know some may not like the change in art direction but I think the brighter colors give it a futuristic feel that fits well with the series moving off Pandora. The story isn't fantastic but is good enough for a Borderlands game to keep you interested enough and while I wouldn't say its a riot the jokes still land well for the most part. The DLCs have also been good thus far, improving on characters and story beats from the main game. However, there is just so much damn waiting. The game loads slow, especially on co-op and has a tendency to crash when trying to get back to Sanctuary, which you have to do an absurd amount of times. This has been improving with newer hotfixes but is still really annoying. The gameplay also makes you wait, why the hell does every single boss become invincible at some point during their fight? It feels like game time padding and is not fun. Then there's the story slowing you down too. In the first game there were only a few mandatory dialogue scenes and all quests you could read the description if you wanted to or just skip over it if you didn't care about the story and weren't stuck waiting. Whereas this one nearly every quest makes you wait to listen to someone talk and dont try to jump ahead of them because you'll have to go back and pick something up from them. That's my main issue with this game is the sheer amount of waiting to get to the actual gameplay. Wait to load, wait to listen to dialogue, wait for boss to not be immune. If they went back to letting the gameplay move you along and not halting it so much with long dialogue and drawn out immunity boss fights that would make it much more enjoyable. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I bought this game both on Steam & Stadia, they both run very good and I am actually surprised how extremely good it runs and looks on Stadia. I bought BL3 after finally getting tired of BL1, 2 & TPS.

I love BL3 but not as much as BL2, the gunplay is alot better in BL3 in my opinion, story is decent, playable characters are fun but there is one big issue I have with BL3 and that is how easy it is right off the bat (playing on Normal), i've done multiple playthroughs now and every single time I get overpowered legendaries at around lvl 3-5 that I can bring down bosses up to lvl 15 with in about 5-8 seconds, the spread on loot needs to be tuned down, less legendaries and more purples would be alot better.

Reason for this is because every time I do a new game, I don't have to upgrade my gear every level, I can use lvl 3-4 legendaries up until about lvl 15 before I need to change, the whole game is about getting better loot, the sellpoint of BL has always been, "A billion guns", "A gazillion guns" etc, you know what I'm talking about and this is completely pointless in BL3, loot barely matters. Sure there is anointment weapons which is basiically the new "legendary" but this system completely removes the need for green and blue items during the whole first playthrough on Normal, it takes away the fun that Borderlands has always been about and it does that right from the start.

Would I recommend this game? Hell yes, it's a blast to play but for old BL players you may be disappointed and positively surprised at the same time.

I wanted to like this game but I just couldn't get into it. i've played other borderlands games before and had a great time spraying bullets mindlessly. This game looks great and plays well but the story and progression felt bad to me. If you want the 'Borderlands' loot' n shoot then this is a definite upgrade from older games. POSITIVES:
    - Graphics look great. It's the same art style but look a lot cleaner and leaner
    - Guns feel good to shoot. Bullets aren't slow and actually feel like they make an impact
    - Ton of custom gun options. Each gun can have different modifiers and will have you grinding loot to find your perfect gun
    - Still plenty of potty humor

    NEGATIVES:
    - Progression feels a little too quick and it feels like you outgrow guns very quickly. This leads to constantly switching to higher level weapons in order to deal decent damage (hard to get attached). Also the amount of rare/legendary weapons that you acquire take out the feeling of accomplishment.
    - Character that you can pick from are rather generic in terms of personality. They also all felt kind of out of date with their references (a little cringe)
    - The main villains weren't very compelling and got old quick. They kind of felt like a boomer's perspective on zoomers.
    - There were definitely points in the story that could have been completely avoided but somehow managed happen. Really killed the vibe of the game to me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's more of the same which isn't a bad thing. There really isn't anything new or revolutionary over previous games. It could have been DLC and accomplished the same thing. Again, not necessarily a bad thing.

The issues that bring this game down over its predecessors is the story and the bugs. On the story side this game was just dull and went on entirely too long. Spoiler - by mid game every major mission ended with you doing a lot of shooting to get something and then the bad guys magically appear out of nowhere, take it all away and wipe out everybody on your team. It doesn't matter that they couldn't handle whatever the challenge was themselves, they always immediately disable you and there is nothing you can do about it. Rinse and repeat over the back half of the game and it just becomes incredibly dull. Towards the end of the game the villains are even considered invincible and have powers that, if they were real, would completely wipe you out with no chance of winning. And yet you still have the traditional boss fight at the end where suddenly you are able to defeat them even though you couldn't the entire game before. This just reeks of a slapped on story.

The other big issue is with the premise that you have a ship and can go to other planets. Yet every planet looks exactly like the others and they all look like the places from B2. One would have assumed that they would have used the "planets" as a way to show different biomes like perhaps an ice world or something from the pre-quel but they didn't. It is just the same biome over and over again. Really a letdown given this was hyped up before the games release.

On the bugs side the loading times on a fast machine is awful. I can boot Windows in 10 seconds and this game takes over a minute to start even on an nvime drive with more CPU power than the game needs. And then as soon as the load screen appears it freezes for another 10 seconds or so. And if you do an update and it has to refresh the shaders then you might as well go to lunch.

Once in the game the perf is generally OK but bugs are still plenty. I played co-op and my partner lost the ability to hear cutscenes after a while, the name indicators over each other's heads stopped working and there were stutters throughout. At the end of the game after a particular cutscene the next cutscene started playing (so many of them) and the subtitles from a cutscene a while back was stuck on the screen. My co-op partner didn't even see the subtitles. The subtitles stuck around every cutscene after that until we stopped playing.

As far as loot it was seriously screwed up compared to previous games. The best loot we got was from normal kills. Every time the game hyped up a vault or a cool boss we got white or green weapons. It was rare to get blues or better. It was particularly funny when towards the end of the game one of the NPCs gave us his "personal" weapon to help in the upcoming boss fight and it was a white for both of us. Overall the loot just seemed weak compared to previous games. I stuck with my lower level legendary weapons from mid game all the way until end because they simply were better than everything else.

Overall this is more of the same. It doesn't in any way move the series folder and could have just been a DLC and been just as good. The story and loot were bad compared to other games and it just went on way longer than it needed to with no real benefit.

I've figured out what my gripe is with Borderlands 3. It doesn't feel like a Borderlands game. It feels like a spin-off of a Borderlands game, which is a shame because the playable characters are pretty cool concepts. Then, the show airs and most of the fans stop watching after the first episode. They hyped the hell out of this game, boasting how it was open world, and it doesn't even feel like a world. The planets feel empty, soulless, devoid of any wow-factor. Any enemies you run into only exist as the subjects of quests dragging you to and fro. I thought that, maybe, if I tried it on PC (as it's free to try on Steam for the next 5 days), I might like it better than I did on PS4. Nope. The combat and gameplay is a lot smoother, but there's still no life signs on Pandora. Expand

However my main gripe has to be the cringiness of the characters and boring story, therefore this lowers the score a bit for me personally.
However, as a pure looter shooter BDL3 is one of the best, and truth be told, i even think it exceeds the previous games.
The fact that they cut some parts out of the story and sold it separately (not referring to season pass) also doesn't help. I personally hate this cash grabbing scheme a whole lot!
So in all fairness i would rate this game between 7.5 and 8 but not above because it's overall lacking in several ways. However i can only speak for the PC version on Epic, so it might be a bit better on other programs and whatnot.
But for me, it's certainly not going to be as memorable as with the previous titles so yeah it is what it is. The game is great, yet not as epic as could be for me.

Elemental damage can be so much BS which drains the health all the way to zero (which sucks when no enemy about to leech a second wind off). Activating Iron Bear with Moze just before negates the elemental BS attacks (and anything near death), I found Moze a good character for a solo run. Anything that vampires health is also very useful in solo runs. Only in co-op can a player be usually revived by another player. I think the robot character pet can do it though?

This game is all about loot and chasing the next gun, nade, shield, boost, etc. Sometimes it can be annoying swaping out a fave fun gun due to levelling up making it to weak against higher levels.

Borderlands series used to be intentional parody and satire. This time Borderlands 3 writing is looks like it was written by bunch of angry feminists and guys who have issues with the girlfriends boyfriends? So yeah it’s loads of fun to laugh at (not with). Hey are we supposed to like Ava? All she does is get people killed and shout at other people for it?

This is dumbest fight mechanics I saw in my entire life. There is too many of them spawning and holy sh** how they reduce fun from 10 to 0 when they appear. And they appear every few minutes in end game levels. Googling about them noticed articles about how they ruin end game and can't agree more. Made me decide to quit Borderlands 3 and forget about buying DLC packs ever.

You have weapon scores to help you choose your loadout yet some higher level weapons were garbage compared to the ones with a significantly lower score I allrdy had. I just looted everything to sell it all and buy bigger backpack space for ridiculous amounts of money.

Also, the frequency at which the annoying twins pop up is just frustrating.
The humor is bland and repetitive. The maps are big for the sole purpose of having a reason to implement vehicles. There's literally nothing else. There is a lot to loot but 80% are just ammo boxes which is a shame.

Overall good enough for the story. Uninstalled after it because I got bored. Not a game for me.

Borderlands 3 is an excellent game, but not for the reasons one might think. The plot is not a bad one, and the characters aren't written poorly, in fact some characters have their best appearances here. The most essential part of the game is lacking - the villains.

The Villains of borderlands 3 are very much in the same vain as Handsome Jack, loud, annoying, braggadocious and not full of much depth. Their plot isn't bad, and their concept isn't awful but they feel rather hamfisted. The main character I played also suffered from this to some extent, where she was speaking in old internet lingo that felt really dated. However, despite all this the game was very enjoyable.

One of my biggest complaints with Borderlands games is the driving is done very poorly, and in this game its not improved upon at all, yet despite all of this some of my favorite missions were driving missions. The vehicle part acquisitions is tedious but a great addition, and it a great expansion on the cosmetics in borderlands. On top of vehicle cosmetic adjustments the game also brings player colors/themes and helmets back, these are much better than the previous entries and are thematic. Gun trinkets and paints were added, while I was not able to collect too many they were nice when I found them.

The graphics are exactly what one would want, and on top of that the game runs impressively well. My machine is rather out of date now a days but I managed to run this almost maxed out at 1080p with 60fps no problem. The games environments look fantastic and not a bad resolution low poly object in sight. When you first load in, the game might tank and look bad but its just loading things in and it does fix itself rather quickly.

The writing while I complained at the start of my review is actually really enjoyable. There are some things which could be perceived as plot errors but they're not so glaring that they ruin the story. Where the writing really shines is the individual characters and how they all fit so excellently. WIthout spoiling, many celebrities voice characters in the game, and while at first it is strange hearing their voices they nail their characters and their characters are witty and enjoyable. We also see a great cast of returning characters, some even from Tales From The Borderlands which is phenomenal. i was very worried they'd leave those threads untied. The recasting of Claptrap annoyed me deeply at first but eventually I just forgot what he use to sound like and quite honestly, he's all still there. He's done very well, perhaps his most compelling appearance.

Gun play is as enjoyable one can expect from a borderlands title, however new additions have been made to gun manufacturers and "class mods" that really add variety. Each gun company has a special benefit to using their weapons, without naming them all jakobs for example when you crit something the bullet will bounce to another target as well which comes in handy when you're bursting down large groups of things. Much of the game I was doing content I was not at level for, which is likely my own fault so most guns I could not use until later. The vaults in my experience yield no good guns, and my best guns came from quest rewards or killing bosses.

Speaking of bosses, the bosses are excellently done. Just enough mechanics to be challenging and not so much health they feel like bullet sponges. Every single boss was unique and entertaining, however I did not feel as if you had to adjust your gun types to help you. I only did this for one boss that I was clearly undergeared for. Most bosses I died on one or two times, except funnily enough the final one which I did in my first try. Many of the bosses are large and imposing, you have to maneuver around the stage to get better shots on them and you never really can stand still or hide behind cover for too long. This makes the fights feel more engaging and less like I'm just pouring bullets into something. Some of the bosses are forgettable, so much so that I actually had to look up a list again to check which bosses there were, but others are so excellent they should be case examples of how FPS should implement boss fights.

The game ends well enough, its not a great surprise to me, and it does leave itself space to have another game, while still feeling satisfying. I have not played the DLC, and I played completely solo, I'm sure others experiences may differ but I am looking forward to playing the DLC and future games.

A quality title that is easily worth the money, especially if you can enjoy it with friends.

Even The Pre-Sequel made me happy. I finally got around to the third one, and I was... disappointed. Let's begin. So, what caught my eye right away was the graphics, which just didn't move much. Sure, it doesn't have much to do, but I also thought it was worse than the second one. But what struck me even more was the PC optimization, which was just absolutely awful. When playing the game I was using the graphics card 100% and all the time. At the beginning I played the game on maximum details, but after a while I dropped it to the lowest so I wouldn't have such a heavy load on the GPU. The game even looked better on low details than high in my opinion. The way the textures weren't so smoothed out and everything was suddenly so sharp it got more of that Borderlands feel, at least in my opinion. Personally, I recommend you try putting the game on lower details. This is purely my opinion, but for me it just looked more Borderlands that way. As for the story, it's not bad here, but on the one hand, it's not great either. The main female baddie is pretty cool, but the final fight with her just doesn't have the same feel as the ones from previous installments. On top of that, the ending was a bit too long for me. The developers added a new environment, but I still don't like the final one. I'm talking about the locations in the city. The ones in the countryside although not reaching the quality of the ones from the previous games were fine, but the city passages I didn't like much, because when I say Borderlands, I think of the desert or the winter locations from the second game. I understand that the developers wanted to give us something new, but personally I feel negative about this change and I just don't want the city in Borderlands. But now I want to get to those other locations, like the legendary Pandora, which just isn't the real Pandora here. I don't know. Maybe it's the fact that there isn't that delicious music playing in the background like in one, or maybe it's the fact that the game just has a little bit of a different graphical style from one and two, but it just doesn't feel right here. Just loading it up I was wondering what it was supposed to be. It doesn't look bad, but I liked it better before. Anyway, on to the inventory. I'm sorry, but for me, it's disgusting. I really couldn't get used to the inventory for the whole game, and although I started to get the hang of it after a while, I longed for the old one from 2. In my eyes, the inventory here was cluttered and quite ugly to boot. As I said the whole game looks a bit ugly to me and I'm not a fan of the way health bars, inventory, dropped items and the like look. Not to criticize the game, I can praise the fact that when you open an object and money flies out of it, your character takes it immediately and you don't have to deal with anything. Maybe it's not as satisfying as when you used to press the button to grab item, but every now and then it's a cool novelty, for example if you're in a hurry and want to loot something quickly in the middle of a fight, it's a bit easier here than it was before. Borderlands is of course all about loot and you can loot weapons here which are also awesome, on the one hand again I'm not that much of a fan. I'll explain. There are new guns that resemble proper Assault Rifles and they look gorgeous, yes, but they're more into Battlefield or Call of Duty and not quite into Borderlands. So I commend the developers for that, they added some of those new guns that on one hand spoil that Borderlands vibe a bit. To sum it all up. For me, this is an unnecessary sequel that further unnecessarily spoils the name of the series. It's not a bad game, I'm not saying that, but it's just far from the quality of the previous ones. I'd rather there had never been a third installment. I understand the developers and it's a fact that they were given a pretty tough task and to surpass the second part was kind of impossible, but unfortunately Borderlands 3 is not only not equal to Borderlands 2, but to any part of the series and is far below them in quality. Worse visuals with worse locations compounded by horrible optimization and just no, not this... As someone who turned on Borderlands 1 back then saying I'll give it a try when everyone is talking so much about what a blast it is and then was so absolutely enthralled with the game that he had to go straight to the second game and then the Pre-Sequel and was so hyped for the third installment, I ended up walking away disappointed. I'm sorry, but for me this is a mediocre sequel that I can't recommend. Expand

The "good gameplay" is really good. In terms of pure mechanics, this is a superb Borderlands installment. There's some bs with the metagame (inconsistent drops, weak manufacturers), but shooting has never been so fun and responsive in the series. Also, Borderlands finally got actual boss fights, and most of them are really well done, imo.

The "bad narrative" is really bad. And it's not just about the plot or the characters, I mostly don't even mind them, - everything's awful on a fundamental, moment-to-moment, line-to-line level: the writing, an overwhelming majority of the jokes, pacing, sometimes even the voice acting.

Everything in between is a mixed bag. Graphics are nice to look at and artists try their best, but results range from fantastic to really bland or even visually irritating sometimes. Soundtrack jumps from memorable and thrilling, complex and fitting pieces to a "meh" audio filler, sound effects are no different.

Overall, if to approach a score as a dry calculation of good parts vs bad parts, I feel that there was noticeably more good ones, but they're disjointed, unfocused and mixed with some of the worst filth this series has to offer (looking at you, Ava). Better then average experience, but the line it walks not to fall into a complete blunder is so thin, that I cannot force myself to complete DLCs I paid for, so they cannot disappoint me further.

    6/10, only buy if you're a fan.

The gameplay is very good new characters, but they do not differ from the old ones. Graphics are shelshading as always. The brow is very good, but sometimes there are friezes

The gameplay was really fun, huge amounts of guns and skill trees, but the story was lame. I would definitely recommend it to people who like experimenting with builds.

Bitiremedim.

Meh. It's not awful but it's nowhere near the quality of the other games in the series. It can scratch the Borderlands itch if you're a hardcore fan but even then I wouldn't pay full price.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Gearbox has a problem: the fantastic Borderlands 2 is too good to be beaten. But in the case of Borderlands 3, it is still more than a worthy successor. The filmmakers brought many pop-cultural references, maybe pushing too hard on how they want to be “modern”, but otherwise it's a great game again. [Issue#298]

Borderlands 3 offers a generous experience, with colourful characters, neat gameplay and a charming universe. Its formula, very close to that of the previous episodes does not revolutionize the show but its small new features bring a little freshness and the scenario makes us want to go to the end of the adventure. Its dynamism and nervousness make it a choice piece for adrenaline-ready FPS lovers and license fans.

The fun, humorous storyline, some great dialogue and theatrical accents of the diverse characters, beautifully varied locations and the same great gunplay that Borderlands is renowned for, means that Borderlands 3 becomes another must have title in the series.
