Aug 23, 2023Blasphemous 2 is a really cool metroidvania, a full-fledged 2D soulslike and simply a good game with appealing pixel-art. It pulls you in and is able to keep the experience fresh.
-
Aug 18, 2023Blasphemous 2 is a challenging Souls-like Metroidvania, with a top-notch atmosphere. Unfortunately, it will also challenge your patience, given its confusing plot, intentional vagueness, and repetitive use of the same puzzle platforming mechanics.

Aug 17, 2023I enjoyed my time with Blasphemous 2. I’ve unlocked both endings, scoured and pillaged the entire map, and completed every quest I could find, and, where I found the first game severely wanting in the fun factor, the sequel delivered in spades. Despite this, it’s held back by simplistic quests and bosses so unfair as to taint the whole experience. At certain points, thematic suffering bleeds through the cracks in the fourth wall and becomes part of the gameplay.
-
Aug 17, 2023Blasphemous 2 is a well-constructed but ultimately conventional Metroidvania, and while it still delivers on holy grotesquerie and striking visuals, the end result is a sequel that feels markedly smaller in scope.

Aug 21, 2023Blasphemous 2 isn't interested in experimenting. It wants to do one thing, which is metroidvania action, and does it very well. While staying true to the formula, it does however take some room for innovative design within its own limits: worlds that guide the player without taking the fun out of exploring, a variety of pacing and as well as several RPG elements adding some little depth and customization to combat. Overall, it's an immersive journey through a grounded fantasy world with an unique aesthetic and very solid gameplay. A faithful (hah) sequel seeking to improve on every possible aspect [Recommended]

Aug 17, 2023Blasphemous 2 is a strong union of narrative and function. Its gloomy world is full of nooks and crannies to explore, and its inhabitants have compelling stories to tell. Its boss fights — arguably the biggest piece of twine — may be frayed, but the slick mechanics and biting themes more than make up for any weakness in the braid.

Aug 17, 2023Perhaps that comes down to taste, as does Blasphemous 2’s mean and mysterious vibe in general. The cryptic parts will trip up some people more than others, but even as someone who fell flat on their face I can respect the deft weaving of systems into setting - which is, again, excellent. A few reveals made me say "Jesus Christ!" aloud, then chuckle at the appropriateness. I’d had my fill after the 12 hours it took to pay my penance, leaving a few areas unexplored and some mysteries that remain ravelled, but they’re there for those that want ‘em. By the hallowed murmuring of the sacred Archonfraternity: fill your boots.
