You play as Shin, a Demon Hunter who has lost his memories and is now exploring the world together with his sword - the transformed Lumina demon Lux - recollecting memories about yourself, your missing wife, and skills you've forgotten.

Each time you recollect a lost skill, Lux changes form according to the will of her wielder, making Shin stronger and granting access to more areas of the world.

In this exploration-heavy 2D action game, you will use your demon blade to interfere with the past, create new platforms, and shield yourself from danger to explore a desolate world.

Other than the Lumina Sword, you will also have access to other weapons such as swift daggers and long-range guns. Find the perfect weapons to suit your fighting style.

Blade Chimera feels like a breath of fresh air for the Metroidvania genre, standing out with its gameplay and design choices—though keyboard players may want to grab a controller for this one.

Blade Chimera is Team Ladybug's first original metroidvania. This means that it is not based on any franchise, but its story and characters were made from scratch by the development team. And, as expected for those of us who have played their previous titles, the result is a resounding success. Not only is it a fun game, but each of its components work in harmony to create a polished and balanced experience.

Team Ladybug understands what makes a great metroidvania. As such, expect Blade Chimera to deliver gripping play, eye-pampering visuals, and boss battles that will undoubtedly elevate heart rates. Thankfully, much of the momentum-breaking puzzling and playtime padding are absent.

Blade Chimera is a fresh metroidvania with excellent pixel art and a great level design.

Blade Chimera does little that feels new, but delivers a slice of comfortable, familiar and, dare I say it, safe side-scrolling adventure.

Blade Chimera is a very beautiful and colorful metroidvania with colorful bosses that suffers from serious control and balance issues.

As a whole, it's just a little too stripped down and without directly surprising or offering anything that feels directly exciting. The game comes with a low price tag and true hardcore fans of the genre can certainly get themselves a few hours of perfectly fine entertainment.
