    Tumble drier with bricks simulator... Multiplayer is what I imagine it would be like to fall down all stairs in the Eiffeltower only to have the pleasure of doing it again because you died at random points down the tower. Sometimes you die instantly and sometime you have 10 seconds to see something that you thought was something and then you died.     Crap! I remember 4 and 1 part. The plot, the gameplay, everything is better than the fifth part. Here is my advice. To make a sequel to 4 part and that it should not be as **** as part 5!

    Battlefield vetran here. Played every title religiously. put over 350 hours into BFV so I've given this turd a chance to be updated. BFV is not only the worst of the series but it might be up there with the worst games of all time. Map design and spawn locations are awful. TTK is laughable. Sound design is straight up garbage. Pronetard play is rewarded. Long range tank camping is rewarded. Plane vs. plane battle has no balance and the tail gunner spots are too weak to use. The censorship makes me want to abandon DICE and EA altogether. They dropped a deuce on their core fan-base.… Expand

    the Campaign is an insult and twisted what happen during WW2 for a more political correct view, which is disgusting. but i guess the Political correct people will approve, but i doubt they ever will play it lol.
    The game is riddle with bugs and issues that makes Battlefield 4 seems like a better release.

    so for me its 0 stars here.

    Update: after playing it again with a couple of friends its hasnt improved at all. still a sallow gameplay, and riddle with issues and gameplay mechanices :/

    An Excellent skiing simulator. NO joke, Dice/EA should just give up Battlefield and make a skiing simulator. Those few minutes in the single player campaign while skiing was just so much fun. It should be in the multiplayer too! Too bad it lasted only a few minutes, definitely not worth the price, but if you got this game through Origin Vault for free, just go play that single playerAn Excellent skiing simulator.     I've played the Battlefield series religiously since BF1942. BF4 was the last in the series in my opinion. BF1 was a head-scratcher, mostly dissapointing especially after I paid $120 for BF1 pre-release ultimate, I played the demo for BF V and uninstalled it within a half hour. BF1 + BFV feel like console ports on the PC. They've really killed the franchise - although I'm sure they areI've played the Battlefield series religiously since BF1942.     Bought bf5 2 weeks ago for $20... biggest waste of money in a long time. Bf5 is uninspiring, unrealistic, messy, and just very bad! From the 10 first minutes i played this game i had this feeling i was still playing the beta. Almost no weapons, maps, full servers, customization and so on. It's overall more grindey than it was in previous series. Marketing was total **** I played my first 2 hours ever (besides beta trial) and already ran into 2 hackers lmao.

    There are only two proper ways to play this game:
    1) try it with Origin Basic Access (yes they moved it there after 6 months of release...lol), it will be 7 days free trial, or like 4,99$/m
    2) buy it on really HUGE sale, like 70-80% one, and when it's polished and done

    Otherwise this game is just not worth it, would recommend BF4/BF1 every single time over this one.    … Expand

    (I thought I'd update my review 6 months in as a lot of things have changed, and even more things have not.)

    -War Stories (campaign) is still absolute garbage. Bad AI, bland missions, bad writing, just plain boring.

    -Combined Arms- possible one of the laziest game modes ever concocted by a AAA studio. basically coop missions with none of the good things from singleplayer and all of the bad things instead.

    -Firestorm- hit or miss for Battlefield fans. Very basic Battle Royal with vehicles. Low player count makes finding matches a pain and makes it absolutely impossible for players in Oceana/Australia. Despite a lot of the player base preferring Duos over squads and solo, DICE decided to remove Duos.

    -Multiplayer Game Modes- Conquest and Breakthrough are the only game modes worth a damn right now. BFV used to have other popular game modes like Frontlines, Grind, and Fortress, but they removed those as well. Grand Operations are not very "Grand" and feel more like a grab-bag match of different game modes where the outcome of previous round bears almost no impact on the upcoming round. Team Deathmatch is currently still present, but there is nothing special there either. Still no hardcore mode.

    -Maps- Out of the 8 launch maps, only 4 are fun to play. Several maps are not balanced for Conquest, so one team will have a much easier time capping and holding onto several of the flags. I can tell they tried to move away from the large sprawling battle META of previous Battlefields, for a much smaller and frenetic infantry based maps with vehicles added as more of an afterthought. The only map that seems to capture the Battlefield feeling of old is "Panzerstorm" (which coincidentally a lot of the brand new and casual run-and-gun FPS players hate).

    -Updates- piss poor amount of content for a major AAA "live service" title. Only games that are doing worse are Anthem and Fallout 76, and that's a low bar. 6 months in we have only 1 new map, a handful of new weapons, and skins (most of which are only purchasable with real money).

    -Cosmetics- laughable at best. Weapon camos are awful, Soldier cosmetics(that you can buy with CC) are dull and wildly inaccurate. Most of the new skins are purchasable only with Boins (premium currency). The person in charge of designing them must have a hard on for the absurd, because the elite skins are pretty awful and hearken to some Liberace WW2 steampunk fever dream. Company Coin has lost most of its use after the release of BOINS, due to this, the game economy is starting to skew towards premium currency. Also what's with all the goggles???

    -Balancing- Team balancer is MIA or just plain doesn't work. Dice is constantly nerfing weapons and vehicles until they're utterly useless or buffing them until that's all anybody uses. Game meta is trash and is more akin to Call of Duty than Battlefield. Anti-cheat is pretty bad too. Cheating is very rampant in Firestorm and VERY prevalent on Asia servers.

    -Bugs and performance issues are a constant problem. Whenever one bug is fixed, 2 more usually take its place. The game is also very poorly optimized. Don't expect 60 fps unless you have a monster rig or mess with a lot of the graphics settings.

    VERDICT: save your money. This game is obviously a cash grab. Incomplete at launch with promises of future content, BFV seems to be losing more than it's gaining. Play BF1 or BF4 if you want to have fun.    … Expand

    Got it just to test raytracing on RTX 2060. It's lagging. I couldn't even run without sudden stutters some times. Ok. Turned off raytracing. Fps still drops sometimes. Pretty unplayable. Do not recommend to anyone for every single reason.

    The best of the Battlefield series. Aaaamazing graphics and sounds. But the game is ridden with bugs and cheaters. So if you are lucky enough to not, lag, crash to desktop or get stuck inside things the game is awesome. Hope EA will fix the game soon.

    The lag in this game is something else. And when I say lag, I mean the lag compensation from the game. If you're in cover? Guess what, you're out in the open on the enemy's screen, they will see you, and they will kill you.

    There's a setting that changes the foliage setting, which affects the render distance of said foliage. In a competitive game. In a shooter. With some maps that have up to 50% of nothing but corn fields. What are they thinking, truly?

    Some updates will reset your weapon loadouts. Some updates will introduce new bugs. But either way, enjoy the 40GB+ download. But hey, at least they managed to set up their in-game store correctly.

    Please, please take my advice. If you wish to waste your money, please spend it anywhere else than here. Anywhere else. Take someone out for a date. Throw the money into a toilet. I don't care. But even that will give you more satisfaction than playing this grindfest, sorry excuse of a product. Even buying Souljaboy's gaming console would be a better investment.    … Expand

    Although he bashes this game for inclusive to women, he's just a racist white male who needs to check his privilege.

So I just played through BFV operation Nordlys, and it is a steaming pile of **** Firstly I fell down what looked like 50-75 meters and landed on solid ice, but that's okay because I'm wearing skis, which means that I can't take damage from falling. Then i try to stealthily complete the mission which went well until the game decided that this was not a stealth mission by announcing my presence through a cut scene.
    Then the game tells me to follow my mother which it forces me to do since i cant run, crouch or anything else to make it more immersive.
    I also have to destroy some power transformers or whatever, and these come with a self destruct lever, how user friendly. No TNT, no grenades nothing, just a lever.
    Then I get casually thrown of a bridge and it bruises my chin a little bit, what is this pile of garbage.

    The hypothermia system is also garbage. The devs have not put in the effort to make her clothes look wet after falling in the river, what is this?

    I do like the game but this mission has completely destroyed all immersion I might hope to have.

At some point I thought that BF1 is boring, but BF5 is whole new level that I couldn't imagine before- It is really sad.

    Do not buy this game - really you will waste your money

    I hoped that some day EA would release battlefield 2143, but as there is a high chance of failure I am not sure if that is what I still want.    … Expand

    i have been playing battlefield games since bad company but this game misses so much of that old battlefield feel.
    The game has been out for a while now and the only thing we got was battle royale, like ,really dice? no new maps and it is way too few weapons

    I know my rating wouldn't change its generally unfavorable reviews, but I feel like I owe an honest-to-god review for this game. So much fun! You guys really should give it a try, honestly. Multiplayer (conquest, grind, grand operation) mode is the best way to enjoy. The "battle royale" mode tho, it takes long queue, so your choice

    The last good game as i remember was Battlefield 3 and the other previous ones like Battlefield 2 and 1942.

    Absolutely terrible game, respawning, and the use of multiplayer inserts, how cheap is that. Poor save points, no adjustment during play to other difficulty levels, gliches, annoying characters, need l say more, shame on electronic arts, it's the last game l ever play by that company. Wasted my money! ...ps dont play it, it totally sucks.

This isn't to say the multiplayer isn't fun as the classic large scale matches with many vehicles driving or flying about make for both hectic and fun moments the series is known for. Vehicles have also been reworked to add an ammo system that they can now run out and have to restock, with this the tanks especially heavy tanks feel big and powerful and the unique designs of the era all have strengths and weaknesses. Firestorm does not add anything nor make itself very distinct from any other battle royal but is just simply battle royal in Battlefield. A possible downfall is that there seems to be such a focus on trying to jump into the bandwagon of the popularity of battle royal instead of focusing on the true aspects of what make Battlefield a truly great game and make it stand on its own rather than try to take it in a direction and focus on something that is overused and losing attraction.… Expand

I really miss the times where you unlocked cosmetics with skill and dedication. It's sad to see all those great games failing in delivering a nice and "rewarding" user experience.

    Support do nothing about this problem. I play BF since BF3, have on account BF1942, BF BC2, BF3 Premium, BF 4 Premium, BF1 Premium, BF5. Never used hack/cheat programs.

I've always LOVED the BF series, back to BF2, I've had almost every single game since, with my favourite being BF4. I got BF1 on my PS4 but played about 1 hour and just stopped because I didn't like it, but even though II never rate games, but I just had to make a Metacritic account after getting this game for free with my 2080Ti and trying it out for the first time. All I can say is WOW. I've always LOVED the BF series, back to BF2, I've had almost every single game since, with my favourite being BF4. I got BF1 on my PS4 but played about 1 hour and just stopped because I didn't like it, but even though I actually paid for that one, I didn't feel the need to rate it negatively. However, this? This thing absolutely deserves every negative rating it has received. If you are on the fence, DO NOT PURCHASE!

    So, I started the game, and realized my CPU (Ryzen 7 1700X OC'ed to 3.825ghz) severely bottlenecks this game; I can't maintain 60FPS on Ultra + high Raytracing. No other game has an issue except maybe X Plane, but that's a flight sim! Oh, and I'm only running 2560*1080! Anyways, I turned down raytracing and one other setting and got 50FPS sustained, so I just left it at that. Not ideal, but ok. Oh, and when changing settings, the developers stupidly have the game apply entire presets on the fly as you click them, no apply, nothing, so as I'm trying to change from the default max fidelity setting, it's trying to apply every setting, and freezes for a good 30 seconds while it does that, and I'm sitting there hoping it doesn't crash for the 3rd time until I finally got to the custom toggle and could change individual settings.

    Now, let's start with the loading screens; they're HORRIBLE. In the name of minimalism, they decided to not have a loading bar or really much of anything. All you get is a black screen with a little loading icon; I'd normally be fine with that, but this game is incredibly buggy. It launches about 50% of the time, so watching that little icon with no other indicator or anything else on screen is extremely frustrating. Oh, and if you alt+tab or hit the windows key, the game will either crash, stop loading, or continue to load and then say "server disconnected" as soon as the map loads.

    Next is combat; I used to love BF big open maps and even the smaller ones, but these suck! They feel very littered and busy with small corridors where players are forced to move through. I couldn't figure out how to get into any vehicles, I don't know if they made that DLC or something, but I couldn't get into any vehicles, which I really hope is just something I messed up and not some DLC bs, because then I'd hate this game even more.

    Combat sucks because the map is crowded, guns feel horrible, you don't really feel in control. You either get lucky or you don't, it doesn't feel skillful.

    Finally, the SJW bs. Why is this game full of sjw stuff? do you really need to add wmn and other races in there (I'm not white btw, I'm a minority myself)?? If they recreated some other battle in Asia and replaced the game characters with white characters, people would be up in arms, so wtf is up with the distortion of history? Absolutely disgusting and disrespectful to the people who gave their lives in that war.

    A proper single-player campaign is extremely important to me. Battlefield has never had a genuinely amazing one. The stupid war stories of BF1 and BFV are dreadful stealth missions that follow a pattern for each segment. It's repetitive and half-assed. I found 2D sprites for trees on one level, and I assume those kinds of cheap shortcuts were used in all the levels. The singleplayer is pointless, but it shouldn't be! They could have made it robust and unique. The cinematic capabilities of their engine are obvious, but wasted here. It's all about pushing that yearly title and getting those pre-orders. EA, you suck real bad.

    The multiplayer is still at 64-players. Squad is at 80 players, and may be pushing to 100-player servers. The maps feel empty a lot of the time to me. Just a big cat and mouse mess. They did put in some game-modes that establish a front line. That is essential to promote objective-based teamplay. Good job there. I had fun in the Grand Operations! The good news is there are no DLCs. The bad news is by the time they release enough content to have a full game, it'll be time for the next release and everyone will abandon BFV!

    We have to get out of this yearly release schedule. The fans will be excited to play a game as good as BF3 for a few years while DICE develops a complete product for 3 years or so.

    I'm not the type to complain about historical facts and such, I'm the type who just tries to enjoy games as much as possible. That is also what I did with Battlefield V. Almost 300h on pvp (this is actually the first Battlefield on which I haven't played the campaign/story mode due to having access to the closed alpha. I usually used the campaign/story mode to get a feel for the game before going into pvp) and I'm still having a blast!
    I do wish they'll add more maps into the game soon as 9 maps just isn't that much. Also there are like 3 or 4 maps I never play because they are not my favorite (Fjell, Twisted Steel, Panzerstorm for example I barely ever play) so the map pool is quite small.

    But if you have loved Battlefield in the past purely because of the gameplay then I'm pretty sure you won't be dissapointed.
    The only thing dissapointing to me is they released this game into the public when it just wasn't ready. And because they did they got a lot of **** for it and rightfully so. But give credit where credit is due. They improved the game A LOT since launch and the experience has become smoother and smoother for me.

    Firestorm is almost here (unless they postpone it which wouldn't surprise me) and when it is I would say Battlefield V is at a point where the sales price is finally justified.

    So in brief, yes, the game launched at a terrible state, should NOT have been launched back then.
    No, this is not a bad game by any means. The fun factor in this game is way higher than in most FPS games nowadays. The only FPS I've played last couple years with about the same amount of fun in it is Rainbow Six Siege. And yes I have practically played almost every AAA FPS game from the last couple of years. I am honestly blown away by the amount of bad reviews this game has gotten. One would think this game is as bad as Fallout 76 (don't even bother thinking of buying that game, it literally is the worst game ever) which is totally unfair and just plain stupid!

The gun play sucks , half or more of the weapons are completely useless, bipeds can not deploy, time to death is extremely fast, you cannot distinquish the enemy players from the background, you cannot even lie down half of the time... the maps are boring the design sucks at the end of the round your only get killed by v2rockets, and I even don’t remember what I hate more on this game.     The campaign is pretty short and divided into 4 parts, which aren't connected directly. Whether the format is good or not, the last 2 stories were kinda enjoyable, but it isn't anything spectacular. I personally didn't enjoy the mechanics in the game itself and found game-play pretty chaotic.

    Way too many different appearances for each Class (of infantry), it makes it confusing trying to identify who's who from who in Multiplayer (IE: trying to find a Medic or a Support? Good luck, there's 10+ different type of outfits each class can wear (Thanks EA and micro-transactions!).     A little too much Dice, you should remember to keep things SIMPLE, TRANSPARENT, AND most importantly of all: FUN! (See Bad Company 2, If I needed a Medic I would just look for the dude wearing the red beret!)

    The audio (voice acting/positional audio + sound effects) in the Multiplayer are also underwhelming.
    Footsteps, audio cues and sound effects just aren't there to make it feel like a Battlefield game for me.
    To get a real sense of what the community expects from DICE in the audio department, see Battlefield Bad Company 2.

    The map designs now-a-days are also underwhelming...
    I don't feel the same vibes of a true WWII scenario (at least not yet) such as BF1942.

    All in all, MP sandbox experience is still there, but I feel that most of the OG DICE Devs are long gone now and don't know if Battlefield will ever be the same again.

    Also what's up with the SJW agenda being shoved down our throats?

    We want cussing, cursing, and authentic feel of a war game... not sensitive pansy whiny audio effects.

The problem is that when scaled to consoles, BFV is a clear visible step backwards compared to BF1. Lighting is almost broken, since it's either too bright or too dark, and everything has a sort of overexposure look to it that makes visibility a hassle and nothing short of rage inducing. Shadows are basically a wormhole into the dark abyss, and enemies sitting two feet away are seemingly invisible. Recent updates made this slightly better, but your mileage may very. Overall, the LODs are also noticeably less detailed on console compared to BF1, with muddy textures and steady pop in that both deceives and distracts you. You'll proceed to engage enemies, only to find that they were behind cover that hadn't rendered in yet upon getting closer. Vegetation also looks bad, not decent, not mediocre, literally terrible. Trees and bushes use mesh patterns, and a lot of the time trees won't render fully. Vegetation also takes a sort of blocky 2D appearance at range.

    The single player experience on BFV is a souless heap of **** with paper thin, shallow characters that aren't developed to any capacity to make you care about them, and they're accompanied by terrible, cringe worthy writing and typical war cliches. The gameplay doesn't get much better, since most missions revolve around you using one man army like stealth tactics around an open area, completing fetch or destroy objectives while taking out seemingly mindless AI.

    Multiplayer is just a giant meh-fest of lost potential. There's a great game somewhere lost in this experience, but its muddled by bugs, lack of content, and forgettable maps. Weapon and class balance is at the worst the franchise has seen, and that's not the result of a faster TTK. Hit detection, server performance, and overall netcode are also subpar, with consoles only featuring 30Hz servers, There's no custom servers, no RSP, and the customization is rather shallow, which leads into my next point below in the next paragraph. This is the only game I've played where I'll steadily deal 130-150 damage on an enemy, only for him to magically 1 frame me. People only have 100 health, but you can sponge 150+ damage into them and still get killed in a single frame by them. It's broken, and the recent "fixes" didn't fix anything. This game is just a mess.

    BFV has the worst progression system of any shooter I've played. The in-game economy is just God awful, and everything is an unnecessary grind. There's very little meaningful customization, and what is there is mostly aesthetic. Unlocking the same couple of skins for each weapon requires a constant grind of tedious assignments like "kill 10 enemies in 1 life while attacking objectives while shooting from the hip", along with a general side objective like "get 60 kills" or "deal 2000 damage". What does this unlock? Why, a muzzle, or a stock, and a muzzle or a stock in one color no less. To unlock full sets, you need to keep completing samey tedious assignments. To add insult to injury, the max level cap is just level 50. Compare that to BF1's base 100 or BF4's 140, and you get my point. The amount of company count, BFV's in-game currency you unlock is very minuscule as well, and unlocking items as small as a grip cost 1500cc on the low end, which is comical. No doubt this is so EA can inject microtransactions or collect on the premium sale of coin. Things like complete outfits, which STILL require tedious assignments to even unlock cost upwards of 15,000cc. You get my point, progression sucks.

    Combined Arms is a travesty and a huge embarrassment to DICE as a studio. It's go here and kill these people co-op on multiplayer maps with mindless bots that sponge bullets and magically 1 hit you. It's dull, mindless, and I don't understand why it was ever even delayed to begin with. Funnier yet, the cutscenes have sound bugs or appear blurry leading into the missions, which is just further lack of polish on a feature that was delayed 3 months; pitiful.

    Overall, this game is bad. It's agenda pushing single player experience is dull with no soul, the multiplayer is broken, unfinished, starving of content, bug filled, and lacking of any polish, and the co-op is literally just a huge "f@ck you" and cherry on top of this whole ****ty experience.

    I love Battlefield, but it's sad to see such a pathetic low after so many highs. What the hell went wrong?    … Expand

    If you listed 10 "Iconic WW2 things" about 3 of those would be in this multi-million dollar WW2 game. They wanted to "focus on the untold stories of ww2" and put a girl with a robot arm on the box cover. I've put about 80 hours into BF5 and I lost count of the hackers, and I mean legitimate hackers, people with 80+ kills and 0-2 deaths. EA doesn't care about PC at all.

    It seems to have a lot of hackers too, every other game has one or two people racking up insane scores no legit person could possibly obtain. This issue seems far more prevalent than in BF1. I just got done playing a game with someone ranked 2, pretty much brand new, with 40-3 as their KDR. I don't care how much of a veteran you are in BF, I've bought almost every one of them since 1942, that's not possible as a new player.

    Overall I'd say it is worth getting on sale if you are a longtime fan, the whole "I hate women being in games thing" is stupid as well. It has the stench of an incel more than anything, if you want to complain about historical accuracy ask why all the allies are running around with MP40s and other German weapons    … Expand

    The game is devoid of content and starving for more big maps. Suppression effect is gone which negates the whole machine gunner/support class except for being a moving bullet dispenser.

    The only positives are 3D-spotting is kept to a minimum, graphics and sound are great and fortifications are awesome.

    The customizing of your weapons is poorly implemented. Cosmetic unlocks that don't impact the performance of the gun? Why have them in the game?!

    Strange netcode makes it feel like you're getting hit by a wall of enemy fire, while from their perspective, they're hitting you with a long, sustained rifle burst to take you down. It makes for an odd experience.

    Lots of bugs.

    For a AAA game, this game sure doesn't live up to it.    … Expand

    It’s far from being ideal but all the glitches and shortcomings don’t ruin the overall fun of Battlefield V’s multiplayer experience. Although the single player portion of the game is not bad at all, I would have been disappointed if I bought the game just for it. [13/2018, p.56]

    In Battlefield V we got back to WW2, but with refined gunplay and death system which works great. There are also little problems such as low number of maps and stability issues, that are taking the fun away, but nothing that can't be fixed.

    A great World War II shooter that will grow and improve. Do not buy the game because of its singleplayer, but if you consider the campaign a bonus to the multiplayer, you will be satisfied. [Issue#291]
