Great installment into the Battlefield series. It's a beautiful game and runs incredibly well. The launch was near flawless. First of all, I have to say that I believe this is the first or second time I write a review. I love Battlefield series and I'm a BF Veteran. I played all the BFs (even BF Heroes) since BF 1942. My favourite games of the series are BF2 and BF4 (yes, BF4, am I the only one that really love that game?)

Pros: - Beautiful graphics and immersion with that WW1 theme - Amazing sounds - Guns

My favourite games of the series are BF2 and BF4 (yes, BF4, am I the only one that really love that game?)

    Pros:
    - Beautiful graphics and immersion with that WW1 theme
    - Amazing sounds
    - Guns and the gameplay feels very good
    - Now you can climb high walls and higher rocks
    - Nice melee combat
    - Weather changes and their impact on our weapons
    - Realistic animations
    - Destruction
    - Slower pace than Hardline
    - Airships, trains, etc

    Cons:
    - Gun scheme with duplicated weapons and zero customization totally ruined what they did on BF3 and BF4
    - **** customization options on vehicles, I want to choose, no to have a predetermined tank profiles
    - The bayonet idea is good, but it's very bad implemented, it's bugged most of the times
    - Maps are boring, too mainstream and too lineal, nothing impressive
    - They still copy-pasting the same buildings on all maps
    - They destroyed the boat system of BF4, almost zero water combat
    - Lack of accesories and gatchets (good they finally added a crossbow)
    - Crashes even more than BF4 on launch with latest GPU drivers
    - Battlepacks are just for weapon and vehicle skins
    - Battlefrontish style, looks like they copy-pasted some things. Looks nice, works bad
    - The new "spawn on vehicle" system totally ruined the immersion of Battlefield
    - They killed battlelog to make an ingame system with lack of options comparing to battlelog
    - Point-click-kill weapons, hip shooting sometimes is even more effective than aiming, lmao
    - Less bullet fall than modern weapons of BF3 and BF4, lmao too
    - Lack of character customization: no skins/cammos for your character. Cmon, we are on 2017

It's ok most people think BF4 was **** on launch, but currently for me it's a far better game than Battlefield 1. For me Battlefield 1 is one of the most overrated games I played, I give it a 7/10

If you don't believe I played both games, just search me on battlelog or origin, my id is: PriceBlack

I've played previous Battlefield games (Bad Company 2, BF3) and I gotta say, this is the best one in terms of multiplayer. To those who are into first person shooters and historical based games, if you still don't own this game, SHAME ON YOU! 8/10 in it's current state because of the issues on PC and because the DLCs aren't released yet. Still thinking if I should get the premium pass even if it's 50 bucks. I will definetly change it up to a 9/10 when all things get sorted out as well as the premium pass (4 expansions coming up 2017).

I want to write a huge Review, but i want to make it very short, feels like a reskin of Star Wars battlefront...
The Gunplay is the worst, the movement is weird and the mousemovement (in the open beta it was oookay, but still weird) is the worst i have seen in a shooter...
This game is a totaly console port, you can even see the RB- and LB-Buttonicons on top of the menus... DICE shame

DICE shame on you! Bad Company 2 was epic, Battlefield 3 was great, Battlefield 4 was okay, but Star Wars battlefront and now Battlefield 1 are the worst BF-Games i have ever played...
Buy a cheap key if you want but you will notice a LOT of cheater, the only anti-cheating is Fairfight and it still bans people, but if you google about a hack, you will see there already Fairfight proof hacks...they just cost money.

    Just an amazing game :)
Sure, it won't simulate the WWI but it will give you the atmosphere of WWI.

The Story is really good, the best BF Story in my opinion. And of course the Multiplayer is also really cool.

Dice redeemed themselves from Battlefront. Brought back building destruction they left out from Battlefield 4 (levolution is boring). Amazing game filled with dense urban to sprawing montain maps, audio captures the chaos and humanity of war perfectly.

Well written stories, best i can remember in a game.
Multiplayer needs balancing mostly on sniper cap. ( that is one of the main reasons i didnt give a 10)

This game is amazing on so many levels! From time period (I salute Dice and EA for courage to bring us WW I game), unbelievable, I would say AAAA sound design, stunning visuals (and great optimisation as well) and of course soooo satisfying gunplay.

I'm amazed how the pure feeling of fighting and the whole atmosphere around WW I setting can make me so happy for hours. Looking you and your soldiers running through the trenches, while the enemy team is retreating from the fire from the airship, and a few minutes later looking at that same airship falling down in the middle of the map in a huge fireball is pure satisfaction... so cinematic!

Ok, ok... I get it, this game have great atmosphere, visuals and all that, but what about gameplay and felling while shooting, you may ask? I played all classes equally, maybe not support that much and I can say every class and guns have their place and time of use in the battlefield... you are in the trenches, take that shotgun or SMG and clear the sector, more open area, dominate with those bolt action rifles or medic guns (that can outplay snipers at medium-long range if you play it smart), what if you need to prevent enemies from pushing or taking certain sectors... take that LMG or mortar and do that.

I love that all classes now have some way of dealing with vehicles. You now don't feel powerless as a scout or medic when the tank shows up, because you can damage them... of course Assault is the main anti-vehicle class... but it feels good when you can stop tanks from repairing with K bullets and help your teammates take that metal devil faster. Also elite classes, they are debatable. I'm fine with flamethrower, tank hunter and cavalry class, as they have their role and are more acceptable than those two terminator guys. Because, beside more damage resistance they are not that much useful, and stray away a little from WW I tone.

Speaking of vehicles they feel powerful as they should, but if you approach them right and with the good teamwork they can be dealt with. I'm not a great pilot, so I didn't spend much of my game time in the air, but the thing I love about planes, is that they now require coordination and teamwork (except when you are in a fighter plane), because you wont last long if you are alone in the bomber.
Same thing with tanks, you have Light tank, Landship and Heavy tank aka indestructible spawn beacon :D and they can deal a lot of damage if you use them right and vice versa. And I would say to have them on the battlefield (playing with them or vs them) is more balanced and enjoyable experience than compared to BF3.
Oh what about behemoths and horses? SO MUCH FUN... especially horses, who are not there just for historical reasons, as they can do a lot of damage to infantry if you catch them in the open. Behemoths are great addition and give more depth to the gameplay, but I think they need some balancing.

What is a good game without good maps and modes right? And I can just say I'm in love with all maps, with Monte Grappa being my favorite (because it reminds me of my village, minus the fortress :D ). They are trully amazing and have great atmoshpere, with all the different parts and areas that favors one gameplay over the other, dynamic weather that can change a flow of the game, great job Dice. Also we get the new game mode, Operations, that became instant classic for players, thou it needs some balancing in terms of number of attack and behemoths, because it's easier to defend and win the operation, due to fact that it takes across 2 maps.

Damn, there is so much to talk about and I'm over 4000 characters...

I think I covered basic thinks that I liked about games, now some thinks that I don't like, or have mixed feelings, and hope they would get fixed/rebalanced/added...

More guns please! Yea, we have a lot of guns on the list, but in fact it's 4-5 weapons in each class with different variant (different, scope, better hipfire etc.). I can't said I'm bored of current guns, but having a more options to choose from is a plus for me. Give us a little more customization options (I'm not talking about cosmetics), I know it's not that accurate in terms of history, but If we can have Terminators in game, why can't we have a few extra iron sights options? Where are Russia, France... and Yugoslavia, where all of this started? Singleplayer is good at moments but it's short and don't have time to develop, It's a shame, because it had potentials.
Give us option to change and customize loadouts in menu, not just in browser or in game.
Battlepacks are good addition especially when you don't have to pay real money for them but more skins and craftable weapons would be nice.

I'm out of characters so here is my closing.

Great game with amazing atmosphere and satisfying gameplay that will keep you entertained for hours. Truly the most fun I had in a multiplayer game... for a long time!

Battlefield 1’s campaign tells the story of 6 different characters during the First World War...
Each of the 6 chapters take place in different places of the world, and they all feel unique from one another….
You’ll take to the ground, air, and shadows…
You’ll be a tank searching for a friend… you’ll drive a tank trying to take control of the land, take to the sky as a gambler with a hint that maybe things didn’t happen the way he says it did, stealth through areas as a woman trying to sabotage war plans and destroy an armored train, and an Australian runner slicing through the trenches…
The campaign in total will take about 5 an a half hours long to complete give or take, all depending on how often you die..
And you will... a lot, as this game is brutal even on its normal difficulty…
If you’re an aggressive players, you’re not going to do too well in all but 1 chapter as you can only take about 3 hits and you’re dead… and the checkpoints can be complete garbage at time...
Especially considering how large locations are…
For the most part, this isn’t just a run and gun linear shooter… when you touch ground you’re on a massive battlefield crawling with enemies…
You have the choice to mark them all from a vantage point... sneak around them all with distractions or just avoiding them, sneak behind them for a quiet melee… get involved in a gun fight, the option for the most part is up to you, but there are many sections that force you to clear the area of enemies..
Gunplay in this game can be pretty frustrating as again... 3 shots and you’re dead…
all cover can be destroyed including houses, you do regenerate health, but it feels like an eternity before it will start, and hit detection in this game is far from perfect…
Keep in mind I’m talking single player here.. Meaning internet connection isn’t at fault...
Many times my bullets would go right through enemies doing no damage at all…
But I only found this to be the case in single player, no noticeable problems in multiplayer...
There are also annoying enemy variants like flamethrower guys and heavy armor guys who are invulnerable to bullets…
You can kill the heavy with a grenade, but the flamethrower guy is invulnerable against bullets and grenades... he can only be killed by shooting his tank…
Which you’d think a grenade would be fine for this, but no.. it’s not… really breaking immersion throwing in video gamey enemies like this when everything else feels so real…
The camera would also get a little awkward when I would try to run and find cover, which is a real frustration when you’re taking part in a section of the chapter with tanks or the armored train…
Especially since again, the checkpoints are so unforgiving and they can all instakill your character…
These sections take time.. A lot of time… and patience... as well as a handful of other stealthy sections that can sometimes feel like they’re plucked out of a hitman game with their punishment for detection…
These levels are absolutely gorgeous though, and I cared about all 6 characters during my brief time with them…
The single player gameplay just unfortunately lacks a hint of polish which stops the campaign from ever wowing me…
What did wow me however was the multiplayer…
The maps are well designed.. The mayhem of zeppelins, tanks, horses, and airplanes is almost magic…
You never really think of perspective in multiplayer games... people are usually for the most part doing the same thing as you, but better or worse…
A bunch of chickens running around with their heads cut off…
Here however, it’s such a great feeling to sit back and realize that everything you see going on, is another person having an entirely different perspective than you are…
Controlling airships.. Planes…taking them out... riding horseback into a battle zone…
It really breathes life into the competitive gaming realm…
Battlefield essentially has 6 different game types…
domination with is your typical capture and hold, rush witch is an attack and defend game, team death match where most kills wins… , war pigeons which is essentially a capture the flag match.. Get the pigeon, release the pigeon, and stop enemies from doing the game.
conquest, which is capture and hold but with complete mayhem going on… a true feeling of war…
and finally operations, which gives a back story to each of the fighting locations.. Here you either try to gradually capture all sections by capturing and holding 1 to 3 separate spots of a map or defend these sections by filling a kill counter...
Battlefield offers something here for everyone… a solid single player experience good enough to stand on its own... and a brilliant multiplayer that brings the multiplayer genre to new heights...
    I give battlefield 1...

BF1 and games like these that have been dumbed down so much that they are becoming the 'reality shows' of the gaming world. Let's be honest now, a casual player generally plays for the first month or two but after a while they leave it for the next shiny thing while they leave the game to the rest of us, ...in a broken, half-assed state lacking many features and introducing many unwanted ones.

You have no idea how it pains me to see where BF is going. Thousands of hours that I put in into BF42, BF2 and all the way up to BF4. From a long time fan this hurts.

Pretty graphics but no soul, you know... similar to games that have sold out to the casual crowd like Fallout 4, Diablo 3 etc. Quantity over Quality will be the downfall of this series and the gaming industry including DICE. Yes dumbing down a game to get more people to purchase your game is a great business decision at first but in the long run it will be death to a series that one cherished and loved.

It's sad to say but Battlefield has lost its core roots. So much for Battlefield to continue having a special unique identity ...at least it used to have one.

This problem of overpopulation of snipers has been extant since Bad Company 2, and EA/DICE have clearly not bothered to solve it. I don't think EA/DICE would fix this anytime soon - it's a shame when the game allegedly promotes itself as a team shooter. There's not even a class quota to address this.

Most conquest maps are great except for 2 maps - they are for puxxy snipers only. In conquest everybody will be busy doing something and there is no meat grinder locations where everyone just stuck there spamming explosives. There are enough covers so that sniping puxxxies will not dominate the map.

Rush mode is fun again, although I kinda miss the 32/48 ppl server.

TDM is now **** not enough ppl in the server to kill, and there are ppl leaving all the time.. We serious need 48 ppl TDM back again.

Operation is kinda okay to play. Expect meat grinders here and there.

Graphics are epic as always. Single player mode is awesome and story rich. No game breaking bugs so far. There are Hackers though, without private servers, it is bad - nobody can kick them out. Fxxk the hackers.

    All in all 9/10.

BF1 is a fresh take on the Battlefield franchise. The new WWI setting is a really nice change of pace from the normal modern shooters the market is drowning in. Like the previous BF games this one encourages teamwork and tactics rather then just running down a hall 360noscoping people.

The game looks fantastic, the mud that collects on your weapons after coming under fire from enemies is a really cool touch. The guns, for the most part, are pretty darn realistic to their real counterparts. The game is new and some need to be nerfed or buffed, but Dice is pretty good at doing that. The game feels full at purchase, at least it did for me.

Now before we get to multiplayer lets talk Campaign. BF1 tells the story of WWI from a number of different characters. The campaign's stories are great, though sadly there are no levels from the other side's point of view. I am hoping that the German guy aiming his rifle at the first character will turn out to be the narrator of some expansion campaign or something in the future, but that is not set in stone. The campaign for sure is Multiplayer training, each story teaches you different styles and tactics for playing online. There is a tank heavy campaign and a plane heavy campaign, that are both quite fun, engaging, and teach you how to use the war devices.

Multiplayer is great, I really have not had many issues with the launch of the game. A few guns are too OP at the moment and could a good nerfing, but the game plays very well. The maps are pretty fun. And the new objective mode is fantastic! If you have ever played Red Orchestra it is pretty much that game mode! Imagine a conquest where you really have to work together to push forward into enemy territory or push back the assaulting armies.

    PLAYABLE ARMIES:
    AMERICA
    ENGLAND (And it's buddies)
    ITALY

    GERMANY
    AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN
    THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE

I would like the ability to play other armies involved in WWI but with map packs and expansions in the future I assume that others will be in time.

OVERALL: I would recommend this game to anyone who is big into WWI. It brought me back to the age of classic shooters, and that in itself is amazing!

Of course, weapons were less accurate back then, but when has Battlefield been about complete historical accuracy? When I point my damn gun at someone, and it's a semi-auto weapon, I want the shot to hit them!

The game is dominated by smg's and lmg's. Lmg's are the most accurate weapons in the game (unless you're at a dead standstill with a sniper) which makes no sense. Playing this game just makes me want to jump back into BF4, which is what I've been doing.

Many people will say I'm just bad, but I'm one of those players that makes it into the top 3-5 players every match when I'm trying. I'm also rank 83.

To sum up: the game is beautiful and intriguing, but it's too annoying and luck/explosive-based to be a lot of fun.

Magnificent!! even the campaign alone is worth the purchase just for the experience of it, besides the endless hours of multiplayer. Its really polished from the menus to on screen action. Works perfect with a controller, runs brilliant this is no console port either. Its just is everything you want from a WW1 game, fits the fantasy of being in a warzone its that good.

Just finished the campaign intro and the first 2 chapters and came here to confirm that this game has very high standards in terms of realisation, and directing. The episodes I played through actually engaged me emotionally through the war stories, good acting, dialogue writing and music. Just Wow!! Jumping right back into action!

Some of the weapons are questionable for the period SMGs and semi auto rifles weren't standard issue. The ratio of Black to white solders insults history (1:1), Zulus fought for the commonwealth, but not the German or Americans,

There are the usual players complaining about snipers, and a lot of people getting bans. But in my opinion this a very good game, just wish politically correctness didn't bend history. It will be interesting to see how Dice beat this game next year.

Extremely beautiful graphics, animation and sound effects, the Battlefield franchise always blow gamers away with its top of the line eye candies and ear-gasmic audio work. However, Battlefield 1 (unlike the previous titles) failed to hook me with its short hollow mini campaigns and unexciting gameplay.

Now about the bad moments in the game.
Poor balance and domination of aircraft and tanks. If in the past parts one engineer could destroy the tank at a long distance. Now the anti-tank gun deals funny damage. The repair of armored vehicles is too fast. Aircraft can be brought down only from a stationary antiaircraft gun. Therefore, if your team does not have experienced pilots, then the enemy in the sky will feel invulnerable. Damage from anti-aircraft guns is too small and has a limited shooting pleasure. Poor customization of weapons. In fact, we have one weapon and 3 its modifications. Interesting? No! In the past, you could customize weapons as you like

I also to want to mention how incredibly well optimized this game is. I have a 1070, and an i7 4790k, and obviously play on ultra without breaking a sweat, but the GF has an older gen i5, and an HD radeon 6900 series, and is able to play on low at ~60fps. I honestly have no idea how they pulled it off. It's miraculous. I would contend that the game is possibly the most well optimized game, pound for pound, that has been released in the last 9 years.

As for the gameplay, it feels like battlefront or battlefield 4 slapped on with a world war 1 skin. Gameplay doesn't even feel really authentic especially for a WW1 setting, if it were to be WW2 I would kinda understand. But World War 1 was just a bunch of dudes in trenches lined up and firing at one another... not jumping around running and gunning smoking 6 guys in a row with a automatic rifle. And also spawns are horrible. If someone is controlling gunship.... they can easily spawn camp the enemy team and the people below couldn't do anything about it unless they had an Anti air weapon. It really makes me wonder if anyone at DICE knew anything about World War 1.

Also the fact people are ripping on Call of duty keep in mind the amount of times I've been quickscoped more times by scouts in BF1 than I've had in Call of Duty 4... and that's really embarrassing & quite annoying actually. And 80 Bucks for this game!!! (For me I had to pay 90 dollars) This game doesn't feel it even deserves to be 60 bucks.... the game is worth at most 40 bucks, and that's being generous. And the fact EA had the balls to charge people 160 Dollars for this mediocre FPS.

Honestly the game isn't bad yes, they have taken a step forward after the trash from Battlefield 4, Battlefield hardline, and Battlefront. But it's not a huge improvement or a huge innovative process. It's just a bunch of dudes running around playing the game like call of duty. It essentially is call of duty but with vehicles. I personally enjoyed Battlefield 3 more than this game. Battlefield 1 feels like it doesn't offer too much for it what could have been, wasted potential and refunded. It's just your generic, cookie cutter FPS... nothing to see here folks.

I don't also like the Multiplayer, because when you got killed, you have to wait a long time before you can respawn again and that's what I hate mostly about it. I like games full of action and not something like this where you have to wait all the time.

So what has BF1 done to turn it around? Well, the matchmaking and game selection is all part of the game, not a bolt on, so it feels like a finished product. The game contains the whole interface.
The single-player campaign is very enjoyable and is an excellent preparation for the on-line game.
The maps are wide and varied with a good selection of weather, vehicles and mobile spawns. The game encourages teamwork and while not intuitive, the interface enables plenty of customisation for your player classes. I am lucky enough to have a top-end PC, so the game runs smoothly on maximum settings and looks amazing, but my sons both have older Core i5's with much cheaper graphics cards - however they are able to run the game at acceptable frame-rates.
Overall the game is a strong move in the right direction, reclaiming the earlier glory days of the BattleField name.
On the downside, there are currently few servers. Some nights you cannot get on a game. Why? From past experience it's most likely EA dictating who can host servers (and therefore pumping up the prices).

Also don't expect any historical accuracy - it's "in the style of world war one" more than based on anything real. But to be fair, who was expecting it would be anything else?

The game is mostly set in 1917/1918 and doesn't include (as yet) most of the major battles. So no Gallipoli (1915), no Marnes (1914), no Serbian Campaign (1914), no Verdun (1916), no Somme (1916), no Spring Offensive (1918) and no Hundred days (1918).

The maps in the game are Fao Fortress (1914), Suez (1915), Monte Grappa (1917), Argonne Forest (1918), St. Quentin Scar (1918), Sinai Desert (1915-1918) and Amiens (1918).

If you're a fan of the BF franchise, you'll enjoy this title.

The equipment used during the period was crude, and difficult to use, and it shows through in the game. Some of the guns own sites obstruct your vision. Almost every gun solely uses iron sites. It's worth checking just to experience it's authenticity. I wonder if it has any staying power. Expand

The gameplay is more than I expected - not just aim and shoot on rails, there, vehicles, various approaches to an objective and my favourite part so far - the tanks.Being a crew member of a tank in WWi must have been a horrible experience and BF1 gives you a very accurate depiction of that.
Another thing that the game highlights very well is the cruelty of the war - you play a little and you get shot and die, like so many did on the battlefields of WWI.
I give it 9/10 as there are a few nitpicks for the PC version - there's 0 advanced settings in game such as AA modes or SSAO etc - you can tweak that through Geforce Experience but it would have been better if there was a setting in game. THe game doesn't lose a point for that as the engine is very well optimised and I get >100fps on GTX1080 at 2560x1440 Ultra settings all the time.
At the moment, according to the game, I am 'offline' (even as I am writing and posting this review). I have still ways to go before I finish SP campaign, but it seems that the servers have died under load, at least in my region, so minus 1 point for that, let's hope they resolve it soon enough.
Another thing I don't like is the need to have Origin client running - the pre-load crashed 1/3rd through and I had to start from scratch. I have hundreds of games on Steam and it's a shame that EA insist on Origin.
Overall a very good game and worth the admission price and a few hiccups.

    LETS START WITH THE GOOD
    - Beautiful graphics and sound
    - the new time period and all the maps, vehicles, weapons and gadgets that it brings with it
    - new game mode that is on par with conquest/rush
    - War air ship/ Armored train and Battleship behemoths
    - A good but short single player

    NOW THE BAD
    - The random bullet deviation on SMGs and LMGs, there is also RBD on semi auto rifles if you fast fire, I understand that they do this since its a WW1 game and they don't want everyone running around with a LMG but i could think of other ways they could have done this, such as increasing the recoil of SMGs and LMGs by alot, as it is i think the random bullet deviation takes some skill out of fire fights.

    - there is some work to be done with weapon balancing and i have noticed some weird lag with the planes but that should be fixed in time.

well that's what i think about BF1, its overall a very good game but the random bullet deviation is consistently annoying and is pretty much my only big gripe with the game so far.

The game is not a simulator but it is dripping in so much authenticity and historical relevance that it makes for a wonderfully rich experience. It is this 'richness' that is why I can recall all of the fun moments I had playing BF1942 when I was younger. This game is the perfect balance between fun and play-ability, yet it is gritty and emotive.

    Positives: - Incredible well optimised.

    Positives:
    - Incredible well optimised.
    - Graphics are jaw-droppingly deep.
    - Combat is varied and no one person has the best load out.
    - Guns are a joy to use and their weaknesses become charms or quirks to master.
    - Vehicles are polished to look at and to operate.
    - Weather effects make for a dynamic situational combat. (big maps can become close quarters)
    - Arsenal variety: Gas grenades, Limpet mines, Hatchets, Trip-wires, Air-motors, the list goes on...
    - ...Pigeons.

    Negatives:
    - Multiple variations on the same weapon seem a little misplaced.
    - Class rank unlocks are strange - lots of reward up to 5 and then nothing until 10.
    - Holding to skip revive time is a little frustrating but I see how it benefits the medic class.
    - Price - It's high but for all you get, the phrase 'just take my money' comes to mind.
P.S. Hold off on Season Pass - Deluxe is enough.

I wanted to give the review a 9.5 because it is much closer to perfect than a 9 would have you believe. The critic score of 88 is spot on.

I'm really enjoying some aspects of this game - my review is focused on the multiplayer since I have no interest in the campaigns. It feels fresh, the weapons are generally balanced, the maps all look great, flying planes and driving vehicles is fun - I could not stop laughing as I rolled a heavy tank full of people down a mountainside without taking any damage on one map. That said, what is up with horses? Why can't you use regular weapons on them? Why is the trample detection so janky? I ran over a guy laying in front of me three times in a row with my horse and he just shot me off, which made me feel like a total idiot. Also, why did DICE make the rear facing machine guns on planes so powerful on planes? Those machine guns do so much more damage than the actual machine guns on the fighter planes that it is nearly impossible to destroy a plane you're chasing if that plane has even a decent gunner on board. Why do you have to unlock pistols for every class, and why do different classes have different pistols? They're just pistols. Let me get a decent pistol for the scout class; the class is already bad enough for close quarters combat. Anti air guns, even if they don't hit your plane cause it to bounce around as if it is entering a sharknado. I'm sure I could go on, but as I've indicated, the game is not perfect; and some of the 'balancing' Dice has done since the beta (the light tank, it shoots so incredibly slow and is so much weaker now that I personally find it nearly useless) has actually made certain features that were overpowered so underpowered that they've become useless. But above all means, the main reason why I think this game is basically perfection is because of its setting based in the times of WW1, and this game completely nails the time era with the variety of weaponry it has to offer, the visuals of the maps/model designs and the single player war stories. In my opinion, the war stories were amazing, yes they may of been rather short in length but they certainly had quality and quality always is better than quantity. Battlefield 1 definitely supplies the best single player campaign since Bad Company 2. The game was perfect at launch not like the disastrous launch of BF4.

The graphics are absolutely beautiful! There is a little lag sometimes but other than a few occurrences the game always looks stunning! Plus all the building destruction just adds to the realness of the game!

The multiplayer is great especially if you play with a full squad! You actually get rewarded for playing as a team and it is so satisfying! My favorite mode is the new addition called Operations where you battle the enemy team across multiple maps You play the round, win or lose, and then you move on to the next rounds until one team loses.

The reason i gave the game an 8 out of 10 is because of the campaign. I personally did not enjoy it. It is essentially 5 mini campaigns with 5 different characters and will take maybe 4-5 hours to beat. I felt that there was no emotional connection between myself and the character i was using and it just felt dull. I feel that this campaign could have been great if they focused it on one character in the trenches to show what trench warfare was all about and etc I feel there was a lot of wasted potential for the campaign. That is my personal feeling towards the campaign but there are probably others out there who loved it and that's great!

To sum it all up Battlefield I is a great game and I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys FPS games and is sick of the COD type games. If this game was based on multiplayer only it would be a solid 10 out of 10 but due to the lackluster campaign in my opinion that why the game doesn't hit that full rating.

The last thing i want to do is thank DICE and EA for listening to the fans and giving us a game we actually wanted to play!!!!

Purchased the Deluxe Edition in order to play the game prior to its official release day and was pleasantly surprised at the initial stability of the game, at least compared to Battlefield 4's launch. I have not touched the single player campaign yet, so my review is solely based on the bread and butter of this game, its Multiplayer.

First and foremost, please disregard anyone who calls this a "battlefront re-skin". From Battlefield 2 all the way through Battlefield 4 I've put AT LEAST 200 hours into every iteration of Battlefield games (except 2142), and the only similarities this game shares with the shallow Battlefront game is the Frostbite engine, and maybe the Battle pickups that can be found around the map.

In terms of the overall online experience, I personally find it very satisfying and rewarding. The Scout (sniper) class is reminiscent of the recon in Bad Company 2 in terms of power and gadgets. Assault class provides ample destructive power that can really pester ground vehicles assuming you just dont run out after tanks out in the open, and coupled with SMG's they can also be great with CQC. The Medic class with DMR's and med packs are great for mid range battles, and the syringe revive takes away the need to "charge the paddles" like in Battlefield 4, which i found slightly annoying. Support class retains the same LMG and ammo pack/crate system everyone is already used to as well.

Tanks are extremely powerful and are feared throughout the battlefield, especially in the right hands. Mobility is sluggish, but the firepower is devastating. Horses are awkward though, and may take some getting used to, especially with how the play style changes with them when compared to an actual vehicle. Planes and airships are relatively easy to handle, but also slow in regards to mobility which is important when it comes to balance. The days of jet/helo whoring is basically gone for the time being, but it doesnt hinder the experience of being in the air.

Most importantly, the game focuses on Teamwork. Everything you do to support your squad and team gives you points. Even accepting a revive grants you points. You can shoot up the leaderboard by just being supportive, which is great. Although at the time being everyone ISNT a team player, i contribute this to the playerbase getting used to the game right now and trying to feel things out. This literally happens to every online shooter, so give it a few weeks before you see more people working as a more cohesive unit.

Overall its a fun game. Theres a few minor bugs, but nothing game breaking, at least in my experience.
