Great installment into the Battlefield series. It's a beautiful game and runs incredibly well. The launch was near flawless. First of all, I have to say that I believe this is the first or second time I write a review. I love Battlefield series and I'm a BF Veteran. I played all the BFs (even BF Heroes) since BF 1942. My favourite games of the series are BF2 and BF4 (yes, BF4, am I the only one that really love that game?)

Pros: - Beautiful graphics and immersion with that WW1 theme - Amazing sounds - Guns

My favourite games of the series are BF2 and BF4 (yes, BF4, am I the only one that really love that game?)

    Pros:
    - Beautiful graphics and immersion with that WW1 theme
    - Amazing sounds
    - Guns and the gameplay feels very good
    - Now you can climb high walls and higher rocks
    - Nice melee combat
    - Weather changes and their impact on our weapons
    - Realistic animations
    - Destruction
    - Slower pace than Hardline
    - Airships, trains, etc

    Cons:
    - Gun scheme with duplicated weapons and zero customization totally ruined what they did on BF3 and BF4
    - **** customization options on vehicles, I want to choose, no to have a predetermined tank profiles
    - The bayonet idea is good, but it's very bad implemented, it's bugged most of the times
    - Maps are boring, too mainstream and too lineal, nothing impressive
    - They still copy-pasting the same buildings on all maps
    - They destroyed the boat system of BF4, almost zero water combat
    - Lack of accesories and gatchets (good they finally added a crossbow)
    - Crashes even more than BF4 on launch with latest GPU drivers
    - Battlepacks are just for weapon and vehicle skins
    - Battlefrontish style, looks like they copy-pasted some things. Looks nice, works bad
    - The new "spawn on vehicle" system totally ruined the immersion of Battlefield
    - They killed battlelog to make an ingame system with lack of options comparing to battlelog
    - Point-click-kill weapons, hip shooting sometimes is even more effective than aiming, lmao
    - Less bullet fall than modern weapons of BF3 and BF4, lmao too
    - Lack of character customization: no skins/cammos for your character. Cmon, we are on 2017

It's ok most people think BF4 was **** on launch, but currently for me it's a far better game than Battlefield 1. For me Battlefield 1 is one of the most overrated games I played, I give it a 7/10

If you don't believe I played both games, just search me on battlelog or origin, my id is: PriceBlack

I've played previous Battlefield games (Bad Company 2, BF3) and I gotta say, this is the best one in terms of multiplayer. To those who are into first person shooters and historical based games, if you still don't own this game, SHAME ON YOU! 8/10 in it's current state because of the issues on PC and because the DLCs aren't released yet. Still thinking if I should get the premium pass even if it's 50 bucks. I will definetly change it up to a 9/10 when all things get sorted out as well as the premium pass (4 expansions coming up 2017).

I want to write a huge Review, but i want to make it very short, feels like a reskin of Star Wars battlefront...
The Gunplay is the worst, the movement is weird and the mousemovement (in the open beta it was oookay, but still weird) is the worst i have seen in a shooter...
This game is a totaly console port, you can even see the RB- and LB-Buttonicons on top of the menus... DICE shame

DICE shame on you! Bad Company 2 was epic, Battlefield 3 was great, Battlefield 4 was okay, but Star Wars battlefront and now Battlefield 1 are the worst BF-Games i have ever played...
Buy a cheap key if you want but you will notice a LOT of cheater, the only anti-cheating is Fairfight and it still bans people, but if you google about a hack, you will see there already Fairfight proof hacks...they just cost money.

    Just an amazing game :)
Sure, it won't simulate the WWI but it will give you the atmosphere of WWI.

The Story is really good, the best BF Story in my opinion. And of course the Multiplayer is also really cool.

Dice redeemed themselves from Battlefront. Brought back building destruction they left out from Battlefield 4 (levolution is boring). Amazing game filled with dense urban to sprawing montain maps, audio captures the chaos and humanity of war perfectly.

Well written stories, best i can remember in a game.
Multiplayer needs balancing mostly on sniper cap. ( that is one of the main reasons i didnt give a 10)

This game is amazing on so many levels! From time period (I salute Dice and EA for courage to bring us WW I game), unbelievable, I would say AAAA sound design, stunning visuals (and great optimisation as well) and of course soooo satisfying gunplay.

I'm amazed how the pure feeling of fighting and the whole atmosphere around WW I setting can make me so happy for hours. Looking you and your soldiers running through the trenches, while the enemy team is retreating from the fire from the airship, and a few minutes later looking at that same airship falling down in the middle of the map in a huge fireball is pure satisfaction... so cinematic!

Ok, ok... I get it, this game have great atmosphere, visuals and all that, but what about gameplay and felling while shooting, you may ask? I played all classes equally, maybe not support that much and I can say every class and guns have their place and time of use in the battlefield... you are in the trenches, take that shotgun or SMG and clear the sector, more open area, dominate with those bolt action rifles or medic guns (that can outplay snipers at medium-long range if you play it smart), what if you need to prevent enemies from pushing or taking certain sectors... take that LMG or mortar and do that.

I love that all classes now have some way of dealing with vehicles. You now don't feel powerless as a scout or medic when the tank shows up, because you can damage them... of course Assault is the main anti-vehicle class... but it feels good when you can stop tanks from repairing with K bullets and help your teammates take that metal devil faster. Also elite classes, they are debatable. I'm fine with flamethrower, tank hunter and cavalry class, as they have their role and are more acceptable than those two terminator guys. Because, beside more damage resistance they are not that much useful, and stray away a little from WW I tone.

Speaking of vehicles they feel powerful as they should, but if you approach them right and with the good teamwork they can be dealt with. I'm not a great pilot, so I didn't spend much of my game time in the air, but the thing I love about planes, is that they now require coordination and teamwork (except when you are in a fighter plane), because you wont last long if you are alone in the bomber.
Same thing with tanks, you have Light tank, Landship and Heavy tank aka indestructible spawn beacon :D and they can deal a lot of damage if you use them right and vice versa. And I would say to have them on the battlefield (playing with them or vs them) is more balanced and enjoyable experience than compared to BF3.
Oh what about behemoths and horses? SO MUCH FUN... especially horses, who are not there just for historical reasons, as they can do a lot of damage to infantry if you catch them in the open. Behemoths are great addition and give more depth to the gameplay, but I think they need some balancing.

What is a good game without good maps and modes right? And I can just say I'm in love with all maps, with Monte Grappa being my favorite (because it reminds me of my village, minus the fortress :D ). They are trully amazing and have great atmoshpere, with all the different parts and areas that favors one gameplay over the other, dynamic weather that can change a flow of the game, great job Dice. Also we get the new game mode, Operations, that became instant classic for players, thou it needs some balancing in terms of number of attack and behemoths, because it's easier to defend and win the operation, due to fact that it takes across 2 maps.

Damn, there is so much to talk about and I'm over 4000 characters...

I think I covered basic thinks that I liked about games, now some thinks that I don't like, or have mixed feelings, and hope they would get fixed/rebalanced/added...

More guns please! Yea, we have a lot of guns on the list, but in fact it's 4-5 weapons in each class with different variant (different, scope, better hipfire etc.). I can't said I'm bored of current guns, but having a more options to choose from is a plus for me. Give us a little more customization options (I'm not talking about cosmetics), I know it's not that accurate in terms of history, but If we can have Terminators in game, why can't we have a few extra iron sights options? Where are Russia, France... and Yugoslavia, where all of this started? Singleplayer is good at moments but it's short and don't have time to develop, It's a shame, because it had potentials.
Give us option to change and customize loadouts in menu, not just in browser or in game.
Battlepacks are good addition especially when you don't have to pay real money for them but more skins and craftable weapons would be nice.

I'm out of characters so here is my closing.

Great game with amazing atmosphere and satisfying gameplay that will keep you entertained for hours. Truly the most fun I had in a multiplayer game... for a long time!

Battlefield 1’s campaign tells the story of 6 different characters during the First World War...
Each of the 6 chapters take place in different places of the world, and they all feel unique from one another….
You’ll take to the ground, air, and shadows…
You’ll be a tank searching for a friend… you’ll drive a tank trying to take control of the land, take to the sky as a gambler with a hint that maybe things didn’t happen the way he says it did, stealth through areas as a woman trying to sabotage war plans and destroy an armored train, and an Australian runner slicing through the trenches…
The campaign in total will take about 5 an a half hours long to complete give or take, all depending on how often you die..
And you will... a lot, as this game is brutal even on its normal difficulty…
If you’re an aggressive players, you’re not going to do too well in all but 1 chapter as you can only take about 3 hits and you’re dead… and the checkpoints can be complete garbage at time...
Especially considering how large locations are…
For the most part, this isn’t just a run and gun linear shooter… when you touch ground you’re on a massive battlefield crawling with enemies…
You have the choice to mark them all from a vantage point... sneak around them all with distractions or just avoiding them, sneak behind them for a quiet melee… get involved in a gun fight, the option for the most part is up to you, but there are many sections that force you to clear the area of enemies..
Gunplay in this game can be pretty frustrating as again... 3 shots and you’re dead…
all cover can be destroyed including houses, you do regenerate health, but it feels like an eternity before it will start, and hit detection in this game is far from perfect…
Keep in mind I’m talking single player here.. Meaning internet connection isn’t at fault...
Many times my bullets would go right through enemies doing no damage at all…
But I only found this to be the case in single player, no noticeable problems in multiplayer...
There are also annoying enemy variants like flamethrower guys and heavy armor guys who are invulnerable to bullets…
You can kill the heavy with a grenade, but the flamethrower guy is invulnerable against bullets and grenades... he can only be killed by shooting his tank…
Which you’d think a grenade would be fine for this, but no.. it’s not… really breaking immersion throwing in video gamey enemies like this when everything else feels so real…
The camera would also get a little awkward when I would try to run and find cover, which is a real frustration when you’re taking part in a section of the chapter with tanks or the armored train…
Especially since again, the checkpoints are so unforgiving and they can all instakill your character…
These sections take time.. A lot of time… and patience... as well as a handful of other stealthy sections that can sometimes feel like they’re plucked out of a hitman game with their punishment for detection…
These levels are absolutely gorgeous though, and I cared about all 6 characters during my brief time with them…
The single player gameplay just unfortunately lacks a hint of polish which stops the campaign from ever wowing me…
What did wow me however was the multiplayer…
The maps are well designed.. The mayhem of zeppelins, tanks, horses, and airplanes is almost magic…
You never really think of perspective in multiplayer games... people are usually for the most part doing the same thing as you, but better or worse…
A bunch of chickens running around with their heads cut off…
Here however, it’s such a great feeling to sit back and realize that everything you see going on, is another person having an entirely different perspective than you are…
Controlling airships.. Planes…taking them out... riding horseback into a battle zone…
It really breathes life into the competitive gaming realm…
Battlefield essentially has 6 different game types…
domination with is your typical capture and hold, rush witch is an attack and defend game, team death match where most kills wins… , war pigeons which is essentially a capture the flag match.. Get the pigeon, release the pigeon, and stop enemies from doing the game.
conquest, which is capture and hold but with complete mayhem going on… a true feeling of war…
and finally operations, which gives a back story to each of the fighting locations.. Here you either try to gradually capture all sections by capturing and holding 1 to 3 separate spots of a map or defend these sections by filling a kill counter...
Battlefield offers something here for everyone… a solid single player experience good enough to stand on its own... and a brilliant multiplayer that brings the multiplayer genre to new heights...
    I give battlefield 1...

BF1 and games like these that have been dumbed down so much that they are becoming the 'reality shows' of the gaming world. Let's be honest now, a casual player generally plays for the first month or two but after a while they leave it for the next shiny thing while they leave the game to the rest of us, ...in a broken, half-assed state lacking many features and introducing many unwanted ones.

You have no idea how it pains me to see where BF is going. Thousands of hours that I put in into BF42, BF2 and all the way up to BF4. From a long time fan this hurts.

Pretty graphics but no soul, you know... similar to games that have sold out to the casual crowd like Fallout 4, Diablo 3 etc. Quantity over Quality will be the downfall of this series and the gaming industry including DICE. Yes dumbing down a game to get more people to purchase your game is a great business decision at first but in the long run it will be death to a series that one cherished and loved.

It's sad to say but Battlefield has lost its core roots. So much for Battlefield to continue having a special unique identity ...at least it used to have one.

This problem of overpopulation of snipers has been extant since Bad Company 2, and EA/DICE have clearly not bothered to solve it. I don't think EA/DICE would fix this anytime soon - it's a shame when the game allegedly promotes itself as a team shooter. There's not even a class quota to address this.

Most conquest maps are great except for 2 maps - they are for puxxy snipers only. In conquest everybody will be busy doing something and there is no meat grinder locations where everyone just stuck there spamming explosives. There are enough covers so that sniping puxxxies will not dominate the map.

Rush mode is fun again, although I kinda miss the 32/48 ppl server.

TDM is now **** not enough ppl in the server to kill, and there are ppl leaving all the time.. We serious need 48 ppl TDM back again.

Operation is kinda okay to play. Expect meat grinders here and there.

Graphics are epic as always. Single player mode is awesome and story rich. No game breaking bugs so far. There are Hackers though, without private servers, it is bad - nobody can kick them out. Fxxk the hackers.

    All in all 9/10.

BF1 is a fresh take on the Battlefield franchise. The new WWI setting is a really nice change of pace from the normal modern shooters the market is drowning in. Like the previous BF games this one encourages teamwork and tactics rather then just running down a hall 360noscoping people.

The game looks fantastic, the mud that collects on your weapons after coming under fire from enemies is a really cool touch. The guns, for the most part, are pretty darn realistic to their real counterparts. The game is new and some need to be nerfed or buffed, but Dice is pretty good at doing that. The game feels full at purchase, at least it did for me.

Now before we get to multiplayer lets talk Campaign. BF1 tells the story of WWI from a number of different characters. The campaign's stories are great, though sadly there are no levels from the other side's point of view. I am hoping that the German guy aiming his rifle at the first character will turn out to be the narrator of some expansion campaign or something in the future, but that is not set in stone. The campaign for sure is Multiplayer training, each story teaches you different styles and tactics for playing online. There is a tank heavy campaign and a plane heavy campaign, that are both quite fun, engaging, and teach you how to use the war devices.

Multiplayer is great, I really have not had many issues with the launch of the game. A few guns are too OP at the moment and could a good nerfing, but the game plays very well. The maps are pretty fun. And the new objective mode is fantastic! If you have ever played Red Orchestra it is pretty much that game mode! Imagine a conquest where you really have to work together to push forward into enemy territory or push back the assaulting armies.

    PLAYABLE ARMIES:
    AMERICA
    ENGLAND (And it's buddies)
    ITALY

    GERMANY
    AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN
    THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE

I would like the ability to play other armies involved in WWI but with map packs and expansions in the future I assume that others will be in time.

OVERALL: I would recommend this game to anyone who is big into WWI. It brought me back to the age of classic shooters, and that in itself is amazing!

I've played the game quite a bit now, and I'm sad to say I've never gotten that "this is amazing!" feeling that I got in Battlefield 4. The game is beautiful, and a wonderful ode to the first World War, but the gameplay feels impossible from mid to long distance. Of course, weapons were less accurate back then, but when has Battlefield been about complete historical accuracy? When I point my damn gun at someone, and it's a semi-auto weapon, I want the shot to hit them!

The game is dominated by smg's and lmg's. Lmg's are the most accurate weapons in the game (unless you're at a dead standstill with a sniper) which makes no sense. Playing this game just makes me want to jump back into BF4, which is what I've been doing.

Many people will say I'm just bad, but I'm one of those players that makes it into the top 3-5 players every match when I'm trying. I'm also rank 83.

To sum up: the game is beautiful and intriguing, but it's too annoying and luck/explosive-based to be a lot of fun.

Great Good Game fu/ck/ed by rotten stink cheaters.

Magnificent!! even the campaign alone is worth the purchase just for the experience of it, besides the endless hours of multiplayer. Its really polished from the menus to on screen action. Works perfect with a controller, runs brilliant this is no console port either. Its just is everything you want from a WW1 game, fits the fantasy of being in a warzone its that good.

Just finished the campaign intro and the first 2 chapters and came here to confirm that this game has very high standards in terms of realisation, and directing. The episodes I played through actually engaged me emotionally through the war stories, good acting, dialogue writing and music. Just Wow!! Jumping right back into action!

Has DICE made the Great War Great again? Well, it's certainly delivered a fresh-feeling shooter in a very saturated market. But the missing modes are felt. [Issue#257, p.58]

Battlefield 1 is better than its predecessors in almost every way. [Christmas 2016, p.102]

Battlefield is back in shape and more so with fresh theme of the first Great War! After a long time, the campaign is successful and multiplayer is traditionally excellent. So, this year your choice is set! [Issue #269]
