This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is my opinion about Valhalla. I'm not used to send opinions about games because I have a small hope that I will be listenned. However, because I like the Ubisoft games, I gonna Try. Hope, somebody who make decisions at least heard about this.

The worst Assassin’s Creed Ever. I used to love Ubisoft historic games. I’ve played all Prince of Persia series and the majority of AC. However, I have to admit that it’s becoming worse and worse every new one.
We are already used to the bugs in the game, I’m ok with it. The problem is that you are changing important games characteristics.
First, RPG wasn’t a good idea, the game become less fluid and we have only three options: pay, reduce level or expend time in side quests and resources searches, even if we just want to enjoy the story. I suggest a new mode without levels.
Second, the main character, Eivor is perhaps the weaker, slower and boring of all. Enemies always attack him first, even on the light attack, and you have only three moviments to divide your small energy between evade and attack. I imagine a fight between him and Kenway or Arno. It become the game so boring and annoying that I almost loose my patient.
Third, health are so scarce that you die many times without any chance to react. I strongly prefer autohealing after run.
Minors problems like you several times attack in directions you don’t want, you can’t climb everywhere and your claw its not so funny. I still miss a game where you have to think to solve puzzles like Prince of Persia anyway. At least, we don’t have to spend time out animus or forced to kill templars if we don’t want.
When AC Black Flag was release I taught we are going to have bests games ever. Amazing, Ships fights, dynamic fights and character. But looks like you lost your way along the way. Sad.
Maybe I’m not the games public you wan’t perhaps. Anyway, Nowadays, that’s is how I feel it today.

Way too many bugs, whether they're visual, losing items in the inventory, or just game not working properly (for example, I could not move a crate at all, although the guy on youtube could, sometimes fixing these bugs requires a reload of a past save game, etc.) Today alone I experienced 5 game crashes in 30 minutes. Had it not have as many issues, it could've been a really good game.Way too many bugs, whether they're visual, losing items in the inventory, or just game not working properly (for example, I could not move a crate at all, although the guy on youtube could, sometimes fixing these bugs requires a reload of a past save game, etc.) Today alone I experienced 5 game crashes in 30 minutes. It is an amazing game. As every other assassins Creed game it is well written and very very beautiful. The only critcism that comes for this or for every assassins creed game are from people that does'nt like to play, want it to end fast and does'nt really has the calm and the mindset to enjoy the huge world exploration.

    Short:
Best game of 2020 (before CP2077 comes out) This game is so good! I might be a little biased since im a dane but this is the best AC game since the Ezio trilogy in my opinion. A beautiful and immersive world, that makes your **** very hard from pure eyegasm. Interesting stories and charcters. Big battles that makes you feel like a war machine. Many ways to make your story, your own through customization and choices.

    Long:
    Pros
-The quest system makes the world feel immersive and lived in (kudos ubi)
-The game looks absolutely stunning even with my mid-tier 2070S (and never under 70 fps)
-Big, cool, cinematic battles that is a movie worthy
    -Many customization options
    -Interesting plots and characters
-RAVENSTHORP (your settlement and everything about it)
-It is very long which i personally like, and to me, everything feels worth doing (meaning it doesnt feel like filler like in AC:O)
-The longship and raiding is just awesome
-The skill system lets you play YOUR WAY

    Cons
-Many... MANY bugs! (still no patches a week after launch. It unfortunately took away from the immersivnes of the game)
-It takes a little to long to get a decent selection of armors and weapons (BUT, it does make you happier when you finally get there)
-More animation variation considering that you kill A LOT and it does get repetetive in a 65+ hour long game (the combat system is still great though)

Petite critique d'Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

    des bugs qui gâchent l'immersion;

Finished only around 21% of the game in 16 hours. This game is massive and picturesque. Every region in the game differs from another with changes in climate, mountains, flora & fauna. The story in itself is more mature this time around and has a humanized touch lacking in earlier AC games Love this game , hoping to complete the campaign in the next few weeks!

Bugs, never did I play game that had more game breaking bugs, amongst which were frequent crashes, broken quests, whole save crumbled apart and worst one - main story broke once which was 30 hours of playtime lost.

Considering the state the game is and lack of clear engaging story puts it at 4/10.

I find it absolutely amazing how Ubisoft managed to make the viking age, probably one if the most exciting (and controversial) ages in history, BORING AS HELL.

"How do you do that?" you ask? Let me tell you: Let's start with the raids - you know, the thing where vikings pillaged hundreds of monasteries, towns and villages across England, slaughtering, raping and torturing thousands
I find it absolutely amazing how Ubisoft managed to make the viking age, probably one if the most exciting (and controversial) ages in history, BORING AS HELL.

"How do you do that?" you ask? Let me tell you:

Let's start with the raids - you know, the thing where vikings pillaged hundreds of monasteries, towns and villages across England, slaughtering, raping and torturing thousands of innocent people while stealing everything in sight. Well Ubisoft, for good reason, decided that those raids probably wouldn't sit well with too many people, and I get that. I do. I don't want to rape or torture anyone, not even in a video game, so I expected the raids to be a bit more tame. I just didn't realise how tame. Kill a civilian? DESYNCHRONIZED. Loot a monastery filled with gilded treasure? +1 CARBON INGOT. Ransack an entire village? 400+ SUPPLIES. Rinse, and repeat. New raid, same deal. After 2 raids, you've seen it all. There's nothing new to do, to get or to see. I'd rather not.

Well, how about the gameplay at least? Fun? No. Unless pressing less than three buttons gets you going, the combat in Valhalla is absolutely laughable. No challenge at all, no rewarding 'UMPH' when you wack an enemy between the eyes with your two-feet long greatsword. That goes for climbing as well. Press 'A' and move foward and watch as Eivor climbs mountain-sides as smooth as marble with ease and jumps sixty feet from the top of a building, only to land safely and unharmed. Oh wait, sometimes he limps for about three seconds berfore he can sprint again. I'm not saying that parkour should be hard, it is an AC game after all, but there is no challenge to climbing AT ALL. Back in AC2, you needed to do different combos to reach certain places, and it could be a bit tricky sometimes, but it felt REWARDING. Also, you couldn't climb **** mountains. In Valhalla, if they added a building made entirely out of giant sheets of mirrors, I bet Eivor could climb it while scratching his ass at the same time. Yawn

While Unity had its flaws, it did one thing right. Combat was hard. For an Assassin's Creed game at least. If you were outnumbered, you'd better get the hell out of there or buckle up, cause you'd be in for a hell of an ass kicking. It forced you to think like, oh I don't know, an ASSASSIN?

Okay, well, the story has been the strong point of AC, except for the last few maybe - how is it in this? I'll tell you. There isn't much. It starts of great, with a strong opening that really has you longing to get to England. Once you get there, you start recruiting allies. And then you recruit more allies. And then a few more. And a few more. Currently, I have made alliances with 4 kings and two armies - how many alliences does my podunk in the middle of nowhere need? It's not like they've taken the time to add any meaningful trading with other cities, so what's the **** point of these damn alliances?

Through all of my time playing Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, I kept thinking 'What's the point?'.

Why do I need to weaken someones army, when I can run through their entire city unscathed and open the door for my useless battering ram and the rest of my men, who for some reason cannot die? Why do I need to upgrade the village beyond the blacksmith, when all I get is an increase to a 'Feast' buff that I don't need to use? Why do I need a Jomsviking when it has no effect on my crew at all? Why do I need to change my crew when none of them are different from each other?

There's no threat, no sense of urgency to any of it. So, what's the point Ubisoft? I can live with you not making Assassin's Creed games be about assassins, but you better have a good reason for it. This game is a BORE from start to finish, and now I'm really scared, because if you managed to make vikings boring, there's no telling what you'll ruin next.

Ok so its a good game. But I honestly preferred both Origin and Odyssey over this offering. Visually its nice but they have done some weird things in it.
The Raven is now pretty pointless just showing a general area, replaced with some blurry Odins sight thing which is much less clean and crisp. I liked the old system of the bird tagging the enemies, to me it was a good assassin sitting with a notebook and noting down routes and guard changes, I have no idea what the blurry red things are actually doing and with not the best eyesight in the world it makes the game much less enjoyable.
I hope they will rethink it and bring it back, maybe as an optional.
Then there's the sound - I make so much noise when sneaking through bushes (sounds like someone wearing army boots and brand new jeans and apparently carrying a load of bubble wrap) I simply can't understand the entire enemy camp not hearing me and I can't seem to find any way to switch it off, discouraging when I have a sneak build.
Final remark, side quests that don't appear in the quest log, seem to be in notes when they are anywhere at all but sometimes not even there, and don't allow completion for any number of ridiculous reasons that have nothing to do with the actual side quest itself, both Origin and Odyssey had no problem with this so I have no idea why Valhalla is getting it wrong.
Other than that its a solid RPG but I'm afraid the issues are wearing me down, I doubt I'll finish it.
    Edit for further play time
Still playing this as I like to be thorough. Re my above comments the sound issue seems much better once getting to England. Still having problems completing quests and have to do an awful lot of saves and reloads to get certain things to move forward (so they are working, just somehow not getting completed). I am supposed to have a wolf fighting alongside me, if he does he's invisible. Eivor sometimes talks to him but nada, he's back at the longhouse apparently sleeping on top of a candle at the foot of my bed and the Raven is still completely pointless.
Its fun but still lots of niggles and if I'm honest I wish I'd waited for several gameplay patches before purchase, Ubisoft really need to fix some bugs. I won't be changing my score until some improvement is seen.

The world is huge yes but its a running simulator. The puzzles are all the same, I spend more time looking for the cave entrance then doing the actual puzzle. There is no actual character level instead you get a skill tree which is basically stats node. That's how they calculate level. Weapons don't matter in power level so you could get a grey starter weapon and be 300 " power level". Expand

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a surprise to me at least. After seeing the early gameplay of the game I didn't feel the game environment would have been as interesting as Origins or Odessey. However, I was wrong to assume that. The landscape in Valhalla is gorgeous and invited to explore and see. From the Old Roman buildings to the stunning Monasteries. This game is a sight to see. However, I was wrong to assume that. The landscape in Valhalla is gorgeous and invited to explore and see. From the Old Roman buildings to the stunning Monasteries. This game is a sight to see. Now I'm not playing at max settings or 4k. I am on an ultrawide 35" 1440p monitor which is powered by my 2070 super. At very high settings I'm around 60-70 fps. At 4k and ultra settings I can only imagine the game is breathtaking. We were given a new feature in that of the settlement building. Which is a great added feature. Although it is rather simple is the process of getting only raw materials and supplies which mainly come from raiding. It lets you feel more in touch or connection emotionally with the NPCs and a place home. I hope with the future of AC games there will add some smaller touches such as being able to do your room or color the builds with either different wood types or just paint. AC JAPAN!!! Next is the storyline. The main character is good, I believe the voice acting and how the story plays favor the male this time around tho. Odessey I always felt the female role was way better. Not going to go into any spoilers but the storyline does grab you and immerses you into the world of AC Valhalla. (PLAY THE GAME) The sounds are great and even the movement of the NPCs and your own character makes the game feel alive. Other I guess feature of the game is the ability to keep any weapon and just upgrade it rather than having to keep switching out. This one I feel is not as grand as they make it seem. In Odessey, you could upgrade and keep your starting weapon. In one of my play-throughs, I only use Wolf's Sword. But back to Valhalla. This way of going about the game is ok, but I felt the armor and weapons were lacking very much so to the point of kinda boring. Yes, when upgrading they can change the appearance which is nice. With the limited amount of items, I feel the customizing for those items should have been a lot more. From color to the type of metal I would have wanted to use. This does not take away from the overall greatness that Valhalla has brought us. As for glitches and crashes, I have crashed 2 twice to the desktop with no error message or anything. It just disappeared like I never was playing. I have seen a glitch I believe when running at points as in my leg was injured and limping but I was not. Also, some sound issues when trying to blow the horn doesn't always work. After playing through and seeing the positive and negative/issues the game is without a doubt one of if not these best Assassin Creed game to date. If you have any interest in Vikings or even that time period in Europe I'm sure you will have hours of funs and enjoyment with this game. I can not wait for the DLC for Ireland and France. It could take this game to a 10/10 Expand

This game is amazing anyway, but just to hear that it's actually doing really well just made this november so much better. Assassins creed Valhalla is certainly a great game, it's a definite improvement from the last which unlike a lot of people I actually really enjoyed.

To start the Viking era is one of my favorite time periods in history so I was incredibly hyped for this games release. With a total of 23 hours played so far I am still getting through the story and have barely touched the side missions aka world events. This game really captures the idea of being a viking as raiding settlements for the benefit of your own is a great feature and not having to worry about picking up different equipment constantly is a nice change from odyssey.

Here's a short list of the main features I enjoy:
    -Raiding.
    -Drinking games
    -Board games
    -Feasts
    -Upgrading settlement
    -Contracts
    -Customization
    -Ship Customization
    -Relationships
    -fishing
    -Hunting
    -Disguising
    -Blending In

This game is similar but in its own way very different to AC odyssey. It has returned/improved features that Odyssey was missing such as Blending in with Priests, Benches and even drunks.
And now the total option of putting your own hood up to disguise yourself, which I think is a tiny but great addition to the game, with little details like this it really changes the game and definitely for the best. But of course with every new game it has its fair share of bugs/glitches I have encountered 2 pretty game changing Bugs, such as duplicating clothing, now usually this would not be an issue as in Odyssey you would scrap useless Armour for materials but in AC Valhalla no longer can you do this, you cannot sell Gear either, making this very annoying having the same clothing 4 times in your inventory. I have also encountered another terrible bug that causes my weapons to disappear from my inventory, now seeing how normally in Odyssey you would find many duplicates, in AC Valhalla this is also not the case as they have removed Gear drops from enemy AI meaning once my weapon is gone...its gone. Other than that I run the game on Ultra graphics without any frame rate issues or crashes. This certainly isn't the best AC game but I think its a great step in the right direction to please many different opinions within the fan base. And after a few patches that fix the bugs i mentioned i'm sure on my second run of the game it will be better than the first.

Graphics? Worse. My freaking horse looks like something out of an early PS2 game. Next to nothing but empty forest, and half of that is literally just that: EMPTY forest. I might see one or two deer travelling for three days. Brilliant.

Controls? Clunkier. Eivor is far less responsive than both Bayek and Kassandra/Alexios, and reminds me of trying to play ACIII on PC. It typically takes at least ten seconds to get him to start climbing, to jump down, to get in his boat, to captain his boat... Holy hell it's bad.

Characters? Eivor isn't a character. He's literally 'Insert Male Mary Sue Here' man. He's a fighter, and he's a skald. He's okay with everything and anything, but he's honorable. He's reckless, impulsive, and hot-headed... But also a tactician, cunning, and patient. The two Assassins are boring, and I can't find myself caring about either of them enough to care about their 'twist' that's coming. The only relatively interesting one so far is Sigurd, and I'm 90% confident that's only because out of the rest of the characters, he's somewhat consistent.

The plot? What plot? Vikings sail to England, build colony. Vikings help take over England. End of plot. Like... sure, I get that there's a bunch more stuff end-game, but I legitimately can't even bring myself to care what it is, because I've spent the last 15 hours bored out of my mind, as I get to act out the History Channel's documentary on Vikings.

So I have awful graphics, clunky controls, no characters, and no plot. How did Ubisoft go backwards with this game? Like, I'll give it three stars because hey... It's an AC game, and it wasn't awful -it was just the worst one out of the last 5 released.

But why did i gave it a 7? Because as always there are some problems, and because it's Ubisoft the problems are the ones that you can find in every other AC game, the animations brake so easily, everything is bugged, it's really rare to do a combat or watch a cutscene where everything goes as planned, 2nd thing is that the map is too big, i mean it's really too enormous, and there are many maps!!! We have England, Norway, Asgard and one more that i have to explore, i mean thats really a lot, and maybe a little bit too much... Anyway this AC is really good, it feels like an AC finally, the reason of my 7 are as always with ubisoft the technical problems that the game has, but really good, Ubi please keep it up for the next games. Voice acting is well done for the most part. The voice actors for Eivor (male) and Sigurd were spot on.
The game is absolutely gorgeous. Primary character models are textured and designed well.
The addition of 'Flyting' is a mechanic I did not expect would be fun.
    The praise ends there.
Mediocre game at best not worth the price of entry. Ubisoft made it blatantly clear with Origin and Odyssey that they have little respect for their consumers with their cash-shop. Nothing has changed here. They've also delivered on continuing to show a lack of respect for your time by constantly wasting it on frivolous tasks ad tedium by marketing these events as 'Exploration' mechanics when it is nothing more than bloat. The UI HUD display for marked items is incredibly inaccurate and does not represent proper verticality. The HUD does not always display points of entry for well hidden items often requiring a significant time investment to locate marked items for even the most mundane category. Had these searches been limited to items of notable interest this would not be an issue but it is far too prevalent for simple resource caches.
In almost every way this game is a step back from it's predecessor. The combat is disconnected, clunky and slow. The addition of a stamina bar generates extra complication where no additional complexity was needed. The skill tree system prevents players from truly creating a 'build' to compliment their vision of play. Locating abilities can be random and egregious if you are playing blind, adding an additional level of unwanted or unneeded complexity.
In a franchise built around stealth mechanics, this title falls flat on it's face. Introducing the ability to 'Blend' into areas is a fan service with criminally poor execution.
The Loot system while a step in the right direction, flounders without a substantial time commitment.
Side Quests are short and sweet but also lacking context and direction in a few instances. Some are also bugged and incompletable.
The parkour mechanics are not as tight and polished as they were in Odyssey making some collectibles a rage inducing practice in futility.

This game is not a terrible game by any stretch of the imagination but it is far from good. It is clear that Ubisoft is attempting to milk player's time as much as they can in an effort to steer people towards their cash store which is clearly evident due to how much bloat is just beneath the surface of the core game. You can still play and enjoy this game without spending a penny, but the fact that time saver purchase-ables exist should be indicative of Ubisoft's endgame here.

Also we have a full-value stealth system including the possibility of the instant kill of EVERY enemy by the hidden blade which is also perfect for me. The massive battles are perfect if to compare them with the Odyssey. Now we have a complete captivating castle sieges unlike the previous part where we had tedious battles of blue and red commands. Ubisoft tryes to make the Assassins' Creed franchise great again and that is good. The only minus for me are some graphic bugs and boring music. Maybe the open world is a little empty. So the real mark is 8/10, the game is not ideal of course, but I have seen here a lot of nonobjective negative comments, so that's why my mark is 10. However it is the best Assassin from the Black Flag times. Keep it up Ubisoft - that was a very pleasant surprise in this terrible year. Ну, а если вкратце и по-русски - это лучший ассасин со времен Черного Флага. Expand

Major improvement from Odyssey. While combat is only slightly improved, the questing & gear progression feel more satisfying now.

To me personally this top 3 Assassin's Creed game ever made. These two maps alone (England and Norway) have so much content and stuff to explore. And then they add Ireland later?? That's everything i wanted from this game, maybe even more.

Here's a 10 to make this score more like it should be, sad to see this site has so many fake accounts and bots. This game is amazing and these losers are trying to lower this score. Awful. At the same time there's over 500 fake 10/10 accounts on demon souls remake, can't believe anyone takes this site even seriously.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a great-looking open-world game with impressive landscapes and cinematography. However, the checklist collectible open-world still needs some work to feel truly engaging, and combat is too tedious and too frequent to be compelling. As a lapsed fan of Assassin's Creed trying to see if I can click with the series once again, Valhalla didn't quite hook me as I was hoping it would.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a lot of fun and easy to sink dozens of hours into. It is the best entry in the more recent trilogy and genuinely elevates the gameplay mechanics. Content could be considered somewhat bloated still, but it is diverse enough and the setting and story is solid most of the way through.

Sneaking is fun, fighting is fun, walking through the great outdoors is so much fun. Sightseeing too! Valhalla is free minded and could be innovative, but lacks skills to persuade its players about that. [Issue#308]
