Great game , great ending , great plot , very good gameplay. What makes it feel better is that this games comes out after the disappointment of Odyssey. Took me 80 hours to finish it and It never felt like 80 hours. Its so addictive and well made. Sure it has its flaws because it is Ubisoft who made it but I still love this game one of my favourite games of the franchise

I loved odyssey but this is probably the best AC game since Black Flag.
For me, it's everything original AC 1 wanted to be.
A lot of variety of the small towns cities enemy types etc.
The game has a lot of enjoyable side quests and things to do in between the main story. Leveling up not annoying FOR THE FIRST TIME in a long time!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 93% completion took roughly 104 hours of in-game gameplay time, with some Orlog, or drinking challenge remaining.
Some possible spoilers will be in this review, so if you did not play the game yet, I advise you to look elsewhere.

    Positives:

-First off let me start off with the story. Personally, I found the story really well written, and engaging, no matter if you played as Layla or Eivor. The modern arc, which I really did not like in Origins, and Odyssey took a turn to the better, with some plot twist, that are albeit somewhat predictable if you do the Animus Anomaly mysteries, but nonetheless, are surprising. (If you want to be surprised then do the Animus Anomalies after completing the main story, to truly understand what happened to the Isu gods)

-After that we have gameplay, smooth combat, rewarding stealth mechanics, and a variety of abilities, that feel much more rewarding to unlock than in Odyssey. I also really like the addition of the stamina bar in combat, which can limit the amount of attacks, or rolls you are able to do. In Odyssey, I spent most of my time rolling in combat, but parrying in this game feels more rewarding, as a good parry not only staggers the enemy, but also it can deal damage, and make it easier for you to do a stun attack or a stomp kill.

-Much better gear system, with less full inventories, but with a good upgrading system.

-The game's optimizations are really good. I have an i5 6500, and a GTX 1070 in a 4-5 year old system, but it handled the game really well, rarely dripping below 60 fps in intense combat situations such as raiding a monastery, or taking a castle.

    Negatives:

-Why aren't there any one handed swords in this game?

-Bugs, but that can be fixed when a patch comes.

    -Hardest difficulty can feel easy.

-However an SSD is required for the game to run smoothly. I played on an HDD myself, and the load times were awfully long, the worst one being travelling to Asgard/Jotunheim, which took almost 5 minutes, with a freshly defragmented HDD.

    In conclusion:
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a well worth game to put your money on, considering it gave me 104 hours of playtime for 48 Euros, which is less than half of an Euro for an hour of gameplay, which is a really good time considering Demon's Souls took 23 hour to complete (Although, that was 23 really enjoyable hour) for 60 euros. It is well worth the price for anyone longing for a great viking adventure, or if he is a fan of the series.

I finished AC Valhalla yesterday, afte 125 hours of play. Story wise, Valhalla is the best AC game since AC 2. Ubisoft has taken a step in the right direction. What a great game. I can't wait to play the next AC game.

Graphics looks fantastic, stunning beauty of details even for my old ps4. Efect after water scenes are fantastic specially on legendary weapons! Legendary weapons are so awesome specially puzzles and cut scenes for it. Puzzles in this game sometimes made me stop and really think and i love it. I was afraid that there will be so much fighting that i wouldn't have AC feeling but I ended most of game in stealthy mood and those fights. You really can be assassin's creed stealthy guy/girl and fearless Viking in same afternoon! Voice acting for female is fantastic!!!
Story is brilliant, heartbreaking sometimes and serious but ridiculous in same time...
And you explore much more then England and Norway and i was so happy when I found new additions on map and atlas!
I absolutely love settlement addition on ac and this is awesome. Feels really like home. Love npcs and I'm just hoping that you will be able to explore deeper some npc specially one that os in romantic relationship with main characters. I love new version of side quests and find them more enjoyable and fun in this game. I jist love to call my horse and exploring open world even hours after story. I will definitely play DLC for this game!

Playing on XSX, the game is amazing. I've played every single Assassin's Creed game at launch, and this is the most happy I've been with any of them since Brotherhood. A big part of that is probably because I personally love Viking lore.

Performance of the game is amazing, graphics a re really good and the story is really long.
I preordered the game and played close to 140 hours since launch and I have never experienced any kind of gamebreaking bug or something similar.

But apart from that, the game nails the setting. Eivor is a fantastic character, especially the male voice actor. His story with Sigurd was an exciting one, and the world really pulled me in. I couldn't finish fully Odyssey, but here I managed to 100% while still being invested in the world. I think the element of a homestead was great, its fun to keep returning to such a central location. Hopefully this element stays. Next to that, the music was outstanding. The man who sings most of these songs is called Einar Selvik and he has a band Wardruna that is very old-norse inspired. I have been listening to his albums on repeat now for a good time, and its all thanks to AC Valhalla. Very satisfying conclusion, and I am looking forwards for the next one! Expand

    Chapter 2: Is it good?

AC Valhalla has lots to love. Snowy Norway, Colorful England, Dream world, North America. Each of these places have their own feels and are unique in their own way. It's not best in the series, but it's in my top 5 as of right now. Despite lacking in some ways, it's best of last three games.

Chapter 3: Story, Main Character, Graphics, Music/Sound.

Story is long and has it's good moments and faults, but to avoid spoilers, i can't really write anything else about that. Main character "Eivor", specially male Eivor has one of the better voice actors AC has had in long time. His serious personality fits with this game well.

Sound is okay, but music is very good. Graphics could be better, as RDR2 looks better, but it's still acceptable.

Conclusion : Overall enjoyable game, not best, far from worst.

I believe Ubisoft is big enough and resourceful enough to produce a range of products large enough for a wide audience. That means an individual doesn't necessarily have to play *all* assassin's creed games. That would spare one of burnout and make for a much better experience, such as mine. This game has incredible atmosphere and music. I literally spent over 30 minutes just climbing the walls of London and enjoying the sunset. There are many incredible looking locations in this game. If you go into walking mode, some of the best music pieces of AC series history, start playing.

I have seen that some are trying to point out, that this game is empty, that's not true at all.

I have seen that some are trying to point out, that this game is empty, that's not true at all. It has just enough things to explore, but some of the empty areas are very much intentional. Red Dead Redemption 2 was exactly the same way. There are areas that have interesting stuff and then there are areas of just nature, beaches, forests etc. After all it's trying to be realistic presentation of 800s Norway and England. It would be awful, if behind every corner was some monster to fight with or gang of soldiers. That's one of the reasons why Odyssey failed, it had too much unnecessary content and thankfully Valhalla fixes that mistake.

Story in this game isn't sadly strongest, but it's not bad either. Just somewhere in between. Some missions are very fun, some are very basic and even boring. For example i was way more interested in Black Flag's story. But to look at this game as a complete package, it's still very nice and overall game design/open world design is way better than last two entries.

I have no idea where AC is going next or what's happening with this series, but if Valhalla happens to be last decent AC, then at least this series ended on positive note.

Valhalla is decent, but lacks lots of stuff that made Unity and Black Flag great. Ironically some people think that Mirage will be like AC1, while it will clearly be more like Unity. I guess nostalgic people have forgotten how outdated combat and parkour was in these earlier games. Unity was huge leap forward in terms of graphics, parkour and combat and that's the game Mirage takes inspiration from. Play at your own pace and only play the content that you want to complete, otherwise it can become tedious and a bit of a slog to get through.

    PROS:
    - Very good worldbuilding and sense of exploration that has been a highlight of the series since Origins
    - 9th century Norway and England are fantastic and beautiful
    - Robust combat mechanics (if a little bit more glitchy and rough than Odyssey's more fluid animations)
    - Good weapon (duel wielding) & player customisation (i.e., hairstyles, facial hair, tattoos, etc)
    - Decent story and voice acting for most important characters
    - Fun and interesting puzzles off the beaten path
    - Good RPG mechanics for upgrading character's skills (bit hard to navigate the skill tree, though)

    CONS:
    - Too much filler content (completionists will hate playing this game!)
    - Armour sets are a bit dull
    - Some character models and animations aren't as detailed as those in Origins or Odyssey (especially non-important NPCs)
    - No naval combat (if you liked the ship-to-ship battles in Odyssey, then you'll be disappointed)
    - Raiding can be fun, but a bit repetitive at times
    - Settlement upgrade system seemed a bit of a chore to me; didn't really feel invested in it (although it was nice to see how your settlement changed over time)

Best game of 2020 (before CP2077 comes out) This game is so good! I might be a little biased since im a dane but this is the best AC game since the Ezio trilogy in my opinion. A beautiful and immersive world, that makes your **** very hard from pure eyegasm. Interesting stories and charcters. Big battles that makes you feel like a war machine. Many ways to make your story, your own through customization and choices.

    Long:
    Pros
-The quest system makes the world feel immersive and lived in (kudos ubi)
-The game looks absolutely stunning even with my mid-tier 2070S (and never under 70 fps)
-Big, cool, cinematic battles that is a movie worthy
    -Many customization options
    -Interesting plots and characters
-RAVENSTHORP (your settlement and everything about it)
-It is very long which i personally like, and to me, everything feels worth doing (meaning it doesnt feel like filler like in AC:O)
-The longship and raiding is just awesome
-The skill system lets you play YOUR WAY

    Cons
-Many... MANY bugs! (still no patches a week after launch. It unfortunately took away from the immersivnes of the game)
-It takes a little to long to get a decent selection of armors and weapons (BUT, it does make you happier when you finally get there)
-More animation variation considering that you kill A LOT and it does get repetetive in a 65+ hour long game (the combat system is still great though)

There were a couple of annoyances though. Many in-game actions have no in-game indicators of what to do so I had to look them up online. Cairns were sometimes hairy due to unable to change perspective or rotate the rocks the right way. The density of fast travel points were also not that great.

Played and maxed out the base game and the two DLCs within 140 hours. I don't feel like replaying it again.

Assassins Creed is my favrotie series of all time, so im harder on this series than I am with any other game.. and while Valhalla is a great game and my score will reflect that, as an assassins creed game, assassins creed Valhalla isa complete disappointment.
Here you play as avore, becauseubisoft cares more about its precious sales you chose either man version or female version because ubisoft is afraid to commit and want to make everyone happy.. you set off on a Viking adventure to basically take over England during the dark ages.. and sadly this is more of a Viking game with assassins creed mechanics rather than an assassins creed game where you play as a Viking, the lore of the Templars and the assassins is there.. infct the whole uncovering the order side thing odyssey had going on is valhallas main focus, and I love that… however the game built around it is the most hallow money grab of a game in probably the entire assassins creed series… they sold you on Vikings, rob and pillage, this is fun about 0 times, its never fun going into an area for a raid, opening chests and collecting all of the loot, its repetive and bland, and that can be said for the entire game… im one to uncover every inch of an assassins creed game, read very document, platinum it.. but assassins creed Valhalla is so hollow that I found myself skipping through a lot of its dialog as the story is broken up into individual kingdoms you go out and help… this is less of an assassins creed game, you know.. a game where you relive memories of someone that was supposed to have actually existed to learn more about the orer and the places of the pieces of edden, and just a boring Viking game where you go from kingdom to kingdom taking care of that kingdoms individual problems, it’s a 70 hour long game of individual mini stories that by themselves could be okay experiences, but in an assassins creed game they feel like a waste of time not adding anything to the overall world of assassins creed, no one will remember Valhalla as a step forward for the series, infact in a lot fof places Valhalla steps back, for example its loot, there is next to none, yet you still collect it from time to time, its such an awkward system that you forget there are other weapons and armorus you can pick up.. youll mpost likely stick to the first or second piece of gear you find in the game and stick to that all the way through, especially thanks to the grind heavy upgrading system here that require a ridiculous amount of recourses to upgrade weapons… where Valhalla steps forward though is you making choices that actually matter, your choices have consequences, you have different paths with different characters you can go down that don’t feel empty like odyssey did.. but back to the intial point, this is great if assassins creed were an rpg seres set in different time periods… but its not, its meant to be an experience of a story already told, not an unwritten story of your grandpa and you get to chose if he banged other Vikings or not… tell me if avor was gay or not, don’t let me chose, again.. commit to a character, tell me their story… this is not a solution to the story telling critques players have.. this is assassins creed, not dragon age.. tell me the story as it happened… but this is thebiggest assins creed game to date, though bigger isn’t always better, another first, this s the first time I gave up on collecting all the things in an assassins creed game, for one,, again the world felt boring pointless and hallow, even the side quests that were supposed to be the talk of the town, except for the mini game orlog, it had its hooks in me like gwent, and I love hunting down the zealots of the land, bringing my back to the original assassins creed.. but the colelctables here, the game just makes you work too hard to get, one too many are locked behind story progress – why even put it on the map then… and evry other one ios locked behing an environment puzzle.. I don’t mind this eveyr once in a while , but map cleaning in assassins creed is a form of meditation, if I have to figure out how to get to literally every chest in the world, it isn’t meditation anymore, it’s a puzzle game outside of the story, no thanks. Also traversal here is probably the worst in the series too, its wakward, plenty pof annoying deaths at the hands of climbing, The biggest disappointment overall is this games story, the worst ending in history if you can even call it an ending and the outside of the animus world features the least likably protagonist of all time, smoking doesn’t make you look like a badass, it makes you look inconsiderate of the people around you, but again, assassins creed Valhalla is a great game, the combat is fun, you can go down different paths to play the way you prefer, brute, ranged, stealth, or a mix of all 3…

It's safe to say they managed to hit it with Valhalla. Not to the extent of Rockstar level, but still much better than any other Ubi title. There is a ton of content and variety. I'm quite impressed to see a such amount for the level of development these games partake. Do not envy the devs. Combat feels mostly right, the story is... well, okay.

Where it falters largely is the RPG system, or the lack of one. They've tried to mimic one, but there is nothing underneath. It's an illusion of choice buried by a mountain of minor customizations.

I enjoy this game quite a bit. I would enjoy it far more if it didn't crash so often... and yet will recommend.

The game is surprisingly good, an interesting plot, quests, filling of the world and interacting with it, characters, combat, crafting, equipment, exploring the world - everything has become a way better than previous games.

Medieval Europe looks much nicer than the endless sands of Origins and the Odyssey Islands.

I did enjoyed the upgrade system for the character and the weapons/armours, but at the end you get too much power ups. Building you village was fairly good but could have been more deep. I really did dislike the Yule festival, especially the drunk on load bug. What a waste of time and programming. The ending was underwhelming. Story & Writing:
The story, both in and out of the Animus makes sense again, with clear motives for all the characters involved. The writing is interesting, consice, and manages to create intrigue throughout the playtime without ever beoming absurd, like it did with Odyssey. That being said, some of the plot twists were... less than surprising. The dialogues felt natural, and the voice acting, especially that of male Eyvor was on point. Most importantly however, for the first time since AC Black Flag, Valhalla managed to make me feel connected to the characters in the game. Eyvor, as well as those around him, felt like real people, with real desires, fears, and ideologies.
The somewhat unorthodox structure of the story, being essentially split into small, unrelated chapters, that eventually tie up to the main plot, may be a turn-off for some, but for me, it helped keep the story on-point and unbloated.
Finally, it needs to be mentioned that Assassins and Templars are a thing again. Both organizations have finally reached their recognizable forms in the Animus timeline, thus helping Valhalla feel like an actual Assassin's Creed game.

    Gameplay:
The most striking thing about the gameplay in Valhalla, is that it's no longer a looter game. Instead of being drowned in loot with only incremental differences in stats, the loot is now way more rare, and therefore way more valuable.
Actual stealth has made a return, enabling you to feel like an Assassin again, with sneaking on rooftops, blending into crowds, and strategically avoiding guards being a big part of the gameplay.
Combat has been toned down to a degree, doing away with some of the trademarks of the "modern era AC" combat, like elemental effects on weapons and armor. While it may seem like a negative to some, as far as I'm concerned, it helped keep the game grounded and more realistic.
Sidequests have been essentially replaced by "mysteries", short (about 10 min long) quests that don't even get marked in the quest log. This was a huge improvement, as one of AC's major problems were the overly long and yet overly similar sidequests that 99% of the time amounted to "go there and kill X number of bad guys". This shorter format allows for more experimentation, and it doesn't feel like it's ever pulling you away from the main plot.

    Graphics:
Easily the best looking AC game so far. While some assets have indeed been re-used from Odyssey, it's not to an overwhelming degree.

    Performance:
Maintained above 60 FPS for most of the game, with very few noticable drops, however there were plenty of crashes. Valhalla actually crashed more times for me than Cyberpunk 2077 did, and that really says something.

    Overall:
I may be a bit biased since I'm a Vikings nerd, and medieval England is a setting that I've always adored, but Valhalla is an absolute gem in my eyes. A solid return to form gameplay-wise, while maintaining the good parts of Origins and Odyssey, combined with a great story, and even better presentation.

Ana hikayeleri genellikle sevdim.

    Pros:
    - Really great looking game
    - Many regions to explore
    - There are 5 big maps to also explore (Norway, Mythical Asgard and Jotunheim, Vinland, England)
    - You can either play as male or female Eivor
    - Storyline is great with some twists
    - Many side missions which are quite unique and enjoyable
    - You can upgrade your gear and your horse and even customize them
    - Raiding is quite fun
    - Many ways to approach missions
    - Soundtrack is really good
    - A really long game if you try to do everything (Over 80-100 hours)

    Neutral:
    - The ending was abrupt, but more content/DLC is on the way so that will fill the gaps hopefully.
    - The graphics can look bad sometimes, but not horrible,

    Cons:
    - Bugs (It's an Ubisoft game so it's expected)
    - On my playthrough I played as male Eivor and I heard stuff like SHE. kinda hilarious.
    - While the soundtrack is really good, it gets repetitive
    - Some missions are repetitive
    - When you raise an army for a siege, there is always like 20-30 people. I found it really funny as it just felt like a bar fight with that few people and not a proper war.

8/10 It's a great game nonetheless I really enjoyed traversing through England.

No need for hating Ubisoft for creating an open-world rpg set in Viking era, and naming it Assassin's Creed, as its original formula is not something that can be innovated on. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a surprise to me at least. After seeing the early gameplay of the game I didn't feel the game environment would have been as interesting as Origins or Odessey. However, I was wrong to assume that. The landscape in Valhalla is gorgeous and invited to explore and see. From the Old Roman buildings to the stunning Monasteries. This game is a sight to see. Now I'm not playing at max settings or 4k. I am on an ultrawide 35" 1440p monitor which is powered by my 2070 super. At very high settings I'm around 60-70 fps. At 4k and ultra settings I can only imagine the game is breathtaking. We were given a new feature in that of the settlement building. Which is a great added feature. Although it is rather simple is the process of getting only raw materials and supplies which mainly come from raiding. It lets you feel more in touch or connection emotionally with the NPCs and a place home. I hope with the future of AC games there will add some smaller touches such as being able to do your room or color the builds with either different wood types or just paint. AC JAPAN!!! Next is the storyline. The main character is good, I believe the voice acting and how the story plays favor the male this time around tho. Odessey I always felt the female role was way better. Not going to go into any spoilers but the storyline does grab you and immerses you into the world of AC Valhalla. (PLAY THE GAME) The sounds are great and even the movement of the NPCs and your own character makes the game feel alive. Other I guess feature of the game is the ability to keep any weapon and just upgrade it rather than having to keep switching out. This one I feel is not as grand as they make it seem. In Odessey, you could upgrade and keep your starting weapon. In one of my play-throughs, I only use Wolf's Sword. But back to Valhalla. This way of going about the game is ok, but I felt the armor and weapons were lacking very much so to the point of kinda boring. Yes, when upgrading they can change the appearance which is nice. With the limited amount of items, I feel the customizing for those items should have been a lot more. From color to the type of metal I would have wanted to use. This does not take away from the overall greatness that Valhalla has brought us. As for glitches and crashes, I have crashed 2 twice to the desktop with no error message or anything. It just disappeared like I never was playing. I have seen a glitch I believe when running at points as in my leg was injured and limping but I was not. Also, some sound issues when trying to blow the horn doesn't always work. After playing through and seeing the positive and negative/issues the game is without a doubt one of if not these best Assassin Creed game to date. If you have any interest in Vikings or even that time period in Europe I'm sure you will have hours of funs and enjoyment with this game. I can not wait for the DLC for Ireland and France. It could take this game to a 10/10 Expand

To start the Viking era is one of my favorite time periods in history so I was incredibly hyped for this games release. With a total of 23 hours played so far I am still getting through the story and have barely touched the side missions aka world events. This game really captures the idea of being a viking as raiding settlements for the benefit of your own is a great feature and not having to worry about picking up different equipment constantly is a nice change from odyssey.

Here's a short list of the main features I enjoy:
    -Raiding.
    -Drinking games
    -Board games
    -Feasts
    -Upgrading settlement
    -Contracts
    -Customization
    -Ship Customization
    -Relationships
    -fishing
    -Hunting
    -Disguising
    -Blending In

This game is similar but in its own way very different to AC odyssey. It has returned/improved features that Odyssey was missing such as Blending in with Priests, Benches and even drunks.
And now the total option of putting your own hood up to disguise yourself, which I think is a tiny but great addition to the game, with little details like this it really changes the game and definitely for the best. But of course with every new game it has its fair share of bugs/glitches I have encountered 2 pretty game changing Bugs, such as duplicating clothing, now usually this would not be an issue as in Odyssey you would scrap useless Armour for materials but in AC Valhalla no longer can you do this, you cannot sell Gear either, making this very annoying having the same clothing 4 times in your inventory. I have also encountered another terrible bug that causes my weapons to disappear from my inventory, now seeing how normally in Odyssey you would find many duplicates, in AC Valhalla this is also not the case as they have removed Gear drops from enemy AI meaning once my weapon is gone...its gone. Other than that I run the game on Ultra graphics without any frame rate issues or crashes. This certainly isn't the best AC game but I think its a great step in the right direction to please many different opinions within the fan base. And after a few patches that fix the bugs i mentioned i'm sure on my second run of the game it will be better than the first.

First of all, I am writing this review completely independently of AC Odyssey. Although many people say that Valhalla is very similar to Odyssey, not everyone plays this game as a serial. Maybe Valhalla could be the first AC game they played. However, I will mention the Odyssey part at the end.

The most striking feature of the game is the art design. Ubisoft has managed to create a world that looks very "beautiful", as it did in Odyssey. I say by suppressing the beautiful part because the game loses its authenticity because of this beauty. Although it is very pleasant to look around, it has an image that can upset some realists. Since I don't have such an obsession, I really enjoyed watching the surroundings. Although I like the snowy parts very much, I could not come across any snowfall in the game. Maybe it's not snowing in the game, but I hope it does. Although I think that the game has very good materials in terms of music, it is appropriate to say that these music were not used very successfully in the game. The game has a really interesting music, but this music does not play until the last mission, for example. While definitely noticing the ineffectiveness of the music in the game, it continued to be incredibly frustrating that the sounds the NPCs made had no meaning whatsoever.

In terms of gameplay, although Valhalla does not come with very innovative mechanics, it is a game that manages to play itself. There are still three classes in the game, but if you level up enough, you can join all classes. Valhalla, which is much more wild than the previous game, does not miss such animations, but after a while you see them all so much that you wish you could turn them off in the settings. The skills that make the game really fun are very limited compared to Odyssey. So you can't use it as easily as before. In addition, the game is really easy in terms of numerical values. Be sure to play the game by keeping the difficulty high. The biggest shortcomings in terms of gameplay are the endless bugs and control weirdlings that cost me 10 hours of my 70 hours of gameplay. The game really has a hard time understanding what you are trying to do on the keyboard. Considering that one of the main elements of this game is platforming, this interrupts the gameplay sequences. In addition, errors that require you to constantly load your old save may cause you to close the game at any time.

We wouldn't be wrong if we say that the only part of the game that got better after Odyssey is the story. Although I don't care about the so-called family story of Odyssey, which I can't even take seriously, it is definitely more enjoyable to manage our devoted brother Eivor, who is the 2nd king of the environment he is in, and who nevertheless works harder for his people than the 1st king and supports the 1st king on top of that. There are characters that show how close death is even to the main character, instead of the absurd characters who are resurrected just so that there is no deficiency in the family table, even though we kill like in Odyssey. Although you don't spend much time, the death of these characters definitely leaves something to you. It is also very nice to be asked to account for what you did in the game and to see what you did in the game, although it seems like it was taken from RDR2.

So why is Valhalla disliked? Because according to Odyssey, there is no real development in the game. If you've buried more than 50 hours in Odyssey, you might question why they made this game. In addition to the fighting mechanics that you did not realize have changed, the castle sieges, which turned into meaningless field battles, were just as ridiculous and you could complete the missions by simply opening the castle doors without killing anyone. In addition, the skills that make Odyssey really fun cannot be used as easily as Odyssey in Valhalla. Definitely do not play this game after Odyssey, make sure to squeeze in a few games. The biggest and most beautiful difference of Valhalla from Odyssey is that the story is more brutal and serious.

Valhalla is a really good game when evaluated independently of the game before it, but was this game really needed after Odyssey?

A more compact story and level scaling for more challenge would have gotten this game to a 9/10. Visuals are 10/10. 90 hour playthrough for me as very thorough first half then just hitting nodes near routes to story objectives. I ended up over-leveled and had to bump to hardest difficulty. If you're not feeling this game after 8 or 10 hours, I'd consider moving on to something else.

I enjoyed this game a lot with me spending 100+ hours on the campaign and still not completing the game 100% as I opted not bothering with the dream sequence storyline.
The game starts very slow and I was really worried in the beginning, but once you move to England the pace picks up. There are stuff to do, there are interesting side missions, interesting choices to make that will affect the ending and as always mixing the fantasy aspects of any AC game with real historical events is one of the great positive points of the game.
There a re only two negatives on the game in my opinion

Although the game is fictional at most and mostly presumes how it looked like and how everything happened, its mostly realistic. And unlike the other Assassin's Creed games, they didn't change much about the history, they did their research widely. I tried to find out about those times and found only limited information.

The gameplay is different from the other ones too, finishing moves, abilities and all. They did a good job (finally).

The flyting, drinking games ect. are a good breathing break from all the action. And the story is not bad at all, considering its mostly based on real history. Nice game.

I like the scenario. A good world, the gamepaly is repetitive, but you know that if you buy a Ubisoft game. So far I had a lot of fun with Valhalla...

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a great-looking open-world game with impressive landscapes and cinematography. However, the checklist collectible open-world still needs some work to feel truly engaging, and combat is too tedious and too frequent to be compelling. As a lapsed fan of Assassin's Creed trying to see if I can click with the series once again, Valhalla didn't quite hook me as I was hoping it would.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a lot of fun and easy to sink dozens of hours into. It is the best entry in the more recent trilogy and genuinely elevates the gameplay mechanics. Content could be considered somewhat bloated still, but it is diverse enough and the setting and story is solid most of the way through.

Sneaking is fun, fighting is fun, walking through the great outdoors is so much fun. Sightseeing too! Valhalla is free minded and could be innovative, but lacks skills to persuade its players about that. [Issue#308]
