Better graphics than Elden Ring, that's for sure. Overall this game surprised me, it's not best AC game, but it has more to offer than Odyssey or Origins. Story is not most interesting thing in this game, but open world and exploration makes this game solid. I still wish they would go back to Black Flag/Unity era tho.

To say that they make same game every time is biggest nonsense possible. That's something that could be said for Doom or literally every souls game (different location and same idea, you just kill one boss after another and that's about million times more braindead game design than Assassin's Creed could ever be). I'm not even sure what these haters want this series to be, because to me it feels like, they don't care about it anyway. This "SaMe GaMe" argument could be said about every fighting game, forza horizon series (okay actually every racing game ever), Tomb Raider series and so on. I could give countless examples.

Assassin's Creed is at least interesting in a way that you can roam around in these ancient locations and time periods, to me that's cool. If you don't care about history and just want some mindless sht, then don't play these games. It's that simple. Of course not everything in these games is 100% historically accurate and that's completely fine. It's historical-fiction. Just like Red Dead redemption 2 is not 100% Historically accurate. Rockstar even said that 100% accurate game would make for just boring and depressing experience and i absolutely agree with that. Overall, Valhalla is very solid Assassin's Creed game.

This is Assassin's Creed game, just like Black Flag is Assassin's Creed game. Just cause you have more things to explore, more activities, more enemies than AC 1, doesn't mean it's not Assassin's Creed. Literally same could be said about GTA. Yes it is! Deal with it!

Now it's solid open-world AC game, but sadly it's not better than Black Flag. I just wish story/mission design was more interesting or unique. Black Flag had all kinds of unique mission designs and also story was better. In Valhalla missions aren't that interesting, but there's still many fun ones. But true star of Valhalla is it's open world and freedom to do whatever you feel like. That's what was missing from AC 1 for me, because these games can simply be so much more than just generic assassination games. AC is not and should not be Hitman. AC should be ALWAYS compared to games like GTA or Red Dead Redemption. You can do so much more in these games than just the basic story stuff and that same logic should apply to AC and most people seem to understand that. It seems to be minority who complains that AC is not so linear anymore. Most people seem to like that freedom and more activities. This open world is there for a reason! Might as well fill that open world with content and that's what Ubisoft did in both Black Flag and Valhalla, even Unity and Syndicate. That is the right direction.

Like what did some of these people expect from Valhalla? To go back to Assassin's Creed Revelations? Are you kidding me? They would NEVER do that. Never. Most people (all the gamers who never cared about Ezio) started to care about AC when 4th one came out. That huge map, pirate theme and 1715 era was actually interesting. I love how none of these Valhalla haters never mention Black Flag, because it would automatically destroy every argument they possible could have. They know that people like Black Flag. Odyssey was a joke and everyone knows that. Valhalla was step in right direction and that direction was never going to be going back to anything that happened before Black Flag. Assassin's Creed is important and popular because of three games, these are - Black Flag (best map and main character), Unity - (best graphics and parkour) and Origins (it was different from previous ones). So yeah, these are the three options Ubisoft has. They will never go back to AC 1 style and you guys know why? Because it wouldn't sell even half that Valhalla did, that's why. AC 1 is outdated and boring and it never that good anyway, so it's literally time to move on. It is very likely they go back to something like Unity / Syndicate, while having some Black Flag elements like you can still have a boat or something. That would be perfect balance, but to go back to AC 1? Never, absolutely never. Expand

Thanks to that exploring in Odyssey was awful, because high level enemies killed you everywhere unless you were high level yourself. That doesn't happen in Valhalla, in Valhalla you can assasinate anyone with one hit and thanks to that explore the whole world without worry of getting killed. Also, i like that Valhalla has better music and more serious tone than Odyssey, Odyssey was too light-hearted and not in a Syndicate way (Syndicate was perfect mix of serious and lighthearted), but Odyssey does it in cringe way. Odyssey has zero parkour (Valhalla has way more, in comparison at least). Over half of AC 3 map was just forests. There have been so many different kind of locations in AC series over past 10 years, yet some people are acting like Valhalla is first Assassin's Creed ever to have huge map, or have forest areas or whatever else these haters will find issue with.

Truth is Valhalla does parkour better than both Odyssey and Origins. Has better combination of huge forests and Cities, than AC 3. New York was absolutely pathetic in AC 3, in Valhalla you can climb and parkour way more in London + forest areas/mountains are so much better and have more variation than AC 3. Valhalla does so many similar things, that previous games have done and many of them better than last few games, yet somehow now this series is dying? Get out of here with that nonsense. I shouldn't even mention that it's selling better than Origins or Odyssey, but i will, will mention that just to make these haters even angrier.

But what it is- big beautiful open world, good graphics, very good voice acting (from male main character, female was meh), historical locations and so on. So yea i don't get the whining, because Ubisoft wont make anything better anyway anymore. This is the last one. Next one (if it ever comes out) will be possibly some live service nonsense, basically mobile game. Expand

But i guess that just shows how stupid some gamers truly are. But i can easily point out games that are actually botted on this site, for example anyone who thinks that all these last of us 2 reviews are legit, is a fool. Also Cyberpunk 2077 reviews are fakest thing i have ever seen. There are other examples as well, like Sony exclusives that usually get during the first 2 days massive amount (thousands) of extremely positive reviews, full of insanely bad grammar and nonsensical sentences. Sorry for the rant, just wanted to give my personal take about these "bots". But this game is nice imo. Parkour finally requires a bit of thought. Basically this game is what Odyssey failed to be and Origins tried to be. I like that they got rid of leveling system that was in Odyssey, even though I liked it, but constant gear upgrades were obnoxious. Instead we have a huge skill tree, that looks a bit like POE thing. It is great, but I don't know why did they hide the future nods, I mean, you level up skills and nods blindly not knowing what is next... you can always respec anytime you want, but just why? Anyway it is not a big deal - you can always look up skill tree on the Internet.

Game performance and optimization is average. They removed some options from graphic settings, that were in Odyssey, that were important to lower for me, so I had some FPS drops here and there. Also, Odyssey ran on directx11 better for me than dx12.

That being said, it is still one of the best games I ever played.

Make no mistake, Valhalla is a worthy successor to its distinguished predecessors: it has adventure, fun, and all the freedom one could wish. It generally runs well, though I have had a few mysterious crashes.

The biggest problem is the load time: I start the game several times a day (because I don't like to leave stuff idling in the background, especially stuff that's connecting my system to the Internet). Each start takes 2'30"... unless it crashes, in which case it's 5'. That's five minutes of staring at screen after screen of logos, boilerplate warnings, advice, and other nonsense. Yes, I get the reason to expose naive users to this stuff, but not every time! The previous games allowed me to Esc or "hit any key" to fast-forward. This one, no. It's a wretched imposition on the user's time and deserves censure by all players.

    4. Сеттинг (9-век показан здорово и правдоподобно, но не более, с исторической реальностью имеет мало общего и является больше псевдоисторичным. И тем не менее, сделано так, что хочется верить).

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the third game in what I like to call the “Ancient” trilogy, because it really makes sense, after Origins and Odyssey.

The core aspects and mechanics from the previous games are here, some stuff has been changed though, like the “RPG’ish” loot system from the previous games now it’s a more concise system where each weapon, piece of armor, shield, etc. now has a bit more of “personality”, as in we’re not showered by loot all the time now, as we used to before.

This has been paired with yet another upgrade system, where we can bring most items that we like using, because we like their stats, or their visual art or design, to higher tiers of quality, by using the materials like minerals and ingots we loot from chests and other places around the world. Most items will also change in appearance as they go from “bronze” tier, the basic one, to “silver” and finally “gold”, note that the actual names are different but I’m just using these as the color of the item box is actually these.

Furthermore, for gear pieces we can wear, we can find lots of sets, of five pieces, that provide a two piece and also a five piece, complete, set bonus. You can mix and match if you like, but of course there are obvious limitations, if you want a five piece bonus set, you want to find that complete set. Worry not, as finding these isn’t hard at all, each item description from the set tells us where to find all the pieces (just the region, though), it’s just a matter of wanting to explore the world and, trust me, you’ll want to explore the beautiful world in this game, it looks really amazing.

When it comes to combat, it feels a bit more meaty and vicious than previous games, the violence levels have clearly been increased, to reflect that we are, in fact, Vikings. It looks nice, some finishers are really flashy, but sometimes the combat itself can feel a bit slow and not as polished as it could have been, but not terrible. If you enjoyed the combat in the previous two games, you’ll enjoy this one, but I would say that Odyssey had slightly better combat, and in Valhalla it’s a bit more leaning towards Origins, but also not quite the same.

When it comes to PC performance, on my Ryzen 5 3600 and GTX 1070, the game runs slightly worse than Odyssey, but it looks quite good, even better I’d say, with lots of beautiful vistas, vegetation, and the view distance is not bad at all, it’s very similar in this regard to the previous games, you can see important landmarks from basically anywhere in the region you’re in and, of course, travel to them if you wish.

Running at Ultra settings, 1080p, no resolution scaling, the benchmark provides around 49-50 FPS as of Title Update 1.0.4; it has gotten a bit better/smoother with this patch, and possibly more patches coming soon, could improve things even more. We don’t need to play at Ultra though, especially not on a four year old GPU, so dropping some settings to Very High or High improves things around 10%, and with the Adaptive Quality set to target 60 FPS, the can sustain 60 FPS quite often, only dropping in heavy situations like monastery raids, but not by much. Paired with a g-sync screen, it’s not as bad , but certainly the game is more GPU demanding than the previous ones, for sure, so keep that in mind.

And when it comes to the story, we get quite the surprises and exotic places to visit that, if you know your Viking Mythology, you’ll surely enjoy as much as I did. The real world storyline continues where it left, more or less, and we also get some huge plot twists and developments there, setting up the future of the series, of course.

Secondary activities have been changed a bit, and some of them look like very short stories, quite easy and fast to complete, some have a lot of heart and fun interactions, but others feel like some random mmo quest or event, it was a mixed bag there, a little bit. I can see Ubisoft trying to improve on their writing for these activities, sure, they’re still not there yet, but it seems they’re at least on the right path, and there’s a lot of lore that this game touches, from the whole franchise, which gives me a lot of hope and kind of exciting for future games too.

All in all, AC Valhalla is not a perfect game, but after 150 hours and having completed all the challenges, except the fishing one (I’m taking my time, chilling, come on, I earnt it :P), and the one to avenge other players’ deaths, which seems completely bugged on PC, due to servers/connection shenanigans (possibly to do with the switch to Uplay Connect recently)….well I can say that I had a decent time. The game is long, especially if, like me, you’re a completionist, but that’s how it is in these cases.

I feel Ubisoft is coming back to the decent story telling for the series, the writers did a good job here, and I'm excited for where it goes next.

One thing, they should get rid of all this "assassins creed" staff and make totally separate franchise.

Combat mechanics are very nice, every weapon is different and has its own movement, also the finishing moves are great, too. Exploration is wonderful, every time you encounter them, it's always different and not just some kill and fetch quests, and that's what makes this world of Saxon England feels alive.

The things that I don't like is Asgard, it's an isu world, so we should have Isu powers, just like in Odyssey, and the Asgard story is just boring. Castle sieges are also buggy, some enemy soldiers will only doing taunting, or attack nothing. I think wars mechanics in Odyssey is better than sieges in this game. And of course, there are also some bugs, like crashing, character stuck, etc.

I was expecting a slight improvement compared to Odyssey, we know what its flaws were, but the game surprised me, it exceeded my expectations, I find it interesting how they changed the gameplay of the character, I expected the same feeling when handling it as in Odyssey, but it feels heavier, more organic, looking a little more like Red Dead Redemption 2, it took me a bit to adapt butI was expecting a slight improvement compared to Odyssey, we know what its flaws were, but the game surprised me, it exceeded my expectations, I find it interesting how they changed the gameplay of the character, I expected the same feeling when handling it as in Odyssey, but it feels heavier, more organic, looking a little more like Red Dead Redemption 2, it took me a bit to adapt but after a while I ended up liking it, regarding the fights I also expected something very similar, and although visually it is very similar, when playing it it feels more real, it was a good improvement, on the other hand I like graphically although I do not feel it has improved much compared to the Odyssey, although I am surprised by the optimization, I can rarely play with the highest quality in AAA games and in this case I could , and it runs perfectly. Regarding the audio, I like it, it adds a lot to the atmosphere. In conclusion I give it a 9 because they are improving it but still does not have the quality of Red Dead Redemption 2, but I think they are on the right track. Expand

My favorite Assassin's creed next to Black Flag. I enjoy the story and having less modern time stuff. I enjoyed the characters and how the gear system works. Quest variety is so much better. Also the game looks great. Plus I love the time period SKOL.

Much better than I expected, it's better than Odyssey that's for sure. Origins was really good though, but this might actually be better too, in some ways.

Fantastic game, really detailed, nice graphics, combat polished to the max, however I don't really like viking mythology so I deducted 1 point.+ dlcs are not so good

This New AC world was great and detailed and this story was incredible, the upgrading and combat system was good. ~100 hours well spent. Although it was a bit buggy, but not game breaking.

The combination of old school Assassin's Creed vibes and lightweight RPG mechanics does work for me, although I can see why some people are offended by this.
Exploring is much less stressful compared to previous entries thanks to a clever introduction of a less bulky bucket list. POIs pop up when you are close to them.

The sheer amount of bugs is holding back its potential, so maybe wait a few weeks until most of them are fixed.

I was playing it today for like 7-8 hours and i was thinking what would be this one word to describe this game -how about, incredible. I'm literally blown away in so many aspects of this wonderfully designed epic. Odyssey and Origins can't even get close to what this on did.
Even fact alone that you don't need to grind anymore, at all, makes it just superb, but that's just one thing out

I would start with graphics, could be one of the best i have ever seen in video games, Red Dead 2 blew me away and this one managed to do same. Let's be clear, Odyssey story sucked, Valhalla has actually good writing, good voice acting and it's actually interesting. I have heard some complain about combat, i personally like it. I don't think there's anything really wrong with it, but that's just my opinion.

Ac Valhalla has insane amount of variety among different locations, more than any prior AC game could ever dream of. Even tho Norway is snowy/ice area i like it equally to England. Depends on my mood, if i wanna hang out in one area or another. Story (so far) is really good, so, so, so much better than Odyssey. Voice acting is great. Graphics are mind blowing. Nothing game-breaking, just some bugs can happen, but not like all the time, it's rare to encounter them. Bugs are kinda expected from open world game of that scale. For example this launch is way, way smoother than RDR2 PC launch, not even comparable and i deeply love RDR2, just saying. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The graphics are really beautiful. At the same time, the theme is very well fitted. I feel like I'm a Viking. the length of the game is also just fine. but the artificial intelligence in the game seemed a little bad. I don't know I found a little bad. I think there are no other minuses and it deserves this score. Expand

A AC that is going more and more in the direction of a CD Projekt Red game. Is it bad? Certainly not. Can you call it an AC? Maybe. This AC brings in the best things of old AC games and new AC games. All the annoying stuff of Origins and Odyssey like level grinding and overstuffed inventories is gone. You get a long story line with unique characters and quests with strong design. You getA AC that is going more and more in the direction of a CD Projekt Red game. Is it bad? Certainly not. Great game to spend time in November until Cyberpunk comes in December. Valhalla is graphically amazing. I have heard some people don't like combat that much, i personally like it, not sure what's the problem. Overall very good AC game, might be Ubisoft's best open world ever.

Finished only around 21% of the game in 16 hours. This game is massive and picturesque. Every region in the game differs from another with changes in climate, mountains, flora & fauna. The story in itself is more mature this time around and has a humanized touch lacking in earlier AC games Love this game , hoping to complete the campaign in the next few weeks!

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a great-looking open-world game with impressive landscapes and cinematography. However, the checklist collectible open-world still needs some work to feel truly engaging, and combat is too tedious and too frequent to be compelling. As a lapsed fan of Assassin's Creed trying to see if I can click with the series once again, Valhalla didn't quite hook me as I was hoping it would.

Assassins Creed Valhalla is a lot of fun and easy to sink dozens of hours into. It is the best entry in the more recent trilogy and genuinely elevates the gameplay mechanics. Content could be considered somewhat bloated still, but it is diverse enough and the setting and story is solid most of the way through.

Sneaking is fun, fighting is fun, walking through the great outdoors is so much fun. Sightseeing too! Valhalla is free minded and could be innovative, but lacks skills to persuade its players about that. [Issue#308]
