    Don't have at least a i5-2500K + GTX 680?

My system met the recommended spec (i5 + 970) and on max. settings (with TXAA) with decent framerates, ACU looks fantastic! The huge open world with thousands of unique and interactive AI NPC, is just so next-gen! This is by far the most authentic, living, breathing world I've seen in games. Everything just look so pretty! Thus, I'm not surprised the consoles can't keep up. Gameplay wise, I enjoyed the tactical stealth aspect of each assassination. It has a nostalgic look, reminiscent of the old Ghost Recon series. :) Other than the nonsensical storyline (& the sad ending), ACU is a eye-watering technical showpiece. Experience it!

Cons: Steep technical requirements at the time of this review. There is some innovation here, but there's also a lot of familiar territory -- if you bought an Assassin's Creed game and weren't expecting carry over of familiar gameplay, you bought the wrong game.

Note: At the time of this review, the technical requirements to run this game are steep. It appears to be purring along on a GTX 970, but having loaded it up on my prior HD 6950 card for comparison it brought the card to its knees -- If you aren't rocking current gen hardware, or planning on turning down the eye candy, I'd recommend you wait to check to see if patching will improve PC optimization.

Bottom line: Smoke 'em if you've got 'em.

AD:Unity is a return to the franchise roots and an improvement in almost all areas. Paris is stunning with sharp, beautiful graphics and art design. Missions area mix of old a new with a renewed focus on what the franchise is about: Assassinations.

Sometime when you play this game, you can feel the brilliance of design, work put into it by hundreds of people around the globe over 4 years of development.

Too bad that all this work is undermined by corporate greed and impossible deadline. More than Watch dogs, this game would've benefited greatly from having a 3-6 month delay. There are no game-breaking bugs, but glitches are abound with people reporting falling through the map, obnoxious pop-in and other issues.

The PC optimisation, though it surprisingly good. This game is meant for next-gen, therefore people not being able to run in on older graphics cards with less than 2Gb of RAM should've expected trouble. This is a reality check for those people who thought their PC was as good as a new-gen console: in most cases it is not. The shared VRAM in consoles is something the PCs will never get and if your card and system memory do not have at least 4Gb each dedicated to gaming, there is nothing the optimisation can do.

So all that's left is a good PC port of a great game, unfortunately riddled with minor glitches which make the experience less enjoyable as it could've been. It is a solid 8/10 and considering the lack of truly bold visionary games this year, it is a contender for Game of the Year.

If you have a decent configuration, you should try this game on PC. It is a return to form for the series from the conceptual point of view and unlike, for example, Rome 2 Total war which had both technical and gameplay issues, here we're talking about a truly next-gen experience, well thought out and polished, with bugs, most of which will not live for a month.

(This game is not 10/10, but I will give this score to offset just a little bit the amount of hate going on. )

Best lagg simulator since watch_dogs. You'll be lucky to reach 60 fps on ultra high graphics, maybe even thirty. On high without AA I'm lucky to get 15 in some places. GJ ubisoft, your lagg simulators keep improving.

Does Unity have some bugs? Yes, but they aren't nearly as bad as some of these people would lead you to believe. They are the sort of harmless bugs I see in most complex open world games.

All I know is that Unity runs very well on my PC considering how amazing it looks. And I am enjoying the game immensely. The story is the best yet in the series, in my opinion. I'm drawn in and legitimately want to know what happens next. It doesn't hurt that the cutscenes are so gobsmackingly beautiful.

The gameplay is also the best in the series for me. The combat is harder and requires more skill and focus. I've actually died quite a few times in this game, which generally doesn't happen much to me in other AC games.

The traversal is generally much smoother and more refined this time. The animations are incredibly detailed and varied and there is a greater sense of freedom of movement. Sometimes when using the controlled descent mechanics your character will kind of float unnaturally sideways as he is descending, but that is the only niggle I have with the new mechanics. Being able to climb up, over and around things so fluidly makes me feel like spiderman. I also like the fact that you can now enter so many buildings and use them as pathways while traversing through the city.

Stealth has been improved dramatically. Finally we can crouch and take cover behind objects, which opens up all kinds of neat gameplay scenarios in the game. It's finally a proper stealth game. There is also a "last known position" mechanic, similar to that found in the recent Splinter Cell games, and it works well and allows you to use it to your advantage to attract and slip away from enemies.

The mission structure is a lot better and more flexible than in previous entries. You are given a certain mission, but it can dynamically change this time. You aren't stuck completing it only one predefined way. There is also a much greater variety of different side missions you can tackle in the game. It all makes the game so addictive.

As far as the visuals, all I can say is 'wow'. I can say without any hesitation nor hint of exaggeration that this is the best looking game I have played on PC. The lighting, shading and materials all look stunning. It's filled with detailed textures, volumetric smoke and fog, extremely detailed character models, the most realistic hair I've seen in a game, lots of neat shader work, and a host of advanced post effects.

So far it is easily the best game in the series for me and one of the best games I've played this year.

Well it seems to be the TXAA and the MSAA that really hits performance I have FXAA enabled and after trying them all I honestly cannot tell any difference between any of them. I have everything set to Ultra and as long as I use the FXAA I get a steady 40fps. Im using a GTX680 and and I5 3550k. As for the game I think it's the best AC to date.

I do feel bad for all the users who gave the game a zero cause they dont have the hardware required to enjoy the game. People who say the game was rushed and not finished are incorrect. The game is just graphically beyond current hardware. You can qq about ubisoft not optimsing the game but the fact is the graphics are beyond anything elsecto date.

The music is perfect, the story is decent but not epic by any means. Combat system can be frustrating at times but fun when you get the hang of the system. I would love to see ubisoft get the gameplay that shadow of mordor had to offer.

In closing just want to say that if you dont have a power pc your better off trying it out on xboxone or ps4.

There are few glitches (like TXAA which looks worse than FXAA) but it's nothing that couldn't be fixed with a patch.

I started this game not long after a trip to Paris and wow, this game recreated Paris so well that I could even compare in-game scenes with pictures I took in the trip.

I have been a fan of the franchise since brotherhood. Black Flag was so much fun that I initially wanted to purchase this game as soon as it was released. No matter the developer, all games contain many bugs upon release. This should be clear to most gamers and therefore I think it's uncalled for to complain about these things and give the game a 0 solely because it has many bugs... especially when it comes to a game with such an incredibly big and detailed world. I almost put off buying it because of all the negative reviews and the general hate towards ubisoft. I'm glad I bought it to see what it really is for myself.

In my opinion, it's nothing short of a masterpiece. The world and the graphics are truly breathtaking. I can happily say it's the prettiest game I've played so far. The story and the characters are also well thought-out in comparison to AC: Black Flag, which for me had nothing to do with the AC series and I believe it to be the worst game in the franchise. The kiddies loved it though, so maybe I'm just getting old and enjoy in-depth games.
To the people who complain about it being too hard - have you even played the first AC game? If you think the Unity combat system is complicated and hard to master, please be my guest and grab Altair's AC. I for one, gladly welcomed the changes because I'm sick of the brainless one-button mashing which I saw in AC 3 snd AC IV...
The parkour elements have also been changed for the better, making it essier to navigate Arno.

Customization has been brought to a whole new level. One can spend quite some time 'pimping' the looks of his/her hero to their liking.

Paris is simply put massive. It's a virtual world bustling with life, having thousands of NPCs going about their daily life. It took me one hour to get to my mission which was 300 meters away because I got caught up in the side activities... which are hundreds and I find happen to be very fun!

Coop is truly epic playing with friends. All the missions have replay value because there are many different ways to approach them. Infiltrating buildings can also be done in a variety of ways and nevef gets boring.

All in all, an amazing game. It's unfair that people are bashing it because it's 'poorly optimized'. I simply cannot agree with us. Yes, the game does need a high-end gaming rig but all this info was posted multiple times not only online but on the back of the game case. I can't understand how people think they can run next-gen titles on their 5 year old computer when nowadays even having a computer from 2011 is considered outdated. If you don't meet the system requirements then don't get these games or invest in a console. I can play AC:Unity with no major fps drops at Ultra High Settings, HBAO+, soft shadows and MSAA-2 anti aliasing on my R9 280X.

If you have the rig for it and like the original AC games (I don't consider AC IV a part of the franchise but more of a disney Pirates of the Carribean game) go for it and give this game a shot. I for one wasn't disappointed but very pleasantly surprised even with all the horrible reviews.

This was clearly developed for gamepad and no energy was spent for mouse+keyboard adoption. You really need 60fps, on locked 30fps (like on consoles) your mouse lags massively! Missions can get on your nerves at times, but the worst thing is you have no checkpoints at some harder stealth missions (read on for this):

On older titles you tried many times to see what you can do better or where your mistakes cost you the most. And it was fun at least. This? No mistakes or you never finish your mission. Just stupid. This is the first game in more than 20 years to actually fry my nerves and wanting a button to just skip a mission for a later time! Not because it's hard in a good way, but because it sucked the fun out of me. In the end I just finished the main story on easy as quickly as possible and deleted the game.

I will say that at first, hearing the unbelievable outpouring of hatred towards this game made me very wary of purchasing it. However a whole YEAR has almost passed since this game came out and I can say that many, (if not all) of the review-crushing bugs HAVE BEEN FIXED. I have been playing this game for over 20 hours and have not encountered freezing, framerate or other game-crashing bugs throughout my play experience. Although it does require a powerful computer to run on the Ultra High settings, (My ATI Raedon 5970 can only run it on low) they game still looks AMAZING even on the lower graphics settings.

The story is what you'd expect for an Assassin's Creed game, but the wealth of side missions, the improved Co-Op experience (That randomizes enemies and objectives each time) and the 1:1 representation of Paris more than make up for any shortcomings in content or story length. In fact, I'm surprised more people didn't react positively to the return of consumables instead of the CoD-esque regenerating health of AC III, as well as the focus of the development team for setting the game in a single city instead of several less thought-out ones.

I'm not excusing Ubisoft for releasing a buggy product at launch, that is unacceptable. I am however, merely stating that behind the bugs that plagued the game's launch lied a very well-crafted, ambitious, cinematic and memorable Assassin's Creed experience. I actually FELT like I was in Revolutionary France, the random crowd events feel truly organic, and the cinematic missions and character customization easily ratched-up the replayability of the game. In fact, the character customization easily became one of my favorite aspects of the game, and had me actually wanting to complete side missions in order to unlock unique rewards for my character. I actually felt like I was getting stronger as the game progressed, and not overpowered like in previous Creed titles, most likely due to the harder combat and AI. What's even cooler is the return of "renovating" buildings as in AC II and Brotherhood, producing income that would occasionally remind me I had to pick up (Which I always forgot to). "Renovating" my first social club had me remembering my old playtime in Brotherhood, helping the citizens of Roma, this time in Paris. The little cinematic touches also add a certain flair to this games story, considering how in certain missions you're transported to Paris in the 1880's with floating hot air balloons, underground subway systems and the Eiffel Tower filling in the games background. (Perhaps this was a tease at Syndicate?)

Ultimently, this game has been reviewed more on its day one issues rather than on the game itself, and while many say that the developers didn't care about releasing a buggy product, perhaps the knowledge that they stretched the release of the game back two weeks can show how they wanted to release a FIXED product upon launch, and they actually had the audacity to disappoint their superiors in order to fix many other bugs I'm sure we were spared the expense of encountering.

The nostalgia, the hidden references to previous Creed titles as well as the respect this game shows to previous systems (Such as health potions and consumables, as well as your own customizable house) helps to show the care the developers took into creating this highly original and refreshing game in the Assassin's Creed universe. This game has everything and more than I expected from it, and I can affirmatively say that I'm pleasantly surprised at its complexity, a good feeling that is lacking in so many AAA games nowadays. For in 5 to 10 years from now, no one is going to care about how buggy the game was at launch, but how fun the game is to play in the future. Besides! By then, everyone will be complaining about Black Ops 16 or Evolve 12. With the Dead King's DLC thrown in for free on top of the game's basic bundle, as well as the games charismatic (And much improved) protagonist from AC III's Connor Kenway, this game is easily one of the best Assassin's Creed games of all times and a must buy for all fans of the Assassin's Creed universe.

Good game. The best game in the series. There are some problems with optimization and bugs, but it's fine.

Игра на данный момент прекрасна, я не понимаю почему оценка от пользователей так занижен.

Well at least it's better than ACIII. [Issue#257, p.66]

Newfound openness of Assassin’s Creed demonstrates just how inadequate its AI really is for a stealth game: pampered nobility usually simply ignores a bloodied body on the dance floor, and guards don’t care much either. At least they’ve learned how to fight: unless you “cheat” with smoke bombs, it’s highly unlikely you’ll survive a melee against a group. [Jan 2015, p.62]

As I write this, Assassin’s Creed: Unity is a bugfest, but technical problems, however annoying, can and probably will be fixed. It is not cracks in textures that it is the most worrying thing about Unity, but the cracks in game design and writing.
