I'm basically just giving this a 10 to help out the low scores. Just because it slows down from DRM doesn't make the game 0. C'mon. I get the issue but a 0? That's silly. I see a "2" because the optimization wasn't good enough. Again, I get it. A 2 though? Nerds just wanting to complain about anything and taking the opportunity to show their "intelligence". Grow up. I have a friend (in real life) that I try to avoid these days. I noticed his PUBG review about how much he hated it anymore. EVERYTIME I log on to Steam he's playing it. These are the type of people I'm talking about. AND this game DOES compare to The Witcher 3. Stop being a nerd and admit it. This is the first Assassin's Creed I've played more than 15 hours on, BTW. LOL @ the 4.7 user score from salty spammers with one review on their baloney accounts and eerily similar writing styles and complaints... (it's why metacritic users scores are so ignored by people). This is clearly a good game. Goodness... And claiming this in an Origins DLC makes me believe you've played neither. Just wow/LOL

Bugs do exist, but are not game-breaking. Micro transactions exist as well (which is sad for a single player game) to speed up progression, but that's not a problem for me. If you don't wanna buy, don't buy, go grind and have fun.

Game needs some optimization though, since its performance is not good and not stable., and the presets are just bad. Not a huge problem for me, since i game with an: Intel i7-4790 + GTX 1070 Gaming X 8G (MSI), averaging 56 fps, at 1440p, with custom settings in a combination of Ultra High + Very High + High. Super playable.

Finally, "exploration mode" instead of "guided mode" is a must, makes the whole adventure much more realistic and fun. Give it a try, you will never go back to guided mode. Definitely a recommended game to buy.

Last true hope of the Assassin's Creed franchise.
Sure optimizations was rushed and felt abandoned for the pc port but the game is SO MUCH FUN.
The graphics look good, the environment feels alive and the era of ancient Greece during the 2nd Peloponnesian war looks HIGHLY interesting.

Love this game so far. Good work guys. Haven't enjoyed an AC title since Black Flag. Tremendous work.

When this game was released and I've played about 15hours I posted review and said that this game is worth buying. I was sooooo dumb, sooooo damn wrong.

This ♥♥♥♥ing game is complete and total disaster. There is NOTHING GOOD about it apart graphics. Boring, empty, dead map, sh*t story, terrible combat system (dodging feels like your character is skiing all the time), horrible voice acting (that accent....oh my god.....it makes me want to rip my ears off, that's how horrible voice acting in this game is) and story line that is worth sh*t.

Bear in mind, that everything I've said above was said in polite version. So, I hope you can understand now how bad, how terrible this "game" is.

And before fanboys-kids incoming - let me mention few simple points, so you could visualize the image of what REAL game you are buying. Few simple things:

Imagine - you're getting new quest and you have to go in some unexplored spot, so you travel around 300-800 meters to that point (by foot or with horse), through empty, dead map (with only few bigger cities), or by sea with ship around 4000-6000 meters, by holding ONLY ONE KEY - "W" (of course sometimes pressing "A" and "D" to avoid obstacles). So when you get to that new points, you go and talk with new NPC (listening that terrible BS voice acting), then going in some other spot, killing few enemies (with terrible skiing-dodging or ultra-unrealistic counter combat system), gather some loot, watch few cutscenes, that's it, quest completed. Of course at some point you can't do anymore quests because your lvl is too low, so you gotta go grind for hours, and hours, and hours, and hours (trust me, I mean that), you will be forced to do boring side missions ("go to point A - kill bandits, pick some loot, return to NPC, missions completed" that kind of BS quest system), to level up and continue with main story.

And you will be doing this over and over again till you get bored. And also remember that 80 percent of the time while playing this game you only will be traveling from point A to point B, by holding only one key like I mentioned before "W".

So tell me, how normal, rationally thinking people can find this "game" fun and entertaining?...

    This is beyond my understanding....

This game is definetely not worth buying, it is worth sh*t. ♥♥♥♥ you ubisoft again for some ♥♥♥♥ed up product you brought for us, proper gamers.

AC is dead forever now, all that's left from it is ubisoft's greed, cash-grabbing, worthless piece of junk, without any immersion.

Game works perfectly fine on my i5-2500 GTX970 PC. To be honest it's not really an AC game, it's just an rpg in Ancient Greece setting, but it's so cool and immersive (yes!). Firstly, I would like to start with that I'm a big fan of Assassin's Creed series. And I just love the main concept of DNA memory reading and strict narration based on reconstruction of ancestor's memories. Though this concept is totally missing in latest AC game. You can choose gender of your ancestor (what?). And then Ubi's narrative designer says: "we wanted gender equality and we found a way to do this while keeping game authentic". Really? She also said that she haven't played AC games at the moment when she applied to Ubi. How can a person claim that game is canonic if she is not even a player of previous parts. All she knows that previous chatacters were white males and she decided to change this, because it wasn't tolerant. As a result we have this parody. It is not sci fi anymore. Game is filled with some kind of Hogwarts magic with mythical creatures and all that... Stealth means nothing in this game. It is what remained from old mechanics, but this game is all about combat, while previous parts were about hiding in shadows. You can shoot through the walls, can move through time and space, can jump from any height without dying and all this thanks to artifact. Artifact that just controls minds, somehow helps you to not die after falling from a 100 meters rock. Your constant ability to choose is against all the canons. How it can be best AC game if it isn't even an AC game. Some slasher RPG, that's what. Another stuff is more technical. This game has awful movement animations, with various glitches. And even more awful facial animations. That is not what I expected from a AAA studio with huge portfolio of great games. Where are the people who cared more about gameplay and about story, than about liberal changes? And Ubi are like: "now you can be gay if you want!". Priorities. Story itself sucks. It is really boring. You just running from one character to another, asking everybody about your mom and they give you simple quests, which just take your time. Grinding is at new level. They replaced chest icons with question marks and you should feel like some explorer. And what I didn't expect, when I bought Ultimate edition, is that this edition is not complete. They still made paid outfits for real money. They are not included in the best edition!? When I spend money on super extra hyper full edition, I expect it to be really full. Greedysoft felt to EA level. Asking money for skins? What is wrong with you, guys? Remember AC Black Flag where you get everything in Gold Edition to feel like you own whole game? What happened to this. We agreed with your policy to cut game on DLCs, but paying even more after buying biggest edition is not okay.

It's also gorgeous to look at it. If you like eye candy, this is the game for you. Odyssey follows the trend these days to create a huge world and mash up many different gameplay elements into a single title. The Tomb Raider reboot did this, abandoning the mission-based format of the original series for a Far Cry-style open world combined with Uncharted-style gameplay. A lot of players don't like this, and I can understand this. Many still prefer a more classical approach to games that are more linear and focused. The Bioshock games do this, as well as Dishonored. And they do it for the most part extremely well. Likewise, a lot of players want a return of this series to the early Assassin's Creed games and not the direction that Origins and Odyssey have taken. It's a legitimate argument. I am rating this game like a standalone game, without any reference to early AC games. As a standalone game, I think it's great. It's not Witcher 3, to which it is often compared. I also played as Kassandra, and many have said that Kassandra makes for the better play-through than Alexios. I never felt like I was grinding in this game, which is a common complaint. To me, grinding is when all you do is run around killing things to make xp and get better gear. It's pretty much all you do in WoW, for example. I never did this in Odyssey. Yes, there are a lot of pointless fetch quests but you can skip them and still get levels doing other things. And there are a lot of hidden gems, quest chains with engaging stories in addition to the main story. Odyssey isn't a classic, but I give it a high score because of the fun factor, between the solid fight mechanics, the skill tree, ancient Greece history and lore, entertaining ship battles, the mercenary system, and a pretty interesting and well-voice acted lead character (again, I didn't play as Alexios but from what I saw of him in my game and on You Tube videos, he's not as good). There are a lot of reported bugs, but the game ran fine for me. For a game this size, you can always expect bugs until they get some major patches out. Overall I enjoyed this one a lot as both an action game and an rpg. Expand

Great world, nice story, good graphic, nice rpg elements.
But not a "Assassin's Creed" game. The control for keyboard is bad and the quests are unbalanced and lame.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before i get started with reviewing this game i would like to say that i am a rpg-fan and also i also would consider myself a freak in history.
This was the main reason why i bought the game (i did not pre-order) a few days after it released

    Story:
The story starts fresh and at the start does a great job of setting things up (there are certain things you have to discover while playing).

The problem is after the good prolog and the first steps in the mainstory, it goes back to "kill all those people from this list" and "Make some things to find out where these people are to kill them"
There are some good twist in the game (although some are predictable).

The setpieces (e.g olympic games, fight for power in Athen etc.) would be there but they did not use their potential.

    Gameplay:
First i want to talk about the gameplay or the changes to the last AC. And i have to say there is not that big of a change to Origins, when it comes to land-battles and land-combat.
Sea-combat made a comeback but in a much more simplistic form that in AC IV

Overall the gameplay is ok even it will start to repeat itself after some hours.

    RPG:
The RPG-element of the game is building your character. This mean you can pick Skills out of a skilltree and equipt diffrent weapons and armor
The whoie thing splits into 3 styles of playing: You can play as Hunter (which focuses on long-range), as a warrior (short-range combat [NOT STEALTH]) and Assassin (Stealth and stealthkilling)
You have the free choice how you build yourself and even mixed characters are possible

The system has a wide range of possible mixes and builds. Although it has to be said that there are certain builds and skills that are way to powerful (as a warrior with legendary gear you are immortal).

    World:

Again they made a open world which is f-ing huge. Each map-piece has a different style and locks amazing.
All in all the game looks amazing. There are some beautiful snapshots in this game

Things to do beside the story:
There are tons of things to do beside the story: Sidequests are everywhere. You can participate in the war, collect legendary gear, kill cultmembers etc.

The problem here is (and that is why i give this game only a "ok-ish" grade) is that not much of that is worth a while. In fact after 50% of the game i started to rush through it because i outleveled everything and everything felt like i had done it at least once before.
The map is overpacked with things to do and it is tiring after some hours

    Conclusion:

All in all it is not a bad game. But the story or lack of a really good story and the repetition of content stops it for being a great game.
If they would have taken away 20 - 30 hours of content outside of the story and put the effort in the story it would be a very pleasant experience

    2. Assassinations are still fun, with some added nuances that have made it better.
    3. Combat is solid, with plenty of weapon types and abilities.
    4. Life at sea and naval combat is as enjoyable as ever, but a little simplistic compared to Black Flag.
    5. Massive amount of content including new additions such as epic battles and randomly generated missions.
    6. Duelling mercenaries, heroes and other special characters is a joy.
    7. The gameworld seems to intelligently level up along with the player character. which means the player never really gets too overpoweredm. You can still find weak / underleveled enemies, but never more than two levels below you.

    Cons -
    1. Performance is very disappointing, especially for game that does not really have that much of graphical fidelity. Edit : I can see a few bots here claiming they can run @60FPS on "ultra" in a potato PC. Know that they are flat out lying (notice none of them are bothered to post screens from the in-game benchark, as that would expose their lies). You can check hundreds of benchmarks from gaming media or gamers on youtube.
    2. Evidently, this is the main substance of the review :). The grind is real, and a deal breaker. Rewards are too meagre, and resource costs are too high. It is completely unbalanced. You will never have enough resources to upgrade your legendary equipment up to your level, or engravings or your ship, unless you waste dozens of hours scouring the land for those '+2 iron' ores and '+3 soft leather' deers. Normally this could be addressed easily by adding an in-game slider that multiplies the resources earned or reduces the costs so that players can adjust the level of grind to their liking. But nope. Why do that, when you can charge real money for in-game resources? It is a bloody shame. It turns a 9 to a 5. I cannot encourage this attitude from developers. So, I am forced to leave a negative review for a game that I am otherwise enjoying.

If you can overlook that last point by having nothing else to do or paying real money for resources, buy this. It is a great game otherwise.

The pathetic excuse for gamers these days is unbelievable, millennials have no idea what a gaming experience is about, we grew up with 2D side scrollers and they were classed as A rated games and the big things about them were finding the glitches and mistakes from the developers which added more fun to the games.

Games today have huge open worlds to explore and i suppose the big problem with all new gamers is the aspect you may also learn something along the way, you seem to expect the game to feed you in a way that i would like to see you do better, go back to the first AC title then come back to this one to see the massive changes the franchise has made, to hate on a business for doing what they do which is MAKE GAMES is so stupid it boggles the mind you have no idea the man hours that go into making something that is designed for fun.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is easily one of the best games of 2018 without a shadow of a doubt, it has great aspects from Origins and then added more and set in a beautiful recreation of Greece, and if anyone listened during history at school or educated themselves has such a captivating focus on the history of Greece, from the Diplomacy of Athens created by Pericles to the fall of the city due to the plague and tainted grain from Sparta.

The game also lets you explore rather than spoon feed you all the missions (it's how i found the Minotaur by pure fluke) which makes it a fantastic adventure.

The Helix credits... i have bought non and guess what you can still enjoy the game, these things are put there for players who like to add something to their games but not at any point does it feel forced or pushed on you to do, and the grind is not bad at all, if anything its lesser than Witcher 3 in that respect.

Unless you're playing on a potato this game plays flawlessly i play on
    Ryzen 5 1600 (3.8ghz)
    AMD rx470 8gb
    16gb RAM (3000mhz)
    Windows 10 Pro
even running the game on an old HDD
it plays fine on my 4K monitor with no tearing stuttering or fps drops, i think the worst i had was 40fps which is still non noticeable during game play this generation needs to get over that more fps = better as your eye can't see or notice anything higher than 60fps in most cases as the majority of monitors refresh at 60hz which is 60 fps tops a game may tell you you're getting 120+fps but you monitor isn't refreshing at anything higher than it's designed to, even movies play around 27-30fps and nobody **** about that.

I have sunk over 66 hours into this game and i am only 61% complete, my advice for this game is to explore, take in the vast lands and surprise yourself with what you can find, if you bought this game to mash a button in fights and to be told how to play then you bought the wrong game, stop following the bandwagon of being told what to like and what to hate, i bought this game for £35.99 with Ubisoft discount which i earned through gaming which is 20% off... on release, say what you will but nobody rewards you 20% off with a made up currency you earn by enjoying yourself.

The fighting is challenging as you have to think about what you're doing or you will die to simple soldiers with shields or dual wielding swords, it takes a little time but not hard to master, even higher rated mercenaries can be bested.

The map is huge, fast travel is there if you want it, it is filled with bandits wild life and events you can only find by exploring, you can find some awesome items just by exploring.

    Pros:
    Stunning visuals
Well over 70 hours game play
The choice to play either male or female
So much to do it can sometimes feel overwhelming which is GREAT in a RPG

    Cons:
Doesn't seem to like potato PC
The sea doesn't have the same pull as AC Black flag
    Millennials
Sorry having difficulty thinking of cons as it is honestly that good a game.

There's a million things that can be improved in this game, but it really doesn't detract from the fun. It's beautiful too and it's wonderful to wander around ancient Greece.

I'm going to have to agree with others. This is the best RPG since the Witcher 3 the quality of which it can't match, but hopefully we'll see ubisoft refine it's RPG making skills in future.

Whether assassin's name is necessary for a game that is hard to assassin? Although it is RPG, either the level of the enemy is always the same as myself or two down. I tried hard to the highest level. I raised the level of weapons, but skill is necessary to assassinate enemies. I want you to return the old assassin's creed.

But as everybody should know, big is not always better, it depends on what you can do with it... I don't have problems with the RPG style, I'm an RPG Player normally. But when you do that, do it right. Origins got me at the first few minutes, I had always the feeling to be in ancient egypt. This here just gives me the feeling of the typical Ubisoft Game - get quest, watch out for colourful points on map or on screen, run/climb to it, kill kill kill. The fight system is so bad, what have you done? The AI is so bad, why? Quests and missions - too much. Why should I redo the same daily/weekly all over again? The battleship thing is also ridicolous, thats the first thing to do. Invest in your boat and rock all over the beautyful water, like you are on a speedboat shooting toothpicks 5 times on another boat to kill them all. Ah, yes... Should I mention the very bad "love scenes". What has RPG to do with that? Again, do it right, or leave it.
I love the AC Story since I played Altair on PS3 and then with Ezio they created a legend of a game and successors. But by now, I only think of how someone in a management bureau just thought about, how cheap he could get another title with AC, so let's take the assets from Origins, copy Shadow of War, GTA V and let's watch the idiots buy this thing. Just 1 year after the last release. And we did, oh yes. We idiots did. But that's the last time.

Let me give you a % scale of what this Game contains

60% ("Travelling") Running or riding on your spastic horse trying to find senseless amounts of collectibles
    20% clearing camps/forts
    10% Dialogue / cutscenes
    5% Dying to random stuff
4% spending time on blacksmith to upgrade gear or sell stuff
    1% Sex

    Positive :
    - Great Setting / Story
    - a nice Combination of assassins creed & witcher 3 (way better than origins)
    - different ways to create your "own" story
    - you can have some happy hours with characters

    Negative :
    - the loading screens times are ridiculous.
    - Microtransactions ( some items/cosmetics you cannot get without paying real money)
    - Maxed out Textures / Graphics aren't worthy to be shown in 2018, this looks like 2015
    - Performance is still lacking. Pretty huge cpu usage (hi there denuvo piece of trash)
    - Will get repetitive very shortly (clear forts, caves or camps / kill alpha animals / find artifacts / kill person x, destroy y or collect z)
    - Levelcapped character / always stronger enemies (some levels too low, you literally deal no damage - regardless of your gear progression you mostly cannot oneshot stealth kill any high level enemy)
    - Way too much collectibles & annoying "puzzles" (graves / caves)
    - no indicator about how much is left to do until you finish one region
    - Way too less fast travel points.
    - unfinished Engine (still as bad as in origins)
    - fck the ship travelling, ship fighthing & ships in general
    - insane reactions of enemy AI, spotting through walls / hear through floors / see you even if you are behind them
    - you have to unlock with the ingame shop that some things are shown on the map (legendary chests, etc..)

It's worth a good 30 bucks but that's about it. I just bought it because i don't have time to wait atleast 3 months to get this cracked.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm so happy we finally got a new 3rd person, Elder Scrolls game in 2018!... and here I thought I'd have to keep modding Skyrim until 2021's official TES:VI release.

Okay. So it's not really a TES game. I lied. But you gotta admit, I almost had you going there. No? Oh well... let's see.

    - Choose Gender? Check. (I chose Kassandra)
    - Choose Race? Check... albeit limited to Imperial.
    - Start story by getting armor after killing the first enemies? Check.
    - Having to go to a nearby town to actually get your first quest from someone who helped you when you were just a bandit (well... child bandit)? Check.
    - Being attacked randomly by trios of wolves in the wild? Check.
    - Notification (for the first time in an AC game) that you would be STEALING??? CHECK!
    - Being attacked by villager for stealing his stuff? CHECK CHECK CHECK!

Okay, you know, I could keep going, but it's better if I stop there. Actually, TES:VI is rumored to take place in Hammerfell. A region not to different from Ancient Rome/Greece/Norther Africa and Middle East. Looks like AC's got you beat there, Bethesda.

    Now. Onto the good stuff.

This game is an Assassin's Creed game, but it is more Witcher "3.5" than Prince of Persia, and that's what people are upset about. They are upset because, quite frankly, Ubisoft resorted to doing away with the formula completely before even trying to fix what was broken in the final days of the "true AC" (that is: Unity and Syndicate). They are right to be upset, but they are wrong in their assumption that their dislike for the latest formula, which is really an amalgam of other games' formulas, means the game is automatically bad, or as some have ignorantly put it, the "worst AC game ever" (clearly they did not play Unity).

    The game is not great.
    The game is not terrible.
The game sits somewhere between "The world could always use more heroes!" and "Ever get that feeling of deja vu?" (As respectively voiced by Overwatch's Tracer). And it never really leaves that place. If you enjoyed the freer elements of Origins, you will enjoy this one even more. If you enjoyed the more tedious elements of Origins, you will be frustrated by the freedom in this one. Thankfully, Ubi's got your back and they have a mode selection to let you decide whether you want freedom or not. Whether you want to play Skyrim, or AC:Origins.

The fighting mechanics, the visuals, the AI (including Mount pathfinding), the voice acting, the lip-sincing, the music, the bugs, etc etc etc, are in many ways identical to Origins. In fact, so many of these things are so identical, it becomes clear as soon as you leave the first island, that you're basically playing a stand-alone expansion of Origins. This, naturally, has upset many people.

So let me tell you what Odyssey is...

    - It's a fun game
    - It's a spin-off of Origins
    - It's definitely a game where you can assassinate your way through pretty much every NPC, except the important marks (I can see why people are upset at this, but for me, it's a nice break from something that started so long ago, I'm kind of tired of it)
    - It's an amalgam of many other really popular Action RPGs
    - It may or may not be worth the price tag for many. I got it on sale because PC games always have sales pretty much immediately.

... and then let me tell you, finally, what it is not:

    - It is NOT a TES game, so don't be fooled into buying it thinking you'll get that kind of epicness out of it.
    - And it is NOT a bootleg version of Witcher 3 (you won't get that kind of story), despite my significant other walking into the room while I was playing it and immediately asking me "Is that a new area in Witcher?"

I don't get many of the comments about grinding...it's not like a MMRPG where you need to go and pick fights with random packs of wolves, NPCs etc. just to level up. The timed mini-quests & bounties can be repetitive and are very simple (sometimes I've had quite literally the exact same mini-quest dialogue from different NPCs) but there are plenty of actual side quests which are generally interesting, and so far I've found no issues with leveling...and absolutely no grind has been required in my own experience. For reference, I'm relatively new to the series...played the original AC when it came out, but wasn't keen on the mechanics and gave up a few hours in...Origins was my first real AC game that I experienced in full. It's a 6 for me. Big, pretty, open world with very repetitive side stuff that's mandatory so you don't get level gated from the main story. Interesting story with some lame dialogue. I've seen some reviewers stating this game is a rival to The Witcher 3 which just proves they never played it. The excess of microtransactions in a single player game also get the score down for me.

You get sucked up into the game, lost in the story and characters. Mechanically this game has a few small bugs, but other wise it's a masterpiece. The music is fantastic, the scenery and setting are beyond a master piece. The fact that you can actually fight your way through things now without instantly failing a mission is fantastic. You got seen by one person? You can kill him before he alerts everyone. The skill choices and the combinations of sets allow for you to truly make your own person. Most of the names used - Markos, Nikolaos, even the protagonist's name Alexios if you can believe it, are Byzantine, Italian even Syrian names and they were certainly not used in the game's time period, but close to a millennium later.

    1. My PC is at the lower end of the required specs (i7, 16 Gigs of RAM, GTX960). I run the game at medium settings, and it works perfectly well. No crashes or getting stuck, whatever.
    2. Yes, the game is a bit less "assassin-y". The story revolves around the stuff we know from other games, but it's not that you soon run around in the typical Assassin-outfit or colors. You DO use stealth, a lot of things prove this is an AC-game, but it's less so than the other games. I am a huge fan of the franchise and have played and finished almost all the other ACs (minus Liberation and those mini-games). And I enjoy this one a LOT.

This game is pretty much a perfect follow up to Origins. If you did like that one, you will enjoy Odyssey. Many of the abilities and controls are the same, yet things were added.

    - Moral choices. They're not having a GIANT effect on the story, but you can be either the cruel, determined person or more of the nice hero.
    - Battles. They're not gigantic, but they are fun. You run around in a battlefield, taking out soldiers and commanders. You're a mercenary, so you pick the sides and help shift powers.
    - Ship battles are back. If you did like the naval battle in Black Flag and Rogue... you will feel rght at home, as they're pretty much the same. However, you can "spec" your ship by capturing officers who will give your ship perks.
    - I found the talent tree to be more fun than in Origins.

The game does look beautiful. There is a lot to explore. People have complained that enemies level with you, so you never are 10 lvls above your opponents. I don't mind though, because I guess the same people complained about Origins and how you got a ton of quests you couldnt do because you were too low level. So you had to do side quests in order to get to the other main quests.

Others have complained about micotransactions. If that disqualifies the game for you... that's your opinion and I respect it. However, I think you would miss out on a beautiful game. I for one simply ignore the store. On my travels, I easily picked up enough materials to upgrade my ship, craft arrows etc.

This is a lot like AC+Witcher3+300, but it still is an AC game. It looks a bit better than Origins, and to me is even more fun. I did replay Origins right before the release, and I enjoyed Odyssey more.

So my opinion: If your PC can run it (mine can, even though it's not a state of the art up to date gaming machine), and you like the franchise, definitely give this a try. It's a bit less "Don the outfit, equip your wristblades, be a precursor of Altair and Ezio", it's shifting more towards "Be a mercenary in Greece, get tangled up in events related to the other games, use assassin techniques".

Once again, I do love the franchise, and I don't get why people say it's "not AC". It adds a different flavor, takes a different approach. How often do we need the same "Young guy suddenly is involved in Templar plot, gets an assassin outfit, gets the blades, gets trained, tada"

Approach this with an open mind. If you did like Origins, this is a step up from that, and to me, it's a totally enjoyable game.

Turn dof off and clouds to high. It's great, haven't played Origins, but in contrast to others I really like what Assassin's Creed has become, I was definitely burned out of the old formula. If you like games like the Witcher 3, then you will like this. Lol at 0 etc scores. Haven't encountered a single issue on PC, people with potato PCs and cpus begone.

As a fan of both Witcher, GTA and the first in AC series. Without a shadow of a doubt this game is masterful work of art. It's by far the most awe-inspiring game I've ever played. The attention to detail, the characters, the voice-overs, the open world, the storyline, all of the elements perfectly tied together create an absolutely astounding and unforgettable experience.

Expand

This broken mess will not work on a Xeon x5660 or even more recent cpus without avx support. My Xeon is oced to be on par with a ryzen 1600. Bf1 Wildlands or Origins run amazing on this beast but guess what it does not support the cancer called: denuvo vmprotect. There is no way to refund this trash, since it came with a gpu I only acquired cause it came with this garbage game.

A shame that Amd goes hand in hand with such a disgusting company.

Expand

everything in the game is lackluster
be it the fighting that is grabagee story and dialogues that make me cringe like nobody's business
Critic reviews and big gaming sites reviewers are getting out of touch and disconnected from gamers so i come here to give this game the 0 it deserves because origins suffered from the same problems and they didnt listen

After I played AC: Origins, I thought people in Ubisoft are educable. Apparantly not. Side quests are still bad, lots of stupid quests between general quests in storyline. All question marks on the map are caves, enemy camps, and wild animals - that's all. More than half of bounty hunters are WOMEN in Ancient Greece. I don't understand why Ubisoft told us that Odyssey is an exception, because dialogs are very poor and for me it's difficult to find any differences between Origins and Odyssey. Seems like Ubisoft doesn't learn from their mistakes. I was surprised when I saw 90 score by critics, hope it'l change soon. Expand

This game is great. Beautiful world, lots of immersion. The sound ambiance is a big upgrade over AC:Origins, as well. I do think the voice acting is better than in Origins as well. The eye movements look great, but can be wonky sometimes, all in all it is good step forward in the AC series.

Running AVG 60 FPS on a 1070 with everything ultra and Super Sampling up to 140%.

The latest addition to the Assassin's Creed franchise is truly a wonder and a fresh take on a stale idea. The excellent execution, gameplay and story is only overshadowed by greedy micro transactions, paid XP and awful optimization.

An excellent and beautiful game from ancient Greece. Maybe it’s very different from the first game, however this evolution benefits the brand. [Issue#290]

While AC: Origins was packed with interesting stories, Odyssey is a generic ’Ubisoft sandbox’ in the worst sense, with hundreds of the same-looking places, dozens of ”kill-fetch” quests and almost zero motivation to grind further.
