Arizona Sunshine 2 brings much welcomed changes and evolutions to the formula of the first one. With the inclusion of its adorable Buddy, Arizona Sunshine 2 is a great VR zombie game. [Meta Quest]

Arizona Sunshine 2 is bigger, better and more fun to play than the first chapter, even though the game inevitably inherits many of its flaws. Despite an inventory management still too complex and environments that repeat throughout the adventure, Rotterdam's studio's new effort is a satisfying and enjoyable VR experience. Considering how challenging it is to find products like this one in the VR market, it deserves all your attention.

Arizona Sunshine II is the classic sequel that takes everything good offered by its predecessor, improves and expands on it. There is still some roughness in the controls and the game is very linear, but if you are only interested in killing zombies with a visor on your head, you won't find better in VR market.

Time and time again, Arizona Sunshine 2 expertly ramps up the pressure of oncoming hordes of zombies and then rewards you with spectacular gore when your bullets and hatchets connect with rotten faces. Its VR shooting and relatively complex reloading mean you always have to be on your toes and thinking about how many bullets are left in your guns as you blast your way through a lengthy, occasionally poignant story about a man and his new four-legged best buddy. The variety of enemy types is pretty limited for a 15-plus-hour game, but there’s enough light puzzle-solving and climbing mixed in to keep it moving along, and the physics glitches provide as much humor as the one-liners and co-op antics.

Arizona Sunshine 2 is sure not to disappoint players who are looking for all the fun of a zombie slayer and none of the gore. While the gore itself isn't heavily detailed, it's still fun to mow down a horde of zombies, all while listening to the protagonist's colorful humor. On top of that, the VR mechanics themselves make this a must-play title for any VR gamer, as Vertigo Games truly does its best to showcase the limitless potential of making VR feel as lifelike as possible. Overall, this short, zombie-killing survivalist adventure seemingly has something for everyone and is worth checking out, if for no other reason than to experience some of the best that VR technology has to offer. Arizona Sunshine 2 doesn't reinvent the genre, but that doesn't mean gunning down waves of zombies with your pooch isn't a ton of fun.

Arizona Sunshine 2 does everything the original game does well. It’s a visually stunning experience with well-designed levels, an engaging narrative, and enjoyable gunplay. While the new features like explosive crafting and buddy commands fall short of being meaningful additions, they don’t hinder the overall package. If you loved the first game or are looking for a good story-driven shooter, then I recommend giving it a try.
