Firefall rip-off. Better graphics, worst gameplay, less content and microtransactions in 60$ game. And tons of bugs, like every single part of the game is bugged somehow! I am very disapointed. I hoped for Firefall successor.

    - Andromedas combat with added flying basically.

and just to remind you after Andromeda people said "dont worry the A team is working on Anthem"
now andromeda was mediocre at best but this somehow feels worse. to me this feels like the B or C team. Bioware you shot Mass Effect in the back of the head for this? pff what waste of time. DO NOT BUY.

This game being a looter shooter we deserve better. There is nothing really in the end game that grabs you and feed that hunger to get that next, to get that peace of armor, or to get the gun everyone is talking about. I really hope in a couple months we will see great change in this game but i'm worried that some of these problems aren't just fixing we can get in updates. Some problems are design problems that are at the core of the game code. so lets hope Anthem can live on, but for me i am out.

This is an unfinished, not fun, super grindy and a recycle machine. It might look nice, but that is it. This is an alpha more than a full release, and I have no idea what the 60$ is getting you. Compare this 60$ game to something like Red Dead 2 or Horizon Zero Dawn, is that fair? No, because they are not even in the same reality. DO NOT BUY THIS

The game is absolutely beautiful and the movement mechanics are fantastic. But overall, this is just a shockingly bad and hollow game. In fact, this is a "javelin showcase", it is not a complete game. Definitely NOT worth buying.

The AI does not seem to care that it gets hit. The endgame is unrewarding and feels as if it is more as an annoyance than fun to play. On the higher difficulties, weapons become useless and only way to kill grandmaster enemies becomes combo skills, then running for cover, waiting for cooldown to go off, shields to recharge and then go for a combo skill again, rinse and repeat, this is literally the only thing you can do to complete grandmaster tiers, there is no style, no fun, nothing.

The game looks beautiful, it feels nice to play it, the mechanics could do way more, but Bioware is not even using all its potential, instead it just stays in the same circle, not delivering anything special for Anthem. Not to mention the gamebreaking bugs that just ruin the whole experience.

List Issue, they always said they will never have loot boxes in their game, ... They are adding Vanity Chests soon that get you one free key each day for completing daily and you can use that to open a chest at the end boss and 'share' your loot with the team, so yes, loot boxes are coming to Anthem, just with another name and the excuse that they do not give out duplicates, while in the end of the day they are still lootboxes.

As a long time fan of Dragon Age, Mass Effect, i feel used and offended, left in hunger for a good game that i could finally play again. Thinking they spend 6 years on this game, is even more depressing, what have they really done the last 6 years on this game? It seems more like it was just sitting there for years and then build last minute and over hyped.

Not a spoiler, but during the end credits it came to me how less names were mentioned inside the development compared to how many 'QA testers' they had, its as if the game was made by a team of 12 people in total, the content also feels like that. It is not worth your 60 dollar/euro. please save yourself the pain and wait for Bioware to or fix these issues or you spend it on another game that deserves it more than this game.

It's clear that It's trying to be Destiny, as It has 80% of the same mechanics but still falls short to even scratch the surface of a good shooter-looter game. Maybe when the game Is finished It can be something amazing as It has the potential, but at this moment it's bastardized by EA's greed and stupidity.

Update: After watching the live stream on March 6th I have to lower my score, during the live stream more bugs came to light, devs were unprepared, did not talk about promised content and every answer was "maybe In the future", "maybe In the future patch" or "we don't have a timeline for that" and my favorite "help's us by creating a Reddit post on how to fix the game" this was truly pathetic.

    - LVL 1 weapons and gear Is stronger than any Master Work weapons(2nd strongest weapons In the game)
    - The damage Indicators are cosmetic and do not relate to the actual damage you do
    - The content that's In the game Is about It, the rest of the content with be variations of the same missions that are In the game
    - The devs did not bother on fixing GM2 and 3 strongholds with "we will fix it in the future patch"

Overall: Ths game Is a scam, DO NOT BUY! If you do want to play It, get $15 Origin access and that will be enough time to beat the game, including getting all end game activities and Items.

0 Tolerance for unfinished games. EA continues to run rampant, destroying all good things for the love of money. They will never learn.

0 Tolerance for the MASSIVE graphical downgrade that has been unveiled since the 2017 reveal... Games companies need to learn that this deceitful use of misleading advertising needs to stop.

My lack of trust in EA continues to be well founded. Skip this game. Do not support EA. They don't care what the reviews get, all they understand is money, so don't give it to them. Perhaps then they will begin to learn.

On launch, Anthem is plagued with bugs, immersion breaking loading screens and possibly the worst UI layout I've ever encountered in a game. There's no ping system, and even the ability to set waypoints is entirely non existent.

Fort Tarsis is desolate, sad, and boring. The handful of NPCs scattered throughout the fort are horrifically insufferable, with awful voice acting and even more atrocious animations. It's like trying to have a conversation with a Chuck E Cheese animatronic.

On top of all this, they have the audacity to throw microtransactions into this pile of garbage, trying to squeeze every last penny out of anyone they can. It's a blatant middle finger to the fans and shows that whoever approved this decision clearly doesn't care about providing you with quality content; they just want to make their investors happy.

The only reason I'm even giving this game a 1 rating is because the art department absolutely nailed their job. Even though the world of Anthem severely lacks variety in it's biomes, the world is beautiful and the mech suit designs are superb. Well done to anyone that had a hand in the artistic direction of Anthem, you've done a wonderful job.

In conclusion, Anthem is up there among the worst video games I have ever played in my life. I never thought I'd live to see the day where a looter shooter game was worse than Destiny 2 at launch, but BioWare have done the unimaginable.

Edit: Please note that EA playing a part in the creation of this game has absolutely nothing to do with my review. I think the game is trash because of the content, mission variety, story, NPC design, bugs, and so on.

Fort Tarsis felt like a crypt instead of a main hub and the inability to run through it was infuriating. My playthrough quickly turned into: "let's pick the dialogue option that appears to be the shortest so i can get back to playing."

Combat did become repetitive rather quickly and the lack of life in the world did not help the matter. I cannot help but look at the E3 trailer's world and compare that to the world that was delivered and i keep thinking that I would much rather be playing on that map. The one we received feels like it could have been procedurally generated since it looks barren, identical, and poorly crafted. I enjoy Warframe, Destiny, and the division and hoped to add this to my stable of favorite games but sadly that will not be the case. Here's to hoping they fix the majority of the problems in the next year or two.

If you've played Mass Effect Andromeda, you've played Anthem without the flying. Just like Andromeda, Anthem is technically not ready for market release, or even full price release. The story is very short and hangs quickly upon getting through first third, turning into repetetive grind, showing what's really there. The optimization is severely lacking, considering it's a Bioware game, it's very disappointing story and character wise. The idea that you walk around the "hub" on your own, in first person without being able to fully customize your Freelancer makes it really hard to form any sort of connection to.. Well, yourself. For a game that's been supposedly in the making since Mass Effect 3, it feels more like free to play early release buy-in closed beta, rather than fully fledged AAA release. It's the truth you could say the same about Destiny 2, but Destiny 2 ran far better, played better, didn't have so many technical issues, and if we are to use the comparision, it took Destiny 2 120$+ to get to a game people really like. As far as the microtransactions go, they're poor as well. The prices are on par with Warframe, but one has to keep in mind that Warframe is a Free to Play game, and the skins that are around 8$ in the store now are only Epic quality, leaving Masterwork and Legendary qualities to be imagined as what will they cost. 20? 30? Who knows.

As far as the lore goes, you might feel really lost. I found it incredibely hard explaining to my partner, after sinking in 40+ hours through Origin Acess, having finished both Story and Endgame on Grandmaster I, what the game is actually about. The story behind the enemies, or behind the good guys, I suppose it's all there in the Codex for you to read, but in my honest opinion that's far from alright story telling. I doubt anyone would have any issues explaining what Geth are after Mass Effect.

Both me and my partner had huge expectations for the next "Bioware game" and were met with massive disappointment. Even me, as someone who sank over 300 hours into Destiny 2, 300 into Division and over 2k hours into Warframe, I just can't see the spark that'd keep anyone going in Anthem. You can't craft anything you don't own and didn't extensively use, leaving you with hundreds, if not over thousands crafting materials that you can't really use aside "re-rolling" gear.

The coin flow for unlocking cosmetics is pretty much just like Fallout 76 atoms. You finish one-time challanges to achieve maybe 60-70k coins and then it halts into a daily/weekly/monthly grind, which can be as tedious as killing 500 enemies from each faction, doing X amount of "World events" that you can't track on map, or other silly things.

Also, there is no text chat whatsoever. No pinging enemies or location for other players. No sticker system ala Monster Hunter World. No waypoints for map. If you literally can not talk like me, you're left dead in the water, aside maybe trying to animation-wise Wave in morse code what you mean to others.

The developers of Anthem created a visually stunning world. However, the positives for the game end there. The game was released unfinished in that it lacks a great story, meaningful end game content, and a large array of post-game challenges. Additionally, the intended grind of the game is made more unbearable by the incredibly slow loading screens.

It's obvious that Anthem didn't have enough development time, but had some great potential. It's a real shame, that everything turned out this way. Even now, the game can bring out positive emotions. Hasty climbers have sudden falls. No matter how ironic this proverb may seem, it's incredibly relevant for Anthem.
